CUSTOMER BEWARE. I took my car in for a smog and they misdiagnosed it. They said that my factory OEM catalytic convertor was CA compliant. The part he showed me that was wrong was a resonator, not the convertor. He based his findings on the fact that I bought the car used from a Toyota dealer in Las Vegas, even though the emissions label says the car is CA compliant. I took the vehicle to another shop who inspected it and documented that the catalytic convertor was the OEM factory installed, but he took pictures to back up his findings. I asked the Manager here fro a refund and and he stated he was right in his diagnosis because I bought the car used in Las Vegas. He kept insisting his innocence even when I had to show him where the catalytic convertor was. If I could give 0 stars I would. read more

Honest, affordable and fast! This shop is certified with the proper tools to handle Freon and I came to this shop to have the A/C system in my friend's car checked. I had previously gone to an auto parts store and done a DYI recharge of refrigerant, but I wanted an expert to review my work and make sure I wasn't adding too much and damaging the vehicle. Eddie was very helpful and informative about the process of properly servicing the Freon. I'm so glad I came in for him to take a look, because it turns out there was a severely clogged cabin air filter that also needed to be replaced. No wonder the A/C was struggling! Went to the AV Smog Center on Ave K and Sierra Highway. These guys are a bunch of crooks! They failed my vehicle on a bogus claim. I took it to another mechanic and he could find nothing wrong, and then it passed smog with flying colors at another station. Either these guys can't run their machines or wanted another $30 to test my vehicle again. In either case they will never get my business again, and I hope others will stay away as well. read more

We moved back up here in 2010 & have always done business with shops in the SFV. Got tired of driving down below so I figured I'd look into a local shop closer to home. Our 09 Accord needed its first smog check done; called AV Smog Center middle of last week and spoke to Will who gave me a quote over the phone. Went there straight right after and met up with Eddie. Shop is very clean & both guys were very friendly & professional. Even the office had a nice couch, had the AC turned up super cool, & comfortable. Gave my keys & registration paperwork to Eddie and he was done in 10 minutes. He also honored the phone quote without hesitation or question. Also noticed they worked on cars. Our 07 Ford Edge AWD needed plugs changed & cooling system drain & fill. He gave me a quote for the job plus parts. Came back into the shop today, the 29th of June to have the work done. Again, Eddie charged me exactly what he quoted me for labor. Parts came out to about $2 less per spark plug. He also ordered OEM parts & coolant as a proper shop should. Will was done in no time & put our car back together properly. Looks like I found my shop in the AV. I needed a smog check and didn't want to drive very far so I check Yelp and found A.V. Smog Center. Based on the reviews I decided to give them a shot. I got there alittle after 8 am and was greeted by a mechanic who told me the technician is not in yet but if I could wait a few minutes he would find out where he is at. A few minutes passed and the mechanic told me it would be an hour before he gets in. He then gave me the option, he handed me one card referring me to another smog center with 10% off or come back in an hour for a $40 smog check. Since I have a SUV (Expedition) I didn't on coming back. I highly recommend this place. Upon returning I was immediately brought in and taken care of. The actually test didn't take long and I wasn't pushed for any other services. I only inquired about pricing some mechanical work and the rates are very reasonable. Highly recommend! read more
