Overall the food was very good. Mole Con Pollo was outstanding. Chile rellenos a bit spicy with seeds. The pork carnitas was delicious. My only complaint was the empanada appetizer not really empanadas and they were burnt to a crisp. They should remove from menu. The Mexican singer had a beautiful voice. Brother in law told us about this dinner and a show spot downtown, said it was a fun memory from years ago, said he wanted to recreate it for the kids. Expectations...janky and low. Reality...vibrant cultural expression, really really good song & dance (90 min show!) with a well paced dinner (we had the big family meal with everything. The pibil pork was the showstopper.) Staff was super attentive and cool (we had 4 guys watching our table). Other hits...table side guacamole, habanero salsa, bubbling queso fundido, meats on the BBQ, and they finished it off with sparklers and some "birthday cake" for the kids. A good fun night. The manager came and apologized, the served deserts that were given to make amends. In my opinion, the waiter only came back To the table to serve wine, not to ensure everyone was properly served. Our son and daughter in law who hosted us were not as upset as me. The waiter should never let this happen. It caused a problem for our family. These things don't happen in a quality restaurant. Amazing service at Maria Corona! We truly felt like family. The staff was so wonderful, it felt like white glove service. It's an outdoor restaurant, and perfect weather when we were there. As the sun sets and it gets dark they have string lights to light up the area, creating a perfect ambiance. The drinks and food were top notch, their house Margarita was a 10/10, a must try for everyone. They had a singer, Mexican danzantes, and Ballet Folklorico. The show was spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I definitely recommend this restaurant and will be back the next time we're in Cabo. read more

Honestly, I have a deep seated aversion to tequila but Cabo, specially Maria Corona made made me buy tequila bottles from Cabo lol! Husband and I both got mezcal and tequila drinks, so smooth and so tasty! They also have some entertainment few days a week and we saw some fire show and a dance. This place is expensiveeee!!! The outdoor seating is great and the show starts around 7pm and is worth the pricey food if you have kids. There were very impressive fire twirlers and dancers and other acts including a mariachi band. The guacamole appetizer was very good and they can tailor the spice level to your preference. The margarita was fabulous but at $25 dollars, yes, $25 US dollars, it's ridiculously over priced. The ceviche appetizer was okay but not great. The mole was very good, the carnitas were okay, the fish was disappointing. The kids chicken fingers were okay but not great. All in all I would consider going here for the show but know that the food won't blow you away and is quite expensive. read more

We came for a birthday celebration. We wanted authentic Mexican food. They made suggestions for a tine as there would be a show that night. We were seated promptly. The queso plate was made in front of us with a hot plate. It was delicious. We had been eating all day so we opted to share the pork shank. I expected a single plate however they split the plate and brought us individually beautiful plate. In addition, we had dessert with a Happy Birthday written in chocolate! Even before I noticed that they add 15% to the exchange rate when giving patrons the offer to pay in U.S. Dollar, which is ridiculously offensive and unethical, I was disappointed in the restaurant. Tortilla chips and tortillas were stale. You would expect this from a Mexican restaurant in Alabama, but not one in Mexico. The place is nice, I guess. Food average. Don't go for the special that they push on you. Order individual plates. Not worth the price and the food is average. Mole was actually good, but spicy. I came here expecting something much better. Once in a great while you stumble across a spot that blows you away. This was that. I'd heard of the 140 peso lunch special but was skeptical of what it might be... but today we dove in. And I loved it. You go in off the street into a huge beautiful courtyard and are temperature checked and seated. You just say "I'll have the special!" And the service starts. Led by Gabriel and his staff they tell you about the two for one margarita deal.... then you check into Yelp and get it free!!!! Lunch is 3 course with salad, fantastic chips and salsa, a pork stew (delicious) and dessert! More margaritas please!!! The special is daily and based on what workers eat thus the price. What a dinner! The wait staff was kind, help, and super attentive. We have the most amazing dinner - tortilla soup (had a great flavor and kick), catch of the day (had to served two different ways which was wonderful), and the Mexico Moles' Festival (they say serves 2... it could have served our family of 4. Honestly I just don't think it was our thing. It definitely seemed more "American" than what we wanted. They do a show, the chips were greasy, definitely more "upscale", and the food just wasn't great. This was actually the only place in Cabo I did not feel well after eating. The food was way too rich and I do not enjoy sitting for 3 plus hours for dinner. The place is not cheap either. All of this being said- the establishment itself is very nice and the servers and dancers were great. I think this is definitly more for families with kids, or people who are in Mexico and want to keep it super American chain (think Azteca, Moctezuma, etc.) read more

Came here for my parents anniversary and had an amazing time! My mom and I got the catch of the day (sea bass) and it was very good. The damas margaritas were phenomenal, I asked for passionfruit and absolutely loved it! The staff was incredible, from the hosts to the servers to their musician. Just finishing up a week in Cabo and my whole family agreed this was the best food we have had the whole week we've been here. The best guac we've had all week. Margaritas were freshly made and huge. The table side queso was incredible. Sadly, we were very disappointed at the end of our meal. The reason for the poor rating is due to being charged $25 USD per shot for "rattle snake mezcal" that was being brought around table to table to try. No one made it apparent that this was going to be charged, let alone $25 a shot. We also were charged for birthday cake that was brought to the table for my family member's birthday... which no one had ordered. Unfortunate that such a delicious dinner with excellent service was soured by these unexpected charges. Looking through reviews I can see that this isn't an uncommon occurrence here. I hope that they consider changing these practices as I think they would have had us as return customers had this not happened. read more

We most recently visited Maria Corona during the week of Halloween and Dia de los Muertos (we came twice). We were surprised and delighted to find the outdoor seating, so likely it's been awhile since we've dined here and not what we remembered. The outdoor dining area was magical - under a canopy of trees combined with the twinkling lights and music. Great atmosphere! Visiting during this time, there was a Dia del los Muertos stage performance, and Dia de los Muertos characters interacting with guests. We really enjoyed seeing the costumes and the show. Our go-to every time we've come here is the chorizo queso dip prepared table side. It's so good. We enjoyed chips & salsa, the green was fabulous! We opted to just come for appetizers and drinks! We ordered the Carne Asada dish, which came with a flank steak (a bit too salty, but otherwise yummy), a cheesy enchilada drenched in mole sauce (my favorite), a baked potato, Mexican rice, and tortillas on the side. The real stars of the meal were the chips & guacamole, and the queso & chorizo appetizer dish, both of which were prepared table-side. The service was excellent. Our server Kevin took great care of us, provided good recommendations, and was attentive. The restaurant itself is also really adorable...nice big open-air porch and an even larger outdoor seating area that feels like a beer garden. They also have live music, which is nice. The rests was extremely cute patio style. We were on the patio with a live one man performance. He serenaded all those there celebrating birthdays including mine. The service was great. Servers were attentive, but there was a lot of people in the restaurant when we went. The price of the food was a bit pricey, but the drinks were even pricier. Thinking we might have hit $100-120 USD, when our bill was presented it was $243. Was a bit surprised to find our cocktails to be approximately $27/drink. Called the day after I posted my review and had a reasonable conversation about my experience. I provided my receipt along with a timeline of what I ate that day. 3/3 food poisoning in our family within hours of the seafood platter is quite compelling from a data driven perspective. Ok so my wife and I started our anniversary night there on a Monday night....no expenses were to be barred. When we arrived we were two of maybe 20 people in a massive sized Restuarant. We still decided to give it a try. The service was great. The food is just okay. I thought it would be nice to end the night with a bang..... we ordered the tres leeches cheesecake ( not cheesecake , but cake ). We thought maybe they would do something special for our anniversary since they asked. Nope we paid full price for the cake. Then I ordered 3 shots (one double, and one single) of clase azul tequila. No prob it was yummy. The problem arose when we got the bill. It was 8100 pesos for those "three"shots of tequila that are actually made in Mexico. I paid the bill...$ 568.00 US. And gave the waiter $100 US tip. As I'm riding back to my accommodation, I realized I paid $427.00 US For tequila. WTH??!! That is crazy!!! Not sure if it's my fault for not asking how much the shots were or their fault for not telling me they charge 3 times Los Angeles bar prices for tequila made in Mexico. I am extremely disappointed as we brought 20 people to this establishment yesterday and before we made the reservations we called and spoke to Carlos who answered the phone. We told him that we wanted 1 free drink per person and chips and salsa with guacamole if we bring 20 people there (10 of them were kids) and he said sure not a problem come on down. When we got there, and ordered all of our meals, the bill came and Boom!! We got charged for the guacamole. We had 5 checks between all families and we got charged $100 for the guacamole. I WILL NEVER BRING, REFER OR MENTION MARIA CORONA TO ANY OF MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS AND Business associated ever I am done with this place. Liars and don't stand by their words.
