My car started running hot yesterday & I immediately pulled over. A friend picked me up to take me to the nearest Auto Zone. I went in the store telling the young man the year, make & model of the vehicle & I needed coolant. Instead of him entering my information in the system, he first reached behind him & got an orange bottle of coolant. He asked the employee next to him was it the correct brand (still not entering my information in the system) & the employee told him no & to get another brand located elsewhere in the store. I had zero money on me. So when he rung up the product, the total came to $20.84. I told him I had to have someone cash me, he & I waited & when I received the funds, I tapped my phone to process payment. I didn't know I needed 3 gallons for my vehicle but if I did know it, I wouldn't have been able to afford it at that time. This morning, I went on Auto Zone's website & saw coolant for $15. This wasn't an online deal & said exactly the same thing that the one I purchased said. If you see I'm struggling financially at the counter, asking someone to send me money, why wouldn't you offer the cheaper brand? Contact Shandra & was not pleased with her response. It was the hesitation and "um ok" like what do you want me to do about it. Now at the beginning of Shandras and I conversation I mention he may have been new which is the reason he asked the associate next to him. After her "um, ok?" that I interpreted as, and? I said, if you know I dont have the money and Im standing there, why wouldnt you offer me a cheaper brand. She stated that they offer the "OEM" products. Every Auto Zone I go to offers me options. They eneter my info in the system and will turn the monitor towards me when there a re multiple options or tell me the options that are available to me. She then restated that employee was probably new. I understand that but he asked the employee next to him which makes me believe that this employee had more experience or standing there training him. The employee he asked instructed him to get another from the back of the store. Neither of them entered my information in the system and I didn't even get my rewards for the purchase. I've been an Auto Zone customer since I was 15 and when I have an issue, they rectify the situation. Not "um ok" me. However, she said she will speak to him but how do I know that anything a tally going to be done. I need someone that knows the basics, that is available in the system if it were typed in and I need someone knowledgeable enough to tell me more about what I may need, like 2 additional gallons.
