Johnnie Schmid is the BEST! I went to Avalanche on several occasions trying to figure out which bike to buy. Johnnie really listened to how I ride and what I wanted in a bike. He took me adn both bikes on long test rides. I was torn between two stryles of bikes and he helped me figure it out. I also appreciated his "non aggressive"sales technique. He was way more helpful than any other person I have worked with when buying a motorcycle. Plus, Avalanche is just a great place. They service my bikes and give me good ideas on riding. POST TO HD FORUM Hello all. This is my "first post"!!! At 58, I have had my MC license endorsement since the age of 16. Owned many Mc's but am now in the market to purchase my first (new) HD. Looking to purchase the Ultra Limited Low, as I'm vertically challenged. In Denver, CO, we have multiple HD Dealers to choose from. The closest and biggest happens to be Avalanche Harley Davidson. Golden Colorado. They have recently moved into their New Facility and Building.....Very Nice, as you would expect. There is a new owner as of approx. 3 to 4 years ago. """"New Owner, New Building"""" one would think they are looking for New Clients and continued Business???? Having a previous Sales & Marketing & Distribution background from Corporate America, I have personally managed up to twelve salespeople at one time. Understanding the turnover in motive salespeople, and not wanting to deal with a "newbie", I chose to email one of the "Sales Managers" at Avalanche HD that is was looking to purchase my first (new) HD, and included all my personal information, along with a detailed & extremely "fair" proposal for "my" new Ultra Limited Low. Confirming with the Dealership over the phone, "this" Sales Managers email address, I emailed him my detailed "proposal" to purchase the bike. FOUR Days have passed, and while I have called two of the four days to confirm "he" was in and working those days, have NOT heard anything back whatsoever, not even an acknowledgement of receipt of my proposal??????? Earlier today, I called again to confirm he was working, and as "he" was tooooo busy to take my phone call (to ask if he received my information), I was asked if they could "take a message" for him to return my call. I left my information, and as of tonight, 6 hours after living my information, I still have not received any communication whatsoever!!!!!!!!! Having been a successful senior manager of a $15,000,000.00 in annual sales, multi-state sales and distribution business, I am totally flabbergasted the lack of professionalism from Avalanche Harley Davidson of Golden Colorado! I only wish I knew who owned this franchise, as I truly understand that you sometimes don't know "you have a problem, until your customers tell you that you have a problem", and have to believe the owner would not stand for such unprofessionalism and incompetence!!! Has anyone else experienced this type of treatment from any Harley Davidson Franchise anywhere on the Planet???????? I am totally, totally, appalled! My 82 year old (veteran) neighbor just sold his 2015 Heritage and Purchased a New Indian Roadmaster, and truly hopes I end up with one also!!! My Fiancé and I had spoken with someone over the phone about a bike we saw listed for sale on the website. The rep we spoke with invited us to a Customer Appreciation event on Saturday night (2/29/2020) we were stoked to come in and test ride and see what all the fun was about that the rep mentioned to us. We made our way down all the way from Vail to be extremely disappointed in the way we witnessed an Employee of Avalanche treating a young girl who was in line in front of us waiting to get food. She very rudely and very loudly, with no regard to any of us in line, walked up and pointed at her and said "I know I don't know you, but get your ass off of my damn table." The girl looked shocked and said she was sorry and she was just leaning against it and didn't mean any harm. The young girl proceeded to get up and walk across the room to a high-top table looking extremely embarrassed. I was appalled at the entire interaction; I lost my appetite and my interest to purchase a bike from this place after watching this happen. I remained in line listening to her mock and laugh and say she doesn't give a "F***" to the two girls that were serving food, who I assumed worked there as well. I walked away and flagged down someone wearing a name tag and asked if he knew the names of the women working under the stairs. He let me know that the tall red head was Sonya and she was the Event Coordinator and the other two were Angels who worked the special events. I don't want to do business at an establishment where someone who's in a position of power just disrespects a fellow customer. That is no way to speak to anyone, but to admit that you don't know someone and to just humiliate them in front of others is terrible. I can't imagine her being a nice person on a daily basis so we chose to walk out of there without the bike we had our hearts set on. Hopefully this kind of behavior doesn't happen regularly and they can coach this Sonya on how to deal with the general public! read more

Worst Harley dealership in Colorado. I was looking for a good used Harley. I found a few I liked, but the salesman refused to give me a price on them. He would only give me payment plans. I told him I wanted to pay in cash, but still no price was given. I also had a $100 gift certificate from Freedom Harley, that they refused to honor. When they bought out Freedom, they took on the assets and liabilities from Freedom, so the card should have been honored. I will never spend one dime at Avalanche Harley. read more

I went to look at several of the bikes I seen on line on Sunday around 2 pm, the person that was on duty was not there, I was one of three people in the dealership, I was asked if I needed help, I said I wanted to look at several used bikes, the parts guy stated we don't sell bikes on Sunday, and I said all I wanted to do was look. I can look and he stated no one was there to help, some people are truly. Lazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When it was freedom I had great service now Avalanche not very impressed. I have to say that buying a Harley from Avalanche was an event! It was a great experience from start to finish. I did most of the deal over the phone but everytime I called they remembered who I was and not just some guy on the other end that might buy a bike. They spoke to me like I was a person and not just a sale for the books. I feel that if I'm going to sign my life away for several years worth of wages than they should pay attention to that and they really did. When I got down to the store Niki started me on the Ticket To Ride and it was like an actual ride, taking me around the joint and introducing me to folks in the different departments. Everyone was not only polite but sincerely friendly. If I were closer I would go to them for all my needs but I'll settle for writing a review. Seriously, it was a great experience and even though I was a little out of it from lack of sleep, Evan in financing was really patient. Explaining, and sometimes re-explaining, some of the details of the deal. I would not hesitate to get a bike here again. read more

Going here shopping for my new bike reminded me of that bad car-dealership parody commercial, the one where the hapless car shopper guy emerges from the sales manager's office badly in need of a haircut and a shave, jumping with joy as he sees sunlight, and calling his wife to inquire about his kids, whom apparently he hadn't seen in quite awhile. A humorous example, but a totally spot-on comparison to my experience at this Harley dealership. If you go here bring snacks, stamina, and the number to other Harley dealerships you can go to after you get fed up with this place. Lots of hyperactive guys with clipboards and pens, alternating between darting around and "bro-ing" me. Wife and I were getting hungry and grumpy as we waited at a small table while our hyperactive sales guy went to get some other manager, and then some other manager. I never did get an answer to my question about the actual cost of the 2014 Street Glide I wanted, but I did get way too much unsolicited information about "my low monthly payment." After they ran my credit, of course. I got fed up and left. I went straight to another Harley dealership and bought my new Street glide. read more

These have to be some of the shystiest sales tactics I've ever experienced in my life!!! Say your getting a great deal and when you go compare it to others prices for the exact same thing you'll see that they pride themselves on ripping people off... This includes everything they sell and I do mean EVERYTHING!!!! They can't even hold on to any decent employees for long because their obviously just as shitty to them as they are their customers, that punk Harry in sales is the worst of all. They have the worst customer service I've ever experienced! Dropped my bike off for some work and a week later I return only to find my bike sitting in the exact same place as I parked it a week earlier! Why should it take 3 days to service and Dyno a brand new bike? Must be some lacking of skills issue in the service department... If their "VIP" status customers are treated like this I have to wonder how they treat people without the "VIP" package! Why put up with the drama of a soap opera when u can just change the channel? Great atmosphere, great people an all around fun time. The new dealership is great huge building and a great selection of bikes, parts and clothing. The best part is there's always an event or gathering, with food, drinks and sometimes even let be music. In the summer month the Thursday bike nights are a blast with a huge crowd. Easy access in and out with plenty of parking for bikes and cares. So if your looking for something to do check out their schedule and stop by!! I have had the rudiest customer service from the cashier at this particular store. My family and I have been repeated customer's for several years. Everyone seems to know us and welcome us back but the cashier ALWAYS seems to have attitude and leaves me walking out of this store not wanting to come back each time. BEWARE!. I purchased a bike a Avalanche HD and my entire experience was a nightmare. Promised a service plan at a certain discounted price when I made the purchase. When I came back after 1000 miles to purchase this plan the price doubled. When I complained to the general manager, he got in my face and was threatening. In hindsight the staff are coerced to be overly nice and with an aggressive sales pitch. Service was less than stellar too, they lost some parts and took several weeks to find. I ride the extra miles to Sun or Rocky Mountain HD, I urged you to do the same. read more

I didn't personally go in to buy a harley, I already have a great bike, but my dude needed a new one. He first went in without me and I know how he can be... If you have ever watched "Curb your enthusiasm" you know that Larry David can be an asshole and a penny pincher. My dude loves this show, and sometimes "Larry David's" people and although it's impressive when it works, it's embarrassing to be around and frustrating for anyone who has to deal with it. They were extremely accommodating to him and to me when I went in with him the second time. The whole process felt like it took forever, but maybe i felt that way because i wasn't buying and was just sitting there for hours, I kinda wish they had a spouse waiting room or something for us poor folk. Sitting on the concrete outside can kind of suck. haha The whole experience was overall great. It seems like a lot of people just come to hang out for a little bit which is a sign to me that they are doing business right. I got a shirt out of the deal, i wish for how much money you spend, you get to choose any shirt instead of these stock shirts. the only ones they had were v-necks and fit really weird to ride in, no offense, but i don't want my boobs catching that much wind when i'm riding. Overall the experience was awesome. They were very patient and understanding and it really couldn't be any smoother. read more

Worst Harley dealer in the nation. Was looking to a buy a preowned bike where service records indicated previous customer just spent $1,000 on a 15K service weeks ago. He had put 40 miles on the bike since the service. Avalanche indicated they charge a conditioning fee of $899 on all used bikes. I pointed out the 15K had just been done and nothing was needed. Did not matter. In addition, they charge a $499 documentation fee for the privilege of buying a bike from them. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

I drive by Avalanche daily on my way to work in Lakewood from Broomfield. Stopped in a few times and with their continued calls and me wanting to make a deal on a 2015 I really wanted, I got my bike. Ended up not being such a great deal by the time they added all the other things in that the finance guy sold me (sucker stamp on my head). I LOVE my bike .. I'll never set foot in Avalanche again. They called me constantly and emailed me about completing surveys and asking that I rate them positively, which I did initially. Then I get a call from one of their female staff checking in and .. oh by the way there is a recall on your bike when can you bring it in. I did some research and found that the recall was not new, it had been active for months. I was furious that I drove off the lot with a recalled bike part (fuel pump) that has been noted to cause accidents and thus the reason for the recall. I said that to the person calling and she agreed that it should have been checked before I left and couldn't explain how that "slipped by." Then she kept asking when I could bring it in and to schedule something with service. I'm sorry but you want me to drive my bike from Broomfield to Lakewood (23 miles) with a part that may malfunction and cause me to crash because YOU didn't take care of an open recall before I left? You couldn't check that but you can send me email after email after email asking me to bring friends in to buy bikes and stop by to get new things for my bike? I realize now that Avalanche didn't and doesn't give two craps about me and just wanted my money.. I found another HD dealership closer to my house and guess what .. they picked my bike up from my house because that was covered as part of the recall. Never got that offer from HD, just when can you bring an unsafe bike back to us. Steer clear from this place ... read more

This is a horrible way to treat someone new to riding. I went in there wanting some genuine advice on what a good bike would be for someone who has never rode nor knew how to ride a bike. Instead I got pressure after pressure to buy a bike that I didn't even know how to get home!! Then I gave them my contact info so that I could be informed of deals coming up. They called me every day since I left with deals, or events, or whatever. They called during work, they called during while I was driving home in a snow storm - didn't even phase them when I said I was driving in snow!! I'm fine with emails, but phone call day after day!? Nope. Their performance has altered how I will treat Harely from now on. I probably won't ever go into a dealership again. read more

One of the best dealerships in the country I've ever been to! There are so many bikes! As soon as I walked inside I was greeted by several people, all with big smiles on their faces! One of the friendly salesmen showed me around the showroom... Then he brought me to a whole other showroom of bikes... I thought that had to be it, but we walked through a doorway and there was an entire building filled with Harleys! I was in heaven! I wasn't in the market to be buying a new bike, but I did head over to MotorClothes where the girls were very helpful in helping me pick out some new shirts and a purse. I brought my bike in to service in May, i had the oil changed, battery, abs sensor all changed. Service writer did a great job at helping with my extended warranty. The part that pisses me off, is either the detail boy or the tech that fixed my bike took the liberty of dragging a hose across my bike and polishing my denim paint!! I thought maybe it was a grease mark at first Because the detail job was mediocre at best. It was not! I then Brought it back for a different issue within a week and told the service writer that whoever worked on it was dragging their hose across my tank! He then replies with, " i didn't see it on the walk around"... yeah you didn't, because your detail boy can't wash a bike, and i was obviously too trustful with you and your company to watch after my VERY EXPENSIVE, NEW HARLEY, with 1500 miles on it!!! I'm considering not even finishing my service contract, because the miscare and damage will be more expensive! The sales team even treated me like garbage last time i was in! FRUSTRATING! I have tried for the past week to get a price for a used bike from these people. Eventually I gave up and made an offer. I heard nothing back. I withdrew my offer and am committed to shopping elsewhere. It is amazing that a dealership won't give out prices to customers. Terrible experience. I have a 2005 Ultra that I bought at Freedom Harley (predecessor to Avalanche). Freedom was pretty good. Avalanche is horrible. It took nearly a month to get my service complete on my 2005 Ultra - 20K service, replace fuel gauge, tighten up oil cooler, fix radio. They stuck me with $109 labor charge for diagnosing each of the obvious items (instead of just replacing the fuel gauge, radio, etc.) on top of the labor to replace the items. Ridiculous and abusive. They never called when the bike was finally complete. And the clincher: they refused to install a new tire on my other bike, a 1995 Heritage. "It's too old - we only work on 2002 and newer". WTF? A Harley dealer won't replace a tire on a Harley? Take your bike and your money elsewhere. read more

My Harley-Davidson has been in there so call service department for over 4 months after thousands of dollars later they still can't fix my motorcycle basically they played the guessing game on what they thought could the problem but payment after payment they still couldn't fix it and lied to me the whole time I'm not very happy at all and they continue to lie to me. read more

By far the worst dealership I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with, buy a NEW bike and the crankcase comes apart within the first 45 days it's... we'll get ahold of you after we move and get settled into the new location. I'm sorry but maybe there should be a contingency plan to continue to serve existing customers. The service writer ,Jake, was absolutely as helpful as he could be and a pleasant guy to work with however that didn't solve any issues because "they're moving" . I bought new for reliability as it is my primary form of transportation and I'm tired of working on old Harley's , but quite frankly , as it appears that it was their tech that caused the problem that eventually led to the catastrophic failure, I can't say that I'd want them to work on it again anyway....I've been on Harley's since I was twelve with starting my mx250 however this experience has done it for me....anyone else remember the amf days...done with Harley! H-D brought their demo fleet to Avalanche and I registered on their website to check out a new bike. The event was to start at 10 am. Someone from the dealership called just after I completed the registration and let me know I needed to wear a long sleeve shirt or a jacket and bring a helmet. "No problem, see you at 10" I said. I was asked to show up 1/2 hour early. Again, no problem. At 9:30 the truck is there, the bikes are there and they're setting up a tent and some tables. At 10:30, there are guys wiping down bikes with micro fiber cloths. At 10:45 they bring out a portable gas pump to put gas in the bikes. At 11:00 I'm so pissed off, I just leave. I understand that the event was staged by the factory, not the dealership, but the whole thing was a cluster, and one thing I absolutely despise is people being disrespectful of other people's time. I took time away from work to go have a bit of fun and check out H-D's new bikes. Checking out a new bike should be fun, but this experience left a really, really bad impression. I thought about having one of the Avalanche guys ride my bike and give me an idea of what they'd do on trade towards a newer bike. Needless to say, I put that idea out of my head. Nobody from the dealership seemed to have any idea what the event people were doing. If you're going to have an event at your dealership, you would think you'd want people to at least have a positive experience. The demo fleet guys did the exact opposite for me. I was so angry by the time I left, I probably won't be going to Avalanche, or any H-D dealer for anything anytime soon, if ever. Again, the demo fleet operators aren't Avalanche employees to the best of my knowledge, but they probably soured me on ever buying anything from any H-D dealer. Sorry Avalanche but those guys cost you a customer. I've bought jackets, boots, shirts, hats and other H-D stuff there, but no more. I hope someone from the dealership tells the demo guys that they screwed the pooch for them. read more

From the moment we walked through the door. The service was amazing. Michelle helped us find the right bike. We love it! Their financing people are some of the best that I have seen. They got us down to the lowest payments possible, and actually worked on lowering the price. We had to take the bike in for a repair, and the staff in the service department is were just as amazing. They took very good care of us. They all seem too care there. We will get another bike some day, and I do not see getting one anywhere else. read more
