This is the 9321 South Tacoma Way location: I reserved a specific type of vehicle and it was not there. I thought that was the point of RESERVING a vehicle. Apparently, this was of no concern to the desk person. When I said the type of vehicle I expected (FULL size SUV) she said they don't have one (but I RESERVED one and had confirmation of the reservation!) She then, more or less, said take it or leave it when she gave me keys to a Dodge Hornet (NOT a nice vehicle and not what I needed- it's a COMPACT SUV). No apologies, no "Oops!- we made a mistake" - just "here is what you get if you want it". I will stick with Enterprise from now on. Half of what I needed to move had to be left behind so now another trip will be needed and another rental and the time involved. Extremely disappointed. read more

This applies to the location at 9321 s tacoma wy in lakewood washington. I had an issue with a car I had rented at the airport. The local branch is supposed to take care of these problems. Instead I was told I would have to take the car back to the airport (an hour away). The car was causing my wife physical problems and she couldn't ride in it. The local staff didn't care. The supervisor was called by the clerk and refused to speak to me about it. And I am a "preferred Member" because I rent so often from Avis and spend so much money with them. I called Customer Service and they told me the local branch is supposed to handle these problems. Apparently Avis doesn't believe in customer service. Especially this branch. The supervisor there should be told to find another line of work. Beware if you deal with this branch, unless you want to be disrespected and insulted by the staff. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but I have rented and extended my rental from here a few times and always have a quick, friendly, professional experience. He must work every day because I've always been helped by Josh who is personable, sharp, and friendly. Would definitely rent from this location if future needs arise! read more

I would give them a 0 if it was an option. Rented car for my birthday from them and got a electric car. had to cancel plans because I had no idea how to charge the car since the agent never bothered to show me. Called customer service to see if I could change cars and was told to go back where I rented it from to exchange the car. Once I got there let the manager know what was going on she told me that she had no other cars on the lot and that was it didn't call any other lots to see if they had anything else for me. I asked her why customer service would tell me to go there and I could change cars and her response was probably to get you off the phone. As a manager myself in Customer Service my staff or myself would never say that to a customer. I spent $600.00 on rental that sat in my driveway a majority off the time I had. I have tried to talk to a manager about this with no luck at all. Very very poor customer service, I think twice before renting a car from them. read more

I reserved a car over a month in advance at this location, and they called 2 hours before my reservation and canceled. The agent was rude and told me to try the airport location (an hour away). Nothing more needs to be said. These local Avis branches have no idea where their cars are. read more

The experience I had with Avis Lakewood was truly zero stars. My husband is in the military and needed a car for our vacation. He told the lady at the counter that things might come up and he might have to return the car at a different location. He was told Avis understands the challenges of being a service member and he should not worry. After returning the car at a different location (in Tennessee), he got a bill from Avis Lakewood that had a $750 fee on top of what was agreed on. We tried to speak to the lady at the Lakewood, WA location and did not receive anything but lack of empathy and consideration. My husband and I were previously loyal customers of Avis but after this experience we will not be returning to Avis. read more

We rented a Budget truck from another location earlier in the day, and were told to return it to this location. When we got there, at 7pm, we found that they had closed at 4 PM!!! And they did not allow drop offs after hours. This did not work for us, as we still had to drive 3 hours home. We called customer service, the number listed on the door. I got the runaround from them before being told I should have "checked with them before I rented the truck to see when I could return it"!!! I asked if there was another location anywhere in the vicinity that I could return the truck, to be told that they were ALL CLOSED!!! The customer service rep was RUDE and not at all helpful! I will NEVER use Budget truck rental again!!! read more

This place is a joke. There was only 1 car on the lot, so we had absolutely no choice on what car we got. Then 2 days into the rental, the car got a flat tire, so we had to get a new one. The only car they had for us was dirty and smelly, but we took it because we needed something. When we returned it, the owner 'Ben' was claiming that because we 'returned and got a new car' rather than 'exchanged' it, we would need to pay extra. He was unapologetic and stupid. We had to deal with a flat, a dirty car, and an extra charge for nothing. And, he was claiming that nothing was wrong with the tire, when clearly it was flat, so I guess now they'll give this dangerous car out to the next customer. I would never go to this place again - horrible cars and customer service. read more

After the first car I got had a mechanical issue, the second car smelt like weed. They said they would spray it with fabreeze. Obviously didn't work! Now I have to try for car number 3 tomorrow. Last time I rent from avis. Not worth the money. read more

I'm really sorry that others had issues with this company. On the other hand we were delighted with Ben and his wife Jedidah. I reserved a standard car a month ahead and called Jedidah about needing a comfortable seat. On September 10, 2018, when we got there we were given a 2018 Ford Explorer 4WD. She had tried to get us a Nissan. Since the Ford was all that was sent to them they gave us that vehicle. It was a $200. upgrade, which we were not charged extra. Very clean and smelled new. Further more, by going directly with them, over the phone we saved another $200. over Costco price. We drove the vehicle for 2 weeks and returned it back to the same place. Reserved a truck days ago to move out of my apartment on June 30 (seeing as its the last day of the month and my lease was up). Drove there on time at 9am today, the guy says oh yeah I have your reservation. We don't have a truck for you today (there were 2 perfectly good ones my size and the next size down in clear sight). I said ok well I have to move what do you expect me to do, thats why I reserved (I promise I wasn't a dick about it). He said "maybe we will have one at 2 or 3 but I don't know, we will call you." A call before I left would have been great. Since it was day of around noon by the time I couldn't get a truck anywhere, so I had to pay friends to move things in small pickups and turned a 2 hour job into a 14 hour one with stuff I still have to pick up tomorrow (thank god for a nice landlord). I called corporate, they "emailed their manager" and he might call you back in 2 hours. Never heard from either of them. Cancelled eventually just so I didn't get some bullshit charge. Still watching for that. Never, ever, ever, ever use this budget. They're not only rude (and the guy was pretty blank when I asked questions, so also stupid), but they'll just hang you out to dry. The manager and staff Hid behind the counter instead of helping us!!!! After a tire blowout on the freeway, we contacted roadside assistance, who put the temporary spare on the vehicle, and called the Lakewood AVIS location to setup a replacement vehicle for us. At 20 minutes before the 5pm closing time of this office, I also called to ensure they would be there, and to advise we might be a couple minutes late due to the 50 mph limitation of the mini-spare tire. When we arrived at 5:02, the door was locked, and we saw Nina, the manager, and her two employees, Justin and Daniel, actually duck and hide behind the counter to pretend that no one was there!!! 2 minutes after closing, phone calls from us and from AVIS Roadside assistance, and they can't help us out with the replacement vehicle. It was Unbelievable!! After 10 minutes, they finally came out - since it was apparently the only way for them to get out of the office. Locking the office door, they kept repeating to us, take the car up to the SeaTac Airport AVIS for a replacement - which is nearly 40 miles away!!! They were actually upset that it was 5:15pm and they were late!!! Really??? This is the poster child for NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT or EMPATHY. I recommend to anyone, DO NOT STOP OR USE THIS AVIS LOCATION. It is an Independently owned/operated AVIS location. They will only provide FRUSTRATION!! STAY AWAY!!!! They had the opportunity to be a HERO - instead they will and are a ZERO!! read more
