An awesome time indeed! After trodding around to four other Cincinnati shoe repair places with my worn out, favorite pair of boots, a friend recommended I give Awesome Time a try. Located inside Casablanca Vintage in Northside, at the intersection of BP and White Castle, I met Tim the Cobbler. He took a look at my boots, diagnosed them on the spot, and gave me a quote. It was half the cost of what other shoe places in town were telling me. Heck, some shops even insisted that the repair wasn't possible! Within five days, Tim had my boots looking brand new. The workmanship was top notch and my favorite footwear are now back out pounding the pavement. He even gave them a complimentary buff and shoe shine. As I said, they really did come back looking brand new! I dropped off a second pair of boots with him this week and can't wait for them to be brought back to life. I have a pair of leather tall boots from Merrell that have a really nice warm lining in them, so they are stylish and super warm in winter. I walked the sole off of them, and the heel was seriously messed up with water and sidewalk damage. I meant to bring them in the year before but forgot and did a bunch more damage to them. I definitely expected them to look at the degraded heel and tell me they couldn't save them. It wasn't super fast work, but I dropped them off in the fall last year so I wasn't in a rush, anyway, they were like new. It's been a year now and they are holding up great. I wear them every day in the winter and walk several miles a week on the soles and they are super comfortable and not slippery on the ice. Highly recommend for boot repair. I have had a fair few pairs of boots re-soled before I moved to Cincinnati and the work here is definitely superior to what I was getting at other places. read more

Today, walking into awesome time my entrance was not very grand. In fact it was quite unimpressive you'd think of me humble. My mother always told me from an early age the first impression you'll ever make on someone lies in the appearance of your shoes. You simply cannot represent yourself with out a shine in your boot. Anything less is unacceptable. Luckily for me awesome time offers nothing less but much more of that shine leading me towards the walk of success with a bit more confidence in my step. I really wanted to like this place and gave it multiple chances but it just all around disappointed. I came here due to the fantastic reviews even though it is a bit out of the way. First time there I drop off two pairs of shoes that need restored / repaired. Was told they may need a piece on the toe but otherwise a good shine should be all they need. I got my ticket for pickup (a week or so), waited the full time then came back to pick up my shoes. Upon arrival, I'm told that they weren't repaired even though he tried to put something on the heel but it came right off (note that when I brought them in we were talking about the front), and that the shoes weren't cleaned up either. So they had been sitting there all week for nothing. He kindly offered to shine them while I waited, but did not do a great job and did not replace the lace that had snapped on one of the shoes. While I was disappointed in the result, I thought that a place doesn't get 4.5 stars for nothing so I decided to leave a leather belt there that needed some work to see what could really be done. I got my slip and returned 4-5 days after when the belt was supposed to be done. I get there and find that not a single thing had been done to the Belt and was given some bs about the ticket date getting mixed up with the date on my old ticket (also false because they were a week apart). Needless to say I did not want to have my time wasted yet again so I did not leave my belt there and don't plan on returning. Customers time is valuable, please treat it as such. read more

I'd give this 5 stars for the AWESOME name alone. But really, Tim knows his stuff. I took some shoes there a while ago when I wasn't sure whether the shoes were worth returning to the original company, or getting repaired. Tim gave me an honest opinion (advised a return) and refused to take any money from me, even though I felt weird that I had taken his time. I brought in a very expensive pair of sneakers with a ripped sole, and Tim was able to quickly fix the problem of the ripped suede , but he also dropped the price by 150% from his initial estimate. I've brought in a few items to be fixed. No matter what or when, turnaround time is always a week, except for one time, when Tim asked me to come back in an hour TWICE before my shoes were fixed. Luckily, it was a lovely day and Northside is great for walking around, lunching, etc. So, that was a bit annoying but, the time I brought in my laptop bag whose strap had come off [emergency in my book], he completely accommodated me and made the repair right away. I dropped off two pairs of shoes a while back to replace tips and also to do a little bit of repair on the heels of pumps that had gotten small tears. The wait time was an astonishing 9 days, and when I came back, the heels of one pair weren't repaired. The person repairing my shoes said he thought he had the right color of product he needed to do the job, but when he went to repair my shoes, he realized he didn't have it. So, he just didn't do it, and I didn't learn about this until it was time to pick up the shoes. The work that was done was fine, but I was annoyed to wait so long for a job NOT to be finished. read more

I've taken a pair leather boots to be repaired, guy said it would take a week and that he would call. Never got a call, so I called back a couple days after they were supposed to be done, guy said it was a bit trickier than he thought and be needed a couple more days. It's now been two full weeks to repair the boots and I still haven't heard from him.
