When I reached out to Luan from HI he was very professional, knowledgable, and helpful in providing me with quotes for Auto & Renter's coverage. I immediately could sense over the phone that he would be able to provide me and my husband the service we were looking for. When we finally arrived in WA we went to complete the paperwork at his office and he was just as he was over the phone. Luan was very patient and kind and although he knew I worked in the insurance industry (not personal lines) he still took the time to explain coverages, limits, and any differences in WA versus HI. He was always available when I called with questions after, not only insurance related questions, but places to see and do in WA. Not to mention, his premises is very clean and open. We just purchased a new vehicle so as I was searching for his number to inform his office to update my policy, I stumbled across Yelp and saw his first review in which he was rated 1 star. I was really taken by surprise because the way he was described was definitely not the Luan we met or interacted with which is why I felt the need to finally write a review for him. For me personally, I found Luan to provide top notch service and I don't have any regrets as having him as our State Farm agent. To validate his identity, my dad sent over a copy of his driver's license. They said, "No, he has to show up in person to verify his identity." Does HR Block require you to show up to their business to verify your identity? Does Turbo Tax require you to show up to their business to verify your identity? The answer is simple: NO! You verify your identity with your driver's license or passport and/or SSN and/or address and they will send you your information. Additionally, they decided to inform other people in the family that my dad was trying to access his OWN information. If that's not a violation of his own privacy, then I don't know what is. My dad doesn't have a handler and he is capable enough to handle his own personal information. If I wanted my own information and someone says, "Hold on, I have to tell this other person first before I can give you your information", would you not question them and say to yourself why someone else needs to be notified before you can acquire your own information? DEFINITELY. Furthermore, on a completely different situation, I called them because they were my parents' tax advisors. I called them to ask for clarification regarding tax implications about a specific situation because my parents are older and didn't fully understand what they had been told. So I called to gather further details and confirm if what was told to my parents' was accurate. The gentleman who answered the phone call responded to me in a very rude tone, "I already told your parents this, why are they having you call again? I already told your mom several times, so I don't understand why they keep asking about it?" As a client (now previous client), you would not expect a PROFESSIONAL to speak to you in that harsh and rude tone. But that was my continued negative experience with TBS Bookkeeping and Income Tax. Never again will I have my parents come here to file their taxes with them nor would I EVER recommend them to anyone. Please go find someone or a business that knows how to handle personal information properly and if you request your own information, that they don't go telling other people you're trying to obtain your own information. American Family Insurance My opinions, ratings, are…read moresummarized by saying this is one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I have WAY too many stories to itemize here but I will list several of my examples below. Overall I have found them not to be trustworthy, knowledgeable about their OWN processes, slow to respond, and most of all they set the record for making ridiculous/silly excuses why they cannot do something simple or answer a question. My frustration led to having my wife deal with them towards the end (cancellation) as she had previous years of experience as a licensed insurance agent/broker in a past job. 1. I am a detailed oriented person so I asked and verified the answers to my questions originally in person with the agent. Almost 100% of her answers were wrong leading to many frustrating conversations after the insurance policy went into force. 2. Further frustration came from the flood of excuses for no answers or wrong answers and were exasperated by their "24 hour Customer Service" I was assured of. The majority of time I called several different departments through their 1-800 line I did get a "live" person in a call center (no specific insurance knowledge -just call forwarders) who forwarded me to an "answering machine" in various departments telling me to leave a message and they would try to get back to me sometime Monday thru Friday during their limited working hours. I find this disingenuous and borderline unethical to call this "24 Hour Customer Service". 3. Among the many assurances I was given was that if I paid the whole premium for the year immediately that the price was locked in until the next renewal (insurance companies don't raise rates between renewal periods). I asked numerous times if this was clearly understood between us and it was a big selling point for the agent. Two months later I receive a letter upping my car insurance rates. 4. Another letter informed me on a separate subject that they could not give me their best rate because of my "credit financial information". After MANY frustrating calls demanding specifics (my wife and I make a lot of money, our house is paid off, my 2010 car is paid off, we keep our credit cards paid off and as Credit Karma reports online - our score is "excellent) they finally agreed to tell me the specifics. They called it "insufficient history" (I have a forty year credit history) and explained that if we opened a new credit card account this would count against us and (I love this one) that if we did not show a history of charging to ALL of our credit cards every month it would work against us. I asked both the AMfam company finance person that gave me this information as well as the agent assigned to me if "this did not sound crazy to you, and do YOU charge to all of your cards EVERY month?" I was told of course they did not charge and would not offer an opinion as to how crazy and scam oriented this was (they sounded afraid). 5. Information such as costs and eventually refund information took the agent and other "customer services" personnel many hours or days to get answers to (they would call and get answering machines within their own contact list -is EVERYONE consistently out of the office??). Their competitors that I have dealt with gave immediate answers on the spot. 6. I finally found out my refund and am told I may see it in "weeks" in my past dealings with their competitors (Geico, Progressive, etc) when I made changes or cancelled they just made immediate credits to the credit card I used to pay with. 7. The overwhelming frustration was the number of times I heard from my agent and several other "customer service" American Family Insurance agents that "only the underwriter has that information" or "that's something that is out of my control". Again my wife had to remind the agent that they are our advocate - especially for easy reasonable questions - they are not just there to cash their commission checks. My experience with American Family Insurance was that about 90% of their people were not competent in much of anything other than mastering the art of excuses why they could not do even the simplest tasks. The other 10% tried, but seemed to have their hands tied --- one corporate rep told me concerning the issues I had that "We leave these in the hands of the local agents"- who told me "I can't answer that or take action without the underwriter". This just left us in limbo and VERY DISSATISFIED customers.

I don't know if he had personal issues with the owner or staff, but from my experience being insured with this agency and company have provided me with outstanding customer service, and knowledge of their products. I know for a fact that there are a tons of insurance agencies/agents out there who would do unethical things to customer and not let them know. With that said, I was with State Farm for three years, loyal customer and trusted my agent. Come to find out when my rates started going up I asked my agent, and he just gave me some lame excuse regarding about my policy, stating that I got a ticket a year ago which isn't true because I would know if I did received ticket. I thought I knew and trusted my agent since I had been a customer of his for years, so I decided to look around. Being oblivious and uneducated to how insurance works. I shopped around with three other insurance agencies of different companies,so that I may know the best option for me. To make my long story short, I happened to call "Tara Tran Agency with American Family", never really heard about this company in Washington before, so I call to inquire about the company. When I spoke to the owner of the agency (Tara Tran), she was very helpful, she gave me a brief history of her company and herself. From hearing her and who she was and what her previous employer was, it intrigued me to go stop by her office and speak with her in person. When I met her at her Bellevue office (which is convenient for me) I was surprised to find out how young she looked as an owner. I thought at that point I was already a bit skeptical if she would be able to help me. Nonetheless, I decided to give her a try, and like I said before I was oblivious to how insurance really worked. When I asked her to give me a period of instruction on how a policy works and my what kinds of coverages are needed she was truly helpful in educating me. I was really shocked to see how helpful she was, she explained everything in detail to me, so when it started to make sense I realized that when I was insured with my previous agent, I had coverages that I really didn't need. I was in awe to my lack of knowledge in my policy when insurance is very important and which is a required tool in our lives. She then told me I was free to go around and see what other companies would offer, and that to me was the pivotal moment,in my insurance quest. I was really amazed to how caring, and considerate she was. At that moment I decided to sign with her that day, and she explained every detail with me, and even canceled my previous insurance provider for me. I didn't even need to do a thing except give my approval. Come to find out when I was telling my friends about insuring with her, they Google her online and discover this review. In my defense I told them that review is invalid, that this agency has done nothing, but help me in providing great services and coverages. Tara Tran Agency with American Family Insurance is one of the fewest agencies out in the market who are honest, pride their selves with integrity, and outstanding customer service. In my opinion, what this gentlemen stated in his review is incorrect, but to scrutinize this agency of its demeanor and its integrity is wrong. That is my opinion, I believe a bad review is necessary when a business does the customer wrong, but I don't believe this agency in particular would do something like that to customer at all. She ran a few quotes and was able to provide me with better full coverage (100k Bodily Injury/100k Property Damage/Uninsured 100k & Underinsured Motorist 100k, Personal Injury 10k, Car Rental $60/day, Comp deductible 100 and Collision deductible 500. Overall, this was less premium then my Cali coverage. I was truly happy. She did not rush me or pressure me. Stated that we can run the insurance again at 6 months upon renewal to see if there are other better offers. I highly recommended seeking Dana for all your auto and home and travel needs!!
