My husband and I attended the "Eat Like a Local" food tour while in Cabo San Lucas this week. Robin and Silvano were great hosts and we discovered some new eateries. We have been coming to Cabo for years and didn't know about any of these restaurants! Everything was delicious and the mole was my favorite! This is a "must do" event when visiting Cabo! Bravo Robin and Silvano!

So glad we did this local walking food tour! Jonathan was great, he is knowledgeable, kind, entertaining and funny. We didn't walk too far, but just a bit off the main touristy streets and there were so many other delicious places to discover and to dine at. My fave was definitely the street vendor's shrimp ceviche, followed closely by the Al pastor tacos (and the grass fed steak they also fed us). Mmm... so good. We also had the crunchiest birria tacos which stayed crunchy after several dunks into the consomme. Followed by chicken mole, and a stuffed churro for dessert. I feel like such a dummy for saying this, but I had the image of lots of avocados for this "Avo-Cabo" tour. But thankfully all the delicious food we ate, more than made up for it (ok there were like 2 slices of avocados on one of the dishes we tasted). Lol. Come on an empty stomach and leave satisfied. With dessert to boot! You won't even need to bring water, they will provide cold bottled water. Highly recommended. Towards the end of the tour, we took a local bus back. Everything including tips to the restaurants and servers were included in the price, except tips for your tour guide. (And any canned beer or Palomas you might want to buy at the local bodega we stop by, yes just do it!)

This is a MUST!!!! Come hungry!! If you like tacos, food, learning Mexican heritage, good company, trying local places, and for a great deal-- this is it!! Better than we expected!! Jonathan & his team were on top of it!!! We experience 5 different places in 3 hours. Can't wait to go back to some the restaurants We really enjoyed ourselves and the company. Good times This is the best way for you to experience being a local, your tastebuds will thank you. And let's not forget- knowing the local places, you get the local prices!! Not the resort commercial prices for fish tacos We ate street corn, chicken mole, pork tacos, fish tacos, octopus, ceviche, and churros. They brought plenty of waters too. After each place, you will walk a few more blocks to the next place. Perfect to let your tummy settle and get hungry again! Wear comfortable walking shoes!!

Best foodie tour in Cabo. Hubby and I went on the Eat like a LocalTour with Robin. She is very knowledgeable about the local food cuisine and is an awesome foodie documentarian. Learned a ton about the culture in Cabo in addition to the yummy food. We had 5 local stops and bought some beer at a convenience store as it is a byob tour. We started with an amazing birria taco (ate too fast and forgot to take picture), the best silky smooth mole chicken w/rice and beans I have ever had, al pastor taco where the pork is made on rotisserie pit (think how they make shawarma), a poblano pepper shrimp taco, a grilled octopus taco and ended with a homemade Mexican ice cream sandwich. We were stuffed!! Totally recommend this tour to everyone wanting a authentic local food and flavor. Tip - bring a small backpack so you can carry water and beer or drinks.

This 3 year old company has a fun Local's Food Tour. They also have a Taco Tour, a Seafood Tour & an upcoming Breakfast tour. We e noted the 8nlocatiins we hit. I thought the price was high, but then we did not just get samplings,,,, the meals we received were more than expected and SO worth the price. We loved this Tour! Kevin from Palm Springs, CA

We took the taco tour today with Johnathan and it was spectacular. He's so knowledgeable about Mexican history and food, and he drops little nuggets of wisdom and fun facts along the way. He takes you to the best local spots and helps you taste the true, authentic Cabo. We are totally stuffed and happy. Thank you so much Johnathan. Next time we come back to Cabo we will definitely be doing another tour with Avocabo tours.

Absolute foodie heaven to go on a tour "eat like a local" with Jonathan!! You will not want to waste your stomach on mediocre resort food after for sure!! Jonathan is also a wealth of knowledge about history, people and food - ask him anything!!!

Excellent experience with Jonathan as our guide to 5 amazing local restaurants for a variety of tacos, tostadas, mole, street corn, churros and drinks. Between bites, we learned about the history of Mexican & Aztec foods and drinks and other insights into the local areas and life. We will try some of their other tours when back in Cabo San Lucas It was an English speaking tour and we walked a comfortable route through the area, went for a cool bus ride and enjoyed conversation with others on tour. There is an abundance of food provided throughout, so you may need to pace yourself when eating. The ahi tuna tostada and mezcal were excellent.

This is a must! I joined a small group and it was fantastic! Besides walking around the non tourist areas (which I prefer), we got to learn about Mexico and the history of their food. That's my kind of tour. I listened to people here and did the tour my first day. I will be back to some of these for sure. We started off with a sea bass ceviche which was great! We then walked further to have hibiscus tea and a mole. Who knew that the mole was such a complex food and that it's so old. I am pescaterian, and was well accommodated with a vegetarian option. The rest got chicken. We then went on to have one of the more famous tacos around Cabo. Stop 4 was another taco but with one of the most famous chefs in Cabo. Most of my group got an octopus taco and I got a tostada. So good!!! We then also learned about Mezcal and how to drink it. Lastly, stuffed charros! Holy wow. So stuffed! So good! Both Jonathan and his colleague were great. The price includes everything, including food and tips. No alcohol though

The treat here were the many flavors of Aqua Fresca and Horchatta. The horchata was the best one we had, very cinnamony. I had a pastor taco and a small steak quesadilla. There is some special cheese they use in mexican quesadillas that really turn me on. It's melty and chewier. But the pastor here was also excellent. We did have a very grumpy server. I think he was just covering for the regular gal while she was on break, but man, he was not happy about it.

Proper Mexican mole the kind built from dried chiles, nuts, seeds, and even a whisper of chocolate thick, dark, mysterious stuff that tastes like it took a committee of grandmothers three days to invent. I took one bite and nearly wrote home about it. Rich, smoky, a little sweet... the sort of sauce that makes a man pause mid-chew and reconsider every sauce he has ever trusted before. Then the tacos arrived, and that's when things got serious. These weren't tidy little tacos meant for polite company. No sir. These were the kind where the juice runs down your hands and you stop worrying about manners because flavor has taken command of the ship. La Lupita is known around Cabo for its creative tacos and massive mezcal selection, and judging by the crowd and the music humming through the place, folks already know the secret. The staff goes the extra mile with every little detail, and before long you realize you didn't just stop for tacos you discovered a whole new method of happiness, served on a tortilla.

The place itself does not have a high-end vibe or atmosphere, so the pricing just didn't match the experience at all. The service was nice, I'll give them that, but the food did not justify the cost. I've had way better tacos for way less. And trust me, I've had a lot of tacos in my lifetime. It honestly feels like this place is taking advantage of tourists with these prices.

There was some real competition for top meal, but this one ran away with it. It is a little up the hill and slightly off the main tourist path from downtown Cabo, but still totally walkable and well worth the effort. And if you can plan ahead, go on a Monday. That is when they offer the Molcajete special, which is reason enough on its own to visit. I also heard their steak night is fantastic, so you really cannot go wrong. The space itself is beautiful. The dining room feels polished and inviting, and there is also a charming outdoor area if you prefer fresh air over AC. We kicked things off with the tableside guac, which was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want to start a meal. Even better, they brought out a complimentary little starter first, which is one of my absolute favorite restaurant traditions. In this case it was two mini empanadas, one mushroom and one cheese. Truly a Sophie's choice situation because both were excellent - hubby and I split them in half. For the main event, we split the Molcajete Monday special. You can choose your protein, and we went with steak, though chicken and (I think) shrimp were also options. It came with both corn and flour tortillas if you ask nicely, all housemade. The portion was easily enough for two. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly, sitting in a smoky, slightly spicy sauce in a traditional volcanic stone bowl. Absolutely delicious and one of those dishes you keep talking about long after the meal ends- and much to my travel companions dismay, I talked about it for many days after... Even though we were completely stuffed, I had already seen photos of the flan and could not skip it. We ordered that along with churros to share among four people. Do yourself a favor and skip the churros-- The towering flan is the star. Everyone at the table agreed it was the best we have ever had. A nearby table ordered the crème brûlée and looked genuinely jealous once they saw ours arrive. For what felt like a splurge night, the final bill was surprisingly reasonable, especially compared to US city prices. When you split dishes like we did, it feels like an incredible value for the quality. Treat yourself to this place. And if at all possible, go on a Monday. We almost went back a second time, which says everything. Bathrooms are also lovely, and there is an open kitchen. Service was great too. Treat yo-self!!!
