Bell Road and 67th Ave. - Not a good experience at this location. Desk staff was unfriendly. The SUV we rented for our vacation had high mileage for a rental (35,000). Strong odor of cigarette smoke. Vehicle exterior was dirty when we picked it up. Engine hood was loose and rattled and shook our entire trip - very annoying at 75mph on the freeway. Original tires on the vehicle had very little tread left. Tires were underinflated and triggered the dash warning light when we ran into cooler weather in the mountain areas. Horrible! If there was an option for zero stars I would select that. We made a reservation for a car and were told everything was squared away. when we went to pick up the car they told us we needed to pass a credit check which was not mentioned while we were making our reservation. The staff's demeanor changed, they became sharp and rude after we told them we were unaware there would be a credit check. I definitely recommend going to a different place. read more

There was no hassles with renting a car, I was in and out after less than 10 minutes. The staff was very nice and the car was clean, it was cheap, and it was easy to drop off the car at the airport with the most convenient airport drop off lot for car rentals! read more

Terrible service. Acted like we were ruining their day by bringing in our business. All we wanted to do was add a driver I out current contract and they refused. Mike and Myles were the employees working at the time. I have nothing giants Avis but these two guys seriously need to improve their customer service skills. If you do come here don't go when they're working. read more

With 3 customers in line and the phone ringing over and over, she maintains her professionalism and deals with each customer quickly, efficiently and with a smile. Only one person working so took a long time to check in. Once Mike helped us he was slightly rude. We specifically made reservations for a compact/ economy car for the gas mileage. Yet the vehicle we received was a minivan. Not thrilled about that nor the gas mileage for our trip. Why offer a service if you do not have the products to deliver? read more

BEWARE! I am only giving them one star because it won't let me give no stars. Avis ran my credit without informing me. I was alerted that they ran an inquiry and when I contacted them I was told that it was a soft inquiry only and would not affect my credit score. The next day I was alerted that Avis actually ran a HARD INQUIRY and it shows on the Equifax report that we applied for credit or a loan through Avis. I was furious I wouldn't normally care but I am trying to get qualified for a VA Home Loan and every point counts. I called the Glendale location and they referred me to customer service. Barbara Haseley the customer service rep told me they were sorry and would send me a letter to send to Equifax to have the inquiry removed. The letter I received today was not the letter she said I would get. The letter basically says "sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you". Barbara flat out lied to me to get me off her back!!! I called today and the cust service person told me she never heard of Avis sending out such a letter to remove an inquiry. She was trying to get rid of me so I requested to speak to a manager. She still put me off until I had to practically yell at her. Now I am told a manager will call me back. Avis also charged us a $200 deposit without informing us. I didn't realize that until I checked my bank the next day. What if someone was on vacation and needed that $200. I don't have a problem with them having to charge a deposit when using a debit card but if they would have told me I would have used my credit card. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE. I rent a car monthly and have never had this much trouble with any other company. I am going back to Hertz!!! They are cheaper anyway. read more

Bell Road and 67th Ave - My experience here I can only classify as racist. I returned a car with the gas gauge reading a bit short of full - so I drove back to the gas station and forced 1.5 gallons into the tank and the gas gauge did not move. When I went back the desk ladies insisted I was being cheap and I lied about filling it up. The car was literally missing a gallon of gas which most of the time is overlooked as a courtesy and even after satisfying this request I was humiliated in front of other customers when I asked her to go fill it up herself and close my receipt. I even showed a receipt and explained that the tank was topped off. The ladies looked like they were on the same page about making my day a miserable one, but I was not going to let them ruin my day so I left and went home. The next day I come to find out I was charged for an additional day of rental and $43 for gas at $15/gallon. There are no explanations for these charges as the car could not take in any more gas. I've rented cars for over 20 years and have never been "nickle and dimed" for gasoline or being minutes late. I understand being thorough behind the rental desk, but being petty seemed to me like there were underlying agendas. read more

Tried giving them a chance to make this right but they have elected not to. I reserved and PAID for a specific car (BMW X5) for a trip 4 months in advance. I did not want a giant SUV nor could I have a sedan. There were tons of options and I even called to make sure there wasn't going to be a bait and switch before reserving, after I reserved the car and about a week before pickup. I was told each and every time the only other car it would be is an Infiniti FX or whatever that equivalent for Infiniti is. After triple checking with Avis, and having all my stuff packed and sitting by the door with tickets and reservations for my trip, a pet sitter, etc I got a ride to the Avis location and low and behold I walked in and the girl at the desk said we don't have your car. She had attitude with me and said well you got some crazy deal so sorry it just isn't here and the only car we have for you is a BMW 5 series sedan. Now mind you I have a boatload of stuff needing to go into this car as well as a car seat and never would I have booked a car. She told me I could cancel and get my money back - the money they had no problems taking 4 months ago - but that there was nothing else for me. I was very nice, took the car because I had NO other alternative and left to go dump half my stuff before loading this tiny little sedan. It was a nightmare, I was scared shitless driving this tiny car and felt unsafe. If I wanted a sedan I would have reserved a sedan. When I called customer service on the road they told me I was SOL and never once offered to compensate me even a tank of gas which in that car would have only been like $40!!! I even did a survey afterwards and expressed my opinion and asked someone do something to show this isn't going unnoticed but nothing, zilch, nada! I run a business and if I ever treated my customers this poorly not only would I be blasted all over the Internet but would never earn their business again. To me that hurts more as I value customers but apparently Avis does not. Very disappointing. read more
