We were so excited to have some Mexican food, and this was a big disappointment. There was 4 of us and 3 of us are Spanish people. We ordered chicken tortilla soup and it had no flavor, seemed like it was just warm water with a can of tomato soup. My husband is here working and we decided to go here after church one Sunday some of his coworkers asked if he had tried it and to let them know. We got seated very fast but then we had to wait 30 minutes for someone to come get our order the guacamole was absolutely horrible it's like they made it the day before and but it in the fridge my husband and I both got quesadillas and they were not good my son got the Mexican pizza and fries he wouldn't even touch it. My children and I went in for dinner and we were super excited because we are on vacation and this place was recommended to us. The food was GREAT!! The only problem I had was the server. Instead of her checking we had to ask for things; silverware, refills, silverware, dessert (which we usually decline so I wanted to surprise the kids, it wasn't even offered). She acted bothered by us being there and she didn't smile. I really thought it may be a language barrier as I heard them speaking in Spanish. Well, the food was SO GOOD we decided to go to lunch there the following day, deciding we would just have another server. As soon as we walked in the same lady was standing there, as we were walking, we were about to leave and someone else came to the table to wait on us. Thank goodness! We are vacationing nearby and found ourselves here twice in 4 4 days. The service is fast and friendly, and the food is tasty and filling. Good size portions and the very satisfying. The food here is not that bad! Our entire party enjoyed their dishes (mango fajitas, chicken fajitas, chips/salsa, and cold drinks). Driving up to this place it feels like your typical Mexican restaurant but once you step inside you can tell the owners put in a good effort into decorating. The chairs were hand carved wood with painted images of Mexican cultural icons, I thought it was pretty cool! The reason for three stars was that my favorite Mexican restaurant here in Charleston has some low prices for equally, if not better, food. You are looking at around ~$15 per person for some typical dishes. The beer was ice cold but came in a small mug (does that make me sound like a lush?!). Overall a great joint. read more

Your classic local Mexican food. I rate mine mostly based off the quality of the queso and dips and Ay Jalisco offers a basic white cheese dip with some really nice crunchy tortilla chips. My wife and I visited this restaurant yesterday. Shortly after we arrived, a waitress came to our table with some chips with "queso dip" (cheese dip). We were impressed, because most Mexican restaurants give you complimentary chips and salsa. The waitress told us she was coming right back to take our order. After waiting for a while, Daniel, the bartender/waiter, came to take our order and we told him we needed to see the menu, which he quickly brought. Soon after, we placed our order for drinks and food. While reading the menu, my wife pointed out that the "queso dip" was $5.99 and I told her, well it must be complimentary, because we didn't order it and they can't charge us for that. We didn't even have menus when the waitress brought the "queso dip". The margaritas were watered down and the food was overcooked and poorly seasoned. We love Mexican food, but this was inferior to Taco Bell and I like Taco Bell. When we got our check, I noticed we were being charged $5.99 for the "queso dip". I called Daniel (the bartender/waiter) and I told him we didn't order that and his reply was "but you already ate it". I told him that we assumed that was complimentary, like in most Mexican restaurants, but he refused to take it off the check. I didn't want to argue anymore with him, but when I signed the credit card receipt, it's needless to say, I put "zero" for tip with my written message "NEVER ARGUE WITH A CUSTOMER, BECAUSE THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT" (the old Sears Customer Service motto). I hope that would teach him a lesson is customer service. With lousy drinks, lousy food and the worst customer service, "one star" is too much for this place. read more

MY wife and I have been eating at this sebastian location two times a week for the past five years and have always been treated great by the staff we have always asked for two additional bowles and have never been charged until our visit Jan 2019 the manager was our waitress she was very rude making us wait to order when it was not busy rude while taking our order charging us for extra salsa and charging for lettuce in place of the shell when asked she was very rude we still had to pay for the salsa but not the lettuce . The bathroom hasn't been cleaned in a very long time. The food was terrible and served cold. I'm done with this restaurant.
