Chicken Kottu Rotti. Truly a feast.
    Gabriela R.

Made the trek from SF to the Alameda Antique Fair (not my jam), paid admission, just to finally try the first Sri Lankan food truck in the Bay. I had the chicken kottu rotti, and dammit, it was so worth it. Flaky roti, hella veggies, tender chicken, yogurt drizzled all over that thang. The passion fruit beverage I got to pair this with. Perfection. Everything was freshly made, my taste buds delighted, all while we saw the Sri Lankan flag waving in the wind. My daughter exclaimed, "The lion means brave!" And that, that made the trek worth it. All of it. I'd do it 20 times over. What a gift this food truck is. My husband, who was born in Columbo (yep, he loved the food) chatted with Sam, one of the owners and they connected immediately. Sam was so generous and kind. We ordered 6 dishes to go. Yep, we loved it that much. You've never had anything like it, try it, your mauf will thank you.

Ayubowan is a great choice for anyone! A great staff with equally great ingredients. The flavors are extremely savory, similar to that of mainland Indian cuisine. If you like indian food you will like Ayubowan. The menu isn't too large which can be a good sign, fewer selections mean that each dish that is available is something they can make really well, it also makes it much easier to make a decision which can be a tough decision when you like too much. I asked the staff to surprise me and they did just that. I loved my dish and couldn't have had a better experience, so glad I decided to go with then instead of a burrito. Give this truck a try and remember to always feel free to ask the staff questions and answer uncertainties, these guys are so awesome I'm sure they can accommodate whatever you might need.

Delicious and Authentic Sri-Lankan Food. Not Very Spicy but full of right amount of spicy and flavorful food. Ordered kottu roti and rice, both was on the spot.

We found out about Ayubowan when the truck visited the Chabot museum. Wonderful service and amazing food, oh a very generous portions! But warning: food is a bit spicy.

Situated on a quiet corner in SOMA, and with a modest facade, you would never expect such a gem to be hidden inside. The restaurant is decorated beautifully with thoughtful art and lighting and perfect for intimate settings. Yulia and Brian make the most remarkable team. Their knowledge and passion for food shines not only in presentation, but also in taste! You can tell the menu is carefully curated. I love that there is a list of local vendors and what is sourced from them on the menu! And you can taste the freshness of the food! As someone who does not enjoy smoked salmon or salmon roe, i could eat their version every day! The combo of sweet, smoky, and salty was euphoric! The chicken curry, hopper, sambal, and coconut were perfect in any combination! And the potatoes are my most favorite that I've ever had anywhere! The short rib was literally fall off the bone! We didn't need a knife to cut it apart. It was so rich and succulent. And each side was perfectly thought out. From the perfectly crispy cauliflower, to the refreshing pickles, and the most perfect kale salad. I love that each course had so many different ways that it could be enjoyed. So many flavor and texture combinations! The strawberry granita with dessert was so refreshing and worked so beautifully with the white chocolate and passion fruit dome. And who doesn't love a good Madeline?! I will definitely be going back! It's one of those meals that makes you never want to eat any other food again! Our meal will forever be one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

I'll admit, I was skeptical at first, but one bite in and my mind was completely blown. The puri itself was incredible, perfectly crisp and packed with flavor, and the rasam pani was so addictive I could have easily eaten 20 more. Next came the Shrimp Vennai Roast, which was juicy, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. Every ingredient on the plate felt intentional and contributed something special. Nothing was there just for decoration, everything belonged. The Thattukada Chicken was probably my favorite dish of the night. The combination of fresh coconut, crispy textures, and fragrant curry leaves was outstanding. Every bite had so much character and depth. For our entrée, we shared the Black Cod, and wow. The fish was cooked perfectly, tender, flaky, and rich without being heavy. But honestly, one of the highlights of the entire meal was the thoran served alongside it. The fresh coconut and vegetables were so good that we cleaned the plate. To finish, we ordered the Watalappan, Copra's take on flan. It was delicious, silky, flavorful, and the perfect ending to the meal. Next time, I'll be trying the God's Own Coconut variation. And I can't write this review without mentioning the cocktails. The Clarified Lassi Punch was hands down one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. If the name makes you skeptical, I get it, I was too. But trust me, don't judge it until you've tried it. Beyond the food, the decor is beautiful, the service is warm and attentive, and the entire restaurant feels welcoming from the moment you walk in. Copra delivers not only exceptional food but a complete dining experience. I'll definitely be back.

WHAT AYCE Indian food from northern and southern India: chicken, fish, lamb, vegan, appetizers, desserts (plural!). Delicious! We tried stuff that we might never order in a regular Indian restaurant. COST $25 weekdays $28 weekends is VERY REASONABLE to me for a place that has no limit on what you can consume. We went on a Friday night, no time limit for us, but if they are super crowded I can see how they might put a time limit. FOOD 10/10 I wish I took a picture of the buffet line but I didn't want to be weird. There were so many choices, and several dessert items too, including soft serve ice cream, this place is a gem. Friday afternoon is apparently considered a weekend buffet even though there are many business's around for a quick biz lunch. So we were charged the 'weekend buffet' pricing per person. Around $28. The buffet is on the massive side. Northern, Southern and probably a couple other regions of Indian food. It's rare I get a Indian buffet with so many options. Was happy sambar was available, medu vada, idli's. But also tried out some dishes never heard of. Upon seating we were brought both naan and dosa. Coconut and tamarind chutney was a nice surprise also. Chicken option and fish were done well. I can't remember exactly what recipe as tried a lil taste of many, but the point is they cook their meat and fish well with great flavor balance. There were a handful of goat options also. Never had a chickpea salad like they offered nor bitter gourd pickle! Loved that chickpea salad. As for the bitter gourd pickle, it was a good pickle recipe but if familiar with bitter gourd, it was 'unique'. Too full for dessert but it does exist. It's on the keeper list.

It had our mouths watering and if we hadn't had a reservation in another spot, we probably would've changed plans to come to this place. We were supposed to do a date night here but those plans got squashed with a sick child so we ended up ordering takeout. We ordered the Indian salad, veggie korma, fish curry, mint chicken, and chicken vindaloo. I had a high hopes for this place based solely on the smell from when we passed it the first time. Unfortunately those hopes fell short. The food was OK. But really flavor just not what I was expecting. I would say the fish curry was probably the worst, it was really salty and just flavor wise not the best. Expected the chicken to come with extra mint and it looked really dry and it was OK but again I expected a bit more flavor. Chicken was probably the best dish along with the veggie korma. The naan was OK but the wheat was really dry and just not what I expect naan to be. We did also place an order for mimosas and the mimosas came however they usually come with two types of sauces and those did not come. The salad was OK but I wasn't a fan of the dressing. I thought the dressing was gonna be oil based and it's was not.

But since then and nowadays they have tougher competition that I prefer to go to over them and recently started to develop a hate and love relationship here. It used to be my die hard go to taco truck. This truck for me makes delicious carnitas burritos and pollo tacos. And a sleeper is the al pastor burrito and suadero tacos. That al pastor isn't made from the trompo but the seasoning and juiciness of their version in the burrito is what makes it one of the best burrito options on there if you haven't tried it. Carnitas burritos is super delicious because you get that nice crispiness of the fried tender pork with the rice, cheese and sour cream. I like to ask for onions, cilantro and tomato in mines for variety and freshness to cut the heaviness of the fats and dairy. Tacos I normally would get or recommend is the Carnitas, Pollo, Cabeza, Suadero, and Asada. Carnitas are as delicious as explained with the burrito. Pollo or known as chicken tacos are super tender and juicy. It's also very flavorful, and one of my favorite chicken tacos to get here because most places don't make chicken very well and are usually very dry. The cabeza is super tender and a great option. Suadero just like the asada is just a better version of the asada cut. It's packed with more flavor and seasoning than the asada and slightly more tender which is why I prefer it to the regular steak. I tend to find the asada more dry and sometimes tough. Recently the pricing doesn't reflect on the fairness of the portion size. $4 tacos but the meats aren't as packed. Felt like they started to skimp because of rising costs but has been happening before then. $15 burrito but the sizing isn't as filling as it used to be. I started to see more rice than meat. They've also started to be very stingy with a huge attitude especially the gentleman that works on the pick up station when asking for extra pickled veggies, limes and salsa. And it happens every time for the past several years now. For example he gave me 2 limes, 4 pieces of sliced pickled carrots, 2 slices of pickled jalapenos, 3 radishes, and 1 rojo salsa for an order of a super burrito and 7 tacos. When I asked for extras the gentleman gave me an attitude and said he already did and won't give more. Only reason I still go here is because it's close to home and if my favorite spots for tacos are closed for the night.
