Coffee isn't the best and the employees normally could care less. But it's bright and has good treats...and a great veggie sandwhich.

I like this location better than the downtown one. The space is laid out in a way that it's not so noisy, the back tables have a nice view of a pond, and the servers are friendly. Still not our favorite coffee or pastries, but one of the better choices when we are in south Beaverton. read more

If you're looking for a place to get some coffee and sit for a long time, this may or may not be the place for you. There's limited amount of seating inside the shop, but I love the outdoor seating in the summer. They have built-in heat lamps above the tables with a timer that you can control. The coffee itself isn't anything to write home about, but you can't go wrong with a latte. If you're sitting outside, you have a great view of the water behind the building which is just gorgeous at sunset. The biggest drawback that this place has is that it's wifi signal strength is the worst. It constantly drops when you're trying to log on to webpages, which isn't the most ideal if you're taking an online quiz for a class. read more

Something is off with their hot espresso drinks. I've been here many times the pat few years, and I've never had a good hot drink. Iced are fine. I don't know if it's the espresso machine, the flavoring a they use, Ava's not having a method recipe or the untrained barista. It's either burnt, rancid or a funny aftertaste. The pastries and cakes are good, and you can always order tea. read more

I'm so glad that my local coffee shop isn't a Starbucks! I quite like Ava - coffee is OK, pastries and sandwiches are good, location is excellent, and I've always had good service. The space is clean, bright, modern and relaxing - my wife likes to meet friends here for lunch or afternoon coffee. I use it mostly as a take-out coffee shop. read more

Needed a place to study for a bit and decided I'd give this place a shot. I was not disappointed! There mocha is very good (little on the pricy end) but the atmosphere, scenery and outdoor patio make up for it. Definitely will be back soon. read more

Cold coffee. Awful tasting pastries. And about 50/50 chance of getting someone even remotely friendly. I love the idea of a 24 hour coffee shop, especially since I work at 4am. It's a great idea, poor execution. Also the prices are really high. I think I'll just wait until 6am for a Starbucks to open. read more

I lived in Progress Ridge for about 3 years and you couldn't beat this location. Great seating layout, extended hours, and a view of the lake and the fountains during the summertime. The downside of Ava is the one thing they're supposed to do well, and that's coffee. I don't like the taste of their coffee and I've tried it a million different ways as I wanted to like this place so bad. Their customer service has never been stellar either. I haven't experienced rudeness as other's yelper's have mentioned, more like an overall complacency. If you want a good place to sit or study in a coffee shop vibe, this will do. If you're wanting a good coffee, check out the other places in Progress Ridge. read more

Very slow wifi, hard to work but fun to sit and have coffee!

some time ago I had their coffee, and it was awful cheap-tasting but not cheap. It was just a burnt low quality coffee with overpriced small pastry. OK I forgave them. Recently I happened to be in the area, and went for cup of coffee again I asked for a sample - cuz I remember how it was last time, and I was hoping that it was just a fluke. Cashier gave me that "you-are-so-ridiculous" look, and replied - NO SAMPLES! - because they have to make a new cup of coffee for every order. OK, I said, gimme a cup, I am buying it. the server takes my payment, turns around and fills me a cup of coffee from a tall thermos behind him !!!!!!! So, now I got me some coffee that tastes like an asphalt brew, and I am going to use it to flush down that feeling of being cheated on. HE DID NOT MAKE A NEW BREW!! HE HAD A FULL THERMOS BEHIND HIM! Terrible. But that is not the only reason I give them 1 star.. it is the customer service that is terrible. They have this snobby attitudes. Also, their prices are way too high for the quality of coffee and for the services that they are providing. OK, I understand. They are in a fancy area by the big pond, so the prices could be higher.. Yes. But should not the quality be higher as well???? read more

Went there today for coffee and a quick breakfast. Ordered two vanilla lattes, only one had vanilla. Ordered two breakfast sandwiches, specified cheddar cheese on both, neither had cheese. Ordered chocolate fudge cake, received chocolate raspberry cake. Out of the five items ordered only one was correct. The coffee was okay but certainly not special. The breakfast sandwiches would have been better had they been made at home. Extremely disappointed as the Beaverton location is quite good. I won't be returning to this location. read more

My second favorite Ava's. During the summer, this place is the best. Garage type window doors open up onto a patio overlooking a lake, next to a fountain where kids play. A bit louder, and less outlets due to the retracting walls, but still a solid Ava's location for anyone looking for a nice place to work and nurse your coffee. Great overall. I really like this place. Although ostensibly a coffee shop, they also serve some great breakfast and lunch sandwiches. The ambience is open and modern, and it has a great view of the reservoir. Sitting outside sipping a latte and eating a sandwhich has the feeling of eating at a Four Seasons resort. I can't believe how I was treated. I have been working in guest services for over 15 years and I have never been treated like this or seen someone treated this way. I understand that guests and customers keep the business going, and with this model of guest service you won't have too many in the future. I was yelled at from across the restaurant at 6am that I couldn't bring in any food from outside. This was SO RUDE; I understand the rule although at the time I did not know the rule existed. Would It have not gone over better to respectfully and quietly approach the guest and ask them to leave their outside food/drink in their car, but instead I was treated like a rebellious 2 year old. I have spent literally hundreds of dollars at AVA since it opened and expect more from a company that I have received some really great service from. Than I confronted the woman who treated me like this with a gentle note that I asked her to read only stating that what she did, hurt my feelings and embarrassed me too. She refused to read the note, telling me she was too busy and than told me to leave, THREATENED TO CALL THE POLICE, AND MADE AN EVEN LARGER SCENE. WOW! THAN SHE CALLED HERSELF THE OWNER, THIS IS INTOLERABLE!! I can't expect AVA to retain customers if they are going to be treated this way. Nice ambiance, good coffee and drinks, better than average food. Pricey. Baristas usually look angry which is why I can't rate this place higher. The one time I tried to use Internet, I had issues getting on their network. I was too scared to ask one of the staff and make them angrier. read more

Great hot chocolate and pastries. The coconut macaroon is beyond belief. The coco is available in milk, dark or white, and it starts as shavings blended in to the warm milk. I'm not a coffee drinker but my friend says its great. Nice atmosphere to sit inside, live local music on Friday evenings, and nice patio area to watch the lake (old quarry filled in nicely) next door for a business meet or a snack before a movie at Cinetopia next door. It isn't as fast as Starbucks, but that's because each drink is hand made slowly and much better. It is worth the wait to me. I do Starbucks drive through when in a hurry, but mostly I want to park, sit, relax and enjoy an excellent drink. Ava's is my "go to" for that. read more

This place is awesome. I went to the other one for years and years but live closer to this location. They are open late for those nights when I am up studying and need caffeine. Have free WiFi and let you hang out as long as you want. Their black and white chocolate mocha is so good so is the chai tea. The pastries and cakes or delicious and it's all health conscious. Love this place and will keep going for as long as they are open. read more

This review is for the new location at Timberland Town Center, Cedar Hills. We came here after a delicious meal at Kukai Ramen & Izakaya. What a mistake! We tried the napoleon and cannoli with a cup of coffee. The pastries were nothing but puff pastry filled with cream. Ava, you should not call the puff pastry with cream a cannoli which is incorrect. There is no ricotta, candied orange or chocolate chips in the cannoli. The layers of the napoleon was soggy and was shaped into a puff pastry with cream which is also incorrect. The coffee tasted burnt! We wasted our money here. There is a much better dessert selection at the Market of Choice. read more

The most impressive thing about Ava's is the location. The coffee is not that good and I was disappointed that they didn't have an herbal iced tea. They're also expensive! $3.55 for a 16 oz iced tea, $8.50 for a basic hummus plate. Seems really pricey for the quality and size. The last time I went there was only one person working and it literally took 20 mins for the iced tea and hummus plate to be ready. So wish the service and quality was better. read more

I have been to this location many times and the like others say its hit or miss on costumer service. I have had a 2 out of 10 good experiences here. I like the food and pastries but most of the time the place is dirty with paper napkins on the floor and crumbs on the table. I have never seen someone come out and clean when I have sat there for two hours. The coffee is not bad it's from Bridgetown roasters. There is only a few people there that have good coffee knowledge I wish coffee shops would teach more then how to steam milk and pump syrups. I hope someday they get it right because this is a beautiful location and nice place to relax outside. read more

I can't wrap my head around the tea prices for an in-house tea and not allowing customers to use the large in-house mugs for tea without having to pay 65 cents more for a large tea? It's water in a mug? I get it if I were leaving with a large to-go cup vs a small. Love the place but this always gets me. read more

I just came in for a coffee and tried their dark chocolate mocha and was absolutely delighted! It was one of the best mochas I have had so far. The location is really nice, with plenty of seating space and free wireless Internet. read more

I go there everyday. Coffee and atomsphere is good until the loud singers come at weekend nights. Internet sometimes become very slow when crowded. if you go afternoon it's almost perfect. Their mocha is special since they ground chocolate chip as you order the mocha unlike other coffee shops who uses syrup. read more

It's not like it's a bad place to hang out, but you don't feel very welcomed there. The people are rude the employees don't seem to care and over all feel of the place is just depressing. The music is subpar and there prices are way to high. There lucky there the only place open late or they would have nothing going for them. read more
