To this day, I am still daydreaming about the pastries here. The roll cake is the best I've ever had on Oahu. It was light, airy and the cream inside was perfectly the right amount of sweet and tart. Ayla's located on Manawai St, well known for their Japanese pastries. Staff and management are very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Large showcases stocked full of delectable delights. My personal favorites are their Cream Puffs. They had something new on our last visit, Cupcakes! There were Strawberry, Blueberries, Chocolate Cookie, and one that resembled S'mores. All were delicious but the Blueberries cupcakes stood out as did the Lilikoi cheesecake. Cream puffs, fluffy cheesecakes, and rolls? Yes please. Carbs and sugar are the way to go. My friend and I wanted to check this place out since it's been a lot of attention on social media. We came here on Friday afternoon and unfortunately majority of their items were sold out however they still had their cream puffs. We ordered their matcha, cream, and strawberry cream puffs. We also ordered a mocha roll as well. Size of the pastries are quite big and can be shared to sample. We enjoyed the mocha roll as it had chocolate ganache and a delicious balance with the mocha cream. The cream puffs are okay. Our favorite was the strawberry as the cream reminded up of the Japanese strawberry candy. The puff part was a kind of soggy and dry so good thing there's the cream to help. I previously went back to try their cheesecake. It was just alright. I think I prefer the mocha roll over anything else as that was consistent as the first time. Overall would come back for the mocha cream roll if in the area. There's just something about that cream and chocolate. I do appreciate they warn you about nuts being used in case you're allergic. read more

It looked like most were there to pick up their Mother's Day cake orders (which looked amazing and came in cut cake boxes tied with black ribbon - so elegant.) We ordered one of each flavor: chocolate, vanilla, matcha, and coffee. Each pastry was filled completely with light and airy cream. Lightly sweet and delicious. Each cream puff was $4.50. 1/11/23 I have been meaning to try this place out. Located next to the old Teddy's Burger( in Kapolei...now Gina's) . We wanted to try "everything" but of course with New Year's resolutions planted in the back of my mind(waaaay back), my bff and I shared the Japanese cheesecake and the European cream puff with the custard filling. Light and fluffy, this cheesecake is not super sweet. I loved it and that's saying much because I DO NOT LIKE the more denser and heavier types of cheesecakes. It almost felt as if we hadn't eaten much at all and therefore, in our minds, we weren't hardly eating barely any calories ! I had to try the European cream puff as I had fallen in love with a similar type pastry in France and felt I would NEVER EVER find something as decadent as that chocolate eclair in the states. I was at my sister-in-law's house in Kapolei and we wanted to pick up dinner and dessert. We saw this place on Yelp and was sold! When we came in it wasn't super busy. There was a lot of items left in the display case despite it being close to closing. We got a handful of different items to try. We got a whole plain cheesecake. It was very rich and tasty. We also got an assorted amount of European puffs. The pastry was stale. It tasted old as if it were sitting in the fridge for days. They had different flavors and all the flavors had the same stale taste. While the European puffs were disappointing, the cheesecake was good. However, it would not make me want to come back here or refer it to others. There are definitely other cheesecake places that are better overall. read more

I found this Japanese patisserie in west side! Recipe is from Japan and taste like Japanese patisserie(means not too sweet!) I got Caramel cheese cake, chestnuts roll cake for Halloween. Chestnuts roll cake was so good! I bought it for my co workers(they are all from Japan), they love it. I got custard puffs, chocolate puffs, matcha cheese cake today. Those puffs are like beard papa's. I like soft puffs but the custard was good. The price is reasonable! The puff is $3, cheese cake is $5.5 one whole roll cake is $16. I went there around 11am they just opened so there is no bread and not many items inside. Next time I want to try bread. 4stars because I wanted to try Mont Blanc which is my favorite. Discovered this bakery when searching for a dessert to bring to a dinner party. We didn't want that standard grocery store bakery cake, and found just what we needed here. They have only been open for 2 months and still adding items. The bakery its self is small offering Japanese cheese cakes, cream puffs, Japanese bread and other breads. We purchased 4 different flavors of cheese cakes. Strawberry, their traditional, pineapple and green tea. I have only had two of the flavors and they are yummy. Soufflé cheesecake is all I needed to hear! Ayla's is light and fluffy, with a little tang. I prefer mine a bit more on the sweeter side. There were some beads of cream cheese throughout, but it was smooth for the most. There was not much selection for a Saturday afternoon. Just cheesecake and a couple of cream puffs. Absolutely fantastic! Honestly, had never heard the term "patisserie" before but after a quick google search, decided we had to give it a try. Oh my... We got a whole strawberry shortcake, which my wife said is "the best cake I've ever had". That says a lot! Both of my daughters adored it as well! We were told that the baker is from Tokyo, and as such, her pastries are less sweet. What a welcome change of pace. Ayla's is a Japanese style patisserie in Kapolei- a rare find on the west side! A big perk of the west side is that there is ample parking, making it easy to stop by if you're in the area and have a sudden sweet tooth. The selection is small but everything is light/airy, and not too sweet. You can tell that a lot of time has been put into honing in on their craft. Custard, strawberry and matcha seem to be their resident flavors that you can find in the form of soufflé cheesecakes, european puffs, and rolled cakes. They also have seasonal flavors and last time I went in, they let me know that they were testing more local flavors like guava, ube, etc. The first time I came in was actually right after picking up some friends from the airport that were visiting from the mainland. So, we picked up a few pounds of poke from Foodland and noticed Ayla's Patisserie on the other side of the parking lot. We picked out an assortment of goodies and took it home to share. My favorite would have to be the matcha soufflé cheesecake. It's the definition of light, airy, and not too sweet- the 3 pillars of Japanese baking. I also think that the soufflé cheesecake lasted the best over time (refrigerated). The european puffs have a crunchy exterior and airy filling that is amazing fresh. I would not recommend storing it for too long, as the textures changes over time and can get a bit tuff. And hey, that's on us for over-ordering and then leaving it in the refrigerator for too long. The rolled cakes are really cute and once again, not too sweet. I think that you can't really go wrong ordering anything from here! If you're in the Kapolei area, this is a great spot for Japanese style pastries! The selection isn't large, so you know that everything they offer has been perfected. The high ratings while few indicated this place was new and early indication seems like people are fans. Scrolling through the photos, the cream puffs and cakes seem to be what Ayla will be known for. We walked in and it's a cute little spot in Kapolei. The fridge cases had a selection of roll cakes, cheesecakes and cream puffs. We decided on trying a variety of cream puffs and picked up one of each flavor. The matcha wasn't available at the time so that was a bummer. The cream puffs look better than they tasted. The pasty for the cream puff seemed, soggy? That's the only way I can describe it. I do not want to say it's old, but it just did not have a fresh pastry taste to it which was quite a let down. I did enjoy the filling as Japanese style cream puffs err less on the sweet side. Also, for my nut allergy audience, the cream puff pastry are made with nuts, so be advised! I'm hoping it was just an off day, I want so much to love this place. There were a few bumps in the reopening, not ready to receive customers in a timely manner so I left since I had somewhere else to be and returned another date and time to see my favorites sold out. I've received flyers in the mail, and have seen this place on a news channel being advertised. I had to try it and much to my amazement it was delicious. I ordered the soufflé cheesecake with strawberry jelly on top. It was not too sweet and was perfect. I also had a version of cream puff pastry with chocolate inside, it reminded me of that other bakery in Liliha...haha. But overall it's a small business and local. I try to support local business and try stopby when I can. Lots of ample parking, but hours of operation is not your normal business... they open at 11am. I found Ayla's Patisserie through an ad that arrived in my mailbox & decided to try it out today. I was not disappointed. Their strawberry European puff was made from the heavens. It was light, which was surprising because I thought the custard and strawberry would be too much together but it was very pleasant. I planned to take a bite of it in my car and eat the rest at home, but ended up finishing the whole thing in the Foodland parking lot. It was that good. FOOD POISONING! We came here yesterday late afternoon and later that night I threw up. I ordered the vanilla cream puff and my mom had the yuzu cheesecake. The cream puff tasted okay, definitely too much cream in the middle. The yuzu cheesecake barely had any yuzu flavor in it whatsoever. I got sick and threw up the cream puff about 2 hours after eating it. I don't know if the puff was old or what but I won't be going back here. read more

Super delicious desserts! Tried the yuzu souffle Cheesecake, vanilla cream puff, and mochq cream puff. YUZU souffle Cheesecake had a subtle taste and was overpowering. It was a good balance of dense but light texture not just spongey souffle. The cream puffs were huge! Happy to have a Japanese Bakery on this side of the island! I bought an assortment to try for me and my family. My husband and son said the custard puffs were really good. My mom thought the cheesecake would be lighter but I enjoyed my matcha cheesecake. It wasn't too sweet and the green tea flavor was really pronounced the way I like it. I liked the texture, not too spongy, not too dense and rich. I was kinda disappointed that they didn't have a plain cheesecake though cause that's my favorite, simple. Looked forward to eating at least the same/similar cream puff pastries that were delicious (!) before, but found these oversized pastries at this location that looked like scones- they were large and thick(cream puff pastries usually have a skinnier/lighter skin) with the outer pastry shell itself dry & hard with the inside custard that was also dry and without any delicate velvety cream custard consistency. First, I have to say, service was top notch! Everytime I come here, hoping for find something yummy, the service never disappoints. However, with that being said, unfortunately, the pastries could use a little help. The cream puffs, looked absolutely amazing, just wish they tasted like how they looked. The outer shell was a bit bland and the texture was stale. There was no slight crisp to it, and the internal cream was pretty good, just nothing special. Very light in taste to the point where it didn't stand out. I was almost hoping for a creme brulee type of pudding inside, but it was just whipped cream with a light taste. However, the small cups of strawberry shortcake and blueberry short cake was really nice! My family members loved the blueberry shortcake the best. Ambiance was nice too, so I would recommend coming here, but not everything was a hit. We will do an update when we eat their restaurant food, and not just their bakery. My friend brought the strawberry cheesecake over for a dinner party and it was a hit! It seems like there is strawberry blended in with the cheesecake filling, not just on the top. I've had many strawberry shortcake cakes and this was alright. The cake we got was really grainy and for some reason the bottom of the cake was hard as a rock. The taste of the cake was alright. Not too sweet but didn't really have a taste either. The strawberries weren't sweet or sour either. It was just really bland. The cake was $42. Saw their cream puffs and it looked good but that's what I said about the cake too. I had a big expectations for this place but we will see once I try their cream puffs. read more
