My Chicken Katsu Ramen Combo with fried rice and gyoza.
    Richard D.

One of our favorite bakeries in Kapolei. Wife gets her bread and pastries here, while I get my usual Chicken Katsu Ramen Combo, which includes Fried Rice and Gyoza. Food is always good and service good as well. In terms of ambiance, well, it's just a simple take-out bakery. It's clean and the shelves are stocked.

This place was pretty good and fast. located in the mall, it is easy to pass up as there are so many options. People clearly come here more for the bakery part than the actual restaurant because the food is just average. I liked the options at the bakery area and it is a lot of sweets and treats that are individually wrapped so its easy to just grab and go and shop.

Nagoya Ramen - the establishment is named after this.

This is the 3rd time here and decided to write a review. I ordered the "Nagoya Ramen" which was recommended by the cashier. It came with a side order of chicken katsu and free side order of gyoza (sign outside says "free gyoza 2-5 pm with meal order"). I'm assuming this "Nagoya Ramen" named the same as this establishment is their signature dish. It tasted pretty good with fresh ingredients. Noodles were cooked just right. Chicken Katsu didn't have much meat and it was kind of hard. Wish there was more Katsu sauce too. The gyoza was ok but nothing great. I also got an Azuki Bun from their little bakery and it was interesting. It was intricately made in layers with Azuki spread between its folds. I was expecting more Azuki beans inside but overall it was a satisfying pastry. As far as service, it could have been better. The cashier, who apparently was not articulate in English, was very abrupt in her answers and not very cordial. She gave me the impression of being grumpy and doesn't know how to smile. I guess you can't expect much from a food court in a shopping mall. To her credit, she seemed like a hard worker though. If I'm in the mood for a ramen or pastry while in Ka Makana Ali'i Shopping Center, I might come back.

Small little shop where you can order ramen, curry or any other food on the menu. Also with a with a small bakery. I've always walked passed by this place at the mall but i've tried their bakery items before and it was soooo goood from what I remembered. So this time I went back again. They offer tongs and a tray to place your bread on so you don't touch it with your hands? I suppose even though the bread is wrapped in plastic. I guess for more safety perhaps. I got myself a ham and cheese and hot dog bread as a snack after having lunch. Not sure if I would come back to do takeout, Im more into their bakery items but maybe in the future i'll try out the chicken katsu curry that i've heard some people say is really good.

Was looking for something light/fresh to eat that wouldn't break the bank. Of all the restaurants in this area this one fit that bill the closest. I got the spicy beef ramen. It was a little bit spicier than I usually like, but it wasn't bad. The portion was perfect size with lots of noodles and meat. Once I got used to the spice level I enjoyed it.

    Ugh. Wasted my money.

Tried to order from this small shop, hoping it was better than Panda Express next door. Nope. Sadly disappointed. Worse Chicken Katsu I've ever had. The oil that was used seemed like it was reused multiple times. Chicken and the crust was extremely tough and taste was not good. Threw away more than half of my order. First and last time ordering.

Was here recently to purchase assorted varieties of custards buns. Still in the search for the best ones in Hawaii. Pre-ordered the snow mountain & custard buns (blueberry X on top) varieties today. These two seemed to have the most custard. I like coming here because they speak English and are very polite. Easy peasy pick up and packed nicely in a box. Disclaimer, I have never tried their ramen and only came here for my search for the best custard buns.

Nagoya Ramen & Bakery is great in any weather. I especially love ramen when the weather is bad. Service is quick and the prices are great. You can get ramen with so many different sides and free gyoza with a regular purchase from 2:00-5:00 pm. Cashiers are nice and their bakery treats are delicious. Tons of parking at Ka Makana Ali'i and lots a great covered outdoor seating to enjoy your ramen.

    Mochiko chicken plate w/mac salad.

I'd recommend it for a quick meal at Ka Makana Alii shopping center. Had the mochiko chicken plate and really enjoyed it. The mac salad was tasty and not much mayonnaise. They can be found in the food court at the mall.

my daughter's chicken fried rice had cockaroach in it. I'm a repeat customer since I do love their fried rice but this was bad. I will attach pictures if it allows me to. Just sad!

Whenever I come to Ka Makana Alii my mom has a standing order from this bakery! She and her friends love the coconut bread that is freshly baked here. I tried the taro bread which was ok, not super flavorful. It has mashed taro inside the bun. Almond cookies are my favorite cookie so I had to try their's. They were more like shortbread with a hint of almond. For a shortbread they were good, but I wanted more almond flavor. I also saw a sign for free gyoza between 2-5pm with purchase of an entree so I couldn't resist! Tried the curry fried rice with my gyoza and it was really good!

Hot food, fast service? That's already a win for me and I haven't eaten the food yet. I got the two selection combo. I was expecting a small portion of ramen due to the special price but it was a substantial amount. I was too full with the curry rice and chicken katsu that I couldn't fully enjoy my ramen so I asked for it to go. Even the to go packaging is high quality. 10/10 would recommend this place!

Not too far from the resort that we were staying at. This was located in a mini shopping mall. We were the only ones dining in there at the time. Service was okay, we did take some time to decide. Our waitress kept coming at us; like are you ready yet?! As if we had been there before. But again, this was our first time. Anyhow, I didn't see the lunch combo on the menu. It was something that was taped to the wall at our table. It included an appetizer with the ramen for a reasonable price. We opted for that choice instead. We both had the Tanaka Rich Garlic Ramen (which was very flavorful), one of the appetizers we had was Karaage Chicken (crispy and delicious with the dipping sauce) and the other was Pork Gyoza. Everything was good and filled us up quickly. We will have to try it again another day when we are back on the island.

I have to say the garlic oil miso ramen and the karage don were the stars! The flavor was amazing and the ramen noodles were perfectly chewy and toothful. The karage was crispy and very crunchy! Would totally come again while staying in Kapolei!!

Wagyu? All-you-can-eat? Count me in! As big fans of Shabuya,…read morewe were intrigued at the idea of higher end hot pot at a higher end price. AYCE hot pot just warms the soul in a different way, and adding in some of the richest, fattiest cuts of meat? How can you go wrong! For a two birthday celebration, we called ahead of time to reserve a table for six. I had to call a day before our visit to reduce the head count and they were more than accommodating. When we arrived early, they seated us right away, and came around quite often to take orders. There's a 90 minute time limit, but after 90 minutes our server said oh you have 30 more if you'd like. Top notch service all around. Gyu Masu melds right into the architecture of Hilton Embassy Suites, adopting the contemporary elegance of modern hotel styling. It's very clean and quiet. The AC was a little strong, but I can imagine it would be a refreshing escape from hotter Kapolei nights. The little table got pretty tight with a full shabu shabu setup, so make sure you stack up your empty plates for service. Street parking is pretty easy out front, or find the second floor marked stalls behind the hotel. There were seven cuts of wagyu to try, and you can order four at a time. The cuts are much thicker than other hot pot places, which we loved. Here's what we thought: - Top Sirloin Butt - Had a fat line that tensed up and got noticeably tough compared to other cuts. Decent flavor. - Top Round - My favorite, perfect balance of marbling and flavor. - Short Plate - Thick fat cut that was just way too fatty for us. - Short Rib - Wow, very distinct flavor and great marbling that was an overall favorite. - Outside Skirt - Similar to short plate, so fatty and too rich. - Brisket - Fatty marbled meat, thin and tender. A bit too rich for us. - Chuck Roll - The least fatty and beefiest in flavor. Not my favorite but popular with those that like the beef! We skipped the extra cost cuts, which I'm sure are amazing, but the included meats were plenty rich and decadent. We honed in on a couple favorite cuts and reordered those throughout our meal. You can get up to two broths per pot, and we settled on miso and spicy garlic. They add wagyu tallow for amazing depth of flavor, and be careful with the spicy variants - it's got more kick than most places. Loved the broth here. Also note that they add tofu, bokchoy, cabbage, and mushroom to the broth, so you can skip those in your first round. Gotta say, the nabe ingredients do feel a little lacking compared to other places. "Mixed Mushrooms" were only quartered brown mushrooms - would be nice to have oyster, wood ear, or seafood mushrooms mixed in. Ramen, udon, and rice are staple starch options, but nothing special here like fresh or konjac noodles. Fish and shrimp are awesome options, but I regretted getting even one order of salmon, it was way too much (like a big 6in filet). The cooked kitchen items are also mostly a trap. Be very careful about what you order, it's probably better to focus on the shabu wagyu for value. We had a couple of good items but were disappointed in others. - Wagyu Pupu Steak - DELISH. Not the most tender, but absolutely popping with flavor and garnished with zesty green onions. - Fried Shrimp Dumplings - Brah these shumai have big, juicy shrimp pieces and are fried til the wrappers are nice and crispy. Recommend. - Ahi Poke - Previously frozen and stringy. The sauce was good, but the icy, low quality fish was not. - Lemon Ginger Opakapaka - Dry, hard, severely overcooked. The seasoning has a strong artificial flavor. Skip this one. You also get a free soft drink, which includes a variety of lemonade/limeade mixes. The limeades were very sour, and we had lilikoi, strawberry, and li hing flavors. Wonderful perk. They also brought out slices of Japanese Style Souffle Cheesecake, two since we had two birthdays! Very light and fluffy texture with a rich and smooth cheesecake flavor, enhanced by a honey sauce that is brighter and sweeter than most. Very generous, as these are normally $5.50 per slice, but we would absolutely pay full price to get these again. At $65 per person, it's a great deal, considering how many different wagyu cuts we got to try, and how many extra side options they have. It's an indulgent experience that is hard to treat like traditional hot pot, as the meat is exquisitely rich and hard to eat mountains of. I can't see it being a regular dining choice, but it's absolutely a worthwhile journey for special celebrations, or simply exploring high-end dishes at an affordable price.
