All I can say about my recent visit is WOW! We were so very impressed by this AYCE experience. When comparing it to other AYCE Sushi type places my family frequents, this has become our favorite. Their selection of appetizers were great, and the quality of each was stellar. We attempted to try quite a few of them, and still have many we want to try. In our group, the tofu with an amazing dashi broth, the crab puffs, "sexy jalepenos", tempura kani, and the gyoza were the standouts. As I stated, though...everything we had was awesome. We all ordered a different ramen, and then shared. They were all phenomenal. The steak teriyaki was also great. Sushi wise, we didn't get to try as many as we had hoped. We were too busy reordering the appetizers. We did try the Crazy Mango roll, and ended up reordering that because it was so good. My kids were with me, and they love all things Mango, and this was phenomenal. For dessert, we had a few orders (and reorders!) of the fried bananas. Overall, I cannot speak higher of our experience. It is very clean, well kept up on, and the service was phenomenal. Quality wise, you can tell how much effort they put into the place purely on their presentation. I had to remark many times about how utterly beautiful some of their dishes were. This was not like our other AYCE experiences where they just rush food out to you. I've been to KuJiRa once for a date night and have also ordered takeout for pickup a couple of times. Overall, it's been a dependable lunch option for me. My usual order is the chicken katsu bento box, which comes with a good portion of crunchy sliced chicken katsu, rice, two dumplings, a California roll, and miso soup. It feels like a solid, filling meal with enough variety to make it satisfying. The only downside with my most recent takeout order was the sauce placed in the middle of the container. I'm not sure exactly what it was, and after tasting it, it wasn't really for me. Because of the layout of the takeout container, some of it spilled into the rice and rolls. Next time, I'd probably ask for that sauce on the side in a separate container. read more

One of my favorite all you can eat sushi spots I've been to! They have such a large variety of appetizers, onigiri, sushi rolls, desserts, and tempura. I highly recommend trying some of the specialty rolls! The lobster salad on top of the Kujira Roll was awesome! The restaurant is tucked downstairs on Walnut street with easy parking in a paid lot across the street. Street parking is available too! All the waiters were very nice and came by the table often to take our orders. I loved the place settings. Great for a date night or a night out with friends. read more

I haven't had all-you-can-eat sushi in a long time, but I had a great experience here! For around 33 bucks each, we (a group of five guys) indulged to our hearts' content. I was also pleasantly surprised to see the deal included nigiri, appetizers, and dessert. Our waitress was kind and patient, as we were five guys who had trouble putting in our orders. The sushi was also of good quality, especially since Pittsburgh is inland. I enjoyed the spicy yellowtail nigiri, eel nigiri, and shrimp tempura roll. All in all, it was an excellent experience! There are 2 options for AYCE: Pacific Experience $27.99 and Tokyo Experience $37.99 (with more premium dishes to choose from) (they have kids discounted price as well) We were not very hungry and my friend was not planning to eat, so I ordered off of the a la carte price instead of going for the AYCE. Overall, food was good, I really like agedashi tofu, silky smooth tofu piece lightly battered and deep fried, served with a slightly sweet soy sauce. negimaki which was the wagyu wraps around scallion, was quite underwhelming it tastes more like generic beef served with teriyaki sauce, I would order it again if I go for the AYCE. Kombu shiitake dashi broth was bland, so I would not recommend ordering it. What I have to warn you though, is that the service was surprisingly slow, despite 4-5 staffs behind the sushi bar and there were only 3-4 small tables inside. read more

My mom and I came here for her birthday and, overall, we enjoyed it! You really can't beat an all you can eat menu for the prices they offer. There's a pretty extensive drink menu with beer, wine, cocktails, and sake. The service was pretty good even though it seemed like there was only 1 server taking care of every table. As for the sushi, some items were better or seemed fresher than others. We both loved the spicy tuna roll, I wish I had ordered a second one! The rainbow roll was also great. Our least favorite was the Fire Island roll. My mom loves spicy food and even she thought it was a little too spicy to really enjoy. The menu also said there was "crunchy spicy salmon" inside but it was pretty mushy. I got charged for a buffet for my 2 year old but all he ate was one bite of a shrimp tempura, he didnt like it and just watched his cartoons the rest of the time because he was not hungry. Previously have had good experiences, this past visit was terrible with 40+ minute waits for orders, waiter not checking back in for re-orders, etc. we were there for 2+ hours and got 2 rounds of "all you can eat sushi" -literally the rolls were devoured in minutes of arriving because we had a table full of hungry kids and young adults. worse they were "too busy" for a manager to talk to us about our bad experience and when I went email them directly and the email on their website does not work and bounced back (confirmed it was sent to the correct address listed), but they had the audacity to send an email to me about how much they value good customer experiences, but can't be bothered to hear any feedback. read more

I was able to attend a yelp elite event here for unlimted sushi and let me say... it did not disappoint! I am excited to see a new Japanese sushi restaurant opening in Pittsburgh. My wife and I stopped here for lunch on a weekend. I ordered a sushi sampler platter which included a variety of fish. It all tasted pretty fresh and I enjoyed all of the pieces. We also ordered a tempura appetizer to share which was tasty and reminded us of the tempura that we had in Japan. Our sever was polite and attentive. Food was brought out within 10 minutes of ordering. They were not very busy at the time, so we had our pick of tables. The miso soup was the best I had ever had, it was obvious that they don't just throw miso paste into hot water. Excellent work there. The sushi bar appetizers were very good as well! The hot food appetizers were pretty good, however the Beef Negimaki was quite flavorless. Speaking of flavorless, that brings us to the sushi. Outside of anything that was drenched in sauce, the low-quality fish and what seemed to be unseasoned sushi rice did not cut it. The nigiri wasn't anything to write home about, and the rolls were very flaccid. Overall, everything outside of the sushi was very pleasant. The ambiance of the restaurant was really great! Well, my major point in this review is the lack of ADA accessibilities. I could've sworn it was a law that you had to have ADA accessibilities, but this place does not my elderly mother who is in a walker had to walk up and down stairs, which was very hard to do. I had to help her into the bathroom as well as there is no ADA bathroom and the stalls are quite small. so if you have anybody that has any type of mobility issues, I would not recommend this place just from that. Now onto the food it was about subpar. But regarding the menu, the whole entire table has to either get à la carte or the all you can eat since two people. My party did not want all you can eat. We all opted for à la carte however, there are no prices on the menu for à la carte sushi. Service was slow and we had to flag the server down to take our order . If you love the pure fun of AYCE sushi, you'll enjoy the kind staff and fun decor. However, after eating from the restaurant's Tokyo Experience, I was left a little unsatisfied. You're unable to order more than 1 order of each item from the section of sashimi. When I ordered nigiri pieces after running out of the sashimi options, the fish was sliced as thin as possible with a pretty non-proportionate amount of rice. Some of our items took awhile to get to our table. I enjoyed the fresh Yellowtail sashimi the most at this restaurant! However I don't recommend the mackerel. Some fish were hit or miss, with the salmon lacking in flavor. Even so, i think the purpose of all you can eat sushi is about the fun variety and spirit of eating rather than the quality. Therefore, I had a really great time exploring what the menu had to offer and ordering copious amounts of dessert. I stayed for hours and made sure to tip our waitress for her troubles. Had a great time trying out KuJiRa on a Saturday afternoon! Once we were seated we were given warm towels to clean our hands which was a nice touch. There were so many options of food to try, even appetizers and desserts with the basic pacific experience all you can eat menu we ordered. The crispy roll was my favorite. Since they just opened they are working on their liquor license and didn't have alcohol yet. But there was no wait for the table and the food came out quickly which was great! This is the best all you can eat sushi spot in the city and the best I have ever experienced. I'm a large man with a large appetite. I eat 8-10 rolls of sushi every time I have it. I have to go to all you ant eat so I don't destroy my wallet This has been the greatest addition to the sushi game in Pittsburgh. Now since first opening they have changed their menu and taken some rolls up and upped the prices a tad. I don't blame them, I wasn't even sure how they were turning over r profit at first but god I loved it. It's still solid now just a few less rolls It's a good date spot and if it's a group you have to all pay for the same exact menu you're ordering from regardless of who gets what Every waiter/waitress I've had has been very nice and attentive to us. I'm so thrilled that the city finally has its own AYCE of decent quality. This replaced the old Yard in Shadyside. If you're looking to AYCE sushi, this is the place to go. Staff were friendly and they offer you a warm towel to clean your hands. That caught me off guard cause it's not something I would find here. My friends and I decided to try their Tokyo experience and ordered almost table full of food. Needless to say, we make sure we did not waste any food. I was really excited to try a newer local concept of all you can eat sit down endless sushi and apps. I frequent sushi bomb in robinson and mr Tokyo greensburg/asahi Washington every few months. I wanted to love it but left feeling sadly underwhelmed. I rarely use soy sauce but the sushi was especially bland. Needed to use soy sauce for what seemingly lacked any salt. The appetizer bites were unique but were also underseasoned. I enjoyed the menu choices and the tiered pricing makes sense. I'd try again in a few months but mid point between here and sushi bomb robinson, I'd stick there for the rolls and slightly cheaper price point. WOW we were so pleasantly surprised with this new sushi spot in shadyside! Located in the old yard location, this all you can eat sushi bar changes the game for all you can eat sushi in Pittsburgh. They are more expensive than others, but worth it due to the quality. None of the fish smelled or tasted fishy, so good!! We tried just the pacific option, but the flavor was so good I will get the Tokyo option with sashimi next time! We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated right away. All of the food and sushi we had was great. We particularly loved the salmon tartare appetizer, and all of the rolls. Their tempura appetizers were also very good and I loved the miso soup. The sushi chefs can get a little backed up depending on how busy they are so keep that in mind for timing sake. The crispy tuna appetizer didn't come on a fried rice like normal crispy tuna rolls but instead came on a crisp. It was still very good. They didn't have any sugar or sweetener for the tea yet (perhaps because they just opened two weeks ago so I hope they get some for the future) but that is the only very small critique I have.
