I wish that I could leave negative stars. This place did NOTHING right and dropped the ball on EVERYTHING. I reserved a vehicle two months in advance. I arrive to pick it up...."we don't have a vehicle for you." I reserved a box truck to move furniture to my daughter in another state and had a hotel reserved at the half way mark. Plans could not be changed. Two box trucks were sitting in their lot; one "needs brakes" and the other "needs a battery". There is a mechanic and a battery place in the same shopping center! No phone call was made prior to let me know and no apologies given either. This company is really great at training staff on the finer points of providing terrible customer service (customer no service). Prepaid for a rental 3 weeks in advance. Pickup was for Thanksgiving eve @ 2pm. I arrive at 140pm for pickup. Store was closed with sign that said closed for Thanksgiving Eve at 12noon. I'm saddened that no one chose to call, email or text me to let me know. It was virtually impossible to find a rental elsewhere on short notice and really upsetting that because of their closing I had to pay twice e as much elsewhere. You're reading the reviews for a reason. Believe them. Don't convince yourself that the reviews aren't valid. I normally rent from more dependable places, but gave this place a shot for some reason that I now regret. They have a tendency to make reservations even when they don't have any inventory available. Just because you make a reservation, don't be surprised to show up when you need the car and be told they don't have anything (not even an upgraded vehicle) available. In short, your reservation is about as valuable as mud. Then, of course it's too late to rent from somewhere else at that point because the prices are high for same day rentals. First allow me to say a number of the 1 star reviews appear to be issues with the 800 number. I rent from this location a number of times , staff no matter who is always great , one time I got a car with an issue and it was handled asap relaxed with a similiar vechile no questions asked. I would give a 0 if I could! TERRIBLE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND JUNK CARS! THE FEMALE AT THE FRONT DESK IS RUDE AND LIED TO ME! I spent over 2 hrs at this location changing cars due to missing hubcaps, bad tires, inside and outside damages. When I dropped of the rental the same female employee from the previous day during checkout told me everything was fine and there were no additional charges. The next day I received an email with a $40.88 charge for gas. The car wasn't full when I picked it up. The return fuel was same as when I picked up the rental. When I called this location to asked about the gas charge, the same female employee that told me less than 24 hrs ago that everything was fine and no additional charges, had a different attitude. She told me that the bill was final and hung up on me. She didn't answer the phone when I called back. This is a TERRIBLE LOOK for HERTZ! I had prepaid and reserved a Pathfinder or similar about 2 weeks in advance of pick up. My pickup time was 12 noon at the Lawrenceville, GA location and I got there at around a little bit after 11am and had to wait about 1 hr because the counter agent said that they are getting the car ready. When they did bring the car out to be delivered to me it was ridiculously dirty on the outside and the under carriage had thick mud caked on that was visible on approaching the car. Because of the dirty condition of the car I requested for it to be cleaned and they took the car to the back and I don't know what they did but the car looked worst and the manager said he can give me $10 off the price which I denied because it was an insult to me. The car had a 1/2 tank of gas and I requested a full tank because of the excessive delays and they said no. I told them that I am eligible for my company's discount and they said that since I prepaid that I could get the discount. A few hrs later while driving on the highway after applying the brakes the car would violently vibrate and I didn't feel comfortable driving the car in that condition out of town for a week so we had to drive an hr away to ATL Airport to the Hertz location to exchange the car because since it was a Saturday all the satellite locations were closed. When we got to the airport, we were told that it would be a while before we can get a vehicle but after an hr we were able to get another vehicle. The service at the Hertz Lawrenceville location was horrible and they need to provide customers with better service. Before I returned my vehicle I had it washed and vacuumed and returned with a full tank of gas and as I waited for me ride home the counter agent inspected the vehicle and within 5 mins someone else rented it and I brought it to the counter agent attention that they didn't have to clean nor gas up the vehicle and yet still you couldn't even give me any discount but the customer who got my vehicle received a vehicle in ready condition so a quicker turn around for Hertz. I hope Hertz will receive this review and provide better service and invest in a car wash facility and have their cars maintained. RT read more

Reserved my full size rental car 2 weeks in advance. Arrived at the Lawrenceville location to pick it up with a smile on my face, despite all the negative reviews. The young Latino lady at the front desk told me that they had no full size rental cars available but I could rent an SUV for $20 more a day. Her excuse was that they didn't anticipate renting so many full size cars and basically couldn't fulfill their reservations. I told her that was Hertz's issue /problem and they should provide their available rental vehicle at the same price rather than upcharge$20 a day. She took no responsibility on hertz's part and told me "sorry, it's $20 more a day". Reserved a vehicle Feb. 28th for a trip on April 2nd 8am. I was called on April 2nd 7:21am and told that they didn't have any vehicles available. With that being a Sunday and all other locations were closed I was stuck without a rental. Did they not know at the end of the day the day before that they didn't have the vehicles to fulfill reservations? Someone else was also sitting and waiting on someone to hopefully return a vehicle so that they would have a rental. We were also told that the vehicles there had been sold so they couldn't be rented out. How do you sell a vehicle knowing that you have rentals to fulfill and if a vehicle is sold, shouldn't it be replaced with another rental option for that location? Poor business!! I asked if they could check airport inventory so that my rental could be fulfilled at the price that I reserved it for and they said that they were not affiliated with the airport hertz. They also made the comment that I didn't want to rent from the airport Hertz because customers have bad experiences. The service here was so bad that we actually thought we were on a hidden camera show-- we could've swore we were being punked. Come... We wait for one to be returned, but the franchise owner, Helen says, "I'm locking up and I can't wait because I have to pick up my daughter from church (the franchise owner!!). She dismisses us by giving us directions to a nearby alternate Hertz store where she says they will get us a car. The location she sent us to- 20 minutes away- was closed with no Sunday hours listed. She sent us to a closed alternate location on purpose ((gasp)). This franchise owner has advanced stage of not giving a s**t. Wow. Just wow. HERTZ are they the home of bait and switch?.. We will find out. I had a rental car reserved and verified (HA HA) at the local HERTZ ofc. When I arrived I was told by the manager that the vehicle promised was never available from this location and that they had NEVER had a MAXIMA on that lot in the history of that lot. The manager told me that he did not know who VANESSA was (I said I had spoke to VANESSA to confirm reservation). He switched me to a filthy vehicle. I returned the next day, upon walking in I saw a young lady, and I said HI VANESSA to which she replied HI (VANESSA DOES EXIST) I called the manger on his to lies and he actually said "SO". I asked why the vehicle was so filthy and he stated he was to busy to wash cars. When I returned the car the manager inspected it and handed the keys to a lot person and said 'I NEED THIS CAR DETAILED IT IS FILTHY' I had driven it 9 miles to my house and back. I wrote HERTZ in big letters on the dirt on the car. I explained that BAIT AND SWITCH was illegal and the managers reply was "I DON'T CARE". I asked why he lied and he stated "SO WHAT" I PROMISED to escalate this thru the state fraud prevention and again he replied "good". Life saver! Thanks for picking up the ball that Enterprise dropped. Enterprise across the street left me hanging. I had reserved a minivan three weeks prior through Costco Travel to move my daughter to college. Upon arrival I was told they had no cars. I was told I could wait for a comparable SUV to return but was not even offered an apology and left waiting 20 minutes with no update. I called Hertz and was greeted promptly and told there were a couple of cargo vans available. I was in and out and on my way in less time that I waited at Enterprise and for less!! read more

An hour before picking up my reservation -- Hertz from Lawrenceville, called me to inform that my reservation is not possible as there are no more 7 passenger SUVs. Told me to call 1-800 number to find something else in other Hertz locations. However, persuaded them to help as this is too late and too close to cancel. They did find me a mini van, that was fine with me, however, the condition of the van was something to believe in. It was vacuumed but it was dirty and smelly like someone had livestock in it, or kids peed on the floor of the van. I couldn't believe that Hertz would actually release a car to customer in such a shape. I came home and started washing it inside with Clorox wipes. Too bad I did not take pictures before and after -- that van was nasty. The nasty smell was there the whole trip. But that was not all, I could wipe the chairs and clean the nasty stains -- what I could not do is change the tires on the van. I wish I could give them 0 stars: I had a reservation for a vehicle on June 16th at the Lawrenceville - Riverside Parkway HLE location in Georgia, US that I made on June 7th (so plenty of notice was given in advance) and when I went to pick up my vehicle at the location they advised me that they were aware of my reservation, but there were no vehicles available. If I make a reservation for a vehicle, I fully expect that the vehicle will be there. The manager should know how many vehicles are available for rental and should not exceed renting that amount of vehicles. I understand that things may happen, but it seemed that the on-site manager had been aware of this situation from the time that the store opened. At least have the courteousy to call me instead of waiting until I arrive at the store to notify me. -- STRIKE ONE Nothing was done to try to help me find another vehicle at a nearby location, no ETA was given as to when another vehicle may be available for pickup at this specific location. As a Gold Member, heck as a paying customer, I expect that you will do anything you can to try to help me out and be as transparent as possible. -- STRIKE TWO I reached out to your customer service folks (via Facebook since it was obvious that the on-site management wasn't going to do anything. You advised that you would be in contact with the location and they should be reaching out to me to attempt to resolve the situation. I made contact with you at approximately 9 AM and no one from the location even reached out to me until 12:30 PM when I was advised that they now had a vehicle available. I responded by letting them know that I just went ahead and took my own vehicle and was nearly at my destination since I was a time crunch. I was hung up on. -- STRIKE THREE I just wanted to follow up with on this situation, I know it's been a lengthy period of time - two weeks, but I've had a busy schedule as of late. This I'd probably the worst experience I've had with renting a vehicle, the car being dirty and the windshield with a long crack on the passenger side I'd say it's pretty evident that they don't care for their cars. The oil change sticker was well passed due on mileage for another oil change and once I returned the car I accidentally left a bright green harness, I called to find out that they didn't have it or my portable speaker I left in the side pocket of the vehicle. To me that means that suggests that someone took the items or they rented the vehicle with that stuff still in the car. The associate on the phone couldn't be more, less concerned. If it wasn't for the insurance company I would have walked out the day I stepped in side. I will never rent from this or any other hertz location if they allow this behavior. read more

If I could give "0" stars I definitely would have. I go to put up the rental at 7:30am for our family vacation, and there are no available vehicles. Someone should have called me the day before to let me know I wouldn't have a rental. We were scheduled to leave that exact morning. I was given the only options of calling around Atlanta or wait and see if a rental came in later that day. I tried calling around and found out that this is what Hertz does, over-book EVERY location. I called customer service just to issue a refund, so I would t be charged any fees. I was assured it was taken care of that day. We go on a five day trip, come back still no refund. I called immediately and spoke with an agent that said she didn't see any notes and nothing was done. She put me on hold and stated she had taken care of it and I should see the refund on a few days. Five days later and still no refund. I call AGAIN and am told nothing was done. I am AGAIN reassured for the third time that it is taken care of at that moment. Very poor experience. I prepaid for a rental for a week. The reservation said pick up at 12:00 and I arrived at 1:30. They told me that they did not have my reservation and had given the car away. Since I was not there at noon, that gave it away to someone else. I said: "I prepaid for the vehicle, shouldn't it be mine from noon forward?" She said they only hold the car for an hour. I rented a car on July 15 and returned it on the July 24th at the Riverside Pkwy location at approximately 10am to a young man behind the counter. Today, I noticed that I was still being charged on my Credit Card (turns out it was not but I was mischarged). I called customer service and explained the situation. They then transferred me to the Riverside Pkwy return location where I once again explained the situation. He said he needed a contract number to help me. I did not have a contract number and he said he could not help without a contract number. Since I had a reservation number in my email I asked if that would work. Initially he said no. At this point, he says he has no record of me returning the car. What?? Now I'm worried. I gave him the car description and where it was parked to which he said, " I think we already rented that car." What? you just said you had no record of me returning it. Now we are getting somewhere I'm thinking, but we still have the issue of him not having a record of me returning it. He then rudely said to call back at 4PM to speak to a manager. Huh, I'm thinking I'm actually the customer here. I told him that I would like to have him continue working and to call me when it was resolved. I asked him if he was going to continue working on the issue to which he said "yes". So I asked him, "how will I know it has been resolved". He smuggly said, " I guess you will know when your credit card stops being charged." At this point, I told him that I noticed the locations lousy online reviews and that I expected more. He then said, " you just threatened my location sir, what is your number". I said, "What?" and he hung up on me. Not getting anywhere I called the customer service number again where I would spend another 30 min explaining the issue again. That person was very kind and professional and had no problem pulling up my contract and resolving the issue. Apparently, the contract had been closed on the 24th. I still do not understand what the issue was with the young man at the Riverside location. He was rude, lacked empathy, and folks like that impact your brand image. First of all, those are not real pictures of the Lawrenceville hertz. They deceive you in every way possible. The real one is so freakin scary that it'll make you keep on driving right passed it. The horrible woman that runs the front even said over 50% of their reservations never show up. Yeah, it's because the sh#t hole you run is scaring everyone off. They rented me a vehicle that, unbeknownst to me had an "All Points Bulletin" on it because of some criminal activity done in the car by the previous renter. I found all of this out once I was pulled over by 2 Gwinnett County Police Officers. Their customer service gave me the run around for almost a full 8 hours. It wasn't solved until I went to personally pay the Atlanta airport location's manager (Blake) a visit. He had the nerve to try and argue with me but by the time I was finished with him, I had a nice rental at no expense to me, plus a voucher for a week at no cost for future rental.
