Update: The Internet here is very slow as I've stated below but I'm here now and it's completely dead. People with laptops are asking about it and a few people have had to pack up and leave. This has happened to me at the Hall location before as well. Keep this in mind if you will be using wifi for your work I have not had their coffee as I tend to come later at night to study and opt for tea instead. The tea is fine, comes from a tea bag but beware of the temperature. They have their water insanely hot so be very careful. This place gets packed with people studying or meeting up and even though the place is very large you might find yourself seatless. This place is open 24 hours which is great. There arnt many places to go to late in the night where you can get some work done or have a late night coffee or tea with friends. The wifi is free but dreadfully slow. They see a lot of traffic in 24 hours so it gets pretty messy. The floors I saw were very grimy and unkept. I usually set my bag on the floor without a care but I actually caught myself putting my bag on the table my last visit. Peering outside I also saw the outside seating areas floors were very unkept. You bus your own table here so it wasn't too surprising that when I got to my table it was dirty from the last person. I understand how busy the workers are and potentially understaffed but it would be nice to see a cleaner kept establishment considering nice it looks as well as the views it delivers. I'll still come back of course. It's just about the only place on the west side that offers 24 hour service. read more

After being notified about the 30 minute wait at La Provence sunday morning we decided to hit up our 2nd option, Ava's. My girlfriend and I met here so it is kinda special to us.. We were both disappointed. I have some concerns with them being able to survive especially with La Provence going in. The problem I have with Ava's is that they make the customers do 90% of the work and for a very average product yet they charge restaurant prices. We ordered a bagel with cream cheese, a small sandwich that we split, and a naked fruit smoothie drink. nearly $20. The sandwich isnt even accompanied by anything. No chips, no greens, nothing. At ava's: * you order at the counter * you have to walk up when you think your food is ready because they dont call your name and they definitely do not walk it out to you. * you bus your own table. SERIOUSLY??? I understand that La Provence is a restaurant and Ava's is a coffee shop that sells food. However, when a place like La Provence opens their doors, that would be a golden opportunity to make the necessary adjustments. La Provence's over flow crowd might actually benefit you as long as you do not disappoint them as was the case with us. We most likely wont return as long as things are the way they currently are. I think it would add a nice touch to at least run the food out to the customer, update/change prices, and spruce up the menu to make it more attractive and more of a value. read more

It's a shame I have to agree with all the other reviews regarding lackluster customer service. Some days it's decent and other days it is non existent. The coffee is good and the location in Progress Ridge is awesome especially in the Summer. I'm done trying to give this place chances. They better get a manager in there that cares before they close with so many other coffee shops in the area customers can pick from. Take a lesson from Dutch Bros up the road as they are always friendly and have great customer service. read more

Came here to kick start my Monday morning , where shall I start. 1. Walked in and my order was took from a young lady who was so miserable that you could tell she did not want to be there. 2. Coffee came first which tasted burnt. 3. Food came out next, we had ordered a bagel with cheese and tomato, the bagel duly arrived but with egg too. I explained to the young lady I did not want the egg and she just gazed at me not saying a word. I repeated myself and she told me I would have to re-order. 4. I was not going to repay for something that they got wrong and at that point I decided it was not even worth the risk re-ordering, especially since she had a face like a slapped arse. I have been to Ava many times at the downtown beaverton location which is great, But what happened today as put me off all of them. read more

The hours, cleanliness and location of Ava in Progress Ridge are great! If you're looking for somewhere to get together to just talk with a friend, this place will do it. Their barista's have never been very friendly above the normal "Hi what can I get you" and there coffee isn't very good. I usually grab a tea when I'm there. Also they have food which is great it it's actually pretty spendy when you can run across the parking lot to New Seasons and grab a sandwhich there for less. read more

Can you say this spot is being poorly managed?!? I went into this location for the first time... actually, this is the first time I have ever been to any AVA. Let me tell you... The shop was beautiful, obviously new. The countergirl did say hello and she said she would be with me. But I waited what felt like eternity, it was probably 5 minutes. She was making salads or sandwiches, I dont remember and I really don't care, cause it wasn't mine. But I left because I did not want to wait and some guy was talking really loud on his cellphone. The menu looks decent but there is more variety at other coffee shops AND you'll probably get better service at them too. The counterperson was nice, but poor girl was the only one taking care of all those people at the "prime" lunch hour. Where were all the managers to help??? The pastries and baked goods are amazing (homemade)! Go to this place on a nice day and enjoy the outdoor seeting and the view of the lake. The prices are a little high which keeps me from going more often - only worth it if I can sit outside and loiter a little...or maybe if they have good music on a weekend. read more

Seriously? I don't know what kind of amazing coffee shops people are finding out there, but this one is the most incredible I have had the fortune to encounter. Open 24 hours, huge variety of coffees and pastries, free wifi, patio with garage doors to open up the whole shop to the beautiful water fountain, plenty of seating (inside and out), music on Friday and Saturday night, servers who know your order if you frequent enough, free wifi, different soups daily, other non-sweet eats. My rating is based on my coffee shop experiences and Ava Roasteria progress ridge wins hands down. Starbucks doesn't even come close from an overall experience and Ava's brewed is much better. If coffee in all its varieties is the sole name of your game, maybe a quick drop or drive thru some of the other establishments is suitable. But for the overall experience Ava has my vote! To be fair, help me find another shop that provides all of this in the Beaverton area and I'm there. Would love to have another favorite. read more

Stopped in on Sunday for Italian cream sodas on this beautiful warm day in Beaverton! Love coffee shops/cafes that aren't big chains. You know what I mean. :) One of the yummiest Italian cream sodas I've ever had. We tried Raspberry, Peach, Cherry and Lime. All flavors were amazeballs. Cashier was friendly and our barista was fast! We also picked up some 'Zu-'Zu twists (half doz for about ~$2.50) which were like a flakey, pastry-like twist; simple, tasty, and a Canoli (~$4) dark choco covered, big bad boy. I thought these would be flakier but I've never had one before, so who knows. The cream that filled the canoli was light and not too sweet. The more I ate it, the more I enjoyed it. Ava Roasteria roasts their own coffee beans, but if you re looking for true third-wave coffee, keep searching. They have no single origin beans and only their house blend, which they also use as espresso. I had a double-shot of espresso, which is roasted in the old-school S'bucks style; burnt chocolate with a bitter edge that begs to be poured into milk to soften it up. The baristas pushed all the right buttons but they can't help this espresso become a stand-alone drink. The staff is very friendly and I wish they were serving third-wave coffee, as there is zero variety if you want straight-up coffee. Move along folks, no pour-overs here. read more

So it's a Friday night and I'm with my fiancee at my home and rather than playing video games I asked her if she wanted to go to the new Ava in Tigard and she was like, yah...lets go. So off we went, she had a coffee drink and I opted for a ice tea and strawberry cake, which seems to be a strange combination now that I think about it. She said that the coffee was alright, wasn't as great as the other Ava. The ice tea, was like any ice tea, however I was suprised that they didn't have any lemon wedges for the ice tea. I asked the person behind the counter if I could have a lemon wedge for my ice tea and she said they don't have any. Ok...well thats just messed up. As for the strawberry cake, well I'm not sure if it's a great idea to buy cake in the middle of the night. I'm sure the cakes there have been there since the morning. So it's all dry, with some parts being moist. The wi-fi was a bitch to work with. Maybe because there was so many people there, but it was pretty weak. read more

How I heard of this place: I found out about Ava's at the recommendation of my friends Tia & Alex, who recently relocated to the area from Seattle. Four of us joined them, after completing our first Warrior Dash, for a scrumptious lunch enjoyed outdoors on the patio. Type of cuisine: Sandwiches, salads and other deli fare, prepared fresh and made to order. Ambiance: A very comfortable, warm, inviting space, Ava's has a large interior with plenty of seating, floor-to-ceiling windows. A large patio space outside hosts a number of tables with umbrellas and spots in the sun, water fountains around, beautifying the space and the calming sounds of the peaceful neighborhood coffee shop and roasteria. Ava's is open 24 hours and offers free wi-fi. What I ordered: Being my first time at Ava's, I was happy to partake of the recommendation of my friends, and opted for Ava's Very Veggie ($6.50). I ordered half of the toasted sandwich on a ciabatta roll (made at a local bakery); garlic aioli, pesto, tomato, fresh mozzarella and spinach. On the side, I ordered half of a spinach salad ($1.00 more) with candied pecans, red onion and feta cheese, drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette. One dining companion ordered the full Very Veggie, toasted, with Ava's House Salad ($3.50), spring mix of greens, crumbled feta, dried cranberries and pecans. She also returned for a blended mocha ($4.75) with real caramel and real milk chocolate, topped with whipped cream. Another dining companion ordered the chicken cordon bleu sandwich ($7.50) - wheat bread, grilled chicken breast, ham, provolone, tomato, red onion and spring mix, toasted. He also enjoyed a strawberry smoothie, which was creamy and slightly sweet, but not sweetened. Our last eating dining companion ordered the chicken cordon bleu sandwich, toasted, on ciabatta, with a side Greek salad ($6.25) made with tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, feta and a Greek-style dressing. She also enjoyed a vanilla cappuccino blended beverage topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce. The two who introduced us to Ava's opted for coffee beverages. One ordered a large real milk chocolate mocha. The other, a blended Oregon chai and a cream cheese turnover ($2.95). What I loved: The salad was awesome! The sandwich, warm, fresh and full of flavor. The strawberry smoothie perfectly unsweetened and filling. The blended mocha sweet, with a rush of caffeine and a great dessert. Why I loved it: The company and enjoying food in the sun outdoors, peacefully and un-rushed made for a fabulous dining experience. Great location but some people just refuse to show up for work and earning customer satisfaction. This is our first time at the new Ava's location, and so far, I'm quite pleased. It's a beautiful day so they opened the giant garage style walls. Our coffee and teas were pretty tasty and I enjoyed the beautiful shrubberies, the fountain, and the nice views (for a city). The original Ava's is 3 minutes from my house and this one is 10. I drive out to this one every time because I like it a lot more. The location is nice! The service is hit or miss--some of the girls should really reconsider working with people! Sandwiches are good, coffee/cocoa is okay and the tea would be good (the quality is good) but they burn it every time. I love jasmine tea but it's meant to be in hot--not boiling hot water. When you burn green tea, it tastes super bitter especially as it cools. I like that all sizes of tea are the same price though, I just wish they'd stop burning what would otherwise be great tea. The sandwiches are good, slightly overpriced (as in, they aren't great) but the cakes and pastries are usually good. The fact that it is 24 hours and free wifi is great! I'd raise it a star if they'd stop burning my tea but that's been so consistent I cannot justify giving them any higher. read more

This place is so cozy and opening. The blended drinks are the best, must try! Any of the "white" (white mocha, white chocolate, etc.) blended drinks have like a gelato in it that makes them oh so smooth. I am not a frequent cafe goer, and I'm not fancy enough to have any clue what their snacks are with the hard to pronounce names. However, I like tasty sweets and drinks and I've had only a few of the snacks at other places before coming here. Sadly I do not like their drinks, my own personal tastes just don't. I've actually come here at least ten times over this past year and I have not taken one sip and said to myself it was good. Perhaps I'm not used to the roasting process, or the bitter taste, but I have tried many different drinks and I never finished it and thought it was worth my money. I'm a Starbucks, Dutch Brothers, tazo tea lover, so maybe I'm just not used to it. I have had the snacks and though a few of them I have never tried anywhere else, I can say I'm not really a fan. I think they make it and leave it sitting there until it sells, and being a 24 hours place I'm not sure how long mine sat there, but it should not have been that hard and flaky. Sometimes they're really greasy. The staff aren't overly friendly, I've come in and felt like I was bothering them. Especially at night, when only a few people were there. I like the location and the shop itself, and of course it's fabulous to have a 24 hour place down the road. But that's about where it ends for me. read more

The men's restroom appeared to have months of grime on the floor and the soap had been watered to the point of uselessness. It easily fits the stereotype of a 'gas station bathroom'. You can't go wrong with Ava. Especially this one. Located in the new shopping development next to Cinetopia, Big Al's, the fountain and the rock quarry turned lake that you can fish out of! The side facing the fountain has a wall that open up which is really nice in the summer. I like the drinks and the sandwiches are really good. The cake is my guilty pleasure, although I wish there was more variety. The pastries look amazing but have not yet tried them. The only real complaint I have is the lack of power outlets for plugging in laptops. read more

I come here pretty often for studying. I enjoy ordering the Dark & White chocolate Mocha. I suggest staying away from the Green Tea Latte, it is VERY bland. If I could make a change, I would somehow add more outlets. Sometimes you are stuck at tables without outlets and cannot do too much computer-wise. Oh and I wish the Progress Ridge location would be open later, even better 24/7 if possible. read more
