Great coffee, generally not too bitter and just enough flavor in my opinion. I am pretty picky about coffee, I would say on a scale of weak to bitterly strong flavor, Avid coffee is a solif 7. Espresso is a kick and their drinks and seasonal specials are delicious. Good food too. Quality all around and their support other local businesses by serving and incorporating their products. Nice atmosphere too. Definitely gets busy at lunch time and on weekends, but they tend to be efficient. Would recommend. read more

Atmosphere: 5/5 - cute, modern hipster vibes. Definitely go here for the ambiance, but may be hard to work as it doesn't have quiet coffee shop vibes, rather more of a hangout. Service: 5/5 - line was out the door, but nobody seemed annoyed about it. The service wasn't poor, it was just so good that people were willing to wait! Drinks: 5/5 - I'm not sure we appreciate the gourmet coffee life as much as we do just a cup of simple coffee. I had my friends try just to confirm that my taste buds weren't completely blown from the groumet lunch and wine tasting I had earlier, and well, they all grimaced in disgust. I can't even begin to describe the abominable flavors in here. 1/10 2. Latte 8oz $3.75: Actually, I liked their latte. Very smooth and creamy. Non-offensive. Somewhat light bodied. Nothing distinctive, but I was happy to drink something that I could actually stomach after that nightmare. 5.5/10 3. Biscotti: Stale. Sandy. Gritty. My go-to coffee place. Part of it is proximity, but I wouldn't keep coming back if it wasn't up to snuff. Coffee here has been uniformly very good (I typically stick to traditional hot espresso-based drinks and sometimes brewed coffee), and their food ranges from OK (pastries trend toward this end of the spectrum) to pretty nice (my favorite is their salami, white cheddar, and pepper jam sandwich). My wife finds their tea offerings to be pretty good and reasonably well-prepared; she's a fan of their fresh-squeeze orange juice. I regularly buy beans as well, which I've been happy with. The location is OK. I like the decor; the motif is clean and modern. There's a reasonable bit of outdoor seating which I frequently take advantage of. I often wish I were in their Petaluma location, which is a bit more intimate and on a downtown shopping street. The Santa Rosa location is more 'in the middle of a parking lot'. read more

Every time I come home to Santa Rosa I'm really excited to try the places that have opened since I've moved, and I'm happy to see more of these modern trendy places pop up. My friend and I came here for breakfast and coffee the other day and i love the vibes and decor. Really fresh and open with great outdoor seating. Iced matcha late- delicious, some matchas really do drop the ball but this one was great. Avocado toast with soft boiled egg- this was really good as well. I loved how soft it all way. I get avocado toast often and a lot of the time it's on really hard bread that makes it harder to eat. This one was perfect and the soft boiled egg made it delicious. The only thing I would recommend is having it be a take a number and have your food brought to you kind of place. Because once you find a table you have to keep checking if your food is done and when you're sitting outside you have to leave all of your stuff to keep going back and fourth. read more

There are several positives about Avid at Montgomery Village. First and foremost we really have a liking for the friendly greeting we get at the counter. Plus overall staff friendliness is noteworthy. Coffee always great. Outside seating a plus. Just a really nice place to enjoy a cup of coffee. Stopped in Sunday for a quick bite to eat en route to family function in Kenwood. Great location, super YUM food and the fella working the front register was so nice - and it was busy in there! Ordered the avocado toast with soft poached egg - was just perfect, Oatmeal with dried fruit and walnuts was fantastic and my vanilla latte was perfection! *Only* reason I didn't give 5-stars was due to super rude and dismissive gal (barista with the blonde hair and tats) who flat out gave me a dirty look (as if I was really putting her out) to ask if the drink on the counter was mine so I didn't take the wrong one and also gave my husband stink eye when he had the nerve to ask if he could get a glass of water. I've been here three times. I'd give 4 stars based on my first two visits, but 1 star based on just today, and I definitely won't be going back. My first two times here, I came in for a bag of coffee and a latte. The employees were super friendly, and the latte was excellent, but the deduction comes from the bags of coffee. Both times, they didn't check the roast date and gave me a bag that was roasted a month ago. I had to check when handed to me and ask for a bag that was more fresh. Both times, they didn't have anything fresher than 2.5-3 weeks old. Still, the employees were very nice, and the inventory is out of their hands. Just today (10/17), I went in for another bag. I first asked, "Do you guys have any Moka Java that's within 1 to 2 weeks old at most?" Another one of the baristas in the background chimed in that they just got a fresh box. Great, I said I'd take one. After I paid, the one helping me out just went and grabbed one off the front of the shelf. I checked the date, and the roast date was 9/22. I asked for one of the fresh ones, since I was just told a shipment came in. The one helping me went to another shelf, checked a few of them, and came back with one from 9/29 - That's from 2.5 weeks ago. You're telling me you just received a fresh shipment, and the beans are already past their peak freshness? If I'm going to support a local coffee shop, I want freshly roasted beans. I then asked if they maybe had any of the Bodega that was fresher than that. The other barista who originally said they just received a shipment chimed in, without even knowing the bag I had been given was from 9/29, "That's all we've got buddy," in a snarky tone. 4 1/2 Stars Acre Coffee is the nicest coffee/tea shop in my vicinity of Santa Rosa. I enjoy it most of the time, like when it isn't jam packed on weekends. Mid-morning during the week is good and often very pleasant. They have all sorts of the usual types of coffee drinks and fresh brewed teas served in French coffee presses. I ask for ceramic cups or mugs when I stay to enjoy the nice shop or outdoor tables. Something relatively recent is the offering of Revive Kombucha on tap! It is a very healthly, lightly effervescent, fermented drink served cool. It does a tummy good. Try it with one of Acre's grilled cheese sandwiches or breakfast frittatas. Acre is a good place to people watch. All manner of laptopping, smartphoning, and iPodding just like most coffee shops. But, Acre has an upscale, semi-sophistication to it that you might expect in the affluent Montgomery Village Shopping Center. Acre Coffee is not an acre big . . . but, apparently they think big. I have pretty much found my new go-to coffee house. Honestly not sure what haterade some of these reviewers drank before writing their reviews cause maybe they went somewhere else? Maybe they're just haters.... that's fine, more room for meeeeee... This is why ACRE rocks... + Beautiful open space, vaulted ceilings, filled with tons of natural light. A dream. Honestly I want to live in their building, paint and drink beverages all day. What can I say, I am easily swayed by a business that clearly has good taste in decor and presentation. + The staff was nice, helpful and accommodating. + It isn't a churn of the mill, assembly line coffee joint. If that's what you want, go to the evil siren. + The gluten free cookie I had wasn't baked with cardboard. I can't really say anything bad dude. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! They offer paleo coffee AAAAND cinnamon rolls! Why is it so hard to find that combo at any other coffee shop? Paleo coffee is easier on my stomach and I'm so THRILLED that I found a cafe that makes it! And while not frequent, I occasionally crave a cinnamon roll with my coffee and Acre offers a cinnamon roll danish which is less heavy than the traditional icing rolls. What a busy Sunday at a coffee shop! First time visiting Santa Rosa and decided to stop in. Like all coffee houses built in the past five years, the interior design is impeccable. Everything looks really lovely and Instagram ready - bright whites, warm woods. The acoustics are terrible, though, which is a decent way to sum up a lot of the coffee industry. Coffee is unsurprising - it's not awful, it's not amazing, either in an Americano or Cortado. It's another roaster. Food options are solid, with the salami baguette being insubstantial but with delicate flavors, and the breakfast biscuit being flaky, well made, and thick. Is it a destination spot? Yes and no. The lighting is lovely, you have the feeling of bathing in sunlight while you drink coffee, but the Acre roasts aren't excellent enough to seek out. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Acre. The chai is amazing! Coffee is great! Like the openness of the building. BUT this is a big but... *** note to owner*** If you offer non dairy alternatives (fantastic) get a separate steaming pitcher for them! Allergies are a real thing. Also the rudeness of a certain brunette female employee when I asked my cup not be contaminated with dairy would be nice to do without. She wouldn't even tell the barista to wipe down the wand or use a separate steaming pitcher because " we don't do that. Maybe you should get something else?!" As much as I still love Acre Coffee I've come down off my new coffee place high. Latte's are definitely their strong suit. I've since tried their black coffee and it has a burnt taste and doesn't have near the care put into it that the espresso-based drinks do. Absolutely love this coffeeshop, an all time favorite. One of the best places to get an iced latte or mocha. Always great sandwiches, snacks, pastry items. A little pricey but well worth it. Beautiful interior location, great to sit with a laptop or read a book. It can get pretty busy during the day or on weekends. Friendly staff, familiar with me as I used to go a couple times a week. Only con would be the flies, especially on a hot day. There's not many good coffeeshops in Santa Rosa aside from Starbucks and Peet's so I was excited when this new location opened up. By far my favorite coffee shop in Santa Rosa! The baristas are so sweet and make you feel at home right away! They had me at hello! I got the small latte and the home made granola parfait, both were excellent. My boyfriend got the hot chocolate since he isn't big on coffee and he loved it! Horrible customer service. I ordered a large mocha and had to pay .50 for whipped cream. I asked for XX hot . My drink was $6.00 so you think I could have what I paid for. The barista handed me my drink and I said right away it's not hot enough. She replied, " I burned my hand making it". I stuck my finger in it. It was lukewarm. She said she would remake but put my drink at the end of the line. The next mocha was the same temperature It took 15 more minutes to get it. There was no manager on staff so I made a judgment call. I knew that these folks didn't care about my business. So I simply won't return. My feedback though is genuine. I don't mind paying for anything as long as I get what I order. Worst coffee I've ever had. Super bitter and undrinkable. I just dumped it out. How do people even drink this swill?

Have been to Acre Santa Rosa a couple of times and enjoy the break from the big coffee chains. The drip coffee is good and perfectly strong. Tried the egg breakfast sandwich with bacon ($6 or $5 without meat); nice thick hunk of a frittata-like egg that had zucchini pieces (I think) and an awesome English muffin-more corn meal like, held up to the egg and meat but not tough and good complement to the fillings. Price is reasonable for what you get and nice not having to pay a $2 or $3 upcharge for meat. Inside is a little loud as others have noted but enjoyed a seat on the bench outside. read more
