We found this driving school on Yelp and bought the 3 lesson (6 hour) package. Luke did the first two lessons and Ricki the third lesson. Both instructors were amazing. They are very structured in what is taught, have a great demeanor which is so important so that your kid isn't stressed and instill confidence. Luke took my kid on the freeway during her second lesson which I was surprised by, but they know what they are doing. The office was great about scheduling a lesson last minute and I appreciated the ability to text them and have them confirm by text. They are also very fair. I was originally planning on paying for far more hours and they said that 3 lessons were enough for most and if after that I wanted more that I could decide then. 3 lessons was enough. I actually wanted to book more than 6hrs but after the first 2hrs lesson, Sabino said 6hrs are enough. He could have easily taken advantage and have me pay for more lessons. I really wanted to like this driving school. They seemed nice initially but after they screwed up with scheduling, Lety acted like it was our fault. I feel like if you are running a business, then good bookkeeping and record keeping should be on the forefront of your business but unfortunately it wasn't. This is the way to go for your teen. My son had Luke and Sabino for his 3 lessons and passed with a perfect score last week at the Torrance DMV. They are easy to schedule with - Lety does that via text and is very helpful. A couple of his friends used different schools, one never even took the student on the freeway in the 6 hours of instruction time. I was happy that Sabino got my son right out on the busy road on his 1st lesson, on the freeway on his 2nd lesson, and for his 3rd lesson just practiced the driving test until he was dialed. He is now comfortably driving back and forth to his high school via the 110 with supervision, and in a few months, on his own. Before taking a course with Luke from Avers, I contacted one other school and their customer service was terrible. I had two weeks before my drivers test and I needed a car desperately and I they were the first to come up on yelp search. I called and Letty was very kind and informative! I felt comfortable enough to make an appointment for a lesson before my actual test and that lesson with Luke helped me get over my anxiety with testing as well and having all my questions answered! I took my test today and got an hour of practice before the exam, and I passed! I recommend getting lessons with Luke! He definitely makes you feel confident in your driving and isn't hostile like other instructors. I recommend making an appointment with Eduardo, he will make you feel confident for your DMV test. Eduardo taught me what I would expect for the DMV test, and he explains everything you need to know very well. My first instructor was Rick and I found him great and fun to drive around with. Definitely made the whole experience less scary. May have gone on a tangent for too long but overall very good and did not make me nervous or uncomfortable at all. I paid to have the recommended amount of classes and also to use their car and instructor to complete the driving test. During all the beginning drives, I was driving a Subaru Impreza with Rick, a nice small car. I got very used to the car, so used to it that on my mom's personal car , I wasn't as good with the acceleration and braking compared to the Impreza. During my driving test, instead of the nice small car I was used to and been practicing on, practically the only kinds of car I've driven since I started, Sabino showed up with an SUV instead, I think it was also a Subaru in grey. Coming from only driven small cars since, this was a big change. I don't think driving an SUV is more difficult but its different and that is the last thing I need when coming into a driving test. On top of that, Sabino was not as layed back as Rick and would give me anxiety. My confidence for the driving test fell and was a huge waste of money. I ended up taking the test a second time with my mom's car and ended up passing without the help of Avers Driving School. read more

I know people always start their bad reviews this way but I really do wish I could give them zero stars. A late review over the disappointing experience I had with them over labor day weekend. Initially I went to Avers to book driving lessons because they had amazing reviews on yelp so I was very excited to book. They responded fast and a woman called me back on 08/28 to set up the driving lesson. We ended up scheduling the lesson on Monday the 3rd because the woman said it was a holiday and they had more open availability that day. The lesson was scheduled for 11:30 am. She took down my address and phone number (gave her my cell number) as well as my email address. Done, booked! Well come Sunday night 08/02 I received an email from them almost at 9pm stating they had been trying to call me "all day" to confirm my apt. They said in the email that they left me a voicemail and then called me all day again but no response so they moved the driving lesson temporarily from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and if they didn't hear back from me they would cancel altogether. Fine. HOWEVER, I never receive any call from them at home or my cell phone. Also they said temporarily moved my lesson?? No more like permanently because I replied right back to their email and then said the timeslot for 11:30am was no longer available. Why they didn't reach out to me via email earlier in the day rather than waiting till 9pm to try is beyond me. I received a text back from someone telling me they apologized for the confusion. They had a 310 number down as the number to reach me. I have no idea where they got this 310 number. I thought maybe they were trying to reach me at my work number but when I got back to work on Tuesday I went through all my voicemails and guess what, no voicemails from Avers like they claim they left. Also very disappointed that whoever it was that took down my info and booked my apt for me FAILED to tell me that someone would be calling me a day in advance before my apt to confirm my apt again. I thought it was set and all I had to do was show up. Had I known that, I would have made sure to double check what number they would be reaching me at! They did offer to reschedule but after looking forward to the driving lesson and then having been so disappointed I decided not even to respond to them any longer. Thanks but no thanks! They are not the only driving school. I wanted to share my experience so everyone is aware of what could happen to you. I guess make sure to double and triple check they have your correct phone number or they will stick some rando one in your file. What a joke! *side note: I didn't take the 2:30pm lesson because it was labor day and I already had plans. I wasn't going to let their mistake ruin my holiday plans. Damn what can i say, this is the best Driving School you can take your children, sibling, friend, or yourself to. Sabino is way ahead of his time on how he runs his company, treats his employees, and sets the curriculum on teaching you how to drive, and thats the thing, he'll teach you how to drive first, then teach you how to pass the test. I had gone to a "traditional" driving school located in Torrance, nothing but unprofessional, waste of my time and money, instructor was nothing short but rude. Honestly after that experience i didnt know if i even wanted to learn to drive anymore, and sure enough i found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Communication: 10/10 , i forgot her name but the lady that handles setting you up is f****** amazing, she kept in contact with me even when she had just gotten off work. When Sabino came for my first lesson, he parked, came up to my doorstep, and picked me up, this dude is super enthusiastic, has a strong and great personality, and wants nothing but the best for you. When i was walking up to the car, Sabino told me that they dont use any signs/stickers on their car to indicate that your a "student" , honestly scared me for a second but he made a good point: When you get your license you're not going to have that sign, you might as well start to learn to drive where people arent going to cut you any slack for alerting everyone that your a student. Car of choice: Subaru 10/10 DAMN, this is such an amazing car to drive and learn in, i had drove in 2 different ones and had a great experience, i loved driving this thing. Now to the actual learning, Sabino has a great curriculum, i wont leak it but it can seem boring and repetitive at first, but it wasnt till we actually hit the road where i noticed how much his lessons of doing this over and over helped. He wont shy away from telling you you're doing something completely wrong, but also hype you up when you get something perfect. He has amazing patience too, he wants you get it right. This dude will instill nothing but confidence in to you, not just for driving but for your life too. Once i learned how to drive, we went over and did some practice tests, emphasizing mirror checks, speed limit, safe turns etc to make sure you pass. I took a 2 week break and came back to do one more lesson with him, haha i will never forget him calling me out on my bad turning, i started watching my dad a lot more and got into his habits which were wrong, but i soon fixed. I unfortunately took my test MONTHS after all this, got a new job, had stuff going on but always remained confident in my ability to drive when i could. I just took my test last month and passed, i would not recommend doing the same, take that thing right after you finish the course.
