We reserved a full size SUV for a family vacation. When we went to pick up the car the worker attempted to give us a midsize SUV. We informed him that this was not the size we needed because the full size offers cargo/trunk space and the midsize did not. The worker insisted it was "something similar" to what we ordered. I told him thats not what we need we need a full size like we reserved. I asked him what we can do because we are leaving on vacation. He recommended I call the costumer service number at 1800 331-1212. I spent 54min with the costumer service representative just to find out that the company could not provide me with a large size SUV at any nearby location. Journey is a liar, she claimed I checked out the car @ 9:57am when the car was wasn't even ready, it was being "washed" it was dirty af from the outside! I didn't leave Avis till after 10:15am-1030. She wanted to charge me a whole other day and keep the car. My reservation was set @9am from the day before, I showed up around 9:30 and the car was being washed. It's 10:07 and I'm still waiting for the car. Save your time and go elsewhere. If I make a reservation I expect them to fulfill it, and not at whatever time they want or are ready. Do better AVIS! This rental agency tricked me into paying a few hundred more than I would've paid had I not let the manager change my pick up time in order to "save me money". My reservation was from 10AM Thursday until 12 noon on Saturday! When I arrived at the Agency at noon to return the car, the agency was dark and closed. I called and the operator instructed me to return the car on the next business day so I went back first thing Monday morning. I was told that they closed at 12 noon (even though they had clearly closed early) and that I should've returned the car at 10:30 AM anyway! WTF??? I had no clue they had changed my whole itinerary! I only agreed to change my pick up time to 10:30 instead of 10:00, because he said it would save me a significant amount of money! Never did he mention I'd have to change the drop off time as well! Legally, I can't do anything about the fast one he pulled on me because he told me initial here, here, and here, and sign here, which I did. I was so grateful to him for saving me money, that I didn't think to read the small print on the contract indicating my whole itinerary had been changed! I chose the hours I did for a reason and there would have been no point to renting the car in the first place, if I had to have it back by 10:30! When I later confronted Alex (the mgr) about it, he lied and said he went over all the changes with me. I was happy with what I was going to pay in the first place, for the hours I needed the car for. This place is dishonest and use the fine print on contracts to make their money. I've just started running with at this particular location. In this particular Avis Hugo I thought was going to be a very straightforward manager comes to find out he's not when I rented a Hyundai SUV before I can get down the street to the freeway. The vehicle is shaking profusely. I called back in, and I explained that to Hugo Hugo was getting ready to close because I was like the last person the last customer there so I went ahead and kept the vehicle I went and took it to where I buy my tires from which is big old tires in the beautiful city of Moreno Valley when I get when I get there, put it up to just do a tire inspection come to find out the tire the threats. The metro threats on the passenger back tire was showing. He said you should not drive this tire no further because you'll probably have a blowout so I purchased two tires because the front tire had a slow leak because there was a nail in it but where the nail was placed, they could patch it or plug it. I go back to Hugo for the reimbursement. He says no they don't do that. No such thing I called two different Avis locations and I find out that yes in fact they do reimbursed. I received a text a day before pick up saying the car was ready in Covina. An hour before pick up I was told they don't have the car at the location and that I have to drive to La Habra to get a car. They tried to offer me a minivan which I declined because I needed a bigger vehicle. So I had to drive all the way to La Habra to get a car and they also didn't have the car I needed. They gave us something similar instead. Then upon returning the vehicle we had to drive all the way to La Habra even though we originally dealt with the Covina location. When I picked up the rental, I was given all documents and keys after paying. Wasn't escorted to the vehicle for inspection together in case if damages or anything. Nothing was noted on the form given so i assumed all was reviewed before. When i wenr outside to get the car I found that it was dirty inside and out. When I went in to complain, I was told that the keys must have been entered into the wrong basket. I was told that I could get a mini van then told that they can have the original rental (SUV) cleaned for me if I had a 1/2 hr. I agreed as that is what I asked for to begin with. Once that was finished, I got in the car and found that the tank was half full. The document I signed showed that it is to be returned full, just the way it was given to me. Again I had to back inside to let them know. They said "it's fine, they would adjust the paper work to reflect it" again without coming out to verify. I took a picture of the gauge just in case (date and time) and took a picture of what looked like a small burn on the seat. The car was new and a nice drive. When I returned the car, I had a better experience with the person at the desk but again, they did not walk out to verify anything on the car just told me there were no additional charges. While I appreciate the competitive pricing, I am not sure if the processes or the customer service is where it could be. Well, I paid and reserved a vehicle on the AVIS website. I reserved a Toyota Camry and scheduled to pick it up on Saturday June 22 at 8am. Moreover, I scheduled to drop the vehicle off at 5pm on Monday June 24. However, when I picked up the vehicle I was told that the price to rent the vehicle was $170.00. I explained to the individual that I had already paid for the vehicle with PayPal and the price was $137.76. But the individual kept on insisting it was $170.00 until I showed him the confirmation email sent by AVIS. Then he said that I needed to return the vehicle on Monday at 8am. Again, I showed him the email and explained that I scheduled the vehicle to be dropped off at 5pm on Monday. Nonetheless, after some frustration he agreed and I went on my trip. However, when I returned the vehicle on Monday June 22, with a full tank of gasoline, at 4:05pm I was told it was late. Again, I explained to the individual that I scheduled to drop off the vehicle at 5pm and showed him the email. That is when he said that I could have changed the email and he did not believe me. I became upset and explained to him how could I change an email sent by AVIS? Nonetheless, he told me it was late and charged my credit card $187.00 which upset me even more. I told him I had already paid for the reservation with my PayPal account for $137.76 and that the vehicle was not late. Furthermore, he kept insisting that he did not believe me even though I showed him the confirmation email from AVIS with the schedule times of pick up and drop off and the price. In addition, I showed him the PayPal email that indicated the purchase but to no avail and he still charged my credit card. So, I was charged twice for the vehicle, once on my PAYPAL account for $137.76 and $187.00 on my credit card. Needless to say I was really upset. Upon returning home I called my credit card company to dispute the charges and I was told I was charged $187.00, $170.00, and $365.00 by this corrupt AVIS employee. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THIS BRANCH!!! The manager Alex is the WORST at customer service. First of all, the car that we had reserved was not available when we got there. Okay, fine. Then the car that we did get was dirty as ever when we got inside. Okay, fine. We went on our trip and came back safely. When we came to drop off the car, I went to speak with the manager who seemed to be taking his sweet time on a personal call, laughing and ignoring me, the "valued customer". While I was waiting for him to finish his personal conversation, I had a chance to look around and see that the actual business venue was as dirty and unkept as the car they had given us. To make matters worse, when he finally got off of the phone only to tell me to GET OUT when I asked him why the car was so dirty when he had gotten it. He pretty much pushed me out the door and locked it. I kept my cool the whole time knowing that the place was as shady as the manager looked. I was in shock! I called the corporate office and filed a complaint, which was an easy process and the girl on the phone, Valerie, was very calm and nice and helpful. I was very upset that such a big company allowed people like Alex to manage their branches. He couldn't even speak English, and his customer service skills were non-existent. He seems to only help the Spanish speaking customers which whom he was also ignoring until the last minute. The employees that work there looked very unhappy and stressed out as well. There was a girl named Aisha who checked us in and she was as inattentive as the so-called manager. She tried to give us the car without checking it, asking us to mark the slip if there were any dents or damage to the car. Why is that the customers job??? Horrible service. I'm here because Enterprise down the street messed up. So I'm not here by choice. So this place just opened up. Nice friendly sales person that treated me pretty good. I got my Ford Fusion. It was a very nice ride and economical too. But you do have to return it right on the dot the next day. Make sure and put some gas in it before you return it. The salesman was nice enough to let me know that they would charge $9 a gallon if you don't put gas in. Note: the reason for the 4 stars is everything went perfect that day at this place. We rented a car for our spring break trip. The customer service was horrible. They asked for my social in order to rent the car. Which I thought was odd since I've rented from other companies and I've never been asked for that information, especially when using a credit card. They called me the day of pick up to let me know I needed to be there before my scheduled time of pick up because they close early at 12. This review has been couple weeks in the making I definitely 100% disagree with the negative reviews for this location Alex the manager and Josie were so patient so kind so efficient so knowledgeable on their job they made all my difficult requests come true they were very positive and reassuring that things are going to get done properly and they were right everything got done they were very thorough and I cannot complain not one bit I recently had a bad incident with another location and so I was a little hesitant maybe thinking that Avis was just all together bad but this location Covina has proven that wrong this location has superseded my expectations and I cannot think Alex enough for all of his hard work and patience for putting up with me and my difficult requests and demands LOL if I can get them 10 Stars I would and I would. And recommend them to my friend's family everybody. It's very bad here. We booked a car on the website. And the payment is successful. Then we went over and a lady greeted us. We show the Oder number. Then a 50-year-old man came out and asked us to re-order. Since my friend's email cannot be logged in, we cannot log in. So I had to cancel the rental car. When we left, the middle-aged Mexican man told us that our expenses would not be deducted. But the cost is still incurred. On the third day we went back to the store. I urgently needed a rental car, applied to rent one from here Avis Covina), got it confirmed, but when arrived, despite having quite a large number of cars in inventory, they denied saying they don't have any, and that something was wrong with their system allowing people to make the booking. I immediately changed the schedule and booked another one for the same day in La Habra, got a confirmation, started driving for 22 miles, but, before I arrive, to reconfirm, called them, but they gave me the same reply. By the way, this booking was done through a third party that they are affiliated with them and offer rentals at lower prices. When I asked them if booking directly with them would enable me getting one the same day? They said yes, but the price would be almost double. To me it looked like a scam, dragging customers there through other programs, and when they are there, they deny that service, and offer one of their own. This was my first experience with Avis. I feel bad for the other reviewers who had such a bad experience. I had a great experience!! Alex was super helpful and friendly. And all the staff did a great job in making my rental for a camping trip/trail race a breeze. I got upgraded to a much bigger car for a really reasonable price and they were very considerate in making sure I was happy with the rental. Only issue I had was the USB jack in the car was bad so it was impossible to charge our phones through it, but Avis gave us a $20 credit towards our next purchase. So that was awesome. Employees are very condescending. They are very rude and the service is horrible. I would highly recommend using a different company and paying a little more unless you want to get screwed. I talked to three different people and each person gave me a different response. Shouldn't everybody be on the same page. The young lady at the counter was very nice, but I could not get the car that I had reserved and prepaid because an equifax message came up on her screen that said not to rent to me. No reason. I have very good credit. I have do not credit cards. I was trying to use a debit card to rent and apparently that is the problem. I have rented many cars with it before without any problems. this is the first time. Now I will figure out what to do for my early morning trip after all the rental places are closed. Here is the official Avis debit card policy (just don't try to use one at Avis): This location does accept bank debit cards with the MasterCard or Visa logo at the time of rental if you are at least 25 years of age. Booked a Budget Rental Truck for moving, as I got a 20% off coupon in the mail after changing my address with usps. Reserved a 16' truck online 2 weeks before. Good price, was happy. 4 minutes before my schedule pick up, I was called to ask if I was renting a truck from them, I said yes, have my confirmation, then they said they don't have any trucks for me. They said that they will be getting 26' truck that day, and I said I would take it, but then they said they have it reserved for someone else. Soooo, thanks for giving a slimmer of false hope. Then they said I could call their location a few cities away to see if they had anything and that was all they could do for me. I don't see a point in having a reservation confirmed for this and to pull this 4 minute warning on an already stressful day of moving for anyone is horrible. I've rented cars out of this location over several months. These are long term rentals (weeks at a time). I like the idea of a car rental for work to decrease wear & tear on my personal vehicle. Plus, I like being about to change cars and try out different vehicles as a prelude to a purchase or just for "fun". Alex and Hugo have always been great with their customer service. Even during busy times, they're quick to say "hello". I've not had any major issues with reservations, or finding the car that suits my needs. There have been many times I've forgotten to reserve a car, but they always find time to accommodate. As a rewards member, I get the upgrades my points allow. When I've had issues, they go out of their way to help remedy the situation. The cars are clean and in good working condition. I've made this my exclusive local rental car place! read more

They close before 6:00p.m. and charge you double when you return the car the next day. Don't rent from here unless you have to. Being charged double the rate is like to be robbed...faculty there don't really care about customer and it seems like they use "you agreed to this when you signed the contract" to excuse everything. The guy at the desk was rude when I told him it's a poor policy to make their computer problem my issue.
