A great place to find a wide variety of food in Santa Rosa. I appreciate that there is a lot of variety in the menu. Now, that does mean that there is breadth and not depth in terms of the food, but there something for everyone (smoothies, coffee, Mexican food, sandwiches). I also appreciate that the seats have a lot of outlets next to them and the wifi is free. It's the perfect place to sit for a couple hours and get some work done. I'm all for supporting local coffee shops / cafes and enjoy going to Soco for my occasional espresso or tea latte. Whenever I go, there's never a line or a madhouse like how Starbucks or Peet's can get. There's even a small parking lot behind! No need to worry about finding parking on the street. Staff is nice and always smiling. They also have non-dairy options too, if that's how you roll (cuz that's how I roll with the oat milk). It's quiet with an overall relaxing vibe. They also have some pastries/desserts; I think it would be great if they had more selection of pastries. Recently, I had the golden turmeric tea latte (with oat milk of course) and fat-free oat cake. Tea latte was yummy, good way to start my morning. The oat cake is dense and more on the harder side, but kept me full for a long time! read more

This place was really chill. The crowd was mostly older folks enjoying their morning coffee. It had a very laid back comfortable vibe. I had coffee and a bagel with cream cheese. There was nothing spectacular about them. The coffee was good but a little weak lacked flavor department. The bagel was decent but a little light weight and bready. I did enjoy the music though! Went in because this used to be Cafe de Croissant. Owner & staff were very nice so my husband and I decided to stay. We ordered bagels with hummus and coffee. While waiting, I noticed a lot of deferred maintenance. Windows dirty, floor not super clean, tables not fully wiped. We waited a short time for our food. The bagel was not very good. Definitely pre-packaged and not fresh. Hummus was nothing special. Coffee (vanilla latte) was good. Food totally not worth it. On the way out I used the bathroom. Not clean and out of toilet paper. I would NEVER go back. Only gave them 2 stars because the people who work there were very nice. My advice - skip! read more

I know my coffee shops. The location is fine, A coffee shop is needed there. The atmosphere is awful. The exterior of the place is ugly, and the interior is too. I don't care about the exterior, but a coffee shop with a bad interior and terrible iced coffee just won't do. I didn't try the regular coffee. The first thing I noticed going in there was an off putting smell. Possibly disinfectant, I'm not sure. It was more sterile than a Fast food joint. The walls were sparse, the floor needed covering up. The owner needs to go in there, sit down at the table (which needed wiping) and say to himself or herself "why don't I want to sit here?" A simple can of dark colored paint would go a long way. Perhaps some stain resistant carpets, sofas, things like that. Perhaps some interesting posters on the walls? All I know is that the place currently has all the romance of a coroner's office, including the metal tables. Another thing, iced coffee should have a sweetness that comes from the roast itself and it should be brewed at twice the strength of a regular batch. I think they were using French roast or something, which is not right. read more

I've been here twice, which means... This place is worth the visit, considering I have a Keurig coffee machine at home that does just fine for $0.58/cup. This coffee house is right on the corner of 4th/Montgomery (?) which you'd expect to have busy parking, but it isn't a hassle early in the morning, (around 8am), unlike Peets, or Starbucks... Which always has a line. The selection of pastries is about the same as Starbucks, although honestly... I think they taste better. The coffee is made individually, the guy behind the counter (barista)? takes his coffee making skills seriously. Nice, quaint/quiet atmosphere on weekday mornings. I'm in/out in less than minutes with coffee, and pastries in hand. read more

We stopped here on our way out of town east to I-5 before heading north to Eugene, Oregon. The woman making our coffee was very friendly, which is always welcomed. My Americano was great. The clientele of this coffee shop is quite different than any other I've been to. The age distribution of people frequenting the shop almost has a bimodal distribution with the first peak at 8 years old and the second around 60. They have toys for kids to play with so I think that is what draws the first peak of clients. Not sure about the second one. Thursday afternoons a weekly knitting circle gathers here. This week there were about 10 women huddled around the large table discussing knitting and all sorts of current events. If you are one for a quieter environment while working I would make sure to bring ear plugs if you're coming on a Thursday. I had a caramel latte when I went and it was fantastic. It wasn't at all bitter which is what I like in any espresso drink. I love that they have "for here" cups in all different sizes. There is nothing like curling your hands around a real mug while enjoying your coffee. My other favorite parts of the shop are the local books and artwork for sale. The 3 star review is just because this coffee shop isn't really my scene. However, this is a cute shop and the espresso really is quite good. read more
