Khoi was our server and he was fantastic. He got us drinks and a complimentary appetizers while we wait for our food. He was present and made sure we were taken care of. I missed ordering miso so I asked if I could get one and bring it out with the sushi. I got exactly what I asked. Very attentive. Great staff. Our table ordered: cherry blossom kenji aza tonkotsu ramen shrimp tempura sushi and roll combo beef teriyaki bento orange chicken We didn't wait very long at all. Delicious! Big portion and the sashimi slices are thick compared to other sushi restaurants. Sashimi's fresh, didnt need to use soysauce at all. They have sushi that actually has flavor! Ambiance - it's not the largest restaurant but it probably feels that way because it was packed. They definitely have a stream of customers coming in. It's decorated with a modern black and wood interior design that feels nice. Service - this place has the nicest workers! We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of interacting with the sushi chefs. The chefs clearly set a high standard for service that is felt through the warm, welcoming hostess, the efficiency of the servers and the quality of their food. The chefs themselves were very kind and had a sense of humor, Food - the two specialty rolls we got were the Kenji and King of the Jungle. They were delightfully massive and delicious. The salmon tasted fresh and sauces balanced out the rolls well. We got an appetizer of California cut rolls, which were creamy with fresh-tasting avocado. For a "vanilla" dish that's the base of many of their special rolls, the quality was great. We also order the baked mussels which came at the end. They warned us that that would take awhile, joking that they were fishing them straight from the lake for us haha, but we didn't mind. They came fresh out of the oven and were beautifully rich and balanced well with the crunchiness of the garnish beneath the shell. The staff very generously gave us complimentary chicken katsu and deep fried green tea ice cream! We were so surprised! Even these complimentary dishes were delicious and thoughtfully presented. We've never had a bad experience all the 5-7 times we've been here. The quality of food is always superb and the service is always excellent. We are always greeted when we walk through the door. I love how they play some sort of anime in the TV's and old school Japanese music. It's a great vibe. My favorite dishes are the vegetable curry and the orange chicken. The mixed tempura is also really good because the batter tastes really fresh and well balanced. First, the ratio of fish to rice was the best I've ever experienced. Big pieces of fish and just a small bite full of rice. The fish was so yummy, a special shoutout to the salmon nigiri. The service was quick and easy! Ambiance was casual which I appreciated and I felt comfortable eating here alone.
