We were greeted at our table by Karlie with a beautiful smile and a warm welcome. The restaurant was open but not noisy, I loved the lighting which made it warm and inviting. I was impressed I could stay on my diet with the 4 veggie plate. I chose fresh tomatoes, described by my friend as the tastiest she has had all season. Every one loved their food. The corn cakes were amazing. Grammie came to every table to check on her customers. It was a very enjoyable, delicious lunch and I highly recommend if you are ever in Smiths Grove Kentucky!

Wanted to check it out because of the positive reviews. I ordered the southwest chicken with green beans and tater tots and my friend ordered the club sandwich with Mac n cheese. The chicken was okay. It was a bit salty with the cheese and mushrooms. Tots were from a bag as are the fries (I saw them in the plastic). While dining, someone came in for pickup and they had obviously been there before and I heard them say they love the burgers. My friend's club had a thick cut of ham and he said he enjoyed the sandwich. Great service. The server was on top of the drinks and was friendly. One thing of note is they do pass the credit card fees to the customer. But, they let you know before you pay (instead of just adding it to the bill). This is a practice that many establishments have taken to that really runs me the wrong way. I give it a 3.5/5 for food. 5/5 for service and 3.5/5 for ambiance.

We had the Jessie Special and it was really special. A spicy burger on nicely buttered toast served with a side of tater tots. Steph took our order and told us some of the history of how some Texas girls ended up in Cave City, Kentucky. The restaurant is clean with both tables and booths to choose from and with Texas memorabilia displayed throughout the place. Food came out fast and was delicious. If you take in Mammoth Cave stop by here for a good old fashioned burger and a quart jar of iced tea.

The little white building on 4th Street still wears its vintage RC Cola sign like a badge of honor, and the moment you push open the door, that familiar sizzle of burgers hitting the oil hits you like a hug from your childhood. We slid onto the stools at the old horseshoe counter, the same one I remember from when I was a kid, and watched the magic happen right in front of us. Patties kissed with bread for that impossibly soft center, fried in the shallow oil until the edges turned perfectly crisp and golden. My cheeseburger arrived "unsquoze," glistening and glorious, layered with that signature tangy sauce, crisp pickles, and onions that somehow make everything sing. One bite and I was twelve years old again--only this time I got to share it with my own family. The new owners have kept every bit of what made Dovie's legendary. Same perfect burgers. Same simple, soulful menu. Same feeling that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. My kids devoured theirs with the same wide-eyed joy I used to have, and we left with full hearts and fingers still a little greasy in the best possible way. Dovie's isn't just a burger joint. It's a living piece of Tompkinsville history that still tastes like home. If you've never been, go. If you grew up on these burgers, go back. It's every bit as wonderful as you remember.

Hamburger did taste great and very reasonably priced. Simple menu. Very friendly staff.read more
