I will start by saying these apartments were built in the 50s or 60s and I lived here for 1 year, 7 months. 1. Don't expect too much from quality of these apartments. The wood floors is what I liked about them but they creek alll the time, my roof was caved in a lil they did fix it but during my stay here my neighbor had here entire roof fall in! And they do lots of repairs on roofs. The bathrooms don't have proper ventilation besides opening the window, which led to mold in the bathroom. I let the maintenance know and they sprayed with bleach water, which I felt that was unacceptable because it's just a coverup and eventually will come back and did. They're the type of apartment that paints over dirt.... My tub started peeling a year in. 2. The ppl that work in the office are nice but it's hard to get a hold of them 3. I really like the neighborhood, it's a great location. 4. I'm from the west coast and never in my life have I seen big ass roaches like I've seen here, there were about 7 times where I seen them. While we were living there: Mold problems? Check! (That I dealt with myself after calling the office about it several times.) Our back door slowly being unable to open or close because the entire place is sinking? Check! (They did come "fix" this- the "fix" was literally shaving off the entire top of the door and leaving wood chips and splinters everywhere.) The pool NEVER being open when they say it will be? Check! (Good luck getting in that thing more than two weeks out of the year.) Gate hardly ever working? Check, check! When we were trying to leave: Get ready to be frustrated. Multiple conversations over phone calls, emails, and in person yielding absolutely ZERO results because no one at the front desk is allowed to do anything about your situation and you WILL be kept from any communication with higher ups. Charges for things on our exit bill that did not make any sense! Asked several times about this, was even told it made no sense and that changes would be made, and changes never were. NO DEPOSIT BACK. Even though we kept the place in perfect condition. The exit experience here could not be worse. The walking trails are nice, the neighbors are friendly, and it's nice to have hard wood floors. That's about it. Kind staff but completely unable to help you - I blame upper management 100%. Sigh Another Scam-lanta experience. The clown Sh!t Thickens Steer clear of this place !!! I've only been here 3 months and it's been a nightmare. The first month there was a gas leak in the apartment that was so strong I couldn't even run the heater and this lasted from late April when I moved into the apartment through May. I had to use a small space heater for those cool spring mornings least risk being poisoned When I complained to the manager Bennett, she told me that maintenance told her to just keep running the heating unit until all of the gas fumes are gone!!???? WTF The leak made me sick and nauseous and I missed a couple of days work...instead of Bennett offering to move me to another apartment or compensating me on the rent she decides to try to get an additional $412 out of me for a gas bill. Lemme explain... ...Before you move in you have to give them the account numbers to all of your utilities. I set up the gas utility, was told it takes at least 45 days to get a bill...so, I was awaiting a bill that never came because the company "claims" that I had a gas account number and connection date...but no bill due to not having established an account... Never heard of such clown Sh!t The best part is that the office took it upon themselves to disconnect the gas without any notice. Later, I was sent a letter demanding that if I didn't pay the $412 for two months, she would have the bill in my name disconnected. Recently, the office wanted to 'inspect the furanace' , and 'read the meter'. I remember thinking "why would a leasing office read the meter and not the gas company?!" I received my answer. How about the official first bill was for $18 with credits for 'setting up the bill incorrectly ' but on closer inspection, I was being charged more than the bills they tried to bully me into paying as it's $40 for one day and $100 for 7 days. More clown Sh!t Also.... They have a pool but it becomes a pietre dish of bacteria as it's never professionally cleaned I never have smelled chlorine. I've only seen lots of trash, debris and green algae. The manager is never in the office and depends upon the leasing agent who can pretty much do whatever she pleases. The gates are broken frequently. Inside the apartment, there is pealing paint all over especially in and around the tub (just get a new one for Pete's sake!), no vents in the kitchen or bath and the air conditioning unit sounds like a leaf blower had a baby with a lawn mower! Most importantly... Read the fine print in your lease because if you are late( which can happen in this over inflated economy) and they file a dispossessory, which is $54.00; the resident will be responsible for 15% of legal fees (of a nebulous undisclosed amount...how is this even legal?!) management is allowed to make up numbers to get you to pay $500+...ok, let's pause for the cause, because trust me, that number is grossly exaggerated, if 15% of the actual fee is $500 the original amount would be close to $4k, I've known people familiar with the leasing industry who've told me that's inaccurate, yet the "manager" will refuse to take the rent w/ late fees as with other communities because fleecing you is wayyyy more important. More clown Sh!t The moral of the story. Do not move here! read more

These people do not give a shit about you! Evicted me with 3 days notice. NOT 30! I had a very friendly cat that was taken by someone in the community. I emailed the office 3 times, asking them to send emails with my cat's picture -to specific apartments. Not the whole community. All I heard was crickets. I left Monday, all my stuff sitting in the parking lot, getting rained on. I didn't have enough time to get enough money to move. Property management doesn't care. I had a nice patio table in back of my apartment. There are NO patios. The cleaning lady told me that the lawn maintenance broke one of the legs, so she tossed it!! Never notified me... Their rents are high and not worth it. If you are in a first floor apt, your heating bill will be astronomical because the floors have no insulation. These apartments were built for the military. If you live your animals and don't mind paying reasonable rent, do not go here. read more

Don't move in here. I was attracted by the cheap rent and size of the apartments and was able to blow it off when little things went wrong, BUT- I just had to go a few months without sleep because management let 7 people live below me. They were running a Chinese restaurant out of that apartment and kept me up until 2 or 3 am most days (I had to get up at 6 am on weekdays, it sucked). They didn't care when I went to ask them to quiet down, and disregarded the letter that the manager, Tina, sent. I give her credit for sending the letter, but the tenants didn't care because they were leaving anyway. AND they stayed longer than Tina told me they would, which may have been out of her hands but STILL caused me to lose sleep another week. Imagine trying to go to work on 3 hours of sleep every day for 2 weeks. Walking zombie. And what do I get for the distress this caused? A letter saying that I have to pay a $450 fee (not deposit, fee. i'll never see that money again) for the cats that I've been catsitting for a few months, even though I'm only going to be here until December. Completely unreasonable, especially considering that there isn't carpet here or anything that a cat could ruin. Bottom line- I remained flexible through the noisy neighbor/no sleep ordeal but they were not able to be flexible with me whatsoever, not even for an inch. I can't wait to get out of this hellhole. PS The water pressure sucks, the blinds are the cheapest they could find and they break with normal use, the AC doesn't really work, the paint is peeling. I lived in Avondale Station Apartments for two years and had a good experience. The apartments were built in the 1960's so they are on the older side, so people have to realize their standards cannot be compared to a brand new apartment. The age adds to their charm and eclecticism. The property managers Tina and Jenna have been very accommodating and responsive to my needs. The apartments are in Avondale Estates, one of my favorite areas in Atlanta. It is very quaint and quiet and close to a lot of cool places. You're not going to find another apartment in this area with as much space in Decatur for the same amount of money. If you have an issue, communicate to the property managers and they will take care of it. read more

This housing project is a JOKE!! I was talking with a resident at the pool recently. He is having the same problem with HEATING AND AIR CONDITION problems like everyone else!! NO HEAT in the winter months in both bedrooms and NO AIR CONDITIONING in the Summer!! Property management could CARE LESS!! OH the apartments are dated and "IT IS WHAT IT IS PER TINA in the leasing office. The current Management could care less!! Maybe need to bulldoze this trailer park down. RENTER BEWARE!!! The low rent for the area is a red flag. I lived there for 4 short months and was let out of my lease due to the multiple issues with my apartment. First there was the mold that grew in the bedroom closet getting all over my shoes and clothes. Don't think that is the only place the mold grew, the hall closet and bathroom also had serious mold issues. The silver fish in the bathroom were always gross to see and it didn't matter how much I cleaned they were always there...ewwww!!! I can't forget about the code violation with the furnace and water hater. The gas company tagged both leaving me without heat and hot water for a few...did I mention is it winter. Lastly, I can't leave out the obligatory roach or two. Again it doesn't matter how much you clean or spray they find a way in. The office personnel lacks professionalism to say the least. The maintenance guy is sure to ask you out for pizza...creepy. There are a few positives, the neighborhood is quite and secure. My neighbors were cool. Great stuff in walking distance. read more

There's a reason for why their rent is cheap. Their furnace system barely works, and it's obnoxiously loud. I could never get rid of the draft in the apartment during winter, and it's worse since my apartment was on the ground level. As someone before me said, the walls are also pretty thin, and you'll just be in the know of whatever your neighbors are doing. What bugs me the most is the deposit return process. The leasing office miscalculated the amount they owed me and my roommate, and we had to call them a number of times to get the rest of the money. And they weren't even apologetic at all which made me write this review. The only positive side of staying there was the maintenance staff! They were very nice and caring people. But I do regret staying here. read more

Please don't be fooled by price or size- both are nice. However, do you like mold? This apartment is covered in it as well as neighbors apartments. Defunct vehicles? Yup, got those too. If you want working air conditioning or heat don't live here, ours has broken 3 times in the past 3 months and all the fixes are band aids that don't really fix the problem. Plus the buildings are so old it basically feels like you are experiencing the weather inside which makes your utility bills astronomical. read more

This apartment complex is old and needs some fixing up but all in all the place and atmospere is amazing. The leasing office is always friendly to me when I come in and very down to earth. The maintance......his name is Dee(I think) is somewhat of a jerk. He definitely has a chip on his shoulder. I have walked into the leasing office and heard him talking down to the manager and leasing person. I would recommend this apartment complex to anyone. read more
