I think the food is different than what I am used to but in a good way, good variety! I am an adventurous eater so honestly, I don't even know what items came in the plate I ordered. I ordered a chicken platter/dish. It came with some rice and some sides. As for the sides, one of the sides definitely had a kick, it was spicy! I also received some "chips" on the side. Not sure what it was made out of but not the typical tortilla chips, it tasted different. I am also not sure if this is supposed to be eaten with the curry-like side or not but that's what I did. I mixed a lot of the sides together with the chicken. I enjoyed the dish quite a bit. I like the different and unique flavors, definitely very flavorful. Definitely, very good service, very nice and helpful. I felt like this food truck took longer than the other food trucks but I feel like the food here is more involved but it isn't significantly longer. Overall, good experience with the food and happy I got to try it!

Fish and Chips $15: You get 4 medium sized pieces, and I'd say a McDonald's small size of fries. So, decent amount but not particularly little or large. The fish thought I couldn't tell was raw or not. It tasted stiff so seemed cooked but the flesh was translucent, so by color it appears raw. Has the texture of recently frozen and defrosted meat. The surface was nicely crisp but there was more raw dough than cooked underneath. Overall fish wasn't great. Fries were good, and seasoned with some Indian seasoning. There was a hot sauce made from ground chili which was good. The Indian yellow sauce was far too watery. 3/10 2. Coconut juice $4: It was a 17oz can. I'd pass next time. Oh, and they were pretty slow. 20min to order. 15min to cook = 35min to get food. 2/5 #santaclara #indianfoodtruck #foodtruck #indianfood #indianfish #indiancuisine

The food was really good, too! We started with the chutney palette and an assortment of papads, which was perfect. We also had the podi goli vadai, and it was delicious. My absolute favorite of the night, though, was the Thayir Vadai Chaat. I've always been a fan of Dahi Vada, but I had never tried the South Indian version before and I realized I was missing out! Others at our table ordered non-vegetarian dishes, and they loved their food as well. We will definitely be coming back! Also I need to add that drinks are good too! My husband tried clarified Lassi and totally loved it.

We got the White Amrit (non alcoholic), clarified lassi punch, and from the ground up. The drinks were pretty average. For starters we got the oysters, sweet corn soup, chutney palette and thayir vadai chaat. The oysters with sauce were delicious, there was generous serving of papadams with tasty chutneys and the chaat and soup were average. For mains we ordered the vegetable of the day and a seasonal shrimp egg appam. The vegetables were in generous proportions and the appam was good. They served us a complimentary sorbet with a candle when we mentioned we were celebrating a birthday, which was a nice touch! We ordered the watalappan and loved it, it was enough to split among 4 people. Overall it's a good place to celebrate occasions but not ideal if a quiete, more intimate environment is desired. The food is good and has a unique South Indian influence.

The ambience is average and service is average too. We had to ask for glasses for water, also needed to ask to refill the water. When we had finished with appetizer, in general the server will remove from table what you are done with - but here it just felt like plates are accumulating. No one to take away that. If the restaurant is busy I can understand that but when we ate - we were practically the only one there. So it wasn't the manpower problem - it is just a service problem. Coming to food. Pomfret was super good. Really well done. Briyani was a meh - I don't feel Bay Area has best briyani's anyways. I have had better Briyani in places like Seattle, Raleigh and Phoenix. The chicken 65 in Briyani though was pretty good - the typical Chennai style chicken 65 dyed with food colors . It was super nice of them to prepare filter coffee for us although it wasn't in the menu. Coffee was decent. The veg thali was also about okay. I didn't tried it but my friend did and that was his review. Their special goat briyani was decent at best - I was hyped up about it but to me.it didn't live up to the expectations.

Service (3/5): I ordered at the cashier counter, and the guy gave me a number tag to place on my table. It was mostly self-service, I got my own water, hot milk tea, and utensils from the front station. Nothing special to mention about the service. 3. Food (3/5): - Chicken Biryani (2/5): This was my first time trying this dish. Personally, it lacked flavor, the rice was quite plain and there wasn't much chicken either. For $17, the portion felt small. The Indian spices had a strong aroma, but the overall taste was pretty bland. - Mango Lassi (4/5): I liked the mango flavor, it smelled good and wasn't too sweet. I was the newbie here and my friend has frequented this place a lot so I leaned on him for recommendations. In short, this is comfort food full of flavor though it might take a little time to get your food, it's all made fresh! L O C A T I O N Off of El Camino Real (I know that's not really descriptive as El Camino is VERY long) and Lawrence Expressway (now we're getting closer), in a shopping area with a Big Lots and 24 Hour Fitness. The plaza is called Lawrence Expressway Plaza. Lots of parking so easy to find one near the entrance. I N S I D E Fairly cozy with booths to sit in. There's also a few outdoor tables for seating if you'd want to eat al fresco. They have a water and tea station which is nice as well as serve your own plates and utensils. M E N U Fairly extensive with Tandoori dishes, curries, vegetarian faire, biryanis, naans, wraps...my head was dizzy from all the choices. But I went with the recommended Bangen Bhartha, Chicken Biryani, and a plain naan. ~ Bangen Bhartha ~ The description: a unique blend of eggplant, tomatoes, onions, cream and spices. And indeed it was. You can taste that they grilled the veggies which reminded me of a Filipino grilled eggplant dish. I love a good grilled eggplant and this went great with the plain naan we had. ~ Chicken Biryani ~ The description: Tender pieces of chicken cooked with basmati rice and spice flavoured sauce garnished with raita. That raita though....man I saved what I had after I finished that dish and used it on other food I had in the house. I love a yogurt sauce. It also complimented well with the chicken biryani. Again full of flavor but beware of stray chicken bones and hard pieces when chewing the rice. It is a bone in chicken that they cook which helps with the flavor of the dish not so much for your teeth. Also complimented well with the bangen bhartha. ~ Plain Naan ~ The naan was plain and I had to have the plain one as much as I'd love the garlic one as I do have garlic sensitivities. But it was crisp, chewy, sizeable and complimented our eggplant dish well. S E R V I C E Basically you order at the front, they give you a number. You sit down, they bring you the food, you get all your utensils and plates and drinks. Very bare bones in terms of service but kind of what I expected. Food did take some time but again I think that's due to them freshly cooking everything which can take some time. Then afterwards, you bring up your number and pay. Easily paid by credit card. O V E R A L L It was delicious. I would definitely come back to get everything I had again but I would probably venture into their tandooris or wraps to try it out. The menu's very extensive so grab a friend or two to be able to try out more stuff!

We tried the lamb and coconut chicken curries and the meats were so tender and full of amazing flavor! The chickpea curry was equally flavorful. Tanvir knows his spices and was able to accommodate our group for allergens and kept the spiciness of each dish reasonable for a wide variety of palettes (including teens and younger kids) without sacrificing flavor. We rounded the meal out with a Greek salad & roti that we could easily heat up ourselves. Our guests were very impressed with the food and wanted to learn where they could order for the future. The portions were generous and we had plenty of leftovers to send our guests home with a meal for the next day. I had checked another restaurant to try but their base spice is "Medium". Didn't want to risk it for myself & my SIL. Schubert was our waiter & my brother recognized him from the last time. He was really helpful & informative if we had a question about ingredients, preparation & spice level. We started off with Pani Purri & this time had a yogurt sauce & spicy tamarind sauce. I ordered a really tasty Chaar Mirch Chicken Curry--turmeric/yellow-brown curry w/dark meat, 4-chili melange so med-spice & it was very authentic! We were all saying "Mmmmmmm!!" Schubert mentioned that the raita would temper down the heat and it caused us to sweat, LOL! Oh that turmeric & Indian spice! Wasn't unbearable & a medium spice level. The soft, fluffy, warm Mushroom Parm Naan was yummy & we also ordered a Garlic Naan; Lamb Biryani wasn't gamey & not as spicy as last time. The Butter Chicken was a deeper red vs. creamy red. My brother ordered a couple of drinks but I didn't because it was a hot afternoon & just wanted ice water. Everything was great & I had leftovers to eat the next day. There's a Thaali lunch which is similar to AYCE M-Fri. Schubert described it Toni's as I saw it advertised.Would like to try that if I'm in the area.
