No cars. Claimed to have texted me the morning of. But lied I didn't receive anything.

I made a reservation about 15 days or so prior to my scheduled rental. When I arrived on time for my rental, I was informed that they do not have ANY vehicles to rent out. I drove 25 minutes to get to them...no courtesy call prior or anything so that I didn't waste my time or gas to get to them. I really don't know how they can fix this experience or what can be done to earn my business again. No follow up call from management or anyone to apologize for my poor experience and offer to make this right. Avoid this location and BEWARE fellow consumer. read more

This will be my last time renting from Avis. I received a text at the time of my pickup stating that there were no cars available which was very unprofessional when I had a reservation. I cancelled my reservation because I really needed a 7 seater for the weekend and was told by customer service that I had to wait 3-10 business days for my refund when it wasn't even my fault. I ended up having to go back to rent the 5 seater because I was unable to find another rental nearby. I had to pay more money than my initial reservation of a 7 seater which was very upsetting. I originally made a reservation through orbitz due to the airport being sold out, I made an attempt to call them, a girl answered the phone then put me on hold. As I was on hold the phone was disconnected, as I called back I must've been transferred to their main call center and I was informed that the car was available. Took a Lyft to this location only to be informed that my 10:30 reservation would have to be pushed back because they didn't have any one ways available. This is extremely frustrating because had she answered the phone in the beginning when I called back I could've saved time and money. Not to mention she's on her cell phone talking about how she's been slaving since 9:00am and that was at 10:14. It started out good with customer service. But the car they rented had bald tires, dirty, dents and scratches all over the vehicle. I asked for another vehicle, but they didn't have one. Key fob battery was low by the time I got home. Requested another vehicle , they told me I had to drive 54 miles to get one. I tried everything possible before I left for my chemo appointments in Florida. But I get to Florida and the same tires I complained about went flat on me. of course phoned roadside service they could not bring me a car, but could tow it away. Oh, I requested full insurance coverage for the vehicle and I only received the basic. Why rent a vehicle and not include roadside service. So, I had to catch an uber after my chemo treatments and get another vehicle. DO NOT RENT FROM AVIS. I recently rented a car at the Lawrenceville, Georgia location and experienced one issue after another. The car's oil change light was on and I was told to ignore this although I was traveling to New York from Georgia. Then the tire lights were on; I was directed to go to Mavis to add air to the tires. I've never had to maintain a rental car before, but I did it. While at the Goodyear shop (to add air to the tires) the mechanic told me all 4 tires were shot and needed to be replaced. I told him it was a rental and that I was driving to NY in the morning. He responded, "Not it that car you're not. That car will not make it to NY on those tires". Well that started a whole process of driving an hour away to exchange the car, waiting for a manager and explaining the situation to 3 different Avis employees. At the time of writing this review I'm still awaiting some type of compensation for the negligence, unprofessionalism and disregard of people's lives I've endured. Picking up a vehicle at this very moment and the entire experience has been awful. First car I was given had ashes and cigarette residue indicating it hadn't even been wiped down. I then switch cars only to learn a few moments later, the back tire has gone completely flat. But here's the thing, stuff happens, it's how the business responds to ensure you return as a customer is what counts if you want to stay in business. I'm then I can either choose a minivan or a forerunner. I asked about two perfectly clean vehicles that at the very least would have ensured I left happy and I'm told I would need to pay more to rent those. They weren't premium cars just the best two they had to offer. If you business owner can't offer a comparable option because your cleaning and maintenance crew needs to be fully replaced, don't make that your customers problem. In the end, no one may rent the wrangler over the next two days (the duration of my current rental), but what is certain is you've lost a "new" customer and you will never get my business again. It's easy to gamble until it's not. My business would have been repeat business as I'm temporarily residing in Lawrenceville for next 4 months from NYC. I also was recommended by my uncle and aunt who's had dealings with the owner. I also made a conscious decision to support a black business owner and I left disappointed. Black businesses collectively struggle because they underestimate the power of choice. You have nothing to compete with but great customer service, all businesses are hurting in some capacity however since prices didn't change to correlate to sub-par services, I am not empathetic. If I could give this location less than one star I would but unfortunately that's not an option. We booked a car for rental thanksgiving weekend and paid in advance. We got there about 20 minutes before our pick up time and they told us they had no cars available and they weren't sure when they were gonna get more! I was shocked. How could you not have any cars for people that have already paid for one. The girl at the counter seemed unwilling to help or sympathetic to the situation. She simply said there would be a delivery of cars at some point but she didn't know when and made no attempt to contact anyone that may have that information. She took our phone number and said she would call us when one was available. That's super inconvenient because we came from far to that location because cars on a holiday weekend were limited. When we called customer service they told us they had another location with more cars but they it was an upgrade and we had to pay an additional$1000! What ??? How can you penalize the customer for something YOU did wrong. The craziest thing I ever heard of. I visited a family member in lawrenceville, I'm from out of state visiting. The Duluth location showed as the closest to her and was most convenient if needed to take a uber, lyft, or public transportation. When I arrived I explained my reservation, right away, they indicated they couldn't find it, so they uppriced me to that days rate as a new quote. My Avis app shows my reservation with pricing ofcourse. Then the worker (female) and manager (male) both indicated unable to find reservation, ( sorry to be you was implied) as they were both very unprofessional (Rude) in person. Ironically over the phone prior to taking a Uber? the female rep confirmed my reservation.. long story shorter, I also had originally (made a reservation for Avis Lawrenceville at the same rate previously, due to the city name, and its my first visit. Lucky for me i didnt cacel it! As the Lawrenceville Avis was much more Professional. by the way I did contact Avis Customer service while this was in progress, this was a week before Christmas 2021. Renter Beware at Avis Duluth! So I ended up renting at Lawrenceville and made a review with them after I returned the vehicle. Review for Lawrenceville: The Team at Lawrenceville is so Awesome! I had contact with both shift Team Members ( am & pm) and my experience was identical. We are faithful Avis renters. We rented a Toyota Sienna on Wednesday February 16, When we went out to check the car we noticed the maintenance required message popped up. So I went back in and spoke with the young lady at the counter. She promised the van had been serviced. Once we got on the highway the tire light came on so we had to fill the tires. Then the washer fluid went out, mind you we were in snow and ice. So we had to get washer fluid to fill the jug. Then on the way home from our trip the oil change light came on and it smelled like something burning. Then the check engine light came on, then the maintenance light came on again. When we went to turn the car in on Monday February 21st the manager immediately apologized for the inconvenience and gave us a huge discount. Way to go Avis! read more

Making the reservation In itself was a hassle. Starting out with renting out the vehicle, I wasn't given the opportunity to pay for it so I had to select the pay later option. I proceeded to make my reservation 2 days prior to picking up, mind you i never received a reservation number, just a text, only for them to tell me my reservation was cancelled. When asked why, I was told it was because they ran out of the vehicle. What's the reason of making a reservation only to be told that the car you reserve is no longer available? I am so disappointed with this rental. I travel for work so rent cars very often. I have rented Avis at the airport a few times and thought it was a great service... one of the better rental car companies. My entire opinion has just shifted. I picked up a car Thursday... I thought it was stranger that the rep inside had me go do the walk around the car alone but I did it. The paper looked like a mural when I was done marking it up with dents and dings. I needed the car so it was whatever. I had to drive from ATL to CLT and it drove terribly. The tires were so bald. I was a nervous wreck driving on the interstate in it. Fast forward to returning it back today (Saturday this morning), there was a rep on the phone talking with someone who's rental had broken down. He was saying that he knew that the car wasn't safe to drive and he would never expect this lemon to be given out to a customer to drive. I'm waiting in line... one person behind me... the rep asks me go walk back to the car to get the mileage.... Okay??... I do it... come back in and get my receipt. I proceed to go get in my personal car and sitting there for a second only to look up and see that the man who had been in line behind me had been given the keys to the rental car that I had JUST turned in! No one had looked inside, checked condition, cleaned... sanitized?!?! NOTHING! Just handed the keys off.... Shame on Avis. All in all, the people I came in contact with seemed on the lazy side and it's pretty scary to me that they just offload questionable conditioned cars onto unsuspecting patrons. read more

Most unprofessional rudest customer service I've ever experienced. Reserved my car a week in advance from this location. Arrived to pick up my rental 30 minutes early to be told they didn't have my car and that all they had was a 12 passenger van for me. The manager did nothing to really try and accommodate the mistake and inconvenience made to me. I ended up having to take possession of the van and driving in rush hour traffic to the airport to pick up the rental I was promised by my reservation. I lost almost a full day of my trip due to their negligence and unprofessionalism. I then called Avis customer service upon getting my vehicle and was promised a $50 credit upon return which of course the manager did not honor. He continued to blame Avis corporate for the problem stating this is how Avis works. Do not rent from this location!! DON'T DO IT!!!!! This location lists cars that they don't actually have and give you what they want you to have. They keep asking us how many people we have traveling. What difference does it make? If I pay for a party bus for two people, that's my business! I'm standing in their office as I write waiting on an SUV to head to vacation. They had one in their parking lot when we arrived but they handed it over to someone else and offered us a minivan. We don't want a minivan, we rented and PREPAID for an SUV. Now they tell us that they MIGHT have something coming in for 1 45pm. It is now 10 42. Did I mention we're supposed to be heading on vacation? Update: so they "found" a Pathfinder on the side of the building. How do you lose a Pathfinder? Obviously, this is our last visit to Avis. I'm not a masochist. UPDATE: So it just keeps getting better. The Pathfinder was so disgusting that we had to turn it down. This leads me to believe that it wasn't "lost" but needed major work and they wouldn't have offered this to most clients. I guess we're special. The seats are so stained with white gunk that they couldn't get it out. They told us they were going to refresh it and make it right. 15 minutes later, it's pretty much the same condition, just vacuumed and sprayed some water on the outside. So now we have to head home to come back for this 1 45 car and hope for the best. Will update further. read more

If I could give them negative stars I would . The two ladies that are working the front desk are clueless. The first car they offered would not unlock. The second car smelled of smoke and weed. They stated they did not have another car available to rent but I could go to another Avis. I took the first car because they got it unlocked and it also smelled but not as bad as the other one. Both cars had bumpers that were slightly pulled down on the front. Everytime someone new got into the car (son , sister and Mom) they commented on the horrible smell! They closed at 2 PM on Sunday but did not reveal this until I asked and never told me they do not have a drop box. This is a tactic to add an charge to you for an additional day of rental. The service is terrible , the cars are dirty and they do not answer the phone. They want you to expect the cars, fill the sheet and record the gas a mileage yourself. I had to honk the horn to find my car Because did not even tell me where it was located. It took me over an hour to leave with my rental. I dont know what yokel gave a 5 star review to this place but i assume they are fake. This place wont answer the phone if you cal withing half an hour of them closing. I had a blowout and couldnt make it back to the airport on it. They said they could replace the tire if i got there by 3 pm. (Turns out that was a lie) i told them i would be coming and that i would call back to confirm. They ignored over 20 calls i gave them and eventually the national service that they transfered me to hung up on me 3 times befoee i finally called their roadside assistance who informed me that there was nothing they could do for me until the spare blew up. (Which would then cause me to miss my flight). Ended up having AAA tow the car back to the airport so we didnt miss the flight. Avis is probably the worst rental agency ive ever sealt with in my travels and in my opinion. The employees of this location need a strong reprimand, if not to be fired completely. read more
