It was grand opening when I went and it was good because it was BOGO. It came with the Royal 9 Milk Tea 100% sweet. That was incredibly sweet, and the tea was very subtle. The specific one I ordered was the Jasmine Green Milk Tea that was 25% sweet. That was good and the tea flavor was strong and present. I've tried The Alley in Canada many years ago and it's nice to have another option but there are quite a few boba shops that are a few blocks away. It might be a bit competitive.

I am so glad to have checked out this gem! When you enter, you feel so welcomed and cozy with its nice interior design and decor. The staff are nice and welcoming also! I tried the ube brown sugar boba crème brulee drink and it was so good! There are so many other drinks to choose from, I can't wait to return to try the others, like their tiramisu drink!

The Alley is one of my favorite boba spots in town because of the variety of drinks they offer. They're different than the typical milk and fruit teas, and are very creative when it comes to experimenting with flavors and textures. I had been to The Alley in SE Portland, as well as in other states and even internationally, and it always impresses. My favorite, go-to drink is the lychee yogurt! It's refreshing, and uses handmade lychee jelly, rather than the store-bought rectangular jellies that boba shops usually use. This time around, I got to try a TON of their drinks as well as their croffles, and can say that they were all ones I would order again. I like my drinks extremely sweet, and will always get 100% sweetness, so am biased in that regard. If you prefer less sweet, I would recommend ordering a percentage or two down since the drinks' default is pretty high in sweetness. The space is beautiful and contemporary, and a spot I could see myself and friends hanging out at often. The staff is also super friendly and happy to answer any questions you have! Great new addition to Beaverton :)

Came back to try the crunchy tiramisu milk tea. Didn't realize it was a blended drink, but overall it was good. The tiramisu flavor is pretty light and not sweet enough to my liking. Once you mix the tiramisu foam on top all the little crunchies get really soggy. We also tried the Ube Taro drink, and that was actually pretty good. Lots of taro chunks throughout the drink. Service was great and friendly as usual.

So excited The Alley opened a location in the burbs! I first tried them in Hawaii so I was excited when I heard about this location opening near me. Came during soft opening week and was pleasantly surprised. There was no line and staff were friendly. The cafe itself has a warm, elegant ambiance. Love the furniture selection as well. We got the Ube taro brown sugar boba milk tea and the strawberry green tea with jelly. Both were delicious! I'd recommend getting less or half sweet for the green tea. The green tea jelly it comes with is homemade and so flavorful. Dangerous for my wallet that this cafe opened up near me because I will be visiting often!

My mom has been OBSESSED with the purple rice yogurt drink at The Alley so she finally dragged me there to try it. She was right! It's so good and fun to drink/eat. It comes with rice and jelly toppings so there's something to chew on after every sip. I also haven't seen this particular drink anywhere else in Beaverton or Portland so it's really one-of-a-kind and very unique. The interior of the place is really warm and inviting. There are plenty of comfy seating options, which is much appreciated as a lot of cafes have a very rough decor with no cushion accents these days.

Super cute interior with lots of seating! Drinks were made super quickly as there was no wait. Tried their highly recommended ube brown sugar crème brûlée milk tea and it was great! Perhaps a tad too sweet, so next time I'll be adjusting the sugar.

I love love LOVE this place. Their Ube milk tea is to die for. Clean, great service & very cozy. Staff is kind! I ordered incorrectly and staff was happy to re-make my drink and explain how I could order it properly in the future.

Hands down one of the worst experiences I've had at a boba shop. I ordered a croffle, and what they gave me was an absolute disaster completely melted. It was literally inedible. How do you even mess up a croffle this badly? For the prices they charge, this is unacceptable. The boba drink was mediocre at best, and honestly, I couldn't even enjoy it after that mess of a croffle Save your money and go somewhere that actually knows how to serve food. This place is a joke

There are two kiosks for easy ordering. We walked in just a couple of minutes after they opened on a Monday and were the first customers inside. House Blend Pearl Milk Tea, 10% Sweet, 30% Ice w/ Boba ($6.25) - I'll start by saying that 10% is not nearly enough for this drink, totally unlike the Lynnwood location where anything over 10% sweet is cloyingly sweet for me. I ended up asking for a small cup of syrup on the side and titrated the drink until I thought it was sweet enough. My guess is that it took until around 50% sweet. With that out of the way, the flavor is identical to what I've had before. Rich malty taste with plenty of body. It's a very solid milk tea. This hechalou only has sugar syrup soaked boba, not a choice of honey or brown sugar boba as in Lynnwood. My guess is this is one of the reasons why the sweetness level is so different. Probably honey and/or brown sugar soak adds more sweetness to the drink than whatever soak they use here. The boba is a little firmer than Lynnwood and isn't as flavorful. Still miles ahead of most boba shops in the US though. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 Boba Rating: 4.5/5 Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea, 10% Sweet, 30% Ice w/ Boba ($7.05) - Again, this one isn't sweet enough and I had to add more sugar. The drink itself is strongly flowery, again very consistent with the other location. It's a very solid drink. Milk Tea Rating: 4.5/5 This location of Hechalou still serves some top tier drinks. I'll just have to remember the next time I visited to get 50% sweet rather than 10%. Bathrooms - Single unisex room.

The matcha flavor is very earthy and leans more bitter than sweet, which I personally enjoyed. However, if you're not a fan of strong earthy matcha flavors, you may want to try a different waffle option instead. The tea was really good as well. I ordered mine with regular boba, but I've heard their jelly is actually the highlight, so I'll definitely have to try that next time. The cafe seems really popular with families and is also a great spot to hang out with friends. If you prefer not to order at the counter, they also have kiosks available for self-ordering.
