Thought we were going to be outside on the enclosed patio and knew it was going to be raining so we were thrilled to be seated inside by the fireplace instead. Price fixe was $65 pp so a bit steep but the bottomless drink options definitely helped. We enjoyed everything we ate and the service, restroom cleanliness and atmosphere were all on point. Came here a handful of times in the past several years. Food quality and customer service went down hill. Was there yesterday with a friend to get a couple of burgers. I ordered a simple cheeseburger with nothing other than the patty, cheese, and lettuce to wrap it in. Was also given a side salad, which I asked for just lettuce, nothing else. She ordered a cheeseburger cooked med/rare, with everything expected to come with it. The entire time we waited for our order to go, the owner was at the bar staring us down, and made us feel uncomfortable. We left as soon as our food came out, which was unusually quick. We left to go eat at the marina down the street. We opened the bags and saw that we didn't get what we ordered. My salad had crushed croutons mixed in with the lettuce (I'm gluten free for medical reasons) and I couldn't pick them out. Her burger was well done, no bun, and the food have her a stomachache. On top of that, they didn't give us any cutlery or napkins. Our food was given to us in black tied plastic bags, and we didn't check because we were ready to leave due to the passive aggressive hostility of the owner and the other customers eating by the bar. Our orders combined came out to $45, plus her tip. We ended up throwing out most of the food. This was my friend's first, and last time coming to Avino's, and this is my last time. Came here with my parents for their birthdays and was blown away by a single bite that I had of my dad's dish! It's a special and it's incredible! My mom got the meatball and it was decent Went back on Father's Day and it was a decent meal. We all wanted to order the osso buco, but sadly it wasn't a special :( My parents got the fish special in two different styles.. The fish was fresh and delicious, but the proportions in the size of fish varied greatly. My dad got a small piece of fish at my mom received a larger one. I feel like if you're presenting the same dish consistency is king.. I don't even remember what I ordered. I believe it was an ok burger, hat's how unmemorable the dish was. My parents love the food but I was not blown away on either occasion for the $300-400 bills I paid. The ambience is not high-end, but I like that. My sister tried this restaurant for the first time we enjoyed it. The restaurant itself is very cozy and homey as it is in an old house and we walked through a variety of rooms to get to the different dining rooms. The two rooms we saw even had fireplace places in them. Everyone on the staff was super nice and service oriented. Our waitress was very good, but we enjoyed the bus boy even more with his upbeat personality, excellent service and great smile. They have a number of dining options, including a prefix menu which we took advantage of. Between the two of us, we had baked clams and a fried artichoke appetizer, Uncle Leo's chicken, Nonna's Sunday sauce with meatball, and ice cream sundaes for dessert. All the food was delicious and the portions were plentiful as we both took home half of our entrée, which will serve as dinner another night. This year for Valentine's Day my wife and I decided to go to Avino's Italian table. We have been there several times in the past and have always enjoyed it. This is a quaint cozy establishment featuring great food and great service. As usual, Avino's did not disappoint. I have however deducted one star due to the fact that they offered a four course priced fixed menu . This was not noted on their website or told to us upon entry. Additionally, the price of price fixed menu was not disclosed until I received the check. At that point I discovered it was $100 a person, a bit steep but the food was delicious. For the appetizer I had the baked stuffed clams. They were excellent. A nice amount of clams and a healthy portion of bacon. My wife had the fried eggplant stack which she described as a large portion , crispy on the outside soft inside covered in a good amount of cheese and flavorful sauce. Next up was the 2nd course. I went with the Italian wedding soup. It was good, not great and wasn't quite hot enough. My wife had the iceberg wedge salad. She said it was cold and crispy. She is not a fan of bleu cheese or onions so she took them off and added balsamic dressing. For the main course I went with the lasagna. Absolutely fantastic. Truly an authentic home made Italian feast . Loaded with meat including sausage. Excellent dish. My wife had the lobster and shrimp Alfredo. A generous amount of lobster and shrimp covered in a rich and creamy Alfredo sauce. Delicious. Desert was a trio of pastries for each of us . A cannoli , a chocolate covered strawberry and a piece of tiramisu. All quite good. Let's not forget the drinks. A had a few old fashionds and my wife has lemon drop martinis. Both well made. Our table was ready upstairs, I'm sure that's where the overflows go because we felt like the forgotten child. Our drinks took forever to come and my water was only filled once. I was amongst great company so it wasn't too terrible. The food and the drinks were delicious. My espresso martini arrived after everyone finished their dessert so I had to take it to go. We were there for lobster night and were very disappointed. I ordered the stuffed lobster tail for $50, it was a joke. A lobster shell with some baked mush and one tiny mouth bite size piece of lobster. Never had a waiter check on us for the meal while he visited with two ladies at another table for most of our visit. Best part of the dish was a slice of watermelon. What can you say when everything is excellent. From Anthony our waiter to Grace our busser who kept my water filled. We started with the Risotto balls, they came four of them and they were devoured quickly as they were just fabulous. They sat my wife and I on top of another couple with multiple other tables available. She and I both noted it and thought it was bizarre. Not a huge deal, but in a well managed restaurant, they would avoid the hostess doing this. Even the couple next to us looked uncomfortable. 2. Reservation was made a week in advance and then we were told that there is only a price fix menu for Valentine's Day the day before when they called us. We felt trapped in that we weren't going to find another restaurant that late in the "Valentine's Day game." Seriously disappointed as my wife and I aren't huge eaters and typically share. The night cost $277.00. Food, ambiance, and service were excellent, but wouldn't go back out of principle. We felt a bit conned by the experience. I've been thinking about trying this place for a long time. I'm a big fan of Catch in Patchogue and I believe it is the same owner. We went with another couple and the dining room was very cozy and comfortable. We had shrimp cocktail, stuffed clams, and calamari for apps. Dinner included the fruitti di mare, egg plant, shrimp pasta and a salad with blackened shrimp. All entrees were amazing and the service was on point. I ordered Stuffed Clams, Fried Cheese, and for the main entrée I had the Short Ribs with Mashed Potatoes. The Stuffed Clams were absolutely delicious. Brought back memories of having them in the Bronx. The Fried Cheese was very good, which came laying in tomato sauce and basil. The Short Rib plate was delicious, very tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes tasted fresh and flavorful. I asked for Broccoli Rabe with the dinner, and I should've had the vegetables that originally accompany the dish. I have not dined here in about three years. I was a regular, coming at least once a week during Happy Hour, but I stopped when the food "fell off". The taste of the food was subpar. Because Rich M, a Yelp friend of mine, frequently dines here, I decided to give Avino's another try. The food has gotten much better. The chicken wings are crispy, and the blue cheese and hot sauces are incredibly good. The appetizer reminds me of what I had when I went to college Upstate moon years ago. Upstate has the best chicken wings on the planet. Buffalo wings were created at The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY. There are few successful dupes, and Avino's Italian Table's recipe is one of them. The Basil Hayden Old Fashioned was good. It was even better when I asked Mike to add some Bourbon Cherries to replace the Maraschino ones that he had put in. The service has also significantly improved. Mike actually came from behind the bar to my table and asked me what I would like to order. Several years ago, the bartenders did not do that. The crowd is mature (over 25 years old), diverse and casually dressed. If you ever have the itch for authentic Buffalo wings, go to Avino's. Mike says they sell them 10 for $10 every day of the week during all business hours, not just Happy Hour. After a three-year respite, I certainly will be coming back here more often. read more

Yesterday my friends and I decided to try a new - to us - Italian restaurant in Bellport. A beautiful little town located in Suffolk County, NY. The restaurant can host parties and small receptions. For dining there are two locations. The first is the veranda, which, since it is still chilly, is covered. The second is the upstairs dining area. We chose the veranda. Our waitress arrived promptly and brought us an extensive wine list. I ordered a Malbec - 2009 "The Marshall" from Argentina. The serving size was excellent and the wine was indeed good. We arrived for towards the end of the lunch seating and were able to order from the lunch price fixed menu. As an appetizer I ordered the baked clams and as an entree I requested a dish of "rigatoni bolognese." The clams arrived after a few minutes. The three large stuffed clams, were, to my surprise laced with a large Canadian bacon sliver, in some sort of doe impasto containing a chopped clam... Tasty, not so much. I feared that this was a harbinger of what was to come. Regrettably, I was right. The pasta arrived shortly thereafter. My expectations for a hearty red meat ragù mixed with ricotta smothering a hearty bowl of rigatoni, were dashed. What arrived instead was a broth laden, heavily spiced with Italian seasoning, concoction of sliced mushrooms, chopped carrots, chopped zucchini(?) and one or two plum tomatoes halved covering a pasta that was 'not' rigatoni under a dollop of ricotta. Oh, I forgot to add that the meat amounted to two table spoons of nothing other than sausage. Apparently, the chef has never been to Bologna, probably never heard of Emilia-Romagna, nor stepped foot in Italy. Why did I not send the plate back? I feared that whatever I ordered would be worse. To my surprise, the maccheroni, the one I tasted for this review, was cooked perfectly. It was the presentation of the dish and the taste of watery mixture that was not at all pleasing. When the desert menu arrived, I declined. I simply ordered a cappuccino. Regrettably, my cousin's Keurig prepares a better, hotter, and richer tasting cappuccino. Would I give the restaurant another chance. No. My takeaway 1. Limited parking 2. IF you must go, be sure to ask how the dish you are considering order is prepared. 3. Fixed price menu can be a good deal IF you like how the dish is prepared. 4. Best part of the meal was the excellent service. Our waitress was gracious and helpful. read more

A gem here in the village of Bellport. First time here and we were not disappointed. Arrived a bit early than our reservations but was seated right away. The bar area was packed. It was Good Friday so we wanted pasta and seafood. We ordered the baked clams to start off. They were delicious. My wife ordered the Capellini con Shrimp and I ordered Shrimp Parmigiana. Both were cooked and presented perfectly. We also ordered the house garlic bread that was amazing. When it was brought out other customers were like "we want that". So good. A bread bowl sliced with mozzarella cheese and a drop of mixed vegetables. Very unique as we have never had this served this way before. A must!! The staff was very professional and made sure our visit was enjoyable. The restaurant itself is a very cozy house converted into a restaurant. Very nice wine list and a nice beer selection. All in all 2 stars. We wanted to like this place so badly but it's just always a let down every time we come. We moved to Bellport about 3 years ago & this is right down the block for us so we keep giving it a shot. We've been here about 6-7 times now & even brought my parents but our lamb was bleh so underwhelming & undercooked, our steaks were overcooked, the food took over an hour to come out as usual, the service is always meh, this server was snotty the last time because we asked for our steaks to be cooked med-rare & they came out well done & we asked for new steaks & she rolled her eyes!! Like girl...c'mon. & we're great tippers, we all work in the industry so that was just an epic no no for us & the last time we'll try this place. The atmosphere is cute, vintage vibes & a cute outside patio & the bartender made me a wonderful drink with grapefruit juice & mezcal & he was very kind but talked a lot lol.
