    It appears this company has changed its name a couple of times over the last few years but same address. It is now Avalon Roofing and Restoration. I wish I would have seen these reviews before my husband hired them. We had storm damage from the tornado in Baldwin back in Sept 2021. They were supposed to repair and replace the roof including cleanup. They sent a certificate of completion to the insurance company on 1/25/2022We were not able to get up there until yesterday 3/3/2022 due to weather. As you can see their work is subpar to say the least. The insurance company sent $7500 to them leaving a $7200 balance. They did not clean their mess but charged $1896 for it. The roof dips everywhere and the shingles are starting to come up in areas. I would definitely NOT recommend them. I will be contacting the insurance company as well as the BBB! It is funny you can not find my name in your records but we're able to leave a voice mail for me and my husband to call back.

    After reading through the other reviews, there seems to be somewhat of a trend: 1. Representatives of this company are very rude and condescending once they have your money in hand. 2. They will do the bare minimum of lousy, low-quality work... then will offer to correct their screw-ups for an additional $$$ cost. 3. They seem to hate veterans and military folks. 3/12/2022: We spoke to an Amy Johnson with questions and concerns about the way our project had been done. She was unbelievably rude and condescending, basically called my wife an idiot and made fun of the way my daughter speaks. I can't believe a company would allow someone like this to have access to a telephone and actually speak to customers. The work itself was not done very well, and Amy (who has probably never seen a real roofing project in person) tried to blame it on problems already existing with the roof. However, during the project nobody ever reached out to us. They didn't even bother to send us pictures of the completed job, and to the best of my knowledge the sales rep never went back out to check the work. He had promised to call me on several occasions but did not. Trash was not picked up after the job was complete, but Amy's excuse was "you have no proof that we were the ones who left it there." Yeah, right, like someone just randomly wandered into our yard and threw a bunch of roofing nails and debris on the ground. Every project is going to have some gray areas and issues that need to be worked through, but being treated the way we were by Amy is inexcusable. Someone over there needs to send this person to training, to learn how to talk to customers. Update, we spoke to the owner. He was also unhelpful, stood behind the shoddy work (which he probably has never checked out firsthand) and threatened to put a lien on our property. It looks like this is simply the way this company does business. If you have had a negative experience like we have, feel free to get in touch with me. I am writing up a factual statement about Avalon's business practices, and plan to share it in several of the Lake County community Facebook groups. If others can do so in their own locales, we can get the word out about this company and warn others! Or, feel free to click the "share" button on this review and link to your community pages!

    I was contacted by Avalon to see if I wanted a quote given for my roof. I had had Avalon do some work a few years ago that was acceptable, so I agreed to have them give me a quote. We were able to come to an agreement on a price. The employee stressed a number of times that it would only take a day, at the most day and a half--for finishing up and clean up. They got started on a Monday. Almost two weeks later they finished, last Thursday. I had to pick up nails every single day they were here in my driveway. The roofers never said a word that there was an issue with the deck which was damaged. I approached the roofers the next day, warning them to stay off the deck. "Oh I noticed that when I was picking up the tarp", one of them said. "It wasn't that way when I put the tarp down." See the pictures. I reached out on this Monday to Avalon regarding the damage and seeing what kind of agreement we could come to so I could pay the remaining bill. Two employees came today. One was exceptionally rude, pushy, and did his very best to bully me. He informed me that we would be coming to a resolution today before he left in a very threatening manner. He also on another occasion informed me that "I will be leaving with a check, Honey." I wanted him to explain in writing what they were going to be doing to the deck to fix it and as an alternative if I wanted to go elsewhere what financial arrangement they would make so I can make up my own mind. He was very very reluctant to put it in writing. I finally got him to put what he was going to do on the deck in writing, but he would not put in writing what financial compensation they would give if I chose not to have them fix it. Again he resorted to bullying and intimidation saying "you understand English don't you?". I brought him into the other room where my significant other was sitting throughout all of this. And ask him to repeat the offer in front of a witness since he was reluctant to put it down on paper. His demeanor changed immediately once he realized that a man and a witness to his behavior was there. Accidents/mistakes can happen. I know that. No one has a right to come in to my home and tell me that I have to pay them on the spot... Does he think he's the mafia? Is it going to break my legs? I can truly say I have never been treated in a more disrespectful, bullying manner from a business. We came to an arrangement UNDER DURESS that I am not particularly happy with but I accepted just to get him out of my house. This has happened to me and it can happen to you... be forewarned.

    I wrote a review a couple of weeks ago, but Yelp (undoubtedly at Avalon's insistence) removed it "because it wasn't clear that [my] review described [my] firsthand experience as a customer of Avalon Building Concepts." Rest assured, this review is based on my first hand experience with the company, including countless emails and phone calls, in an effort to get the company to stand behind the shoddy work they performed roughly a year ago. I won't bore you with the gory details, but if you're wondering, "How bad could the work be?!?!," I think the pictures speak for themselves. In my profession, substandard work and a failure to respond to client inquiries is considered malpractice. For Avalon, it is a successful business model. I remain (slightly) optimistic that by some miracle or divine intervention, Avalon will deliver on its promise to make things right. If that happens, I will post a follow up review. Until then, and based on my own firsthand experience, I suggest that you proceed with caution and/or minimal expectations.

    New roof leaks and just found out there is nails and singles in my gutters. Leak is destroying my drywall. Called them. Still leaking
