However, I went through all the hassle of installing it and to my surprise the alternator they sold me was bad. I had to remove the alternator all over again! I was then told that if the alternator was "good" they couldn't refund me my money. Thankfully I took it back to them and they acknowledged it was bad and gave me a refund. They couldn't care less! I gave AZ's a call after being quoted $950-$1000 over the phone by Pep Boys to fix my alternator. I don't know cars, but even then I thought they (pep boys) were out of their mind. Right off the bat Ernie quoted me at a far far more reasonable price. He was very nice and told me to bring the car in the next morning. The next morning I showed up 15-20 min before opening and instead of making me wait until the actual opening time, Cesar gladly welcomed me and took a look at my car. He ran all the tests to make sure that it was the alternator and turns out it was just a bad battery. I really appreciated the fact that he took the time to show me how to test for the alternator next time something like this happens. So once he figured out the problem, he changed the battery and I was on my way! Picked up a rebuilt alternator and starter for a '94 Mazda Miata here. The alternator is working flawlessly, but the starter failed nearly immediately. Believe it or not the starter turned on while driving under hard braking... by itself. Some kind of wacko internal short caused the starter to spin without engaging the flywheel. Once started it wouldn't turn off. Not a fun experience... basically stranded me and required changing immediately. Miata starters are not easy to get to. I called the shop and they insisted it was my ignition switch. I'm no expert... but my Ignition switch had never given me problems. That wouldn't cause a starter motor to turn on like this one did. I got an OEM starter and the problem is completely fixed. Not coming back here. read more

I called yesterday and spoke to CLAUDIO. I explained what was going on with my car, how it wouldn't keep a charge. This place saved me from spending $600. I thought I needed a new alternator and I went to my regular mechanic and they were going to charge me $600. I did some research and found this place that would give me and alternator for less than $300 including labor. When I went there the guy opened my hood just from listening to the sound my car was making made told me that he doesn't think I need a new alternator and he was right. The thing that was wrong with my car was my water pump. In the end I paid $250 total for parts and labor. He saved me from spending $600 on a part that I didn't need. Well it only gets better. Yesterday one of our forklifts started smoking, a quick look indicated alternator issues. Got to Fontana alternator at 5 pm they did not have it in stock but offered to bring it in first thing tomorrow morning. Heres where it actually gets better........When I told them it was stranded in the center of one of our warehouses the owner told me its a common alternator, he actually wrote the part number and sent me to autozone. Rebuilt starter lasted 5 months. 1 year warranty went to claim they closed early. Supposed to be open 8am to 7pm. Very inconvenient when you rush home to take the part out of your kids daily driver so he make it to school and they decide to leave early.
