My friend referred me here, so I decided to come. I was a new patient and came in October and loved the doctor/optometrist. I soon ordered a pair of glasses with Jonathan, the optician. He did not check base curve or optical center on my lenses before ordering them, though I did ask if he should put a dot on the lens where my eyes were, and he stated no. They arrived 3 or so weeks later and when I tried them on, the prescription was blurry and I couldn't see in my peripherals. I needed them to be redone so I went in on 11/4/21 to meet with Jonathan and 11/5/21 to see Janice. I met with Janice on 11/5/21 and she measured the base curve and optical center and said she would ship them out to be redone. I asked them both to please rush it as I needed them before Thanksgiving since it's been so long. They said they can't control the times with the lab, which is understandable. I decided to call today 11/19/21 to see if they would be ready by Thanksgiving, to find out they've never been shipped out. There goes another 2 weeks. Furious is not even the words to describe how I feel. I've experienced slow waits and processing times due to covid, but if they're sitting on a shelf, nothing will get done. So now I have to wait until Monday for them to possibly ship them out if they don't forget. When you talk to the other opticians, they say they have nothing to do with you since you're not their patient. Also, on 11/4, I told Jonathan to order my husband some non prescription sunglasses and when I spoke to him on the phone earlier today on 11/19, he made an excuse saying there's a long processing time. I had a feeling he was lying. So I went in person and Monique said she literally just ordered them. I told Jonathan that it's no big deal to own up to your own mistakes. If you forgot, then apologize and say you forgot. But he said that my husband's order was not his responsibility, but Janice's. Janice knew nothing about ordering a 2nd pair of sunglasses for my husband because she was helping me with my order that came wrong, not my husband's. I never mentioned to her about a second pair of sunglasses for my husband. I wanted to speak to the office manager or Dr. O about all of these issues I've experienced, but the secretary and opticians said I cannot talk to Dr. O in person and would either need to email or call and leave a message. Hopefully Dr. O can rectify this situation and can hire an office manager, because I will not want to return after all that has happened. I do not recommend this business due to their lack of communication, efficiency, and responsibility. If you can recommend me to another place, please send me a message. read more

The optician asked me what I knew about Maui Jim sunglasses. I told him I buy those for having the best lenses and not for fashion. He agreed. He did not pressure me to buy some other fashionable brand. I have only worn Maui Jim's for the quality of the lens. The last pair I bought was in 2012. They're beginning to loose the clarity; but 10 year old sunglasses can do that. read more

My husband and I had an appointment with Dr. Opatowski, but we're seen by another person. He started out doing the usual preliminary tech exam stuff and then gave the entire vision test. Dr. Opatowsky came in, he checked the prescription against, I don't know what as it wasn't our eyes, and declared we would see better with the tech's prescription. Definitely was disappointed, we drove from Ridgecrest to see Opatowski, but saw the tech. My husband has double vision and needs a very precise prescription. We were never notified that there was a change or introduced to any associate. Totally disappointing I guess Dr. Opatowski has surrendered to shrinkflation. read more

Got me in for an urgent referral, the same day I called, and even got me in EARLIER than the set time! Dr. Opatowsky was in the room within five minutes of my getting in there. He had my issue diagnosed within 10 minutes and had a prescription ready for me 5 minutes after that. All in all I was at the office for a half hour tops. Went in for my post op check up, 9 am apt, taken in at 8:55. Dr. checked both eyes the right eye is just a little dominate over the left, but that is normal, both eyes today check out 20/20, could not be happier, 3 weeks to the next check up. What a great place. read more

Although Dr. Phan is amazing and so is the front desk staff, this office needs to replace the horrendous 2 employee's who assist patients with their contact and glasses purchases. They are rude, absolutely insulting and provide zero customer service. I am insulted that they are still employed there due to the way they treat patients. Two years in a row they have ordered the wrong contacts for me, which shows me that they fail to follow the doctors instructions in the file that is provided to them.They also ordered the wrong frames for my husband and they both put up a fight with him and refused to assist him. Their behavior is that of a kindergartner and they need to be fired immediately for making things worse instead of providing excellent customer service in such a high class office. Last thought: go see the doctors but pick up your prescription and take it somewhere else for contacts or frames if you want them done right. Don't waste your time with those two idiots. read more

The most horrible customer service. I ordered glasses and they told me it's gonna come in 7 to 10 days. It's been 20 days and my glasses is not there yet. I called 3 times coz I need to bring that glasses on my trip out of town and just promised that they will make a follow up on it. I called again and was put on hold for 15 #$@% minutes and went to voicemail. When I called again I can't help but yell at the lady on the FD that put me on hold and she has the audacity to deny she didn't get my call. Love the staff and doctors here everyone was very nice and my visit was really quick so I didn't have to wait at all. Everyone had gloves and masks on and was still very passionate. Why is it that I never hesitate to fire off a complaint when I am dissatisfied with a product or service? Yet when I am extremely happy with above named, I don't take the time to give credit to the provider? Human nature I guess. My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Opatowsky for approximately 5 years at the suggestion of our primary care physician. What an epiphany! No more drives down to valley where it would literally take an entire day at our then opthalmologist. Dr. Opatowsky, in addition to being a truly caring person, and to whom no question is too small, has all the latest technology, the most efficient, friendly staff, pleasant office ambience, and geographic desirability for us. And I haven't even gotten to the best part! I recently had cataract surgery at Envision Surgery Center just a short distance from AV Eye Care. I have gone here for almost 18 years and each year I am extremely frustrated with the office staff. The people that sell the contacts and glasses and do the appointments are fine. But try to get an eye appointment for a time after 3pm and be prepared to wait at least 4 to 6 weeks. They never offer to preschedule an annual eye appointment so you can continue to order your prescription contacts. So if you go here you will want to be in charge of that date yourself. They are also completely unapologetic for their archaic office management. I get the message loud and clear. They are telling their customers that they have enough people and enough money coming in and they don't need me and so I'm guessing - they don't need you either. If you are looking for an Ophthalmologist office, I would look elsewhere. read more

I made an appointment with Dr. Opatowsky at Antelope Valley Eye Care to have my right eye examined for a cataract. He examined both eyes and we talked about the left eye as well, which needed lasered. My left eye had a cataract removed with a different doctor but my vision was still blurry. So, before leaving I made appointments for both eyes. A week later Dr. Opatowsky lasered my left eye to clear my vision at the Envision Surgery Center and the actual laser process took about 10 seconds. It was a miracle. I could see clearly and played golf the next day. I went back to the Envision Surgery Center a few weeks later to have the right eye cataract successfully removed. Dr. Opatowsky, the Antelope Valley Eye Care Team, and the Envision Surgery Center Team handled me with care and they will handle you with care too. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone, it really was a pleasure to talk with everyone, they all are very well organized, they all are patient focused with a "won't fail" mentality. The equipment and technology used was state of the art. Both of my eyes see clearly now! Dr. Opatowsky is one of the best doctors on the planet, we are lucky to have him in the Antelope Valley. June 5 my son and I had to stop in to AV Eye Care to have his glasses repaired. He had been playing soccer at school and a ball hit him and broke his glasses. I expected to have to wait for the glasses to be sent out but that wasn't the case. The man who assisted us found the frames in stock and it took minutes to change the lenses to the new frames. I filled out a short form stating what happened and we were done. It was so simple and such a relief to get in and out so quickly. I'm really happy he has his glasses and everything went so smoothly. Yesterday is the third time I've been back to AV Eye Care since I wrote my first review. After some phone calls to VSP and filing a grievance, AV Eye Care called me to come in. I was told the Doctor would make a one time replacement of my sons ill fitting glasses. Although reluctant, I took him in and was helped to select a frame that now fits his face. I again asked how to choose frames and was educated in that process. After completing the order I was asked to remove my review from YELP. I explained to the lady helping me that I have no problem giving praise when it is due and I left. I didn't change/remove or update my review at that time because I had to go through a grievance process to get the frames replaced and I didn't feel writing about that would benefit AV Eye Care. I also didn't appreciate being asked to remove my review when it was a valid review of the service rendered at that time. Since then my son and I have been back twice to have his glasses repaired. The first time we were helped in a timely manner and without incident. In fact I dreaded going in but it was a easy process and we were given more information on the care and up keep of his glasses. I greatly appreciated the information. I left feeling pleased with the helpfulness and positive friendly service. I should also mention he got his glasses fixed on the spot being that it was a screw replacement. Yesterday we went in with broken glasses. Yvette helped us (she had on a name tag this time). I found that very helpful because I like to know who is helping me. She was a pleasure to deal with. I'm very pleased with her pleasant attitude and how quickly she got all the information needed to get my sons glasses fixed. Because of the last two experiences I've had when doing business with AV Eye Care I am updating my review. I'm happy I didn't give up and go somewhere else. I'd like to reiterate what I said in my first review and that is, we were given an appointment quickly, checked in and seen in a timely manner and my then five year old was treated kindly and professionally by Doctor Phan. Wow! After being patients for 6 years I have never been so disappointed. After receiving our yearly reminder card, I called for appointments for my 3 children, only to be told they won't schedule 3 appointments at the same time/back to back due to difficulties with cancellations. Ridiculous...I told them to check my history and talk to the DR. about scheduling because there is no point in me coming two times to accommodate my three childrens' appointments. The day before our scheduled appointment I received a call from the office stating they would have to reschedule our appts. because we were a few days short of our eligibility date. Seriously, they sent the reminder card and you really only check our eligibility the day before the appt.? I had to reschedule for another month out...When I got home, a half hour later, I called my eye care plan and they said it was no problem for them to move the date up and made a call on my behalf to the office only to be told that all the appointments had been given away. I asked if it was customary for Dr. offices to contact the provider to see If dates were flexible and he stated it happened all the time especially if a Dr.s office wants to keep your business. A few days before Xmas I was diagnosed with a severe corneal ulcer. From the beginning, Dr O told me it was bad and there was a possibility I may need a cornea transplant. He immediately had me using 2 different antibiotics and I had daily visits, even on Christmas Day....who does that! Dr O does thats who. He is amazing and I am happy to report that with his diligent care my eye is healing and I can actually see again! Dr O is a consummate professional but he cares so much about his patients and their well being. He takes his time with you, answers all your questions and is there for you, even after hours. The entire staff, from the front desk to John his assistant are amazing, caring and so warm. I know I have a long road to full recovery but I'm not scared any longer because of the exceptional care of Dr O and his staff. I'm not sure there are adequate words to thank you Dr O. for helping me, you literally saved me and my eye.
