Been to area Rex for nearly two years for their drinks! I really enjoy their bubble tea options and their prices are a LOT more affordable than other spots around Skokie and Lincolnwood. I would for sure recommend coming for a boba date or just to grab some after work. The service has always been good and friendly! I love the decor in the store and their wonderful brown sugar smell as you walk into the boba shop.

Came here on a random week day during enough time in between lunch and dinner for the first time. Luckily was able to find parking. There is also no line inside and lots of tables open and semi, cleaned to be able to sit at. The menu is pretty extensive with lots of different options for add-ons or at N's which is great to see. The girl working was very patient and very nice What is weird is that where you order is? Also, the drink pick up is however, they have set it up so that you cannot see any drink being made One of the drinks we ordered was a lychee drink with no boba and unfortunately, you can tell that there is no fresh lychee or anything even coming out of a can. It is definitely some kind of a powder mix. When I think about the competition of Boba within the town of Skokie and neighboring towns, I really think they need to step up their ingredients in quality overall. However, I do think the pricing is slightly more affordable.

    T. Rex lived at the very end of the Late Cretaceous period, which was about 90 to 66 million years ago. Tea Rex, however, seems to be alive and well and thriving in Skokie judging by the fan art on the walls. I stopped back into Tea Rex after a few (not million) years and was surprised to see how bright and lively the space was, with so many different iterations of the Dino on the walls. I tried my favorite taro smoothie with boba and it was delicious as always, cool and nutty, with nicely chewy boba. The place was empty when I arrived and my order was up fast. As I left, I saw other customers entering the lot. This is probably a dino-mite spot later in the day. Am I really going to end this review with a pun? You bet Jurassican!

Whenever I'm in the burbs, I usually swing by here to get my bubble tea fix. Miss the walk through window during the pandemic but the inside is cute and service is still very speedy. Love that my go-to taro milk tea is customizable in terms of sweetness (I usually go 25 or 50%)z The tapioca is always fresh here and not rubbery and super chewy (in a bad way) like other spots I've been to and the tapioca comes with the drink and is not an add-on charge. Definitely recommend if you're in the burbs, it's down the way from Old Orchard mall.

It really knows its identity as a bubble tea cafe... not trying to be something totally different - but rather, serving out consistent Bubble Tea. There are choices for milk teas, fruit blends, teas, etc with the requisite choices of boba (or none at all). We've finally been able to get inside the cafe, since we've only been on the outside window since the pandemic. The drinks are good and consistent and the pricing is fair. The interior is very cute and colorful and plastic. The decor (branding) is on point. The Rex is a great mascot! The location is kinda isolated. As if the rest of the adjacent strip mall was supposed to be developed, but never really happened. The parking lot seems to have the required minimum parking stalls, but is arranged so oddly that no spot is a "good parking spot".

I ordered the non-dairy iced milk tea with 100% sweetness and tapioca balls and non-dairy iced milk tea 100% sweetness with brown sugar and tapioca balls. I actually think their milk tea is pretty decent. I can definitely taste the black tea in it which is a good sign. The workers made our drinks relatively fast and were pleasant. The inside of the cafe was super cute and they also have WiFi !

Service was very quick. My daughter says, "amazzzzzzzing!" Ordered five boba drinks, all are great. Ambiance is still super cute and full of trexxes. :)

We've been here a few times, and we're never disappointed. The drinks are great, lots of choices, and service is quick. The atmosphere is cheery and fun. I guess I've been drinking milk tea long enough for the flavor I'm looking for to be called "classic," but seriously, the classic milk tea here is terrific. Really good flavor, and you can choose how sweet you want it. There are a lot of other drink options, and our whole family loves trying them all. Personally, I'll be back for more of the milk tea. :)

We've been going to TeaRex for the last year and this is my all time favorite fruit bubble tea in the Chicagoland area. We ordered a grapefruit tea with lychee jelly and peach fruit tea with lychee jelly and tapioca. Super friendly owners, great and quick service, and the interior is adorable playing off the tearex theme.

My husband and I were out in the Skokie area when we had a craving for bubble tea. We searched on the Yelp app and found TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe. I love the dinosaur theme. They had so many Tyrannosaurus Rex decorations all over the restaurant. We ordered the cookies and cream shake, ice coffee, and mango smoothie with boba. The drinks were made quickly and tasted very good. I loved being able to sit in the cafe and talk with our friend. When we are in the area, we will definitely come back to TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe!

    Sherwin C.

Cute bubble tea shop in the Skokie area with a T-rex theme that is prominently displayed all along the walls and furniture. The choice of drinks here definitely skews towards less adventurous options and is actually probably targeting the casual drinker with options familiar to the American palate. With that said, the drinks here are satisfying, prepared quickly, and reasonably priced. Parking isn't too difficult and the vibe makes it an enjoyable spot to enjoy a conversation.

Stopped in for a quick boba tea and ended up getting the Taro Milk Tea with Lychee. It was perfectly sweet and I love the jelly texture. I love that the milk teas are automatically dairy free! The cashier was very helpful when I asked him if the combination I chose would be a strange mix, he kindly assured me people order the same thing as me all the time. We went on a slow day, the inside was very clean and the colors of the decor (and outside of the building) were bright and fun. I found this fitting, as going for a boba tea should never be a drab affair! Next time I'm in Skokie I'll definitely be popping by (no pun intended.)

I loved this place!!!! The drinks were amazing, the interior was super cute, and the service was pretty quick! The lid of the bobas is cute and overall, this experience was great!

Ask the Community - TeaRex Bubble Tea Cafe

Do they use dairy in their bubble tea?

I am not sure but the best thing to do is CALL THEM when they open. Maybe just the milk teas have dairy but not the others. Not sure.

Are the levels of sweetness customizable for milk teas?

Yes, you can customize the amount of sugar and ice. I have a pretty low tolerance for sugar so I usually request that there be no sugar added.

Do they have any non-caffeinated tea?

Our bubble teas aren’t caffeinated unless you order coffee/tea flavors.

    Do they offer alternative/nondairy milks?

I believe they do. They have usual blended ice blended bubble tea in fruit flavors. Also green tea based fruit teas.

Do they take credit cards? What kinds?

Not exactly sure, but I used my visa.

Ranked number two at the time, it became an instant bookmark for me being that I absolutely love boba tea drinks. And honey, it was a must visit once I discovered the Oreo Shake which literally made my mouth salivate! Thanks to Ashley S, who shared a picture of it via yelp. I visited post getting off of work prior to driving towards Edens Expressway; its location sits not too far from downtown Skokie, an area that I frequent. I honestly feel like you have to be in search for Kandy Crush Melt because it sits off of Oakton St, yet on Kenton Ave. In my opinion, there needs to be some sort of signage off of Oakton Ave that would capture the interest of individuals driving along Oakton St. Even though I knew what I wanted to order before visiting, I took my time looking at the menu, just to confirm the items. And when I was ready, the employee took my order, and I ended up ordering the Oreo Shake as visited for. As I waited, I was given a free sample of Mini Pancake Bites which were freaking delicious! I finished every bit of what was given because I had not ever tasted anything as delicious as that Nutella syrup. Immediately after finishing off the Mini Pancake Bites, I began taking sips of the Oreo Shake which I must say looked wonderful! Eek! Brain freeze! Tehehe, these taste buds of mine were surged with that delicious Oreo taste as anticipated. From then on, every sip was a mouthful of joy as I drove, resulting in a slight grin that not even traffic on the Expressway could break, I kid you not. There was a point while driving along the Expressway that I questioned if I would be able to finish it off; thinking to myself that it was good that I ordered a medium size Oreo Shake rather than a large because that shake, good Lord; the medium was definitely enough. Being that I had a great experience, I would gladly order from Kandy Crush Melt again when in the Skokie area. For future orders, I can surely see myself ordering via yelp in order to make it an in-and-out visit while on the go for sure. My only complaint is that it had a strange, unpleasant smell inside (we were there in the evening during the weekend of April 25th). Asked for a white chocolate mocha, mango filled crepe and chicken spring rolls. Wanted to purchase by finishing off a gift card with value but the clerk wasn't very knowledgeable. Talking to counter staff worried me a bit. He mumbled something eluding to the lack of ingredients for the drink and suggested boba? Hot drink but a cold drink? They offer so many items. Too many tbh. I'm curious how many they can accomplish properly. Their stand is covered from wall to wall in menu advertisements. Every bare space is occupied with some mention and as is, they lack some key ingredients to make them. The order took about twenty minutes since the clerk, I believe, was alone. The drink was definitely not white chocolate mocha but was probably toasted hazelnut. Also the clerk made it much too sweet. The crepe was basic. Decently prepared but with canned, diced mango pieces and smearable whipped cream. That could have used an additional sweetener. Heck, mango jelly of some kind would have upped the flavor & appeal. Afterwards, I really wished they could have put this on that gift card instead. It blows that their hot drink was average but for the cost you're given a large size. They sell boba tea and charge an extra for the tapioca. Why advertise them as "boba tea" if you're going to charge extra for the boba? If anything just raise the price and put it in the listed price instead of asking me if I wanted boba in my BOBA tea. Just confusing for no reason. They also use powders (which was not surprising) but not very good. My drink was extremely sweet and had an artificial taste. I didn't even finish the drink and tossed the rest. Since we hadn't been here, we decided to check it out. This restaurant is located off Dempster St. in a small plaza. They serve a variety of dosas and Indian street food dishes. They also offer Indian desserts, Indian beverages, Boba teas, and Yemeni Adani Tea. The pricing is reasonable. We ordered a Ghee Roasted Dosa, and extra spicy Mysore Masala Dosa, a Spring Dosa, Mumbai Pav Bhaji, and two Adani teas. The food was served promptly. The food is served in sturdy disposable food trays along with plastic ware and hot beverages are served in coffee shop like to-go, small size (paper) coffee cups. The tea was scalding hot as it was freshly prepared. I had to let it cool off. The plastic lid of the cup was tightly fitted and given how hot the cup was, it was hard to take the plastic lid off. The lid was hot along with the cup. They had the hot cup sleeves but they were too big for their small tea cups. The tea was nice. All the dosas were tasty. We liked them. They had decent flavor and texture. They were a bit thicker than the dosas from other south Indian restaurants we have eaten at. That wasn't a problem to us. The spice level for my dosa was good. The accompaniments with the dosas of sambar, coconut chutney, and tomato chutney, for dosa dipping purposes, were nice. We really liked the coconut chutney (w/ cashews) and tomato chutney (w/ peanuts). They were flavorful. The sambar had a nice flavor (from spices & veggies) but texture wise it could've been better. It needed to be a bit thicker. The Pav Bhaji (bread with mixed veggies in a gravy) had a decent taste but it needed to be thick with some body from the usual veggies in it. The Pav (Indian bread) for the Bhaji was really good. Our experience was nice. The service was decent. We were the first customers after they opened at 12:30 pm but a short time later, the restaurant got busy. If I am in the area again, I would go back. Overall, 3.5 stars.
