It looks nice inside after they remodeled and upped their presentation case. I got a selection of four cupcakes - pink champagne and strawberries, chocolate truffle, Dubai chocolate cupcake and chocolate covered strawberry. As well as a crossiant cookie, or crookie. The frosting on all were sickeningly sweet. I scraped most of it off and just ate the cake part. Even on day one I found the chocolate covered strawberry cupcake to be dried out. And the chocolate coating had a strange oily flavor. The only cupcake I partly enjoyed was the kataifi filling in the Dubai chocolate cupcake. The crookie was okay. Very little of the chocolate chip cookie part had a crunchy crust. It mostly felt like eating raw dough texture if that's your thing. I wanted so bad to like the cupcakes but they were overpriced for the size and dry on day one. I'm a local so I will eventually try them out again. But, if I was visiting from out of town then I sadly would not return.

Delicious!! My partner picked up some pastries for us before a weekend road trip. He got a couple croissants - peanut butter and jelly for me and a chocolate cherry cheesecake for himself. We really enjoyed both and I would definitely like to try a cupcake or cookie next time. Service was good and prices are great for serving size and taste! @azfitfoodfun

Ava's Cupcakes in Clemmons, is a favorite! Michelle Spell Cupcake Wars Winner and owner of Ava's Cupcakes, is a talented baker. We as sampled some amazing treats available in May at the bakery. Menu of items I tried: Cupcake Wars Winners: -Banana Guava Cupcakes -Apple Pie Cupcakes Ava's Exclusives: -Tiramisu Brownies -Brookies New! Available in May: -Maple Bacon Brioche Cinna-rolls -Chocolate Cannoli Colossal And: -Espresso Cream Croissants -Reese's Cookies I can confidently recommend every item on the menu, with emphasis on Maple Bacon Brioche Cinna-rolls, Espresso Cream Croissants, and the Cupcake Wars Winner the Banana Guava cupcake my favorites! I will say the Colossal cupcakes are a big hit at parties! They have a really cute shop with both indoor and outdoor seating or you can grab your treats to go.

Michelle Spell opened Ava's Cupcakes in 2011 in Rockaway, NJ. In 2012 she entered Food Network's Cupcakes War competition, a competition she won. In addition, her cupcakes have been featured in a number of national media outlets including the Today Show! This location opened in 2019 and is the sole spot open currently. It's a small place with only a couple of spots for dining in. The cupcakes, handpies, cookies, etc. are attractively placed in several display cases. I ordered 2 muffins - Key Lime and Butterscotch - and 2 hand pies - Chocolate and Cherry! This is damn good stuff! Now the cupcakes are the best of breed but the pies are worth a taste for sure - they are a bit more expensive than the muffins, seems a bit off. They know pastries here, and they are equipped to ship country wide! To have this spot in our area is awesome, hope you will find an opportunity to visit!

4 pack of delicious cupcakes, the key lime was my favorite!

Nothing has changed about my original review for Ava's. They continue to be the absolute best place around to get some treats and cupcakes, not once have they failed to impress or have I received anything that might have tasted less than fresh. This is my go to place to get cupcakes for any occasion, and they should be yours too. My favorite recent discovery from their wide flavor selection is their key lime flavor. Banana guava is still my absolute favorite, but the flavor pop of the lime in this cupcake was so zesty and balanced with the sweetness of the cupcake, perfect for a warm day! Go to Ava's, you won't regret it!

Nice, clean little cupcake and cake shop in the same strip as Full Moon Oyster Bar and Mario's Pizza. I went in to get a cake but the nice lady told me you have to order (custom / personalized) cakes a couple of days in advance. I went with a couple of cupcakes and they were pricey but delicious looking. Worth checking out...fun fact, they have a 'Food Network' sign on the front window so one would assume they appeared on one of the many cupcake competition shows on there.

A friend dropped these off for us and they are officially my favorite cupcake in the Winston/Clemmons area! The cupcake itself is moist and has great flavor and the icing is the perfect amount of sweet. I also LOVE that these all had a filling of some sort, it really gave the cupcake that extra depth in flavor. The 4 flavors we got were strawberry champagne, margarita, cookie dough and banana guava. My two favorites were the strawberry and the cookie dough (which are the ones I got a picture of the inside of). We will DEFINITELY be stopping by to get more ASAP!

As one of the winners of *Cupcake Wars*, Ava's knows exactly what they're doing when it comes to cupcakes. With a gorgeous display case filled with traditional and inventive flavors, there's something for everyone! My boyfriend, who is not a dessert person by nature, is obsessed with their banana guava cupcake - he said it was "unlike any cupcake out there." The cakes are fluffy and moist, and the icing is cloud-soft. Definitely check them out for a delicious treat soon!

I had just come out of paradise nails and was craving something sweet so I decided to check out Ava's cupcake. Upon arrival, I was greeted and asked if I had been in their store before. Then I was explained which cupcakes were seasonal, regular, and cream cheese frosted. I tried the seminal cinnamon pumpkin first which was AMAZING. The cake was spongy, flavorful, and moist. The frosting was good because it was not overly sweet. For me, it's a 10/10. I saved the red velvet for the next day. My expectations were high since I tried the cinnamon pumpkin prior. I was a little disappointed, it was good but it was not spongy or moist as the cinnamon pumpkin. This could be because it needs to remain cold because of the crème cheese frosting. For me, it's a 8/10. Overall this place is good I'll definitely be back to try more of their seasonal cupcakes.

Ava's Cupcakes is founded by Michelle Spell, the winner of the 4th season of the popular Food Network show, "Cupcake Wars". Winston-Salem is extremely fortunate to be the location she chose to open her cupcake shop. I've tried about 8 different cupcakes so far, and each one is packed with their own unique flavor, including creme brulee, apple pie, and s'mores. Contrary to other cupcake shops around WS, the sweetness level of these cupcakes are within an acceptable range and will not make you frantically grab the closest glass of water to wash down the sugar. Although the sweetness can be slightly underwhelming at times and the fluffiness of the cupcake itself can be a bit too much, their cupcakes are still worth trying out! WORTH IT? YES, they are the BEST cupcake shop in Winston-Salem and the greater Triad area (Overall 8/10)

All their cupcakes are at least 8/10, apple pie is 10/10! Amazing cupcake place that won on an episode of Food Network's cupcake wars with their apple pie and banana guava flavored cupcakes. The quality of their cupcakes are INSANE and they have a plethora of flavors. Love that they have seasonal cupcakes during holidays or as the season change. I've shown multiple friends Ava's cupcakes and they are blown away every time even if they don't have a sweet tooth. I've tried basically all of their flavors, my favorites include apple pie, caramel apple, oreo, and creme brûlée. Most of the cupcakes have filling, a great frosting to cake ratio, and a very fluffy cupcake base. I find the frosting very sweet and often do not eat all of it but is a great occasional drink. Always great service as well and clean store interior.

This artisan bakery has undergone all health and department of agriculture inspections and been approved to prepare baked goods for wholesale and private sale. If you've never ordered a cake from a home bakery, we will walk you through the process we followed step by step. For our family, it started with deciding what type of cake my mom would like for her birthday, my dad would like for his birthday, and both parents would enjoy for their anniversary. My parents love old fashioned layer cakes with mountains of airy frosting. We browsed the photos and list of cake flavors in the Notes section on the WitsEnd Facebook page. Mom decided upon a coconut cake for her birthday. This was no ordinary coconut cake. Dubbed Grandma's Coconut Cake, the enticing dessert had been soaked for two days to saturate the cake with coconut flavor, then iced in a fluffy frosting and covered in flaked coconut. Six glorious layers of moist cake were slathered in a towering light-as-air frosting. Vicki Crouser, the owner of WitsEnd, has a contact number for the business on Facebook. We called, placed our order, and arranged a date to pick up the cake. When you work with any home bakery, due to restrictions you won't be able to pick up a cake directly at their home. You will arrange a time and public place for the cake delivery. This was quite convenient for us. Jerry met Vicki at the New Town Square shopping center at an agreed upon time on a day he planned on running other errands. Dad adores fruit .The Banana Pudding Cake was a perfect choice for his birthday treat. Four layers of sumptuous banana cake were filled with creamy banana frosting and vanilla wafer crumbles. This lavish sweet was hand delivered neatly in a labeled, sealed, cardboard cake box. If you don't finish the cake in one sitting, plan on making room in your refrigerator. All of the WitsEnd cakes use fresh butter and eggs. My parent's anniversary cake was a meeting of the minds so to speak. The Mandarin Orange Cake had the mandarin orange pieces my mom loves and the pineapple my dad cannot resist. The confection was an ambrosial tropical paradise. With all three cakes, we had no issues ordering or picking up the desserts. Vicki was always on time to deliver her box of sugary bliss. The WitsEnd Bakery Facebook also showcases beautifully decorated custom cakes for weddings and themed birthday parties. They make a variety of cookies like chocolate mint, chocolate berry, peanut butter tap taps, chocolate chip, gingerbread, and molasses. Several local restaurants serve WitsEnd Bakery cakes. For your next special occasion, veer away from the grocery store and head towards a local baker like WitsEnd bakery. My dad's custom-made 80th birthday cake from Danielle Kattan Cakes turned out to be a success…read more Everyone was very happy with it. We asked for a golf-themed birthday cake and Danielle exceeded our expectations. Danielle Kattan Cakes is based out of The Canvas Cake Studio in Winston-Salem, NC. Same business address. Danielle Kattan Cakes does custom cakes and The Canvas Cake Studio is a cake-decorating studio that hosts family-friendly classes, parties, and other fun events. Both are owned and run by Danielle. My wife found Danielle by doing a Google search for custom cake makers in the Piedmont Triad. Danielle was one of the top results and she had stellar reviews. My wife communicated with Danielle via email. Danielle asked if there was a specific design we'd like and if we had pictures to share. My wife shared a picture of a golf-themed cake that she thought was cute. However, she told Danielle to feel free to put her own creative spin on it. She also told Danielle that the grandkids call my dad "Gong Gong." Anticipating 13-15 guests, Danielle quoted $145-$165. Our actual payment was $165 plus $11.55 tax for a total of $176.55. We were invoiced through The Canvas Cake Studio. Danielle recommended we pick up the same day about 2-4 hours before the event. After that, we were told to refrigerate the cake until 2 hours before serving. We followed these guidelines and everything turned out great. Not only did the cake look spectacular, but it tasted delicious too. We chose Cleo's Almond and Coconut Signature Cake Flavor from Danielle's website. It's described as: "Light moist layers of almond and coconut semolina cake filled with orange blossom buttercream iced with a swirly combination of coconut and orange blossom buttercream." https://www.daniellekattancakes.com/signature-cakes/ The pictures and video of the cake, that I posted here on Yelp, speak for themselves. We loved it. I especially loved the golf glove on top of the cake that said "Happy Birthday Gong Gong," the golf bag and clubs, and the gold golf ball teed up in a patch of grass with the number '80' on it. I could tell the cake was made with a lot of thought and care, and I loved the attention to detail. It was simply amazing all around. Danielle is so skilled. My wife started emailing with Danielle about 7 weeks before the event. Sometimes, it took Danielle many days to respond and my wife would have to follow up when not hearing back after 5, 10, 20+ days. So, communication wasn't the best. We had a day-of backup plan just in case things didn't work out. We picked up the cake at The Canvas Cake Studio on a Sunday morning shortly after 10:00am. My wife called Danielle to let her know that we were on our way. No one answered, so she left a voicemail. The strip where The Canvas Cake Studio is located, Jonestown Plaza, was dead, but we did see a car parked in the back which gave us hope. Danielle's son Adrian was waiting inside for us and we picked up the cake from him. He was polite and kind. Adrian was the one who told us to refrigerate until 2 hours before serving. The studio itself was charming. Thank you, Danielle and Adrian, for helping to make my dad's 80th special and memorable!

And another actual favorite of mine (Little Cake Company) was booked through Mother's Day Weekend. Danielle responded within an hour or two of my email and we texted back and forth about the details. I was worried about the cake not being able to serve 25-30 people but it got the job done easily and then some! I ordered a tie-dye cake with "Happy 40th Birthday, Ken!" written on it. The only hiccup which I actually didn't even notice immediately was that they had written Kent instead (I sent a photo to my friends and they asked if I was going to get it corrected - ha!) The shop took care if it immediately and the cake was a hit at the party. Loved the funfetti flavor and vanilla ice cream. Few days later and I am still chipping away at it, and it's just as tasty as the day I picked it up. Maybe slightly on the pricier side but for a custom request and that much detail in the scoring/design, totally worth it! Thanks Danielle/Canvas Cakes - I will definitely be back for future party needs!! @azfitfoodfun
