I made a reservation by calling a customer service 24hrs before picking up the car. All done and I was given a confirmation number only to get a call on the day off picking up that they do not have my car. Left me only a few hours to find a car. I called the customer service, only to find out that they couldn't help me due to a short notice. Clueless and unwilling to work harder to help a customer when clearly they are at fault. Absolutely DO NOT rent from this Avis!!! Absolutely ridiculous that I was charged $75 for a pet hair fee service when I did not even have a pet in the vehicle!! The car was never cleaned out before me and now I'm being charged. And the fact that there is so little hair anyway, it does not warrant a $75 clean out. His solution was for me to go take the car to get cleaned and he won't barge me. It's my fault that I rented here again because this is actually the second time I received a dirty, uncleared car from this Avis. RENTER BEWARE! Bait & switch tactics practiced here. Booked through Costco travel, given confirmation email. Called location to verify availability of vehicle. Everything is good until you actually arrive at location. Most places I've rented vehicle never had issue running my visa/debit card. But this place insist you have a major credit card. Upon returning vehicle is when you found out why. Rental rates/vehicle insurance rates DIFFER than originally booked through Costco. They verbally offer you a "discount" for taking additional insurance, yet will put different rate upon signing. They even got the rentals days incorrect! Additionally they WILL ABSOLUTELY charge you for cleaning/"excessive" dirt fee. Save the headaches & avoid this place like the plague! read more

I am surprised by all the negative reviews! I rented a SUV for my Yosemite trip. Joey, who helped us, got us a free upgrade with unlimited miles. He was quick, efficient, and super friendly. We were in and out within 15 minutes! Returning the car was super easy as well. The guy who helped us allowed us to park the car there. We waited in the front and he quickly printed the receipt for us. The only note is that it is hidden within the Pacific Palms Hotel. So you can easily get lost. Just pass the golf course parking and it will be to your left. Will definitely rent from them again! read more

Never renting from here again. When we first picked up the car, it took forever to get our car rental. We were literally standing there for over 30 mins waiting for a small suv even though we reserved online. Once we got into the car, there was already small pet hairs everywhere but we were already in a rush and didn't say anything. Brought the car back and was charged for the pet hair. I'm not one to bash on business but this was some shady stuff that happened. Returned car from 3-day rental at 8:25am to Karina, the worker there. The rental was due at 9:00am. She sends me my receipt via e-mail, with the return time at 9:59am, 59 minutes after my rental was due, resulting in an almost $30 extra charge. Had to call Avis corporate to get the charge reversed. Best part about all of this? I had the gas receipt on hand with a 8:19am gas fill-up roughly 2 miles away from the rental place and she tried to pull this stunt. Reserved a car today for an estimated $210 and confirmed over the phone that the car I had requested (Full Size) was there. When time came to pick up the car they told us that there was a mistake and they did not have the car. Fine... so what can I have? They tried to give me a Mustang but I would have to pay $40+ MORE for THEIR mistake. Disagreed to take the Mustang and asked for something else, long story short I ended up paying MORE for a much SMALLER car. They were completely uncooperative. Not only will I never rent from the place again but I will avoid Avis entirely. I rented a minivan for a road trip through Costco. The vehicle itself was good and there were no issues. However, I have a serious issue with this particular branch office. It's located in the Pacific Palms Resort, a nice place, but I can't say the same for the office here. The guy who works here is very unprofessional...as far as appearance goes. His shoelaces were untied, not to mention that they and his shirt was 25% tucked in with his undershirt sticking out everywhere. It looked like he either just woke up or he just came out of the bathroom and had no time to fix himself up. When I was returning my vehicle, he repeatedly asked me what vehicle I had. I told him three times within ten minutes. Customer service is terrible here. The Enterprise, about 10 minutes away, is way more professional and friendly. read more

I recently went here to rent a car after a traffic accident. I went online to Costco.com/travel and selected the car that I wanted and reserved it at the Avis on Industry Hills Pkwy. When I arrived, it was very politely pointed out to me that the reservation I made was for the following day and that it would be difficult to get me the American made SUV that I wanted. THEN, when they finally move heaven and earth around, I tell them, great, I need to bill this to my insurance. It turns out, I was that nightmare customer who wanted a specific vehicle, had the wrong reservation, then wanted them to bill someone else. They made all of that happen! Left with no car and a toddler, it was past 6 by that time, after taking a Lyft there. Had to pay to take another Lyft home. Went next morning to Enterprise and was in and out in 10 minutes. However, this year they are under new management and the experience was great! Huge difference! Robert was polite and friendly! Joey the supervisor is Very courteous and professional ! This place is under new management so that Karina girl is gone. The new owner is...gosh I'm so bad with names..I think it's Daniel. He said he took over the business in February of this year. So as you can expect, he is pretty friendly. He was nice enough to pick me up (I was only 3.5 miles away), even though he was the only one working. I declined a vehicle protection so he gave me a discount on my rental car so that he could include the insurance without additional charge. So everything started out on a good note. Up until I received the car. It was dirty (the outside was shiny but it's the opposite inside). There's sticky spots and liquid spills in the front - on the mid console/arm rest, dashboard and steering wheel. And there's all kinds of fur in the back with dirty black gloves in the back seat. I was in a rush and this was apparently the only small car available so I didn't make a big deal out of it. I just disinfected my 'driving area' prior to the long drive because it was pretty gross. The worse part was the next day when I returned the car. There was a different staff (I didn't bother getting his name). He was rude and unprofessional. He refused to drop me off so I had to load my bike in the car when I returned it and was forced to ride in scorching heat. It was NOT a busy day. He didn't have any customers and was even chitchating with the hotel staff before he drove off the car. He also was very condescending during the whole time, as if he was talking to some uneducated person who didn't speak any English. I told him, "This business is pretty new according to your owner. You should be a little more professional and friendlier so you won't lose any customers." And he just looked at me. No apologies offered or anything. I travel for work/leisure and was planning on renting here again as I had a good experience with the owner. I have plans to rent this weekend, the last weekend of July, the whole first week of August and a LOT more travel plans..but I'll be taking my business somewhere else. read more

Booking and getting the car was average. Service from what appears to be the older owner couple was fine. Returning the car though was the problem with one of the reps. A lot of the blame is on my end for this, but I forgot a high-value item in the car and the rep that handled the return was super shady through numerous phone calls and an in-person visit to try and get the item back. I'm never coming here again. Everything started off great, I was told there would be an extra charge if the car was returned with pet hair, or smelled like cigarettes. The guy brings the car and I notice pet hair and the car smelled like smoke! He allowed me to exchange it but do they not clean their cars prior to renting it to the next customer? Or do they hope the customer doesn't say anything take the car and they will charge the cleaning fee when the car is returned? When renting a car for 4 days, we were one of the first ones there when they opened on a Friday morning. We were automatically given a sluggish HALF-CLEANED sedan. When I mean half-cleaned, I mean there was some buttery substance on the window that I had to go home and clean myself with Goo-gone. On top of that, the interior door panels had what looked like juice stains. I wiped them off myself, took no more than 30 seconds. That's not the biggest ballbuster. The amount charged on my card was almost $45 more than what I was quoted. When I rented the car, I left only what was needed to pay for the car rental in my debit account, so as you can conclude my account was overdrafted and consequently I was charged a decent bank fee. After calling to voice my concern, the lady on the phone said she could do nothing about the bank fees but I would receive a discount on my next rental (which will be never since I'm returning to Enterprise). I don't know how other Avis locations are, but this one is passable, no doubt. Even though Enterprise charges A TEENY BIT more, it's worth the professionalism. I'd rather pay another $10 to have a choice of which car and not be overcharged when I return the car, in addition to being treated like a person and not just like a sale. +1 star for being in a snazzy hotel. read more

Totally rip off. Don't rent the car there. Take 25 mins to get the car, ask me to pay cash to him so he can adjust a discount for my 5 mins late on return the car. He never count the time i'm waiting for the car. He wants the cash for his pocket and not report to the company. Be aware 5 mins late he will start charging you by hourly which is about $20 per hour. I reserved a compact car through the Costco app, got a confirmation that vehicle was available but when I went to pick it up I was told they did not have that size , the only availability was an SUV at a higher rate. It has been my past experience with other rental agencies that if they have confirmed a reservation & vehicle is actually not there upon pick up, they will upgrade at no extra charge. That was not the case here . Ronald is the person whom I dealt with, when I told him that I had a reservation confirmation he said it didn't matter & asked if I wanted the car or not. I had gotten dropped off there & didn't have a way to go elsewhere, and when I told him that had I known the car wasn't available I could have gone somewhere else, His response was " You should have." He was rude & did not seem interested in providing good customer service at all. After reading the reviews, after the fact, it seems that this is something that frequently happens at this location. I was very disappointed in this experience with Avis & will not be going there again. read more

If there was a ZERO rating I would have given this Avis facility that! I don't have anything good to say about this Avis. Customer service was Terrible, the vehicle was dirty inside and out when we picked it up, we were informed the gas tank was full and it was empty and we were charged more than the quoted price. Good customer service is the key to getting customers to come back. This Avis needs to hire new people who are friendly and know how to greet the customers. Also, the representative assisting us was working alone and didn't know what he was doing. He had to call someone on the phone to assist him. Absolutely TERRIBLE!
