From my perspective, there was no obvious explanation for the difference in service, such as a different menu item or an expedited option that was communicated to customers. What made the situation particularly noticeable was that the employees appeared to interact with the other couple primarily in Spanish, resulting in a more personalized and attentive experience. Whether intentional or not, it created the perception that customers with whom employees shared a common language or cultural familiarity were receiving preferential treatment. In any customer-facing business, perception matters just as much as intent. Restaurants succeed when every customer believes they are treated with the same level of respect, attentiveness, and fairness. If there are legitimate reasons why orders are prepared or served out of sequence, those reasons should be transparent and consistently applied. Otherwise, customers are left to conclude that different standards are being used. I might return because the food was enjoyable, but I hope management evaluates its service practices to ensure that every guest receives an equally attentive and equitable experience, regardless of the language they speak or their background.
