If you are ever in the Bowling Green, Kentucky area, and you are gluten-free or not, you absolutely must go visit Awaken Bakery | Always Gluten-Free! My husband had to make an unscheduled, quick trip to Bowling Green this week for work. I decided to travel with him. I will never skip a trip to Bowling Green again, just so I can go back to this bakery. I have been gluten-free for 13 years and have tried gluten-free baked products all over the country from Washington state to Florida. Awaken Bakery has absolutely broken the code on gluten-free bread and desserts. My husband does not eat gluten-free unless he takes a bite of something I have. Yesterday, he tried a blueberry scone, shared a toasty sandwich with me, shared a sausage biscuit with me, and also got a lemon cake cup. He said everything he ate, he would not ever have been able to tell was gluten-free and was absolutely delicious. Oh, he also shared my cinnamon roll with me. We devoured that thing in less time than it took to actually order and pay for it! That cinnamon roll was the BEST cinnamon roll I have ever had in my life, gluten-free or not! I also got a mini cupcake sampler that had wedding cake, carrot cake, and a chocolate version that I have not tried yet. Having traveled the country to eat, lol, I can tell you that this Awaken Bakery is one place that I will absolutely put on my list to travel back to any opportunity I have. I wish I hadn't been starving and had taken the time to take photos of their sweet little bake shop and all of our food before we started devouring it, but I did manage to grab a photo of the cupcake sampler, minus one cupcake, the French toast, cup, and the lemon cake cup. Everything was so delicious that I even bought a hat and T-shirt and ball cap from them. I am including a photo of that. The little girl that took our order was super sweet and very knowledgeable. Okay. Really. A Gluten-Free place with flavor? I've only eaten the Chocolate Chip Scone and it's the best I've ever eaten. I can't put into words how good it was. I wish I had warmed it but, it'd put me in a coma. I'm not gluten-free but a co-worker (also not GF) wanted me to try one because it's good. These aren't your traditionally shaped scones. By all appearances, it seems the bottom is fried and the scone is baked. I'm not sure how this all happened but, keep it up! The flavor is amplified. I found out about 6 weeks ago that I need to cut out gluten so when I discovered this gem in Bowling Green, I was so excited to try it! Mind blown at the delicious gluten free baked goods! This place is such a gem to have in our area. If you have food allergies and want fantastic tasting and great quality alternatives this should be your go to Our daughter lives in Louisville and has nothing in a city that size that comes even close to Awakens offerings. Was passing through Bowling Green from Nashville and checked out yelp for a gf spot. So excited to find Awaken! I got a delicious chicken salad sandwich and both dairy free cupcakes! The bread for the sandwich tasted like sourdough (which I love!) I just ate the chocolate vegan cupcake and it was delicious as well! Very rich and chocolatey. Excited to try the strawberry cupcake tomorrow! If you live in Bowling Green, you definitely need to stop in! Bowling Green is so lucky to have Awaken Bakery in our Downtown area. They have the most delicious bread and cupcakes around. And what makes them even more magical is they are all gluten free with some being vegan as well! Yay!! This has quickly become a weekly stop for me!
