Best tasting bubble teas IMO in Chicago. Better than what you get can get at the mall. I believe it is because they use a specific type of powder formula. I do know they have a gazillion flavors that you can intermix. Their chocolate peanut butter tastes like a Reese's. sooo good! You can ask for extra tapioca or none! I used to enjoy them but I read some stuff online about the production of tapioca balls and it's a huge turn off. No worries though- the drinks are still amazing without them! read more

Our apartment was literally not "viable" for us internet-dependent human beings in the year of 2015. We had no power, no way to surf the web, no ability to catch up the Cubs baseball, and weren't fond of living in the dark. Therefore, we sneaked out to get some iced bubble teas. I found Avlanche Bubble Tea on Yelp, for it opens late until 2300 hour on the weekdays. They have a massive menu. I narrowed down to the fruity options and went with the mango passion fruit. On the other hand, making bubble tea flavors "capitalistic" apparently gave hubby a huge headache! He just couldn't make up his mind on what he wanted. Speaking of rendering great customer service, the young lady at the register should have jumped in and made her recommendation(s). However, she just stood still. Come on, girl! Don't you hate indecisive people when you're dealing with customers? Fortunately, there was no one behind us at that time. I took hubby out of the misery by shouting out "peach berry" and got this dilemma out of our way! While their tapioca pearls were slightly "tough" to my liking, the drinks were absolutely ice-cold and delicious! They have super comfy sofa, appropriate air-conditioning, and working free wifi. I can easily hang out here for hours and perhaps fall asleep (zZ...)! Avalanche Bubble Tea is located at the commercial plaza on the corner of Dempster and Ferris in Morten Grove. I came here on a Friday evening..and let me just say... Parking is sooo hard to find because it's located next to a Hookah Bar (apparently a lot of ppl go there--you'll see a line out the door) and some ppl choose to take 2 parking spots (err..)...so don't drive around aimlessly in the parking lot trying to find a spot near the raccoon (yes you will randomly spot a raccoon or a couple raccoons near the trash area) .. but just find some street parking in the neighborhood close by... Got the strawberry, mango, watermelon smoothie here. I somehow tasted all of the fruit which was a surprised if you mixed some bold flavors, you would expect one of them to fade away. It's a nice bubble tea location. Came here at 8pm and it was crowded. You know the place was good if there is a crowd on a late Sunday night. The place was dimly light with some abstract painting on the side, with some contemporary furnitures. The menu was pretty easy to read. everything was written in neon color chalk(exceptional penmanship) Even have a Wikipedia definition of Boba on at the cashier. Great Bubble place here. They have wide variety of different choices. The main two I always get is Mango, Pineapple or if I'm having a sweet tooth for chocolate I get the chocolate cereal (really does taste like that) The parking area is little annoying if it's like a Friday or Saturday night expect a lot of people. Parking in front of the place can be tricky but there is plenty of street parking and parking on the side of the strip mall as well. This is a great place to come with a group of friends or you can grab a bubble tea to-go. They have plenty of comfy couches inside, and the line can get long during busy hours. They have TONS of flavors and many different combinations. Sometimes, it is almost too many flavors to choose from, which is probably a good problem to have :) Also, the guy who works there is super friendly and is always willing to offer his opinion on great mixtures of flavors. I really don't understand the high reviews. The bubble tea here is just sugar. I ordered the peach and strawberry and it was so sweet it left a syrupy coating in my mouth. Only good things to be said about this place. Walking in you know it's going to be good since the place is always alive. Especially weekend nights lines reach to the door. Just because the lines are long does not mean the wait is. The staff does their job really well and the lines move along and before you know it you have your delicious bubble tea. I wanted a cherry pineapple bubble tea, but they were out of cherry, so I got Honeydew Pineapple which was perfectly sweet and fantastic. I've been going here since I was in high school, and it's been such a place of comfort and nostalgia because my friends, my family, and I love the drinks here. Tonight was such a huge disappointment, though. The cashier got my order wrong, and I didn't notice until we left. We came back, and I told the cashier what happened, but he told me something along the lines of, "there's nothing we can do about it." I told him that it did not taste like the way I remembered purple orea tasted like, and he told me that purple Oreo is usually darker than taro. However, I told him that the taro I ordered was the same color as the purple Oreo. Then, I told him that I ordered a drink with no tapioca. Finally, he relented and told me he was going to take the drink back and take the boba out? How are you supposed to take the boba out without decreasing the amount of tea inside? Also, PLEASE realize that we are in the midst of a pandemic. As someone who works in fast food, we DO NOT take anything back into the kitchen because of the risk of contamination. My drink was out of the kitchen, and god knows who could have drank from it. It's okay if you throw my drink out and remake it, but please for the love of god, be more careful. One saving grace for this place was the young lady who gave me my drink. She was kind, patient, and apologetic about her coworkers' mistakes. I wish I had tipped her, and I wish the best for her. The food industry isn't about not making mistakes. People make mistakes and that's natural. Wow, lines out the door on a Saturday night around 11pm! It is obviously the place to be in Morton Grove. Extensive menu with multiple substitution options. I had a mango lychee milk tea which was good but a bit overly sweet. I enjoyed my friend's peach lychee and pineapple coconut (pina colada) milk teas more. Living in vegas, I've been able to try a fair amount of bubble tea. I wouldn't call avalanche top of the line but I like it better than liquid fusion up north. The workers were overwhelmed trying to get the line down, I would consider adding more staff. Lots of fun games including What Do You Meme?
