I don't go there often but in general I am pleased with the friendly atmosphere; I always find what I look for and get useful advices and a friendly chat. Unfortunately, my last experience was not as pleasant. Yes, I understand it was a Sunday night and they were closing in about an hour, but... I needed a headlight bulb and asked for help to install it. They guy over the counter simply said "We don't do that", which is contrary to what I've heard and read about AutoZone. That put me off a bit so I had to drive to O'Reiley's who did it for me with no questions and even helped me to select the right color of the bulb. Dead battery. Things to do. Place to go. In a hurry. What to do? Jumped started my car. Drove to Autozone. Noticed someone with a raincoat near the front door in the rain. She checked my battery to confirm it was dead and that there wasn't some other problem. Inside another person looked up my car and offered me 4-5 choices of batteries at different price points and clearly explained the differences and trade-offs. I selected a battery and the nice woman in the raincoat installed it professionally for free in the rain. In and out in less than 30 minutes. I couldn't be happier with the knowledgeable customer service, the painless experience, and the convenience. read more

I have neglected my Lexus R350 maintenance, and, on my way to a client the car's battery has died. I was still able to restart the car. Because I was near Medford, MA, I went on the phone and I have started calling auto parts shops around. NAPA said they have the battery. I drove there, left the car running outside. Sales reps inside warned me that they do not touch any cars. Understood. I spent 15 minutes over there waiting for the rep to find a battery. Not in stock! He has suggested to try AutoZone. I have tried another auto parts store right next to NAPA in Medford, and received the same recommendation, try AutoZone. When I arrived to AutoZone I was immediately received by a very friendly clerk, who explained me all options. He was amazing and very customer oriented. Young technician installed the battery for me. It was hot outside and car was also hot. This technician was warned by a store manager that working on "luxury" cars may result in issues. He knew the risk and helped me anyway. Hours are 8-9 all days but Sunday which are 9-6. This store is large, full of the usual things you find at an autozone. I was really tempted to buy the glittery decals that say 'baby girl' and the "crome" ones that say 'heavy duty' for my kid sister's first car, just for shits and giggles. I held back. Somehow I didn't even buy the blingblinging door lock covers... Full of self restraint that day, apparently. I instead purchased winshield wiper fluid. Also a new cap for my boyfriend's brake fluid thingy. They have a really nice return policy, and always tell you to ring it back if it's not right, or whatever. read more

I am a customer for as long as the store has been open. Today I had the displeasure of visiting at approximately 5:15pm Saturday March 25. I had been in the store the week previously. And dealt with outgoing friendly employees. Not Bob. He's was hanging around the counter speaking with a non employee they had been carrying on for over 10-15 minutes. I attempted to get him to leave his friend behind for a brief walk to check the aisle. In addition to the aisles being disarray you could tell there is quite a bit of shoplifting I'm assuming due to the empty packaging littering the store. After waiting another few minutes I asked if he was too busy to come help me and he promptly asked me to get the F$&@ out of the store before he called the police on ME! I'm a 43 year old professional man with absolutely no police record. I welcomed him to call the authorities when he continued to confront me while the actual manage stood and did not say a think. The young man Bob continued to tell me he could not only speak how he wanted and could refuse to serve me. I would like the reasonable manager to check with the stop manager departing this incised. For those unfamiliar with this RPMporium, Autozone has almost every part for every car, but not specific parts for your car. Feel me? Batteries, lamps, spark plugs, air filters, fluids, fuses, fresheners and fan belts = yes. Make/model specific OEM parts like a quarter panel for a 2010 Honda Civic or a side view mirror casing for a 1995 Jeep Wrangler = no. After being struck by lightning or hitting a raccoon made entirely of electricity or whatever the hell caused every bulb on the driver side of my vehicle to short, I stopped in to this location to buy and install replacements. The various models were well-stocked, indexed by model number and easily referenced in the aisle guide. On check out, the guy at the counter tossed in a sample of bulb grease, advising me to "use it so the terminals don't get rusty and all short out." Oh, hehehe. Yeah, maybe I will. Turns out I grabbed the wrong tail light and on running back in to correct the error, Counter Guy offered a "eh, close enough" swap for the right size bulbs, which were actually $2 more expensive. Totally unnecessary and pretty OK in my book. When I undoubtedly fck up my vehicle once more with a massive wave of energy, porcupine safari or the ol' Objects in the Mirror are MUCH Closer Than They Appear debacle, these guys have what I need to simulate self-confidence in home auto repair. read more

This is the first time I have written a yelp review and I have been on it for years. This is how bad my experiences have been with them. I had a burned out headlight so I went here since it is around the corner. The guy who came out fix it for me (assuming I needed his help) ended up shattering the back of the old bulb which meant it took him 15 minutes to finally get it out when it should have taken less than 1. About a week later, I finally decided to cave in and buy a new battery since I knew it was on the outs. Again, because it was around the corner (and I was hoping the rest of the staff wasn't as bad as the first guy), I went back here. When I said I needed a new battery, they looked at me skeptically like a woman couldn't possibly know if that is what she needed. All 3 employees came out to my car to test my battery, leaving the store unstaffed while customers were still inside. After finally agreeing with me, the employee who brought the new one out asked "Am I getting a tip?", with a cigarette dangling out of his mouth. So thrown off, I responded, "I was going to have a friend put it in, but I guess you are doing it..." After a few minutes, he told me I was all set and walked over to the cigarette disposal to finish his cigarette. My hood was still up and the cover off my battery. I got out of my car and he watched as I struggled to put the cover back on before shutting my hood. Two days later, I try to leave my apartment to go to my college graduation and I have no clock lights on my dashboard. My car won't start. It's a few days before I can have the aforementioned friend come over to look at my car. He is stunned. Besides the excessive amounts of electrode gel, the cable/electrode/whatever that is supposed to be attached to the left side of the battery is just sitting on top. Mr. Tip did not attach it correctly. Besides terrible customer service, they are inadequate at the most basic car maintenance tasks they are supposed to be able to help customers with. This is a review for the store and the online website. I purchased two belts, and a slave cylinder from autozone. Apparently it took me a while to learn my lesson, because none of the parts fit my car despite confirming that they were for the right car. Paid next day shipping on the slave cylinder, and after taking out the old one, I discovered they weren't the same fitament. I called autozone to report the discrepancy, at first they didn't want to refund my shipping, later they offered me a 5 dollar gift card for my trouble. Don't bother getting parts at autozone even if you want to save money, especially if you're in a pinch. read more

Really guys??? Place has gone from OK to the worst run shop in the area. I don't even know how corporate is not getting involved since I'm sure there has been plenty of complaints of incompetence at this location in Medford Ma for some time now. I call about parts I ordered last week, can't find it. I ask about the part I ordered yesterday since there's no delivery drivers for quite a while now and they ask that you come pick it up. So I call on the items before I head there so to not waste my time and they do not know where the items are and since he's really busy and have a few people waiting I need to call back. Is this how you keep your long term accounts??? REALLY??? If corporate doesn't turn this place around in MEDFORD MA you'll see plenty of accounts going else where even if it's further. If you need help, they will be friendly, but they will not actually help you. They will gladly look up your part that you need (or at least try to). If they eventually succeed after 10 minutes of trying they will tell you the part and that they don't have it. The end. Where can you get it? If they know, they aren't going to volunteer that information. Wonder what size screw to get? It's in aisle six. Oh, you mean you want to know which one to get? It's in aisle six. Do they have a ruler? It's not in aisle six, but they'll say it is because they stopped listening. Once you try and use the ruler by the register, another employee will approach you and say that what you seek is in aisle six. And no, they don't know how big it is either. read more

Went here to find a replacement rear wiper blade. With my last car, I learned that one can replace just the rubber - not the entire blade. The first salesman said no, one has to replace the entire blade. Wrong! Is it because I'm a woman, they think I'm ignorant? Trying to sell me more than I need? Then he goes online to see what they have in stock, enters my vehicle info, says they don't have the recommended one and proceeds to recommend a blade that won't fit. It was obviously the wrong size (14" when I have a 12" blade - which I was holding in my hand). Could tell through the packaging that the product he suggested was the wrong size. I approached 2 other salesmen who confirmed the first guy got me the wrong size but they backed him up on the claim that one has to replace the entire blade. They even go on to say wiper blades only last 6 months. More wrong! I've never known anyone to replace wiper blades that often. Lies to sell me wrong products and keep coming back for more? Very simply I have attempted to secure service in this Autozone no less than 4 times and each and every time I was either completely ignored or completely ignored then scolded for interrupting when the sales staff was busy. Their concept of busy I am afraid was entirely another issue that I could discuss in detail but will not for brevity's sake. I am 68 years old and sometimes need a hand. If the Auto zone Corporate condones this attitude from it's employees/franchisees I'm gone. I may have to drive some extra miles or even online. Business is brutal out there boys and girls. Terrible experience. My battery died during the last cold snap, so it was time for a replacement. I called ahead to make sure that they had a suitable replacement in stock (I was told they did) and to make sure that they would be able to install it for me that afternoon (I was told they would). I got a jump and made it to Autozone less than half an hour after I called, with plenty of time before they closed. I gathered a few other things I needed for the car anyway (because I wanted to give them my money if they're installing a battery for free, right?) and pulled the correct battery, only to be told (very rudely) after I paid that they couldn't install it for me??? I would have gone elsewhere if I'd known that they wouldn't install it. The cashier then tried to feed me some BS about how I couldn't return anything because the charge hadn't gone through on my card? Not true. He finally refunded my money when I pretended to call my husband about the ordeal. I have no husband, but this guy suddenly decided that lying wasn't as good of an idea? To make matters better? My car was dead again when I went back out after getting my refund (the dead battery is no fault of theirs, I know). HOWEVER, I wouldn't have shut the car off if I'd known I couldn't get a new one put in. Good news? I ultimately ended up taking my business elsewhere. I called around while waiting for a jump in the Autozone lot. Advance Auto Parts was honest about not having the staff to install the battery that afternoon, but sold me the same one for $20 less and let me borrow tools to install it in the parking lot by myself. Ladies especially: Don't take your business here. They're liars who only see dollar signs when a woman walks in the store. ALSO: Learn to change your own battery. It's a lot easier than I thought, and you won't have to deal with condescending parts store men anymore. If they can learn it on youtube, so can we. read more

I learned on Sunday that I had a burnt out headlight...I purchased a replacement at PepBoys on Monday morning but they wanted me to wait plus pay them to put it in (I know it is easy, I just didn't know exactly what in my car was the back of the bulb). I took the bulb home and intended to do it after work but during the day someone pulled up beside me while driving and told me I had no brake lights. Ugh!! I was lucky to have found this place on my way home. Will S. helped me immediately, offered to put in the lights, and was terrific. No wait, no extra cost. This is a pretty standard Autozone. The store is clean and usually well stocked. The employees are generally nice and try. i have noted they are often understaffed on the weekends (Autozone if you read this the more people on the weekends the better), but are pretty quiet during the week. I'm not sure why there are so many 1 and 2 star reviews especially when it comes to repairs or lack of information like for the size of the bolts or fuse locations. Just because you work at a Stop and Shop doesn't make you a chef, and just because you work at an Autozone doesn't mean you're a mechanic. I am willing to bet that a lot of the employees have never changed a battery or a bulb prior to working here and they are learning as they go. This means the employees are often slow and intimidated when helping or are reluctant to help altogether. If you choose to use the FREE assistance you should really consider this beforehand, after all you get what you pay for. I personally would never allow these kids to touch my car. It is a similar story for looking up parts, unfortunately you have to know what you're looking for, since the knowledge of most of AutoZone's employees is limited to what's on the screen in front of them. If you want to advice on how to remove a Pittman arm or a drag link, or what the best way to press out a bushing is you're probably out of luck because frankly a lot of the people working at these stores would pay someone to do it for them, and have never performed a major repair. While I know many will assume that if you don't know how or don't want to work on a car then you shouldn't work at an Autozone but everyone needs a job. To summarize this is a fairly standard Autozone, the people (for the most part) are nice and do what they can. When I go in there they usually have what I need or offer to get it for me from another store or the warehouse. Lastly, if they can't get it they usually give me a suggestion as to where I can get it. read more

Standard Autozone. Nothing special, but when you need something, Autozone is a nice physical establishment that you can find about anywhere. Having hit them in three corners of the country and some smack in the middle, they all seem familiar to me now. This one stands out as staffed by people who don't want you in the store. I've been there a couple of times for an assortment of things, and never have I seen a smile. Calling to ask about availability, I often got "We don't got those". I pull into AutoZone, walk in, Paul immediately asks if I need help, figures out what I need, tells me my options, goes and gets it, rings me up THEN offers to come outside and help me do it. Went here to test and charge our RV batteries. Took them 20 minutes hooking up to the test, and told us they could not do it since it was an RV. (Yesterday morning I called, and they said they test and charge RV batteries) As we were about to leave and started her up, we realized they completely drained all of our batteries. We asked them to jump start her, and they pretty much shrugged their shoulders and said they don't jump start RV's. So we were left stranded in the parking lot for an hour waiting on roadside assistance to jump start here. My advise, never come here.EVER. read more

I went to the Medford store to inquire about an alternator and battery. While I was waiting for the information, my tiny seven pound dog was barking at some customers. I had him on a leash. He wanted attention as a couple of people talked and then petted him. Then the store clerk said that I should hold him close as someone may kick him. He said that he would because he doesn't like dogs. I was shocked and said that kicking a tiny dog or any dog is like kicking an infant. He is not an attack dog. I reported this to the store manager to was equally as rude and went on and on judgment, criticizing and stereotyping my dog. I cannot walk into that store again as I feel unsafe, especially after the threat. It doesn't hurt to be kind to customers who are your bread and butter. The worse experience. I bring my little dog everywhere and have never had anyone say such a nasty thing, only praise and compliments. I will be talking to corporate about this. read more

Most bizzard experience I've ever had going to autozone! When I first walked in we had Jeffrey on the drums banging very obnoxiously with two screw drivers on the check out table! He was very loud and very inappropriate! Some of the worst customer service I've ever seen. You're in the wrong business pal! So supposedly there credit card machine went down, so they were only able to take cash! So I left and went to the atm and to surprise when I got back the machine was back up and running! I dont know if anyone at Autozone checks these reviews but they should. I went to Autozone to have my battery and alternator checked. A service they say they do for free on the website. My car was barely running when I pulled in and asked for them to check my battery and alternator. The kid who came out to help me (and I use the word help loosely) seemed very upset he had to help me and then when he couldnt figure out the computer he was using he blamed it on the type of battery I had. I asked is that it? You cant help me? He said not unless you can take the battery out. How was I gonna do that? I thought that was something they did? Anyway he sent me crippled on my way. Just so you know, I went to the Advanced Auto Parts on Middlesex Ave in Medford. The gentleman behind the counter was probably 60 years old, he helped me right away, found it was a dead battery, and he changed the battery. I think Autozone needs to get a grip on the service end of what they do. read more
