The location I imagine is good for alarms and remote car starting. If you're looking to have any stereo system put in a classic car this is not the place to bring your car. I was horrified when I went to go pick up my classic car and it was left outside in the rain. When I called the manufacturer of the radio and asked them what were the qualifications of someone being an authorized distributor and installer they told me that as long as they fill out the paperwork and send it in anyone can be authorized. That was very discerning and I wish I would've known that before I decided to use this company.I don't think they sell very many radios in classic cars because two of the technicians that were supposed to assist me in explaining how the radio work were unknowledgeable and unable to help me. My recommendation for anyone who is looking for an aftermarket radio for their classic car is to touch base with whatever car club you're in or to do your homework in interviewing some of these people. Man, what a refreshing experience! The guys at Avenue Sound are professional, honest, and fair. Finding these qualities in a business are all to rare these days. I entrusted my fully restored 1964 Corvette to Billy to replace the speakers in the top deck, the single DIN stereo, add a Sirius/XM tuner, and wire up the existing rear speakers. They took care of my baby, and respected all the instructions I gave them. They didn't create any new holes, used all the existing mounts and found creative ways to utilize existing screws. They price matched the Sirius/XM tuner because I found it on sale at another authorized dealer. When I asked about purchasing a remote from them for the Kenwood stereo, they went in the back and brought one out and just gave it to me. For the price quoted I changed my mind on installing myself. Nice enough to fit me in same day even with short notice. I ran the wiring etc... Staff connected wires and reinstalled seats. If you buy something from this store they charge you for the item you want and then when you have it installed they put a different lower value product! the do a something called a bait and switch.. Avenue Sound installed a remote starter which I was very happy with, but a few days ago I couldn't start my car with my key. My auto mechanic thought it might be a problem with the remote starter. I went back to Avenue Sound to check it out. The remote starter was not the problem, the key cylinder had broken. Well, the installer fixed my key cylinder. And, they didn't over charge me. Very impressed with everyone who works at Avenue Sound. Not only did they fix my car, but they kept me informed the entire time as they were doing the work. This business sucks they scammed me out of my money then when I had found out and called them up I cancelled my appointment and they wouldn't refund me the money I had already laid out. I then called back to ask to by the harness for my car separately because the place I just went to (sound trax) didn't have it in stock so they had asked if I could get it from them (avenue sound) and avenue sound told me they would not sell me any parts without paying for the entire installation. I'm telling everyone to let them know this business is some bullshit. Horrible customer service. I had a backup camera and stereo installed last winter. Everything was fine until I went to hook up my SiriusXM. After deducing that I did not have a satellite antenna installed, I called to find out why. The woman on the phone was extremely rude. She told me that I had to buy a separate device to make the satellite radio work. I was never told this at the time of purchase. Instead I was assured when I purchased the radio that I would be able to to add my SiriusXM account in the future with no problems. All she did when I called was constantly talk over me, and she kept telling me that I was wrong, and it was my fault for not understanding something she never told me! She could have easily apologized for the misunderstanding, and then offer to sell me the missing part. I will never give them any future business, and I strongly suggest that don't either. read more

This is a rough review, but I'll give them that they effectively installed a good radio. Starting with payment, it sketched me out that they didn't give me a receipt until I asked for it. Proof of transaction is standard practice for any professional business. Second, the staff seemed impatient or annoyed by the questions I was asking, which were pretty reasonable given the price tag: Long term reliability, warranty info, etc. Finally, when I picked up my truck it was in four wheel drive. I don't know where they were going in Patchogue in 4x4 but whatever they were doing they shouldn't have been doing it. Mechanically, there's a slew of issues that could be created by running 4x4 on dry pavement. They had also clearly run my truck (a manual transmission) with the parking brake engaged. This seriously degrades the rear drum brakes and, to be frank, anyone who works for an auto-related shop should know that when you stop a stick shift you have to engage the parking brake. Moving on to the actual install. When I opened up my truck there was a stray wiring harness on the floor. Coming from some experience in HVAC, I know it's kind of unprofessional to leave parts or waste from your work. Overall, the difference between a good and a bad install is the difference between how the shop finds and leaves their product. A little more care and attention to detail and my attitude would be far different about this shop. As it stands right now, I am not returning. Finally, some tips if you choose Avenue Sound. If you're going to come here get a receipt for the transaction and know what you want. It's easy to spend more than you intended in this place. read more

I am an electrical and mechanical tech by trade and my whole life, I walked in to inquire about a second hand amplifier that I needed some accessories for. The owner or manager was talking down to me acting as if I didn't know what I was talking about, then developed a snide condescending attitude after I said this is what I'm doing and I know what I'm talking about. And ontop of all of this, prices are extremely elevated. My buddy and I both looked up exact items in this buisness both in other stores and stores online. I wish here was an option for minus stars, minus 5 stars wouldn't be enough. I never lose my patience, this business made me lose more then my patience I lost my temper. It was well deserved. I went in weeks ago for an auto start on a new car . I did not get the inexpensive model. I paid cash BIG MISTAKE !! DO NOT EVER GIVE THEM CASH. When I went to check car my alarm didn't work. After speaking to two people there i was told person answering phone told me wrong information, salesman came to check car , when he couldn't get it to work he tried to blame me with " What makes you think you even have an alarm" Perfect customer service blame the customer for your bad work. I had to go back because " they didn't have time to fix it " that day. I couldn't go back for 2 weeks due to work travel, I was questioned rudely for not jumping to their schedule. I went last week for what I was told was a 20 minute fix. When they suddenly told me an hour to an hour and a half, I went straight on the defensive. NOW I'm missing work and stranded there. I walked outside and came back and hour and 45 mins later,, guess what ? Not only is my car not ready but the problem is they DAMAGED the module ( straight from the owners mouth) , they have to disconnect auto start and I have to come back AGAIN ( they need to order a new part from dealer). I leave ANGRY and drive home, as I'm almost there the door locks start clicking without stopping, alert (?) lights come on. I go all the way back now I'm furious. I want my car back to normal and I want their crap out of my car and my money back. They agreed BUT they need to get the part and fix it and take the auto start out. They had to disconnect all locks and the lights for alerts will stay on non stop. I told them just get me away from you. Sunday morning the alarm starts going off , every time I turn it off it goes back on,, for a good hour three times throughout the day. The Bluetooth will connect and immediately disconnect, my clock doesn't set to DST. I contact manager, he tells me call the owner Hiru, Monday ( I'm not -what's the point, she is , as an employee said, quite abrupt). Tuesday the alarm goes haywire, click it off ,it goes on from 11:30 pm until 5 AM , my husband had to sleep in the car. My neighbors are furious. I text the manager, no reply. I send an email to the store email address, addressed to manager and owner. I have detailed the entire experience from day one. I include the money I lost as I missed deadlines and work, excessive gas traveling back and forth and excessive wear and tear on battery. Not to mention a house and block of no sleep for two nights. I closed with I wanted to see the part ( to be sure it is authentic), I wanted my money back ( already agreed upon), I wanted a new battery and gas compension. I thought I was being very reasonable. NO REPLY. When I went in this morning I brought a copy of email so I had proof it was delivered. I was told two hours. 75 mins later I get a call from the owner that I am not being compensated and she is not proceeding unless I am willing to sign a paper agreeing to that ( I'd never agree to that). I went straight there. They put in the module that THEY ADMITTEDLY DAMAGED. But would not take out the auto start or refund me. Did I lose it? Yep. Because I paid cash I have no recourse. She had an employee follow me outside "TO TAPE ME LEAVING " Now I am stuck with their crap in my car which I DO NOT WANT and they agreed to remove, I am tied to them for a warranty . I am out money and excessive time. I have been spoken to like no one should. They are liars, they install crap, they are rude. And,, they dont care, they have your money. I will weigh my options after a few calls Monday, what I do know is I DO NOT want their merchandise in my car, I DO NOT want to be tied to them. I will NEVER step foot in that store again and will be quite vocal about this HORRIBLE BUSINESS read more

Brought all of my cars here and always had outstanding work accept for this last time. I got a remote start installed and a strip tinted on my windshield. First of all they didn't even have the tint percentage they told me to do and second of all I paid for a 6" strip and they did about 3" then told me it was the legal limit. I understand with the tint laws much stricter now but tell me before I pay for something I'm not getting. The other thing was my backup camera screen was laying on the floor and there were wires hanging out from under my dash that weren't like that before and there only answer was "bring it back and we'll tie the wires up." This is honestly the worst place ever. They will rob you blind. Everything in the store is marked up 200 percent. (Granted it's a sales store everyone needs to make money, but their prices are so ridiculous. If you cross check any item on their shelves on google everything you look up will be 200% lower.) The salesman MIKE will sell you dreams and lie his ass off to you to get you to buy something. He is the biggest piece of sh*t there is. I had them put a pioneer flip out TV deck in my BMW. I kept asking what kind of material they were going to use to house the new deck, mike said, "Don't worry man we will take care of you, its going to look BEAUTIFUL!!!" Im like ok whatever, so I put my trust into them. Later on I go to get the car. He says to me it came out beautiful, the only thing is that theres a tiny bit of engine noise coming through the radio. Im like ok thats normal a tiny bit... I get in my car there is saw dust all over the place, wire clippings on the floor, one of the speaker covers in the back was off. Total mess. Then to top it all off I look at my deck and they used CARPET. BLACK CARPET to house my new deck. It is horrible looking... I then start my car and here the loudest radio engine noise I've ever heard in my life. I go back inside to tell mike, he says oh nooo its definitely not loud, you cant even here it when you turn up the music. Yeah ok thats true, if I'm blasting it. And if i turn the volume all the way down you hear SCREAMING noises.. It sounded like cats f*cking and fighting at the same time. It was horrible. He gets in the car and says oh yeah i guess the filters i used aren't working good, i have better ones at the other store bring it back monday and I will fix it................... I get there monday to find out they forgot to get the filters. So the girl there tells me don't worry we will take care of you and switch out the carpet material for vinyl no problem... So i then had to take off work again to come in the next day... I go in AGAIN, this time mike says to me you have to pay 100 dollars for the 2 filters and your going to need 4 crossovers for your hi's to work. (oh yea and before I even brought them the car my hi's worked and when i got it back they didn't, all I had were MID'S) And they had the nerve to change the story and say I have to pay them again for labor to redo the deck to vinyl material... Such bullsh*t I swear. The story goes on... Basically it was a sh*tty experience, they play games with you and charge you out the ass. As a guy who knows solid service when he sees it I can say this review was well earned. From the start when I had my stereo installed and I had some electronic issues which weren't associated with my stereo installation but the technician went out of his way to sit with me and troubleshoot the problem even though he didn't have to I knew I was in good hands. That was two years ago. Unfortunately after some time my stereo mounting plate had come loose and slid out of the dashboard and became a real eye sore to look at. Stereo worked great but I needed to bring it back to see if they could adjust the mounting. Brought it there today and was called to pick it up a few hours later. Pretty easy job and they didn't charge me a dollar. Even after two years of the stereo being installed they could have said otherwise and charged me a couple of bucks but they did the right thing. I threw the technician a few extra bucks for his time because that's what anyone should do when receiving good service. As a man who owns his own small business (GZ Pool Works) I truly do understand the value of not only great customer service but service in general. I received just that today so I'm doing my part and leaving this well earned review for Avenue Sound. I've been driving past their shop for over 25 years. There are plenty of nickel and dime stereo ships that come and go but Avenue Sound has been there for decades. You might pay a retail price for the work you receive but wouldn't you rather then get some chop shop job done and when you have problems to address find out the stereo shop is out of business for just that reason (being a chop shop). Not I.....Places like this as few and far between and harder and harder to find when you need them most. I'm glad I went with a retail business from my childhood who still stands to tell the tale of the hard work they put in. Thx gentlemen. You'll be seeing me again when the time is right. read more

Avenue Sound SUCKS!! I had them install a remote start back in 2010 & it has NEVER worked properly since. They charged me $300 I brought it back to them TWICE to have them fix it & they basically did nothing & charged me another $100. The remote start still doesn't work right till this day. I will NEVER go back to Avenue Sound again!! They do not stand by their work. I guess the tecnician that di my install was a rookie, or very sloppy & rushed through it.... Your are better off going to a smaller operation that takes their time & does good work. read more

Just had a rear view camera, HIDS, a Python LED remote starter with alarm, and smart start installed into my car, I didn't want to change my radio so they were able to hook it up to my rear view mirror! After the installation which was perfect ,and fully aware of my O C D issues I had a few questions about the settings mode and things like that. Sean went outside w me to answer them. There was a question he couldn`t answer.....no problam. He said he wouod call Kenwood after the weekend and that I should call him on Monday which I did. I was told by the owner that he was very busy and there was a long wait on the kenwood customer service line.I called Kenwood myself and answererd my questions in 3 minutes.Maybe I didnt spend enough money.
