We were pleasantly surprised by this unassuming roadside spot. From the front it doesn't look like much - tucked in next to a sporting good and CBD/week shop. The outside was lovely with a cozy foliage lined patio. They're known for Italian food so we happily obliged. We had the lasagna with bolognese, the tortellini alla Michelangelo, shrimp de pomodoro with pasta, and Caesar salad. Everything was freshly prepared with great flavor. The lasagna was surprisingly light - not at all greasy or too dense. The coconut cake was delicious too! Our server was awesome. Friendly and approachable - very kind!

My beautiful wife & I are vacationing and for our first night we decided to try this establishment. We are very glad we did! We enjoyed the outdoor seating. My wife really liked the muffuletta (plantation). I enjoyed immensely my pizza with meatball. The sauce , cheese, crust & meat combined perfectly. Caitlin was an awesome server. She was on fire! We both highly recommend the Bayside Gourmet!

Super cute place, absolutely not what I was expecting when I looked at other reviews. We were passing through Islamorada on the way to Marathon and stumbled across this place. If you blink, you miss it. The interior transports you back to the 80-90's and it's absolutely so cute! From the vintage arcade games, to the service and the delicious food, you can't go wrong. 10/10 in my books and can't wait to visit again.

Very few 5 star rated restaurants in Islamorada but this one was easily. The waiting area had retro standup arcade games - played Ms Pac Man and got the high score. There about eight tables in the small restaurant and outside seating but way too humid out for that idea. The decor was 1980's themed with Blockbuster Video boxes on the walls in addition to retro album covers like Men at Work and Van Halen. The Grouper Reuben sandwich and the Baby Spinach Salad with Tuna were very fresh and tasty and reasonably priced. The bathroom was updated and clean.

Definitely the best food while in the Keys! We loved the outside patio. Small with 5 tables well spread out. The food was amazing. We split an entree salad as well as an entree so we could have dessert. They have amazing pasta dishes we let our waitress choose for us. Same with the desserts. She did amazing! We split the Greek salad one night and the Caesar another night. We had a seafood pasta dish, shrimp di pomodoro one night and spaghetti and meatballs another night.

Their hook and cook is the best tasting. We did try their pizza the night before and that was delicious too!

    Interior. Casual. Comfortable.

This is a gem and not touristy. Locals love it for the food and prices. Nice large outdoor patio and old-time video games make this place an enjoyable spot. Service is always exceptional. Grouper Reuben is the best in the Keys.

To start, I think this place has ample room for improvement and actually has a lot of potential…read more I'll say the ambiance is great! The views were really nice, I mean you can't go wrong with ocean front. The decor, very nice and unique with the painted pillars. So they have that. Service was lacking. I think the waitress was maybe new? But forgot our straws when requested. So I would recommend new servers to remind themselves to write things down if they are working on remembering. Or bring it before conquering another task. It was not a busy day, very empty restaurant; maybe 4 tables at most. The food came out at a decent time, not too slow or quick. Now for the flavor: we ordered the pupusa with the pork carnitas and the nachos with the carne asada I placed my expectations and standards low. This is a menu with a lot of different plates from different countries, which can be good or bad. In this case bad. Trying to put a lot of different cultures of food in one menu is very challenging if you cannot master any of them. It may be best to stick with one culture and master it first with better quality meat and ingredients. The pupusa was dry. We ordered it with the carnitas which came on top. Fine. You can do that I guess, but that's not a pupusa. That's a corn tortilla/patty with meat on top. The meat tasted stale and bland, and all of it was dry. The creamy sauce on top was sweet... it didn't mesh well at all. I think you need to rename the dishes because calling it a pupusa is not accurate. This was a corn patty that was thick and dry. There wasn't even any cheese in it. Nothing in it at all. So rename the dish, buy better meat and ensure it's flavorful, or make the actual dish correctly. Ask an El Salvadoran chef/cook to teach your crew how to make a pupusa. It's not very challenging if you make it correctly and one of the most delicious cuisines. Now the nachos: the sauce they put on top was sweet. Again with the sweetness, it was very odd. The chips were fine, a bit salty and they are store bought or purchased through a merchandiser. This warrants a price reduction if you are going to charge $15 dollars for nachos without meat. I had them add the carne asada so that totaled to $27. Insanity to call it carne asada, also. It was at best a steak from the worst part of the cow. It was cooked as if it was boiled and had no flavor. Carne asada is grilled, and has grill marks, and marinated. This looks like clumped up ground beef shaped into a small sliced piece of steak/strip. It was a loaded nacho dish, which had cheese, pico, and another creamy beige looking sauce and all you could taste was sweetness and stale food. I'm writing this review in hopes that the restaurant will improve by starting with purchasing better quality meat and investing in teaching their cooks or hiring cooks that are able to authentically marinate and properly cook the food that is being advertised on the menu. The menu looks like it will all taste good, but it is deceiving. All in all, if you're going to make a fusion-style restaurant, maybe just pick one or two Hispanic cultures or types of Latin American/Caribbean foods and perfect them. I saw various different styles of dishes and cuisines on the menu from at least three or four different countries. The pupusa is not a pupusa so I think that should be renamed, frankly. We did not get any Cuban dishes so I cannot comment on those dishes. The flavor and service is severely lacking. The two stars are for the decor and location/ambiance.

It was perfectly balanced--tart, sweet, smooth, and strong without being overpowering. It was exactly what I had been hoping to find. Our bartender, Megan, made the experience even better. She was incredibly sweet, attentive, and genuinely friendly from start to finish. Since my friend was driving and didn't want alcohol, Megan made her a Key lime margarita-style mocktail that was absolutely delicious and so refreshing. It made my friend feel just as included in the experience, which we really appreciated. The service was outstanding from everyone we encountered. From the host who welcomed us to the team serving our food, everyone was warm, kind, and attentive. Our waters were refilled multiple times without us ever having to ask, and we always felt well taken care of. We ordered the buffalo shrimp, which came out hot, fresh, crispy, and packed with flavor. To finish, we shared the Oreo cheesecake, and it was the perfect ending to our meal. Megan checked in on us throughout our visit, making sure we were enjoying everything, and her genuine hospitality really stood out. This was, without a doubt, the best customer service we've experienced anywhere in the Florida Keys. We can't wait to come back the next time we're in Islamorada!
