Food is always pretty good here. I try my best to order something new each time. The service is always great. The staff is super attentive and helpful if needed. The ambiance is super chill and great for one on one or small groups. Happy hour is worth it because instead of $40 for a pitcher you only pay $28 which can give you anywhere between 5-6 decent drinks.
Pretty good non-traditional taco spot. Menu is pretty extensive and there are a lot of unique taco options. The tacos are also very large. My favorites are probably the carny (pork) and el flaco (chicken). Not the best tacos ever but there aren't a ton of taco options in Bayside so this is a solid choice. The apps are also pretty good, especially the guac. Cocktails options are what you'd expect (margs, mojitos, etc.) They also have bowls, salads, and quesadillas but haven't tried them yet. From dining in and looking around, the portions look substantial. Ambience is lively/colorful and service is consistently attentive.
I went to this location after the movie theater that is around the corner, it had a very welcoming atmosphere and upbeat vibe. The Three Amigos($15)- These was nachos that had a fire roasted salsa, queso and guacamole as dips. It had a good amount of sauce and nachos which the queso was my favorite out of the 3. Chipotle Chicken Bowl($14)- Chicken with onions, corn salsa, avocado and poblano crema. The overall flavor were pretty good but the rice was undercooked and hard so it was inedible which was upsetting. Overall I would give it another shot and try something else since it does have a very nice atmosphere. Parking could be a little tough since it shares a small parking lot with other stores. The waitress brought the drinks and food out pretty efficiently, even during the dinner rush. The bowls and tacos were made with fresh and tasty ingredients. We had steak, shrimp and tuna bowls and each bowl was as tasty as the other. The restaurant has a happy, friendly vibe. They had plants and festive decor. You can sit inside or out on the patio. This is a nice place for a casual meal with friends! Worth another visit!
Been here a few times and loved the steak tacos and decided to order a catering box. The steak was great but the proportion wasn't balanced enough - there wasn't enough corn salsa, guacamole and taco shells. We ended up more than half of the steak left over. Would be great if the proportion could be revisited so it's more balanced!
I've been a HUGE fan of the location on Long Island. Haven't had in a while and now I live in the area so tried this place. Have mixed feelings. Ordered chipotle chicken bowl. It's okay I think I'm not a fan of the sweet flavor. It was too sweet for my taste. The chips were really stale but also need to add more chips especially if your charging $7 the ratio chips to queso needs to be right. It was overall okay, next time I'll stick to tacos. Remember those I liked.
I have been meaning to try AVO TACO since the Yelpies and finally made my way over, and it did not disappoint! Started with classic chips and guac. Even without the special toppings that they do, the guac was still flavorful and tasted fresh. Coco Loco (Coconut Shrimp Taco): This was good! I love anything with sweet chili sauce so I enjoyed this. I do wish there was just one more shrimp, but that's okay. The Long Liner (Ahi Tuna Taco): My favorite! The fish tasted fresh and the mango salsa went very well with it. Large pieces of fish and very worth it. FARE/FAIR warning that these tacos are MESSYYY. Be prepared to have sauces dripping from your hands. Or use a fork and knife for your tacos LOL. The churro sundae was a great way to end dinner. It was very very sweet though, but that was expected. The soft serve melted very fast with the churros being so warm, so you have to eat this fast if you don't want to be drinking ice cream soup basically. I imagine this space to be very lively in the summer when they open up the doors and have fresh air flowing through the place.
Was introduced to Avo Taco from a Yelp Elite event. Wanted to come back for their Tuesday Taco Special and their Happy Hour. The Tacos were delicious. Ordered the Calypso Steak, Floridian, Carny and friend ordered the Bandito, the Cowboy and Floridian. Service was off. The waitress took us to where my friend wanted to sit in the back with the booths. She came to take the order, staff who brought the drinks asked if we needed anything else as well as other staff who brought out the food asked if we needed anything else. The next time I saw waitress, which she was in the front and we had to flag her down twice. I wanted another Virgin Pina Colada and box for the food. We were not finished nor ready to leave. She came back with the check and box for food. Was she overwhelmed? She was the only waitress when we came in. Then there was also an error on the check. We had given waitress a coupon before placing order and informed her we using it. She never took out the difference. So she had to come back with another check. Restaurant and ambiance is warm and inviting. Only one bathroom was working so be prepared to wait. Then hour later other bathroom is working too. Check sign on the door.
This restaurant is a bit disorganized. We had about 3 different servers rotating to serve us. The first server didn't inform us that someone will take our order when we were given the menus. We assumed that the order takes place online because they had qr codes on all the tables and it took them awhile to get back to us. My boyfriend even tipped them before buying the food and drinks online which was odd. We informed the second server that we purchased the food online. When the food and the drinks came out different servers brought it to us. I had to inform them that they forgot my coke. Instead of checking the online order, she brought me a fountain coke when I ordered the mexican coca cola. We let it go. Now for the food review. I would say it is a bit on the saltier side, but my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the yuca fries and the truffle steak quesadilla. I also liked the street corn. Also, ask for the hot sauce because it is so good. It hits the spot!
DLDR: I would order few of the Coco Loco Tacos, Chimichurri Steak Tacos, Hawaiian Chicken Quesadilla, and end it with Tres Leche. Came here for lunch with my gf and her parents on a late Sunday morning. There's no parking in front of the restaurant, as it's a narrow one way street, but there's a massive parking lot behind the plaza and limited parking to the left of the plaza. They happened to have happy hour specials where select appetizers and drinks were half off. Don't remember how often they planned on having this deal. Service is pretty decent for the most part. At times, you do need to go flag someone down if you need something. Otherwise, the staff members, from our assigned waiter, the bartender, and manager, were all very friendly and gave good recommendations. For drinks, we ordered the Passion Fruit Pina Colada ($12) and the Mango Mojito ($12). Both drinks were good, but liked the Mango Mojito better. The rum in the Pina Colada stood out from the rest of the ingredients, making it less enjoyable. For appetizers, we tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup ($5). I believe this is new to the menu and for starters, this was pretty good. For entrees, we ordered a bunch of stuff to try a variety of items: Quesa Birria ($17) - This has been super trendy over the past few years and I haven't been a fan of the places I've tried them. This was recommended by the staff as the beef has been slow cooked for three hours. At this point, I think it's just me where I'm not a fan of the Birria craze due to the amount of cheese and the messiness of dipping it in a cup of oil. Hawaiian Chicken Quesadilla ($14) - I've had chicken quesadilla all my life and this is the first time I'm having it with pineapple. A simple additional topping and it's a game changer. Coco Loco ($6) - This was my absolute favorite taco I had here. The breaded shrimp with sweet chili made this taste phenomenal along with the cole slaw and sprinkled coconut flakes or enhanced taste. The Carny ($5.50) - This is a braised pork shoulder topped with pickled cabbage, poblano creama and cotija cheese. I have to say this was okay, but not my favorite. Chimichurri Steak ($6.50) - This consisted of flank steak marinated in pineapple soy topped with chimichurri sauce, crispy onions, and scallion. The steak was well made and flavored. I did enjoyed the added flavoring of the chimichurri and the crispy onion topping. We ended our meal with the Tres Leche ($6), which is made fresh in house. One of the best desserts I've had in a while. Super fluffy and delicate fresh out of their oven. Wouldn't have wanted this any other way.
Avo Taco is located at the upper level of The Bay Terrace Shopping Center. It was less than a 15-minute walk from my house. The ambiance was perfect for brunch, lunch, and dinner dates. The cashier greeted me when I arrived. Also, I informed her about my food allergies. I ordered a take-out of 3 tacos as part of their Taco Tuesday promo with a side of yuca fries. I entered my email address to sign up for their rewards. Food Calypso Steak (no guacamole): The sour cream and corn salsa topped on the steak taco was flavorful. This was my favorite. One word: Scrumptious Floridian (no guacamole & cilantro): The crisp slaw and pico de gallo topped on the fish taco was flavorful. Yuca Fries (no cilantro): The rasta crema, cotija cheese, and Tajin topped on the yuca fries were crispy and yummy. Bookmark this spot to try!
My go to spot for taco Tuesday! They have a great taco Tuesday deal 3 tacos for $13 all day. I also love getting here before 6pm to catch the happy hour. The cocktails are strong and only $6 as well as a full sized guac and chips for less than $5. The vibe is lively, especially on Friday night, with big crowds and loud music. I love that you can sit down and order without waiting for a server. They have a QR code you can scan to order and pay. It's super efficient but I do feel like the service is lacking because of it. I wouldn't mind too much if we weren't expected to tip but one really comes around to refill water or check if you need anything so it feels more like counter service. As for the food, they have tons of options, almost overwhelming. Not every taco on their menu is a hit so it's all about trial and error. My favorites are the chimichurri, coco loco and the carny. Also the tres leches cake was a knockout! It was sweet, salty, and buttery. Very indulgent but a great end to our meal.

I want to like this place more since the ambience/vibe is really chill, the location is really close, but factoring in the price and flavors, I just can't. If you're dining in, you can order using the QR code which is pretty convenient. Otherwise, you can do it the traditional way with your server. Food wise, we got the carnitas nachos, yucca fries and the chipotle chicken bowl. The nachos - definitely something you can't order for take-out or delivery since the chips themselves aren't that thick and probably wouldn't survive longer than 15 mins due to the queso, pico de gallo and sour cream. Taste wise, probably the best thing out of the three. The yucca fires we really sauced with the crema and had a bit too much of the tajin. The bowl, it was okay. Nothing special, but again the flavor was too much. They totally overdid the dressing and the rice seemed a bit under cooked. As mentioned in my first sentence is the pricing. BLUF: Good fusion flavors, but better at Avo Taco in New Hyde Park. Avo Taco in New Hyde Park is one of our favorite places for fusion Mexican cuisine. While we're happy that Avo Taco has opened a location in Bayside, the Bayside location misses the mark on execution set by its sister location in Long Island. Food: Good (3.5 of 5 stars). Dishes We've Had: - Tuna Montezuma Bowl: $14. The ahi tuna should be served seared on the edges and rare / medium rare on the inside. The version we received was more cooked on the inside, and the sauce obscured the degree of doneness. - Shrimp Rémoulade Taco: $5. The taco shell was unheated; it should have been slightly toasted. - Calypso Steak Taco: $5.50. The version we received omitted the truffle sauce. The truffle sauce was the main reason we ordered this taco. The taco shell was unheated; it should have been slightly toasted. - El Jefé Taco: $5. Only OK. The mix of ingredients was flavorful, but the chicken was tough and chewy. The taco shell was unheated. - Chipotle Chicken Bowl: $13. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. - I do like the website ordering yourself. I can take my time to order. Paying on my phone was also convenient. Con: - music was little loud for my kids. - No silverware on table when seated. You have to ask for it. Only plastic is available. No water served if you don't request. - Food is so so. We didn't like 3 out of our 5 items. The worst was Virgin Pina Colada $5 I got for the kids. It's not a frozen drink. It's more like water down juice. Conclusion: no plan to return. Avo Taco was the first thing that came to mind and as luck would have it, we walked in on their weekly trivia night. Every Thursday from 7pm -9pm the entire restaurant participates in a trivia game as you eat. John the host of game night, knocked it out of the park. We came in tonight and the place wasn't busy, so we sat right away. We ended up ordering a calypso steak bowl, and some tacos, which were the shrimp taco, el jefe, piggy smalls and chimichurri steak, along with a couple of nonalcoholic drinks. The food overall was good. The service, on the other hand, sucked. The waiter forgot a drink that we had to remind him about, and he never came by for a refill. Also, as we were waiting for the bill, there was a table that sat down and was waiting and waiting and waiting, but the server went to another table that just sat down. If I was at the table that was waiting and waiting and waiting, I would've just got up and left. I'd go back, but if it was the same server I'd walk out. Also, why is it that the tip on the machine they hand you is conveniently set to 24%? That's really messed up because most people just hit the button and don't pay attention. I came here for a girls day which turned out to be the perfect spot for us to catch up and relax. Upon arrival, you grab your own seat and scan the QR code for menu and ordering. Very simple and convenient process. You go at your own pace and can browse comfortably. It's also easy to do a group order. We ordered the yuca fries, steak salad and several tacos to try, and a rum punch. Overall, the food was good but it can get pricey! Yuca fries - great crunch but doesn't give you the horrid greasy feel. I love the toppings and crema as it all blended together so well. Felt like a small portion but delicious. Steak salad - Really great flavor and everything was so fresh. The crema was okay but can be a bit overwhelming. The steak was cooked well and there was a lot of it! Floridian taco and el flaco taco - fish and chicken taco. Can't go wrong. Both had a good amount of filling and ingredients. Flavors were good. I enjoyed the food. Found this gem during lunch! Walking in there the staff was very friendly when greeting us. I ordered take out. Waited a few mins since I called it in and added another item when I was there. Overall service was quick. (It wasn't busy at that time.) The Shrimp tacos were very fresh and delicious! There was a lot of flavor in there due to the sauces they added. Leaves me wanting more! The Yuca Fries were beyond tasty! The sauce on the fries is the same as they would add on the Street Corn. Next on my list to try! The Queso was good but may try Quac next time. I LOVE Avo Taco and was waiting patiently and eagerly for them to finally open up this location. I went when they were still in their grand opening phase with limited menu, so they didn't have any steak tacos. Not sure if they have a full menu now. Went for the first time last weekend, I was pleasantly surprised! I thought it was going to be more like a chipotle, I didn't realize it was a sit down and be served restaurant. It's super cute, made me feel like I left New York for a couple of hours. Since it was our first time we wanted to try a little bit of everything. Since they just recently opened they didn't have their full menu yet which was fine with us. Cauliflower appetizer was really good, along with the pulled pork nachos. We each got two tacos each, all were very tasty. I especially liked the fried avocado. Drink were tasty but have a lot of ice, we both commented that we could have finished them in 3 sips. A casual dining spot with a small bar in the center. A great place to come with family and friends. When you walk in, you are greeted by the friendly and attentive staff who offer you takeout or table service. They explained how the table QR code worked and checked in on us to confirm we didn't have any questions about the menu. My tacos: Bruss Lee: Crispy Brussels sprouts, kung pao sauce, aioli, cashews, chili threads Coco Loco: Sage-breaded shrimp, crisp slaw, sweet chili, toasted coconut, cilantro The Cowboy: BBQ braised pork, crispy onions, BBQ sauce, cilantro Amazing!!! I was seriously impressed. The tortillas are warm and hearty to hold up to ALL the generous ingredients. The Bruss Lee taco was the taco I was on the fence about, nervous that it might miss the mark. WOW, was I wrong? The Brussels sprouts were busting with flavor, the kung pao aioli added a depth of flavor, and the roughly chopped cashews added a nice crunch to this taco. This was hands down my favorite taco today. The Coco Loco had two perfectly fried large shrimp over a bed of delicate slaw, and the toasted coconut was a really nice topper. This taco had a little too much sweet chili sauce for my liking, but this didn't stop me from devouring it. Next time I will just order the sauce on the side. The Cowboy taco arrived with a big 'ol pile of braised shredded pork that was seasoned well and topped with crunchy fried onions. The meat on this taco was wet due to the braising liquid and it was impressive how well the tortilla held the meat perfectly. Similar to the Coco Loco the BBQ sauce on this taco was a little on the sweet side for my taste I think I would prefer it on the side. Bonus points: Gender-neutral bathrooms & non-disintegrating biodegradable straws!! The tortillas are made special for Avo Taco. A callout for anyone not gluten-free, these corn tortillas are made with a mix of corn and flour. They offer gluten-free options, so be sure to check the menu. I will definitely be back the only question which tacos do I get? read more

I love it so much Bandito are just ok, guacamole didn't bring any highlight to the taco, it's little dry. Big Shrimpin is just okay too. Buffalo Soldier is my favorite. First time at Avo Taco. We ordered the guacamole and chips and street corn as apps. The corn was bland while the guacamole was pretty good. My friend had a steak taco which had a nice amount of guacamole on top. I had the chicken bowl and found it to be pretty good. The servers were very friendly but could be more attentive. Avo does have happy hour drink and food specials until 6:00pm Happy hour does attract a lot of young families with little toddlers so be forewarned. read more

We came twice. Our first visit was strictly bar. The mojitos we ordered were delightful and bursting with fresh flavors! The staff are all very nice. Our second visit, we enjoyed the queso biria and the chimichuri steak tacos. Both looked and tasted very good! Our starter was the guacamole and chips. The chips were thin and crispy and lightly salted and complimented the already-delicious guacamole. The atmosphere was very noisy and almost felt like we were sitting in a busy food court at a mall. Service on the second visit was a bit delayed and not notable. Our waitress forgot our guacamole twice. The third time I got up to request it personally from the staff. We had to serve our own water. I'm a regular here so that says it's good but it's pretty pricey. Service here is always friendly and accommodating. The music is live and it's usually a bar party type of vibe. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us good recommendations. I went with the chimichurri steak taco and the blackened mahi taco. The food was out super quick. Excellent service! Reasonably priced $6 per taco, 2 tacos each was enough to fill us up. Loved the wings, they make the sauce in house and it was very tasty. Some of the best wings I've had. I had a virgin piña colada that was refreshing as well as the dessert I definitely recommend the tres leches cake! read more
