Had a decent experience at Montana Grill. We were kindly welcomed and seated immediately. We were brought some complimentary jalapeño cornbread and it was delicious. We shared the southwest egg-rolls and they were delightful. I ordered the Montanas Mongolian Beef Special. It was plentiful and very tasty. All the dishes were served nice and hot. I haven't eaten here in many years and was glad to have the opportunity to have dinner here after a long day of driving. We were quickly seated and ordered our drinks while studying the really excellent menu. Instead of rolls, a cast iron skillet containing "Fire Bread" was delivered to our table. It was delicious and was quickly devoured while waiting for our dinners. My wife ordered the Montana fried chicken salad and I opted for the chicken pot pie. While the salad was nothing out of the ordinary (except the chicken was quite good) she thoroughly enjoyed it. My chicken pot pie was really good and it contained lots of large chunks of chicken. Many places that serve this dish think all you have to do is put some pastry puff over the chicken and you have chicken pot pie. NOT! At Montana Grill, this dish was prepared like I would make it at home-a complete crust which does a great job sopping up the chicken and vegetables. The portion was huge and had I not been traveling, I would have taken some home. This dish was also served in a cast iron skillet. Service was excellent and appreciated after driving nearly 9 hours. Well gave MG a third visit, yuk! Salmon, not sure what the heck they did, over seasoned, crusted outside and undercooked middle. Mushrooms were floating in whatever the sauce was, literally couldn't eat them at all. As much as I want to like this place, I just can't do it anymore. I'll stay at the Embassy from now on and just pay the extra to eat at Tony's. Truly disappointing experience (I will say the bartender was friendly and attentive (Wednesday night 2/11/25) he gets both stars. Had to edit the review and give another star to the bartender, he took the salmon off the bill without me saying a word, bartender simply noticed I did not eat my entree. We got the full slab of ribs and pulled pork sandwiches. The ribs were the size of a half slab and were way overcooked and smothered in a bbq sauce that was too spicy. We stopped in at Montana Mountain Grille while in Bowling Green, KY and found the atmosphere to be very inviting. The restaurant is open, rustic, and feels like a large chalet you'd find in Gatlinburg, warm and comfortable with plenty of space. They start the table off with skillet jalapeño cornbread topped with butter. It was good, but it reminded me a bit of Jiffy mix with added jalapeños, not bad by any means, just not as elevated as I was expecting. My best friend and I both ordered the tomato basil Alfredo with chicken, served over penne and topped with shaved Parmesan. The dish was pretty good and satisfying. Service was great overall, with attentive staff and prompt drink refills, which we appreciated. Ultimately, I'm rating this three stars because we felt the pricing was a bit high for what we received. Would I return? Possibly, but likely for a specific craving or occasion. read more

We always come here when visiting the city. But I think that tradition may soon end. They only have prime rib for dinner and there's limited seating during lunch. Prices have gone up again just over the last six months yet again. Seems to be part of the tradition. I found it interesting how the hostess didn't know if they had prime rib. I thought she was joking but then She just handed me a menu and told me to look myself. Our order got messed up and they delivered a salmon instead of prime rib. And when the prime rib came out it was super super super salty in certain places. The cowboy sirloin medium rare was tough. The French onion soup was good even though it came after we finished our steaks .... And the crème da la creme was after I left them a 15% tip despite all the faux pas that evening, I saw they decided to overcharge my credit card on my statement. We were seated without a wait at dinner time on a weeknight. Our server came right away, introduced themselves, took our drink orders and brought some cornbread to get us started. The pasta stated chunks of chicken. At first I thought that they had forgotten the chicken but was told it was shredded, not enough to even mention. The worst Chicken Pasta I have eaten. We had one of the nicest waitresses and we gave her a really good tip, but the food really stunk. I ordered a prime rib and a side of cabbage. My daughter ordered a larger prime rib, and my husband ordered the Tennessee barbecue platter. We went to the bar before the table was ready. The bartender was rude. The bar was out of most of the wines we wanted. They have a full bar, plenty of menu options and the service is excellent. Our waitress made several last minute recommendations, which were spit on. A Great Steak in a Rustic Setting Montana Grille in Bowling Green is an American Steakhouse and Bar in Bowling Green Kentucky. On a recent visit to the area I was in the mood for a good steak and decided to give Montana Grille a shot. The Restaurant decor is a rustic cabin-like setting with wood beams and western themes. Once I sat down and looked at the menu my server that evening brought out their signature Fire Bread, which is Jalapeno Corn Bread topped with whipped butter and served in a skillet. The bread comes to your table hot, fresh and it was delicious !! Next up, I tried their version of French Onion Soup with layers of ingredients with a flavourful onion soup base. The soup was great and hearty and I highly recommend it if you like French Onion Soup. After all of the calories I consumed, I needed my main course to be on the lighter side and ordered another signature dish, the Jackson Hole Filet. The filet is an 8oz portion, rotisserie fired filet, wrapped in bacon and then slow roasted over hickory coals which gives the Filet a smoky charcoal flavour. Despite its small profile, it was very filling and I had grilled asparagus on the side. This was an excellent meal, in a rustic setting and if meat is your thang, then give Montana Grille a try. You walk in and immediately get steakhouse vibes and a very welcoming hostess/hostesses. I ordered the sirloin and garlic mashed potatoes, I ordered the steak medium rare. The steak came out very tough and more on the medium side. And the garlic mashed potatoes came out cold with a bean in it and also a hair in it. I brought it to the manager attention immediately. She fully apologized for the kitchens mishaps, and offered to bring me a new steak and potatoes out . The new steak was perfectly cooked, and the potatoes were hot and fresh. Growing up in Bowling Green, Montana Grille was always a favorite spot for celebrations and my most recent visit affirmed how great it still is! The jalapeño cornbread in a skillet was a personal favorite while we waited for the meal. I ordered a side salad which was huge (enough for two) with fresh veggies. Montana Grille was our stop on a Saturday night. We suggest getting there at 5:30pm, no wait and walked right in. This was our first time we visited. LOVED their jalapeño bread they provided to us. Hot and Tasty. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and onion soup for appetizer. Onion soup was delicious. Fried green tomatoes were not your typical cuts, they were of the chunks. I ordered the Wagyu burger, they recommended to have it MR. It was definitely bloody. My wife ordered the Rib Eye. It was nothing out of the ordinary. If I could give a negative star(s) I would. I have been there several times and the food was never that great. In the last two years it got even worse. I was there for a company dinner and the wait time for the food was so long that I had started to lose my appetite, and then (maybe a sign from up above) the kitchen caught on fire which explained the lapse in food being brought out. All they could save for my dinner was a lonely piece of fish on a large plate where my shrimp ,fire roasted vegetables, and other side was supposed to be sharing the plate. Yep just one small piece of salmon, I said I think there are some items missing and they explained the fire situation. Okay I get the fire in the kitchen but why don't you just come over and say it that there wasn't anything salvageable order something else. First big strike. Needless to say I went home without eating that night. Fast forward exactly one year later, back again for the company dinner. Seems like they have two servers taking care of 50 people, but service was decent, they brought out their cornbread skillets for tables followed by the saltiest nachos I have ever had. They need to give up on the nachos app. because it is really not good, very very salty stack of chips covered with a glob of meat and melted rubber cheese with a few jalapenos and a dollop of sour cream. Just kill me now. About an hour and a half into it they started bringing out the orders. Finally get to our table, I don't order steak when I go out because I prefer my steak over a sous vide piece of meat which is usually the case in the chain restaurant world. I had thoughts of the Hall Farmstead Wagyu Burger, I am of the mindset of having fries on the side, they have no fries at Montana Grill, so it is a pick of their nasty sides- Spike's Mean Beans Baked Potato Mashed Sweet Potatoes Braised Mushrooms Seasonal Vegetable Creamy Cole Slaw Montana's Garlic Mashed Potatoes Steamed Broccoli Grilled Asparagus Spears Braised Red Cabbage with Goat Cheese) These are great with a hamburger right. I opted for the Wyoming Chef Salad. Normally salads of this supposed size and price point are in a deeper plate/bowl. They bring out my salad on a smallish plate and I can't even see the lettuce, just some grayish colored pieces of shredded chicken and worm shaped ham chunks with chopped bacon that looked like it was overcooked and hard, in the center of it all was tortilla strips and cheese. I started to dig for the greens and found some warm wilted soupy mess underneath the toppings. The cold chicken tasted like it was slow marinated in mop water and the ham had a sour flavor. Nope, I'm done. The wife ordered the Chicken Pot Pie it was cool and not fully cooked in the center. The server came around to check on our table and I handed her my oily on the bottom plate of so-called chef salad and said "it is really bad". Thus my experience of Montana Grill. I said if they come back here next year I will go eat somewhere else first then show up to visit with the others. I will never go back to this overpriced place. The salad price listed was $25 dollars, It's a chef salad not a main dish. NEGATIVE STARS. There were several people in our group who either didn't get their food or returned it. This was a company Christmas dinner, to add insult to injury after telling the server to make sure there was no charge for the bad food the company was charged for it anyway.
