I have lived here for 2 years and I can truly say it is one of the best places that I have lived. The maintenance team here is top tier. I've never waited longer than 24 hours for an issue to be resolved. You see them zooming around the property and they are always knowledgeable and hardworking. The office staff is by far the best, Matthew is so great with handling residents and ensuring all of our needs are met. The Property Director Krystal stands out as such an amazing leader. The way she maintains this property and is always so friendly and kind is really something to be praised. She has not only maintained a level of excellence but has moved the bar higher for any future Directors. I truly enjoy living at Avion. I have called a few times about it. People blast music at the pool way louder than allowed. Negligent management that does nothing about it.

Scion at Spectrum has an amazing living complex. However, the gym room / exercise room has broken equipment. Treadmills with no incline ... 3 of them that do not incline. Yet have 1 stairmaster and it's unfortunate because I have informed them of the broken equipment. It's clear their concern isn't with the fitness community that resides here. Hoping this review gets someone to understand and take care of us that spend over 3k for a 2 bedroom. P. S. Please fix your treadmills at least since we can't have 24 hour access to the little gym facility. read more

Let's see, where do I start. My daughter lives in this complex. She had just had surgery last week and I was staying with her for a week to take care of her. I had the parking pass/permit displayed on my dash the entire time. The night before I was due to return home, my car was towed!! We walked out to run errands and hello, no car. I thought it was stolen because there was absolutely no reason to think it was towed. It was after 6 pm and I still called the office and left a lengthy voice message. My daughter's roommate suggested we call the towing company Western Towing. We did and to my surprise my car WAS TOWED!!!! the lady stayed for no "permit" ?!?! What? I have the permit! We went to the towing company to take a picture of the "permit" on my dash. I was so upset that this happened. I took pictures and had to pay to get my car back. The next morning, of course NO call from the complex at all. I realize they don't care, but wow oh wow, I called and spoke with a young kid named Anthony. It's because of him they are getting a 2 star! He needs to be retrained! 1. He said there was, no voice message. 2. He first said, there was no record of a car being towed. 3. BUT, he had the information about my car? 4. He stated it was towed for no permit. I explained to him the permit is there. He clearly didn't care because he said, look I know your mad your car got towed... EXCUSE ME?!!!?!! If I didn't have the permit displayed, I'd owe it and wouldn't be calling!! I'm upset because the permit IS THERE. He stated he had a picture. I told him I also have a picture. We went back and forth. I proceeded to ask how they determine weather a car gets towed or not because their signage states "All unauthorized vehicles will be cited or towed at the owners expense". I asked what makes the difference of a citation or towing. He stated during the day business hours while they are in the office they can notify people. If it's in the evening after hours and their security is there it gets towed I then asked for the security company's name he provided that to me and then I asked for their contact information. He told me he does not have it and that I can Google it. I then asked for their website and he told me, "I told you to Google it!" I then proceeded to ask for their corporate contact number so that I can complain about him. He said he does not have it! Anthony has no business being in the office and dealing with people. And the reason that they are getting two stars at this complex is because it is a very nice complex and it is nicely kept up but some of the people in the office or I should say Anthony in the office is not helpful read more

Management is okay-- sometimes they respond and sometimes they don't. Recently I have had no response hence why I am leaving this review. I have emailed three times now about concerns about the lack of parking spots available and amount of commercial vehicles occupying spots for residents. In addition, there have been an increase of cars without guest permits at the complex but none have been ticketed or towed. However my roommate who had a car on file as part of the lease had not been given a permanent resident permit for her car ended up having her car towed! Not to mention the side gate has been broken (also emailed about this) and there were multiple instances with tree cuttings at the entrances-- which is fine but I received no notice about the events. The lack of communication by management with residents lately has been a huge issue. At this point I am more frustrated with the lack of any effort by management than I am about these concerns. Besides management and parking issues, the complex is nice and has great amenities for the price, however that should not overshadow the issues that management cannot seem to get a hold on or address with residents. read more

Been living at this complex for almost a decade. Nice location, gated community, very spacious rooms, great amenities and always felt safe. I've lived here for about 3 years now and will continue to do so. I know some residents have been long residents here and I can see why. Pros: - Friendly staff members - Maintenance is fast and easy to book online - Amenities are maintained well - Gym is clean - Neighborhood is quiet unless you're facing the main street - Easy move-in and move-out process - Good central location that has a cute neighborhood - People in the are nice and love to make friendly chat - Dog friendly and poop gets picked up Cons: - Every summer, the trees shed the sappiest, stickiest, flowers known to man. If you don't have a covered spot or a garage spot, you'll need to start a weekly budget for washing your car. The trees are ABSOLUTELY terrible and a big reason why I am giving a 4 star review instead of a 5 star. Not sure why management thought these trees were a good idea because it's a nuisance for all residents and maintenance workers. Even walking around the neighborhood, you'll get the flowers stuck on your shoes. You bring it into your home. Your dogs have it on their paws. It's in your car. Annoyance is an understatement for me as these flowers make me angry every single summer I see them. - When Christen M. was a leasing consultant, she was incredible in getting things done in a timely manner. After Christen M. left, management is just not as great. Some staff members are great (Hannah), but some other staff members you'll have to contact them multiple times to get an answer or they simply just don't know what to do. read more

I've given this company so many second chances but I'm running out of patience. Our garage door tracks were clearly used and damaged when moving in. Yesterday they finally broke and the whole door fell off. We can't get to our car and the office has hung up on us multiple times. After finally getting through to someone we don't recognize we just found out that no one is even working here on the weekends anymore. When we moved in, everything was damaged. The problems wouldn't even fit on the inspection form they gave us. Floors are literally peeling up and the laundry machines broke almost immediately. Good luck getting any kind of answer from maintenance. Apparently they've downsized and are only processing emergency problems now. Some of the leasing office staff are very friendly and pleasant (Donovan) which is why I've held off on reviewing for so long. Others seem annoyed by any simple request (Anthony). But this company is teetering on the edge of being slumlords and covering it up for the tours as best they can. My advice: look anywhere else. During covid you may not be able to tour the unit you plan to move in to. Don't trust the model unit or the virtual tours they send you. The videos hide the damage and shoddy workmanship. Floors peeling up, moldy dishwashers, exterior lights falling off, baseboards not touching, and damaged cabinets just to name a few problems we found on day 1. Edit: I should also point out that at least half of the pedestrian gates into the complex are broken and won't close. Be prepared for random people coming in to dig through the dumpsters for cans and bottles. This doesn't bother me so much and they mostly stay to themselves, but it definitely wasn't what I expected from a gated community. read more

The property is gorgeous and the units are spacious and upgraded. It's also in a great location that is central to almost everything. I searched and toured a lot of different apartments in San Diego, and this was in my top 2. Most units have everything you need, including dishwasher, washer & dryer in the unit, and they all come with a parking spot (either carport or garage). The rent is competitive, especially with the quality and amenities you are getting. I was torn between this place and another place, but ended up going with the other one due to it being closer to my work (the only drawback). However, I wanted to leave this positive review for the great experience I had with the leasing office staff. Samantha, who was helping me, was extremely helpful and responsive to all my questions, and made the experience extremely pleasant and positive! Under new management, Avion at Spectrum has truly been there for us every step of the way. From Maria introducing us to our new home and immediately addressing any of our concerns to Rebecca the Manager showing that it's the residence priority that always comes first. I can't say that it was a perfect transition. With first move-in day concerns, as well as, disruptive neighbors the team here showed an equal concern in every matter coming to a resolution to the best of their abilities. With the new management team starting nearly the same day we moved in, I have honestly never have scene such organized, driven and positively happy team such as this. Of course the amenities such as, the newly updated pool, Jacuzzi and weight room makes for an highly exceptional community for any family. Before considering moving to this property, you may want to pay more attention to one of the selling points listed on their website. Avion @ Spectrum apartments states that they provide a safe and secure environment as a "gated community". As you are paying more to live in a gated community it stands to reason that it would be safer. As a tenant living here, I have experienced firsthand the increase in homeless people entering the property through open gates day and evening and going through the community garbage bins. In addition, there has also been some vandalism to vehicles during the night hours. Some tenants have garages but the majority of the vehicles are parked in open spaces offering no protection. The property should be better lit in some areas to discourage such activities jeopardizing tenants' properties. Unfortunately, property management has not responded to previously submitted complaints either verbally or in writing. This is the third point you should be aware of before making your decision to move in at this location. read more

They do a great job of maintaining the common spaces, including the plants / trees which makes a big difference in the overall feel. The apartments themselves are beautiful and spacious. My boyfriend and I moved in about 7 months ago. It is a nice complex, relatively quiet some nights we have crazy people yelling and screaming in the streets and sometimes we have speed racers on the street behind the complex racing. Most people are very friendly we tend to see our neighbors often, and all our dogs love to play together. Of course there are the spear few people that just make problems or complain about every little thing and that is normal, there are always those people. The apartment itself is nice and a good size, but the appliances could use an upgrade. The fire alarm goes off randomly, mostly in the middle of the night when we are sleeping for no reason. The oven takes forever to heat up and takes so much electricity. The shower is very touchy as well, it is usually either burning hot or ice cold and sometimes the pressure is so low it feels like showering in the sink. My dog loves the grass areas available, but is seems a lot of people do not pick up after their dogs which is very disgusting. The policy is to pick up after your dog or be fined for it, and never has that been enforced. The grass areas are well taken care of but they water it way to much that a lot of times mushrooms grow because it doesn't have a chance to dry. My dog has also developed a bad allergy problem with his feet because of the moisture and mushrooms in the grass. The customer service is not the best either. Donovan in the front office is one of the most disrespectful, arrogant customer service reps. I have ever talked to and the attitude he has is just ridicules. I have talked to him a few times and every time it is nothing but attitude and disrespect. Working in customer service myself, if I was to ever talk to a client in the manner he talked to me I would be fired. I find the two ladies are very kind though. All in all this place is adequate, but needs some serious improvements especially in staffing, their appliance, rent, upholding policies and quality. We are looking for a new place because this place is really not worth the rent price. read more

There are several apartments in and around this area, which is great, this one stands out the most because of the very friendly staff namely, Donavon. We lived here for several years (5). The area is very convenient, just off 163, 15 and 52. They are many places to eat on Spectrum Center Blvd or a short drive away. There are lots of places you can walk to. The management generally takes good care of the property. Anytime you need something fixed they normally come within a short time. Once they started lowering the rent the place seemed to look more run down, lots of pets and people not cleaning up after them. You can rent out the clubhouse if desired or if you have a family member staying you can rent out one of the furnished apartments per night. read more

This place is extremely overpriced and management is absolutely terrible!!!! The leaves fall on cars constantly, but if you want to get a car wash everyday this is your type of apartment complex. If don't like receiving the packages you order on Amazon, then live here because porch thief's are plenty. If you want management to respond once a month then look no further! If you want to walk 2 miles to your place because there is no parking, then park here! If you want a pool that is treated as a public restroom, then you found your forever home. If you like construction happening right outside your window at 8 am, then you early birds found a spot. An update to my previous one, which sadly isn't good. First and foremost, Chris is the only person that we will deal with, and from other reviews it looks like he is agreeably the best! Keep up the great work Chris! Now onto the ongoing and new issues. Parking- still a huge issue! And, the manager says it isn't going to change and they realize people are parking illegally, blocking others in, and just not using their assigned spots or garages. It's ridiculous. One reviewer says they haven't had an issue as long as they get here by 7:30. I'm glad they are okay with it, but I think it's a bit ridiculous considering not everyone can be home by 7:30 just to be able to park in the complex they pay decent money to live and have things such as parking available to them. I have attached photos that show the blatant disregard people have even in the middle of the day when there are plenty of available spots! Maintenance- if you happen to get an unlucky apartment or just get the occasional thing that might need fixing, be prepared to fix it yourself. My husband has had to replace a broken pipe under our sink, continuously re-glue the "upgraded" flooring that was installed right before we moved in, and has now had to fix our garage door after 2 separate times maintenance saying they were coming and then not showing up. Essentially, living here go by the rule of "if you want something done then do it yourself." I hate having to resort to yelp, but I have emailed greystar and I have talked to the office and nothing has gotten resolved. Or the manager just tells you it's not going to be fixed. I can see how this place can be really great but sadly the management is completely ruining it for us. So if you are considering moving here, take caution if things like parking, promptness of maintenance, and expecting a leasing company to uphold their end of the deal are important to you. And if they aren't, like you will see in my previous review, Avion at Spectrum does have some great things to offer! read more

I have added an additional star to my review due to the attempts at customer service since leaving my initial review. I, admittedly, wrote that review in a moment of anger. I failed to mention any of the positives of Avion and do give their team credit for their attempts to remedy the situation. After leaving my review, avion gave me a call so we could make a plan to fix my list of problems. They promptly worked to schedule a time to power wash the building and immediately sent a team over to fix our cabinets. Unfortunately, my significant other was not prepared for the handy men to arrive at random, and they were unable to resolve any problems. We have a dog, so we can't have anyone in he apartment if we are not there. This has made it difficult to resolve the maintenance issues. It would have been nice if we could have resolved the issues when we first moved in and had some time off, but at this point, we both work and can't be home often to supervise repairs. Avion asked me to amend or delete my initial review now that they have made customer service a priority. I feel I cannot in good faith delete the review. After my conversation with management, I learned they are working through a contracted renovation team that seems to have more projects going than they can manage, likely the cause of their sloppy work. The fact remains, the events of my initial review did happen and it took a review to get anything done. I will, however, mention the many positives i failed to include. We love our refresh floor plan. The apartment flows nicely with 2 bedrooms and and open kitchen/living space. The apartment is, indeed, beautiful and well designed. Great modern color scheme and a fire place! The leasing staff know me and greet me warmly by name. They have (finally) expanded the gym hours. read more

I love living here. Called maintenance to have them look into why our master bath wasn't getting hot water, they came same day and fixed the issue. Dog friendly, quiet, nice area, convenient location, the pool area is AMAZING since they've upgraded everything. We are always using the BBQ pits. Pool is heated and salt water. I took a star away due to the parking issue. There are cars sitting in spaces that haven't been moved in a while. Someone mentioned the car service, I've seen those SUVs taking up spaces also. read more
