It was good but nothing to write home about and I was absolutely shocked that after tax it was $18.50 and they wanted to tip??? You could at least throw in a little bag of chips or a cookie with that. I think you need to reevaluate your prices because I will not be coming back The ambience was less than pleasant especially because you have to wait to get into the parking lot because Burger King has a line waiting for drive-through. This is a local establishment and has been here a very long time. They produce good food but your locals can't afford $18 for lunch sandwich. Ouch! read more

My wife and I were enjoying a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Avon and we got hungry. I have eaten here so many times and had not had issues until today. My wife and I ordered and ate our sandwiches,then my wife wanted a refill of her drink. The soda machine was dirty and sticky and when my wife pressed the soda button it got stuck because of the filth. She then alerted the front staff and the soda just kept spewing out. My wife the did the only thing she could think of and tried to use a plastic knife to unstick the button. Then the so called manager or owner came out and ripped the knife out of her had and was rude without any consideration of her and her clothes that got wet with soda because of a filthy machine. He then proceeded to be hatful. I confronted him and let him know that his behavior is not acceptable. He kept being rude and I then asked him if his disrespectful attitude towards us could be related to our skin tone. All he had to say was that the conversation was over and he asked me to step outside as if he wanted to fight. Super unprofessional. I never raised my voice or used profanity. But I should have. Next time if I ever do visit your business again do not get in my way or even address me period. Don't be a tough guy with defenseless women pall. read more

The Bakeries & Delis in this area are all seriously inventive & creative. I am very impressed & look forward to the awesome smells wafting down the streets. I will admit that I can hardly pass one by. The list of Organic Artisan Breads @ Avon Bakery & Deli goes on & on. I'm doing my best to try them all, but my faves are Marble Rye & Ciabatta. Sandwiches, Soups, Salads are all very good. You can put together just about any combination you like. House-made Dressings too. The variety of Pastries & flavors is really tempting! Great little bakery and cafe tucked in Avon. Stopped for a small bite, butternut squash soup hit the spot. Just so happened that Tuesdays are 2 for, and left with two loaves of bread that I can't wait to try when I get home. Certainly will remember this place when back in this area. read more

We were on our way to Burger King when the bus driver tipped us off to the Avon Bakery. I was secretly smiling inside because when I'm on vacation I'd rather eat at local places then fast food chains. I ordered the "Italian"because I noticed it was one of their signature sandwiches. It had : Genoa salami, nitrite free natural ham, capacolla & provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, oregano, oil & vinegar, salt & pepper, on a baguette. It was good but a little salty. I ate half of it and traded my husband for his half of his chicken salad sandwich. I liked the chicken salad so much it made me regret eating dinner at an expensive place the previous night. I liked the chicken salad more than the prime rib I had . The chicken salad had walnuts, golden raisins, fresh thyme, celery, lettuce , tomato, sprouts & onions on a Ciabatta. I wasn't sure about the raisins until I tasted it. Everything went together like a perfect melody. The only thing I would advise against is the lemonade it was too sour ! When you first walk in it looks like there isn't enough seating but there is more on the left side of the deli. It gets busy so it is best to sit towards the back away from the counter. The price is right at $9.00 for most sandwiches . I think it is worth it because the quality of the ingredients is better than your run of the mill Subway chain. read more

Avon Bakery was a good spot to have a quick breakfast. The restaurant is small and pretty self service, but the employees were extremely friendly and helpful. We ordered the Full Monty and French Toast. Hubby really enjoyed the French Toast and I liked my plate. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and the bacon was good. First of all it's amazing that I'm even able to write this review!...parking here can be tricky during the lunch rush, but I now see why. Thank goodness I persevered and stuck with my plan of grabbing a healthy lunch to go! I got to enjoy the salad special if the day, all while taking in the glorious valley on this absolutely amazing day! The salad was packed full of goodies; baby kale, spinach, shaved Brussel sprouts, carrots, goat cheese, sunflower seeds and dried cranberries, all topped with a deliciously grilled chopped chicken...YUM! Absolute best bagels in Colorado! Multigrain and Swiss veggie are my favorite. Homemade veggie soups like butternut squash are delicious. Eggplant Parm sandwich is awesome. True story: I was first lead to Avon Bakery because of a "Smash" burger at Elway's the previous evening. No offense Elway's, but the bun practically MADE the burger! So I asked my server, "Do you make these buns in-house and where can I get more?" She politely told me that Avon Bakery makes their buns and the rest is history! I trotted over there sometime midmorning from my hotel. Oh myyy gosh! There weren't many bakery items left...but what WAS left I wanted to hoard and take back with me to Denver. I swear, i wanted one of everything!! The owner was there and was SO cool and awesome. I told him how I found the place and he went out of his way to make me feel welcome, in spite of the constant buzz of people all around. Excellent! We stopped in for lunch... when we saw the line out the door (all locals) we knew it was a good pick. There are a few tables and a counter inside for seating, and a couple tables outside on the sidewalk. We tried a salad, sandwich and tomato basil soup. All excellent. They serve breakfast sandwiches all day, as other reviewers have mentioned. What others have not mentioned is that they also have hot food - cheesesteak, meatballs, paninis, etc. Of course the baked goods looked amazing. Very friendly service, reasonable prices. Was looking for a quick lunch spot with sandwiches and found this place via Yelp on our way through Vail/Avon/Eagle. Seeing the fresh-made artisan breads and baked goods as we walked in immediately confirmed we'd made a good choice. Although sandwich prices were pretty high, we soon found out the quality made up for it. All fresh ingredients, and a significant variety of ingredients and breads. I ordered the turkey club and was pleasantly surprised to find it was a turkey breast filet instead of sliced deli meat. It came with all the toppings I would hope for on a sandwich - the avocado, pepper jack cheese and chipotle aioli were a small surcharge. They had no problem letting me sub out the ciabatta bread for wheat. A croissant would have been good too; I'm just not a fan of ciabatta in general. My sister got a breakfast sandwich on a croissant and couldn't stop raving about it. She is a very hard person to please and rarely finishes her meal. She normally picks food apart and leaves most behind, but this sandwich she ate without any picking and finished it all. That says a lot! My brother-in-law got a huge rueben and loved it as well. Though, that doesn't say a lot because he'll eat anything ;) It was a very generous portion and, again, all the ingredients were high quality. The staff was very attentive and the service was quick for fresh-made sandwiches.
