Cinnamon bun after reheating and adding icing (see my pro tip in review)! 10/10

Avenue bakery on 4th my closet would like a word with you bc my pants are tight and I'm blaming these cinnamon rolls ! Gluten free bakery - celiac dream. We stopped in multiple times during our trip to SLC. Highly recommend the cinnamon rolls on weds (obvs) and the cream puffs (regret not trying these until after we were too far to buy more). We also picked up the oatmeal raisin cookies (I'm not an oatmeal raisin person so do what you will with the fact that they were so good I purchased anyway) and the cheesecake (a little more cakey than traditional cheesecake but still great). Pro tip for the travelers- shove cinnamon buns in zip locks in your suitcase! When you reheat the buns in the oven you now have a makeshift pastry piping bag for extra icing!

Avenue Bakery, original location in American Fork, recently opened this new Salt Lake location and I've already tried half their desserts! Convenient that their name already matched their new place! They are completely gluten free, and even better: their prices are in line with other non-GF bakeries with similar offerings. They have tons of beautiful and delicious desserts. Standouts are the chocolate dome, cupcakes, cheesecake, Paris-Brest, and cinnamon rolls. Follow them on instagram to know when they get special items like cinnamon rolls- it is a cute but small location, so things are made in American Fork and brought to SLC. Two things kept me from giving 5 stars: across 3 visits, they put beautiful creations like the Russian dome in containers that are too short, so you bring home a smooshed and less attractive dessert. Do not buy their macaroons, they are exactly the same ones as sold at Costco - they even leave them in the plastic tray!

Gluten free lemon custard pie mousse, the best pastry I've ever had in all my 43 years (and I'm a gluten eater, too!)

I come here with my spouse, who has to eat gluten free, but I absolutely love their eclairs. The cream puffs are great, too, but the rich chocolate on the eclairs gives them the edge for me. I like to leave mine out for ~20 minutes so it's not fridge cold to eat, but that's just my preference. My spouse prefers it quite cold. Even *better* than the eclairs is their "lemon custard pie mousse." It is, hands down, the best pastry I've ever eaten, anywhere. I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture, because it's as gorgeous as it is delicious. I will include a blurry crop of a photo I found on their Google page, just for reference. Don't go in expecting every treat to be super sweet. Avenue Bakery excels at custard and cream pastries that achieve the ideal balance between sweet and tart, while involving textures that perfectly complement each other. If you're into super sweet, though, try the parfait. Other options we've tried include the muffin tops, cookies, and cinnamon rolls. My spouse is a big fan of all of these, and Avenues Bakery does a nice job of them. One more note: They recently began selling drip coffee! The employee we spoke to says the future goal is to have an espresso bar, but for now at least they can offer drip.

The shop is an old house that has been repurposed into a fantastic space that exudes positive energy. I visited recently and was looking for something special for my best friend, who is a collector of stones and gems. I am not well-versed in stones, but I knew I wanted something that would signify our friendship/sisterhood. A lovely staff member jumped into action and curated a sampling of options for me to choose from. I was so grateful for their efforts to help me find just the right gift, and I fell in love with one of them-a watermelon tourmaline. They offered gift wrap options and made sure it was ready for my friend to love. While I was there, I interacted with a couple different staff members and they were so welcoming and helpful. I would love to spend hours in here, even just taking in all the good vibes and energy. I'll certainly be back when I need a power boost.

I love the remodel that happened a few years ago now. The back rooms opened up for more shop space filled with cards and other mindful gifts. They still have a range of crystals from tumbles to more rare and expensive pieces (ohhhhhh, one day I'll collect those rarer pieces). I do miss the dove who was their singing shop keeper. I love coming out to Turiya's... it's always a treat!

I had to look at everything! You don't want to miss anything cool. You got funny cards, lunch boxes, scratch and sniff stickers to movie themed books. I wanted it all! My favorite items were the naughty candy boxes at the register! I was with a family friend and I didn't want her to see me buying the candy boxes but man I wanted one. I did find a neat Harry Potter sticker book for my friend. It has 934 stickers to this book. I'm very excited to give it to her! She is a due hard Harry Potter lover! The gentleman that was working behind the counter was really sweet. He showed me a couple other Harry Potter themed items they had. I thought it was kind of him to show me something I could have missed. He rang me up. Wrapped my friend's book in nice tissue paper and thanked me several times. I have a feeling this could be a locally owned business. I could be wrong but the costumer service here screams locally owned. The salesman was attentive and kind. It was a different kind of customer service. Either way, it was great! I don't know if I'll be back in the area but if I am, I'm definitely coming back to this store to check out their new merch.

(And probably don't need) Go here for the funny, different, unique items. If you come in looking for a particular thing, good luck. But coming in with an open mind, that's where the magic happens. I ended up with three different greeting cards. Only one that I planned to use immediately. Two others that would definitely be used in the future. All of them slightly inappropriate, which was great. I hate to be this person, but I did get the feel that things were priced a little high. Found myself surprised by the price for items and thinking the price wasn't worth the item.
