The worst AVIS ever! Do not go there! 1)This Huntington Beach AVIS is independently owned by a family (more specifically a couple). This means that there is only one person (Fez) and at most two people in the office to attend to customers' needs. Most of the time, there is only one person, the owner-Fez, in the office so he has to close the office to give a ride to a customer. (It seems like they do so to save the cost of hiring a driver, but they do not think about the fact that they are losing their business.) Unlike any other AVIS that I have experienced, they are not professionally trained and their knowledge & skills are sub-par. 2) The owner of this AVIS has no sense of customer service. When I returned my car earlier today, he repeatedly asked me if I filled up the tank. He was yelling and not being courteous at all. (I think.... why do you need to ask?? Just check the tank and you will see.... ) 3) When I arrived at my bodyshop, Fez refused to help me unload some stuff in the back of the car due to his neck pain. He did not even pretend to help me. (He did not even get out of the car when I was unloading so much stuff from the trunk) 4) Possible fraudulent recording: I only drove the rental car 37 miles and, on the receipt, Fez recorded that I drove 100 miles. When I asked him why, he stated that he did so to avoid the extra charges which can occur if a renter drove under 45 miles. I do not believe in his reasoning. The receipt should show the mileage accurately and any AVIS waives a charge for gas if a receipt is present. 5) Possible fraudulent reviews on Yahoo: I read some reviews on Google reviews & Yahoo : There is a strong evidence that Fez is manipulating the reviews. He is the worst manager I have ever dealt with. The bottom line: If you use this AVIS, you will be very sorry. To get your money's worth, I recommend that you do not use this AVIS and go somewhere else. From my experience, LAX AVIS was pretty good. This AVIS does not deserve your business. read more

Horrible customer service!!!! Must avoid!!! The manage is completely a thief! I rented the mid suv on 8/15/2015 at 10am and i want to trade to the bigger one on the next day so i told the reserved it for me. On the 8/16 at 10 i called them is my car ready and they said it almost ready so i said is it ok if i come in 1hour and they SAID IT's Ok then i come at 11h 15 and they charge me 2 days instead of one because i was late!!!!! Very disappointed. Have been using AVIS for my car rental needs. This will be the last time. My appt ran early, was able to return the car 1 full day early but because i prepaid i was told i would not get a refund. Encouraged to pay early bit not told about this "small print". Originally told i would get refund check on mail but then next day got a voice msg saying "oops" made a mistake, no refund. Avis lost a good customer. read more

I was renting a car to make the trip up to the in laws. I went on Cost Co travel and found this location to offer a SUV at $25 a day. I booked the car. Service was good when I got their. On the Cost Co travel site it said a standard SUV which is a Ford Edge or something similar. When I got the keys to the SUV I realized it was a Nissan Xterra. Not the most comfortable SUV. The seats were not real clean inside but the car drove fine. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience as the people working the counter got me in and out really fast and at the rate I booked it for. Sometimes it's a gamble on what type of car you are actually going to get. I would rent from them again, but possibly not a SUV since I know what this location has in stock now. read more

The place also rents for budget I picked up my car and was running late when I got in the car it smelled like someone has been smoking in it I took it anyway my fault as the day went on the smell only got worse so when I returned it the guy was a asshole told me that was the only car left and if I did not like it I should not taken the car he is right all my fault with service like that I would look to rent a car from anyplace other then budget I would've rather walk then ever go there again read more

Try harder here! I called the week of September 4 to check if they offered customer pick up, the female customer representative said "Yes" as long as you live within a five mile radius. She seemed very efficient and I made an online reservation. Then on my reservation date, I called for a pickup and the male customer representative stated that I needed to CALL 24 HOURS prior to make a pickup reservation. Can you believe that? Calling Avis on behalf of a guest, and I can't even get someone to answer the phone, nor do they have a voicemail that is set up. Called customer service and they were not much help either. Awful. Cars are not clean. Staff wants to appear to be nice and helpful, but in reality they are none of that. When I was given my car, I was told they had no other cars or else she would have given me an upgrade. After looking at the car, it was filthy...mud every where, something sticky in the middle console (probably a spilled drink), crumbs all over the seats...basically the car hadn't been cleaned. Amazingly there were other cars, but she would have to charge me more if i took one of those..what happened to my upgrade if other cars were available?? So, I had to wait another 20 mins for them to "clean" the car...basically it was in the same shape. Needless to say, I will never be renting from this location again. Note: This is an independently owned and operated Avis location...not sure this was disclosed on the Avis site, but I didn't see it. Also, not sure if it matters or not, but based on the condition of the car, definitely didn't match all my other past Avis experiences (typically rent from airport locations). read more

I rent with Avis nation wide all the time and have for years. I rent cars probably 3-4 times a month because I travel so often for work. I've never had a problem with the company until I came to this location. The man inside had my reservation wrong and instead of talking to me about it he had me call customer service in his store. I had originally paid for gas service, (option 1) as I always do, but it for some reason wasn't on my reservation. My daily rate was also $170 dollars more than my receipt said and he couldn't give me a reason why. After being on the phone with customer service for an hour I decided to just go get gas and pay the extra daily fee bc I was tired of dealing with the situation. I told the Mohamed Salama, the man working in Avis that I was just going to go get gas and then come right back to pay. He said ok and that he would be there and wait. When I came back 15 minutes later the location was closed. He had locked up and left me with no options to pay or return my vehicle. This location has no after hours drop off. I once again called customer service and the man on the phone was very polite and said that he was sorry about what happened and that I was unacceptable. He also told me to just return the vehicle the next day and that he would make a note for it to be at no additional cost and gave me a reference number. When I arrived the next day to return the car Mohamed was unapologetic about closing the shop on me and refused to use the reference number that I was given on the phone by customer service the day before. This was the worst rental experience I have encountered. DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION. I mean, unless paying unexplained fees and being treated poorly is something you are into... I went there to rent a car for a few hours so that I could pick up my mom, from the hospital, after surgery, in a higher riding car than the sports car I normally drive. I was crunched for time and needed to get the rental. I was not going far for this trip. I called ahead and explained the situation to someone, I don't know his name, but he was male. He said that was not a problem and they can help out. When I got there, I talked to a guy at the front desk and mentioned he was the one who talked to me on the phone. So I trusted the guy to be honest and when I heard the price of ~$60, I assumed it was a ~$50 vehicle + taxes (it was an SUV which tend to be more expensive). Not a problem. He was helpful and made sure the car was appropriate for my need by helping me check the seat height in the back. When I returned the car a few hours later (I only needed it for a single trip), I talked to someone else and she noticed I didn't drive the car much. She told me that there is a 'lack of use' fee I could be charged. The guy earlier never mentioned that, even knowing what I was going to use it for. I thanked her for being honest and moved on. When I left the store, on the receipt, I noticed the car was only ~$25, but the man earlier added ~$33 in insurances I did not want nor need (My credit card takes care of that). He never asked or brought that up. Bad on me, I signed and paid for it without being diligent and double checking. I should have caught it earlier. But he made no effort to help me or inform me what else he was adding on. He took advantage of the fact that I was in a rush to help my family to add charges onto my bill. I will never give Avis my business after that. I know it's probably just one person, but he represents the company. read more

I walked in without a reservation and Moshira, the owner, hooked me up with a rental, GPS, and baby car seat for a great price. I took the car for a week and later needed an additional week. I spoke to Moshira on the phone and she extended my rental. When I retuned the car, I asked for a ride back to my hotel. Again, Moshira was very accommodating and arranged a ride back for me. If I could give this place a 0 I would. Booked the car on line and received an email that the car was ready for pick up. When I arrived the man behind the counter said the car was not there and I needed to wait for an hour or longer. I notified him I was on my way to attend my fathers funeral and he said he could offer me an upgrade for an additional 30 dollars a day or wait. I asked him who I could call and he said check your email for a phone number. The number on the email was his number and he would not offer any additional assistance. I finally had to go outside and call an 800 customer service number. I ended up going down the street to Enterprise; Enterprise did not have a car either so they upgraded me free of charge and had me on my way in less than 10 minutes. read more

Had few bad experiences here, I believe in giving second chances and sometimes even thirds, which is what I did for this Avis. However every time I've gone here something has gone wrong. It was little things at first. My car wasn't ready, they didn't have the size car I booked though I booked 2 months advance, but this last time, I booked in advance and paid in advance as well. When I arrived the owner over charged me, I mentioned I had pre paid, he said it was a deposit. (But I had never had to leave one before) so I'm confused but I thought maybe it was a new stipulation of rental. So as I'm pulling out in the rental the owner approaches me and tells me "he over charged me, crazy me back in to get a refund" (there was not supposed to be a deposit) not only did he re-charge me for what I had already pre-paid he charged me TWICE! Which meant over $600 of mine was unusable because it takes 5-7 business days to see a refund. So needless to say my entire vacation was a disaster because of his "mistake" I had planned this vacation months in advance and it was ruined with his carelessness. Did I get even a small apology? Nope, nothing. I'll NEVER use this rental place or refer anyone here. Don't waste your time on this unprofessional location. read more

I agree you don't get Avis preferred service like Hertz etc with local franchise owners get lower service . It is incredibly difficult to find a car-rental facility that is actually open on Sundays without having to resort to renting a car from an aiport, which is generally more expensive, and more time consuming. I arrived at 8:55, and the door was open, so I went in. The male clerk stated that they open at 9, yet he would help me anyway (great customer service). I had pre-paid for the rental, so there really was no fuss. It probably took only fifteen minutes from entering the facility until I was in the driver's seat and heading to vegas. Returning the car was quite easy, yet as mentioned by the other person who posted, there was only one person in the office, and all I wanted to do was drop off my car, yet I had to wait 15 minutes so he could help the people in front of me. Overall, renting from AVIS was a great experience, and I have already reserved another car for a future date. :) read more
