Coconut lemon cupcake

I didn't realize this was not the main location for this business. I made a special trip, but this is two very small cases, with just a few sweets as choices. I tried a donut and a cupcake. Both were tasty and had a nice, slightly dense texture, but were very sweet. The service was adequate, but not friendly. I certainly wouldn't rush back to this location, but I might check out the downtown location if I found myself nearby.

This place is amazing. I got my baby shower cake here and it was so delicious, red velvet with buttercream. I have also had their pumpkin muffin and it's to die for! These cakes and baked goods don't even taste gluten free.

Chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream and vegan!

We decided to celebrate my MIL's bday early last minute to accommodate schedules. She and her husband are vegan and it's sometimes complicated to cater to! I found City Cakes on Yelp. Both locations are closed on Sunday so I called to verify they'd have stock to buy in advance and pickup for a Sunday celebration. They did and were able to write happy bday for pickup. I went with chocolate 8" round and oh my goodness it's so good! I'm not vegan but appreciate a good vegan dish or dessert. It's the best chocolate cake I've had in a while. I'm eating a piece right now as I write this on my lunch break. Each component individually is also so good. The cake is very moist and the buttercream so rich! The Midvale location is kind of in the middle of nowhere but it's a cute little shop with a variety of desserts on display for purchase. The staff was friendly and informative both over the phone and in person. The cost of the cake before trying was 30% more than comparable items I've purchased but WORTH IT. I'd happily get another cake from here.

What a cute little bakery with a ton of fun vegan, gluten free, and all natural choices. Ordered a birthday cake (vegan) so that multiple guests with different restrictions could enjoy and it was delicious. Everybody was raving and asking where we got the cake from, had to spread the word! Cake itself was very tasty, and very very dense. Icing wasn't overpowering and the chocolate cake it self was sweet but not over sweet. I am someone who loves dense cakes, so if this style cake is something you prefer then it is the perfect place for you. Will definitely be coming back, and next time will be purchasing different items like their cupcakes, cookies, and even their cookie dough they offer. Staff was also very friendly and was very thankful we chose them! Highly recommend

Driving home from Riverton and desperate for some baked treats on a Sunday, City Cakes was one of the few options open. While I am not vegan, nor do I have any dietary restrictions, their pictures on Yelp looked great, and I headed on over. They have two cases filled with many baked goods: cookies, bars, cupcakes and full size cakes, tarts, parfaits, donuts, cinnamon buns, bread, etc. Toward the back of the shop, there is an open cooler with beverages and some cafe-style savory offerings like salads and sandwiches. There is plenty of seating available. We selected the following: Brownie - decently fudgy, with firm chocolate chips that added a nice additional texture. Frosting was very whipped and light, with good chocolate flavor. Sugar Cookie - soft, as is my preference, with generous frosting, but it was a bit too one note and super sweet for me. There was a touch of lemon, but if they upped that flavor and (I can't believe I'm about to say this) reduced the frosting, I think they'd have a better cookie. Snickerdoodle - crunchy, and I prefer a soft center with crisped edges, but it was fine. Tiramisu - appreciable, yet not overpowering coffee flavor, and great balance of cream to cookie pieces. Now, I am judging them against a standard bakery, and they craft truly respectable vegan treats (not to mention the plethora that are available gluten free as well!). They can compete with most average bakeries utilizing butter and/or wheat flour, and that's impressive! Prices are average, service was friendly, and the space is fine. Not gorgeous, but clean, and a nice enough spot to enjoy your purchase if you so desire.

My first time going to a Vegan bakery, my sister in law has many allergies and can't eat dairy or gluten. They had beautiful displays of cakes and pastries and even had many free samples. Loved the cinnamon roll, peanut butter bar, but didn't care for the marble cake. It looked great but was so heavy in weight and in flavor. Not sure what it was made out of but will pass on that next time? 2 of the 3 things purchased were great though and the samples were all so tasty. Not going to stop me from returning and will try some other goodies.

Lemon coconut cake with buttercream frosting. Decorated as a Watermelon for a Cocomelon themed birthday

The lemon coconut cake was so yummy! The cake was adorably decorated. We did a 6" cake. City Cakes is always great to work with. I added the topper and figurines. Also, the lemon blueberry scones are SO good!

This place was recommended by a coworker who knew I was looking for a gluten free cake. I usually bake my own, but, pressed for time, gave this bakery a try. Excellent marbled cake and soft ginger cookie. Half of the bakery case was gluten free and clearly marked. There were a lot of cookie and cake options. Even doughnuts. They had meal options on premise as well. My daughter is looking forward to trying more goods from City Cakes.

Gluten free pecan pie was absolutely delicious and the gluten free roll were good. I did like that they were more than just flour.

Really friendly service. The gluten free treats were pretty good. It's a quiet little shop in Midvale with a decent selection.

Best gluten free cookies I have found. About half of their baked goods are gluten free, the rest are not. Also have vegan bakery goods.

This cake…read morewas inspired by my favorite artist (The Weeknd) and a cake I had found on tiktok fit my vision perfectly. The Weeknd has a song on his Trilogy album named "Twenty Eight", hence the idea for the cake design. I specifically ordered this cake for the cake to have the song cover with "Twenty Eight" on it. I reached out to Cakes By Edith on instagram, sent them my cake inspiration and they sent back the exact picture I was wanting, with the song cover for Twenty Eight on the cake. When my boyfriend went to pick up the cake yesterday, the cake was missing the "Twenty Eight" part of the song cover entirely. This completely defeated the purpose of the cake as I am also in bodybuilding prep so I wasn't even going to be able to eat the cake, I just wanted it to take birthday pictures with and then to freeze and eat later after my bodybuilding show. And it's a complete missed opportunity as I only turn 28 once. I sobbed when I saw the cake because I knew even though I couldn't eat it, I was excited to have my perfect cake and Cakes By Edith did not deliver. They did not offer to fix it, nor give a price adjustment. Poorly handled business as I am a very unsatisfied customer. I hate to leave a bad review for a local business but since Cakes By Edith did not even attempt to offer to make things right, I cannot support this business and I will be ordering from a different local baker in the future. I will add pictures/screenshots from the instagram chat. What my inspiration was, and what I received.

I wanted to find a traditional French boulangerie in SLC but did not see one, Zut alors!…read more I know Paris Baguette is a chain and has an Asian twist so we decided to visit on Saturday morning before driving back to Boise. It was early, and it was already busy. TIPs & TRICKs Follow the rules: Get the tray, then the wax paper liner, then use the individual wax papers at the stations to grab what you want. While you're doing that, pay attention to the pricing, because it can add it. To see the plain butter croissants empty already was shocking, but when we told the employee she came back to not only stock it but came to us first and let us pick which ones we wanted off the tray That was very nice The pain du chocolat looked good and were lacking in depth and flakiness of the crunch The Chausson aux Pommes - was really good - They could have used another minute or two in the oven to get that golden brown. They were looking like the pastly white guy at the beach while everyone else had a tan The mochi Dubai Chocolate donut was very good. The total was almost fifty bucks.... I told my wife that we could have about 40 croissants for that price if we were in Paris. C'est la vie! Look for a chain - Its pretty good. I didn't try the coffee but if they ever show up in Boise metro area, I would check them out to see if they match up with SLC.
