Really horrible experience. I went in for a lip wax and was bleeding for over an hour. I called and asked to speak to manager was told someone would call me back. Never heard back. Young people working very inexperienced. No one really cared. Will never go back and disappointed not hearing back from management. No one reached out and obviously no one cared for my really bad experience. While I appreciate you finally getting back to me I would have preferred to talk to you. I had a very significant "cut" which scabbed on my lip for over a week.Yes I did receive a full refund it was only after I called and requested that. Mostly a positive experience - loved the most of the services, but the administration of our visit was confusing. We didn't know the exact time of each of our six services, and they originally were in one order and then changed. On the day of our service the arrival time was moved back 15 minutes making us have to wait for our first services. The locker I was assigned was broken and then when I moved my clothes to another one, it was broken, too. I've been going to this salon for the past 18 years. Never coming back! After this salon was bought out by the new owners from La Tierra salon May this year, this salon has gone completely downhill and the new owners are totally cut-throat and greedy in their prices! Before going to this salon, I've tried La Tierra salon many years ago and the massage and facials there were subpar at best. The frontdesk girls there were snobbish, rude and totally clueless on what services they are offering. Then, I tried Avalon and I've been going to Avalon since then. Now, with the new ownership, they are raising a minimum of 15% from regular prices. The new owners refused to work with me. And now, I found out they have raised their prices in less than 2 months frpm the buyout! The new owners declare themselves an "Aveda salon", however I found out they refused to honor any Aveda service rewards certificates. Also, the new owners have cut out free Wi-Fi. I noticed the same type of snobbish and arrogant don't care attitude frontdesk girls and the atmosphere of the spa has changed from used to be, warm and friendly and now, it's snobbish and unreceptive. I used to come here for massages, facials, body treatments and haircuts. I have tried many massage therapists here, and it's a revolving-door all those years. The last massage therapist that I saw was Kate before the salon was sold. She doesn't go the extra mile to pamper her customers. Kate doesn't offer any hot towels or even use any of the Aveda cooling oil if you don't request for it. The massages that I got were bare bones and done subpar. She was just touching and not working out my knots in my problem areas. After each massage, she tells me to "Drink more water!" which does not help with my sore muscles. She has never asked which type of aromas I would like to use for my massages. A few months later, Kate started changing her schedule erratically without notifying clients. Her massages have gotten worse. Then, all the sudden I heard Kate had quit and is on "leave of absence" and not coming back to work, just out of the blue. Everyone was wondering what happened to her and refused to talk about her being gone and no one knew if she was ever coming back at all. Kate abruptly up and left leaving her clients hanging. I have asked Rayna multiple times to do extractions for my facials, she agrees at first by saying "yah...yah" and extracts 1 or 2, and in the next facials, she refuses to do extractions. Rayna has charged a full price 90 mins facial however; she only did a 60 mins facial on me. I've been purchasing my products here for the last 15 years. The new girl behind the counter is the reason for the drop in stars. I typically give them my phone number to enter for the points, and when I began to give her this information, she started talking over me to tell me that she needed the actual member number, that the system didn't work like that. Lol ok... so I signed into an account that I never use, and navigated to the number, all the while listening to her tell me that once she enters the number in, it'll always be there. I told her that this was the only location that I go to, that I should be in the system already. With what appeared to be slight agitation occurring (her voice was rising) she continued to talk over me about how I'll be in the system now. When asked if I'd like the receipt, my reply; "no tha..," "OK! HAVE A GOOD DAY!" As she started crumbling it. As we left the store I looked at my husband and I said, "that was weird, right?" Let customers know who you are, NO GRAND OPENING OR ANY MANAGEMENT PRESENT TO SHOW APPRECIATION OR DIRECTION OF WHAT TO EXPEXT. My bill went up $25 without warning, that's ridiculous!!! I called to see if they had time for a facial and it appeared as though the lady didn't even look (gave a response immediately, didn't say one moment let me look or anything), just replied with "I wouldn't have time today" and didn't bother to offer any other times/dates. I said okayyy... leading to give her more room to go on and she said "Have a good day". The conversation ended there. I have a gift card I was going to use towards a facial but now I may just use it towards a product. Pretty poor way to gain customers. read more

My experience today at Avalon was much better than yours! My appointment time was 9:45, and only 3 stylists were active. Everyone I saw was correctly masked. There were lucite "walls" between the shampooing stations. I felt well-protected. I was unpleasantly surprised to learn my shampoo/cut is now $50. Otherwise, I'm pleased overall. read more
