The security guard at this location was completely out of line and on a major power trip. My husband and I visited with another couple, and the interaction started almost immediately when we got off the elevator. If you've been here, you know the elevator opens into a very small entry space before you even fully enter the bar. Before I had even stepped off the elevator, the security guard was aggressively grabbing my friend's husband to check his ID. For context, we are all in our mid to late 40s and clearly not under 21. My friend's husband had just noticed a friend at the bar and walked over to say hello and give them a quick hug. That's when the security guard grabbed and pulled him in a very aggressive manner. When my husband calmly stepped in and said that the grabbing was unnecessary, the guard escalated the situation further. He became confrontational and even told my husband he could come back at 1:30 when he got off work if he wanted to "handle it." This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. As a Livermore resident, I will not support an establishment that allows their employees,especially security staff,to treat customers this way. Walk-in for 2 on a Saturday night and got seated at a booth right away, they said all the outside seats were reserved. Which was fine since it ended up being super windy. Tried the jamaiquita spritz and it was okay, a bit too fruity for my preference. Much preferred my friend's paper plane. Had the fried chicken sandwich and it was gigantic, came out on basically a small baguette. Fried chicken was very tasty though I think could have used some pickles. Came on a Saturday night with a reservation for a semi large group around 7 o'clock. The place was not too busy yet. However it could easily get to that point giving the environment allowing for outdoor fun on a terrace that overlooks downtown Livermore from the third floor and a lively inside, enclosed space with good music. There's open bar seating, which is great if you're there for a small party and just a cocktail and honestly that's probably what I'd recommend at most. I wouldn't say the service was bad but it was highly disorganized. For example, just having simple request such as getting heaters turned on during a windy afternoon took about 15 to 20 minutes and multiple request to multiple waiters and seemingly no one have any ability to do it so there may be more training for the staff needed to accommodate simple request like this. The ordertaking was a little disjointed in the sense of half of our group got their order taken, but the other half was not greeted by the server and multiple servers came over to help us, but we weren't sure who was the main person taking care of our table. This led to a lot of confusion for a simple request, such as getting the bill at the end of our experience and even placing food orders. When we did receive our food, a lot of it was underwhelming, including the Orozco Pollo. The cocktails with the bright spot in this location and if I were to return again, would probably just stick with that. It's not a bad place, but I do think there are a simple operational improve improvement that can significantly enhance the experience. read more

We stopped by on the way home from Gilroy and we did make a reservation because it was a Saturday evening. It was empty. We sat on the roof and it was chilly but we had them turn on the heater. The service is slow. Like I said it was empty there was 2 other tables and it still took them 10 minutes to get our drink order. Another 15 minutes to order. We ordered an appetizer that had zero flavor and the steak bites were dry. The steak on the surf and turf had ZERO flavor and was overcooked the shrimp again ZERO flavor. I was here with a group of friends after the new year. We made a reservation for the outdoor seating. It was cold and windy hence after our drinks were done we requested to be moved in for dinner if there's available seats. The staff was very helpful and they helped us move inside. The service is great, the food was okay and the cocktails were also worth trying out. They had really good DJ music we really enjoyed. We ordered couple of appetizers such as streak tacos, cocktail shrimps, and the shrimp with rice and vegetables. We had a great time. On a Friday night -- not even a busy one -- we were seated outside and waited 30 minutes without receiving our drinks. I would like to complain regarding my interaction with Tess. I called about being overcharged for items I purchased earlier this day, and instead of addressing my concerns professionally, Tess became confrontational and argumentative. She ultimately hung up on me before resolving the issue.I was overcharged by $30 and had the receipt to prove where the mistake was. Rather than hearing me out, she was rude, talked over me and offered 0 solutions. When I called back, Gisselle answered. She was courteous, patient, and accommodating. She also confirmed that Tess was the employee I had spoken with previously. I greatly appreciate Gisselle's professionalism and customer service, which made a significant difference after my initial experience. I was so excited to try this place. A rooftop in Livermore!!! Yayyy Located in downtown Livermore which was really nice, you gotta take the elevator up to third floor. Once I got there, I got mixed feelings, the place look nice but kind of not organized. 'Please wait to be seated' sign was in handwritten on a piece of paper...ok I tried not to judge yet, got seated ordered drink&food. My tamarind drink was actually great and my entree as well BUT what turned me off was the sauce container! It was a plastic container... if you want to make it rooftop vibe, why can't you spend couple more dollars on the sauce containers? Later, I noticed they started serving water in plastic cup as well not to mentioned, service was really slow and not professional. Hostess could have smiled more and server could have been faster and more productive. I had to wait for my check for more than 10 mins. Once he got it for me, he stopped at another table to take the order first then dropped it off to me then waited and waited... no where he was found so I decided to walked inside to pay, he said 'thank you, see you' I then replied'I still have to pay' Oh well, while I was up on the rooftop, I saw many restaurants down the street and sure enough, those would be where I would visit next time. Granted it was a Friday night. It was interesting to find. You walk into what looks like a business/office building and take the elevator to the 3rd floor in order to reach the restaurant. We wanted to sit outside and the rooftop views were nice. They had little tables with fire pits. Those were cute. They service was fine. The waiters were attentive and pleasant. We ordered garlic shrimp as a starter. It was only 5 shrimps with two pieces of bread. I did not taste much garlic. It was in some sauce that tasted like tomato based. It wasn't that great. Felt a bit ripped off for $17. I had the linguine clam pasta which I enjoyed! There were decent amount of clams and the flavor was nice. He had the steak bevette and he said his steak was over cooked. Too chewy. Also we think it. did not have as much flavor as we had hoped. There are only two bathrooms, one for mens and one for womens. Its not stalls. Its a person door. I went to go to the bathroom and there were 4 females waiting in line and I was number 5. Here we are waiting cramped in the corner with their storage chairs and high chairs and guys trying to walk by to their bathroom. It took quite a while before it was my turn. read more

I tried to make a reservation for 6 people for a Tuesday night - it said no seats available. We decided to show up early to wait for a table and the ENTIRE rooftop was empty except for 2 parties of 2 - so the reservation system is broken. Staff was friendly and seated us quickly & took our drink orders well but the food service was BRUTAL and they charged a 20% large group gratuity. The food was good but took forever to arrive, came out in drips & drabs and nobody had utensils. Two of the meals were missing items and then it took forever to get our leftover boxes and finally had to go inside to settle our bill. The busboy helped us turn on the heater bc it got quite cold - we could hear the gas running but no heat coming out. This location is AMAZING, food is solid (although on an already pricey sandwich a $3 charge for fries feels egregious!) but the servers need training and the staff inside needs to help get the table set and food out promptly. read more

We almost kept walking past this past as I thought it was a tea location. We walked in without reservations with plenty open seats. The roof top is adorable and could be such a great spot! However, they sat us down and after settling down they asked us to move. No problem. We moved tables, settled down and got our menus. 5 minutes later being asked again to move for a reservation in an hour. We came for drinks only, we tried to order a drink on the menu they didn't have it. Bummer. Basic drinks-nothing special. I experienced a serious and unacceptable billing issue at Azotea in Livermore. The correct total for my order was $60, yet I was initially charged $98. I immediately canceled the transaction due to the incorrect amount. Despite the cancellation, the restaurant processed another charge to my card for $158.70, an amount I did not authorize. Charging a customer after a transaction has been canceled is unacceptable and raises concerns about the restaurant's payment handling and internal controls. I am now forced to dispute this charge with my bank due to the merchant's failure to correct their own error. This experience reflects a lack of accountability and poor financial practices that no customer should have to deal with. Until Azotea addresses these billing issues and demonstrates responsible handling of customer payments, I cannot recommend this establishment. read more

Overall an ok experience! The ambiance was nice and we went for sunset. We were sitting at our table outside for what seemed like a while before any server came around. There were also barely any people there... We ordered drinks first, which were very expensive and took a while to come out, and then we ordered food. The drinks were tasty but also came out like 5 min before the food did. The food was ok, not great for the price, also it was more so lukewarm when we got it. Our server was nice, but he took a while to get our check and ended up forgetting it with which we had to remind him. It happens! On Wednesday they held their pre thanksgiving event and after going there a few times in the past we decided to go! The ambiance was great, everyone was having a great time.I am doing the no alcohol November so I was completely sober so I was having so much fun up until the incident happened! "Mind you his wife was there" I had my best friend and her boyfriend and a friend waiting for me at the bar when I walked up to them and the owner inappropriately grabbed my behind and as it was happening 2 people witnessed! He was so hammered from all alcohol he was consuming "I have proof" and played it off that he didn't know what was going on! One of his waiters tried to cover and say nothing happened, but 3 witnesses saw the whole incident which them broke into a physical fight because my friend was telling him that it was not OK that he had touched me, so he had one friend in red push my friend' and another! Please, if you have any children don't go here! He was not remorseful at all, because later on that night we saw him trying to get into the bar in front called rebel! I filed a police report! And will definitely be seeking legal advice because what he did to me is absolutely disgusting inappropriate and if he did it to me, he could do it to anybody else! read more

My friends and I recently visited this place based around certain reviews because of ambiance, rooftop bar and drinks. However, we came across the most worst experience ever. I ordered a hot toddy, my partner ordered a irish coffee whereas my friend had ordered a margarita. I had a drink that tasted nothing but a lemon hot watered down drink. Nothing boasted anything with a bourbon taste. The WORST tasting drink that's even featured on the menu. On top of that, the Irish coffee was also watered down but the staff was not remotely understanding and I had to argue with the staff that we had a drink that was already paid for that had little to no alcohol at all. By the time we had finished our so-called cocktails, my friend had already closed out the tab for us so she can leave ahead of us while my partner and I had been harassed and asked we pay for our drinks. To our dismay, we had already PAID for our cocktails based upon our friend who had taken a photo of the receipt and told us it was already paid for. Ultimately, the staff was not only condescending, but the hurdle of the bar staff, chased down my partner and I to meet us downstairs after taking the elevator, after we had mentioned multiple times, the drinks were already paid for. The bartender was extremely dismissive but was rude and we were rightfully polite after explaining and arguing we had paid the drinks. Even though we had drinks that were watered down and/or had zero alcohol in our cocktails. Would we ever recommend this place to anyone after the mistreatment we received? NO!! BEWARE! I would never tell friends and/or families to go here. We were being demanded to pay for drinks that were already paid for. I have a receipt for the drinks that were included on the bill. I would never come back for the lack of service, rude behavior of staff and being chased down for something that we have not done as a result of the staff to be so rude to paying customers. NEVER would I come back here again. Even after we had mentioned and told our friend who had paid and had contacted the manager and called what had happened. They were trying to repay us by visiting again with free drinks on the house but I would NEVER consider it after the mistreatment we received whatsoever. Disappointing Experience Despite Great Ambiance We really wanted to love Azotea. The location and rooftop setting in downtown Livermore are fantastic, but unfortunately, the experience fell short on nearly every other front. Service was inattentive throughout our visit. We had to ask multiple times for water refills, and even then, they never came. One of our drinks was brought out still in the can--unopened--with no glass or ice. It felt careless. Our meals came out about 10 minutes apart, so we weren't able to enjoy our food together. On a chilly, windy day, we asked several times to have the outdoor heater turned on and only after repeated reminders did it finally happen. We also ordered grilled jalapeños that never arrived. Food-wise, it was hit or miss. The Arroz con Pollo was underwhelming--lacking both flavor and flair, and to make matters worse, they had run out of the chile relleno, leaving our vegetarian friend to settle for a very average mac and cheese. There's clearly potential here, but the execution--both in service and food--needs serious attention. Until then, I'd recommend trying one of the many other options nearby that pair atmosphere with better hospitality. read more

We came here on a Friday night and opted to sit out on the roof top. It was cold but they had a heat lamp (which was a bit weak) to try to keep us warm. It was nice to sit outside and have a nice view of the city. I ordered the north coast brewing but I wasn't a fan. The calamari however was delicious and I love the bits of fried jalapeno. I love a good spot with a view--and Azotea delivers. I had the pleasure of dining here twice in one weekend: dinner on Friday, March 28th, and brunch the following afternoon on Saturday, March 29th. The avocado was incredibly fresh, and the fruit garnish was beautifully presented. My friend enjoyed the French toast, which was hearty and satisfying. Azotea is an ideal spot to catch up with friends over well-crafted drinks and thoughtfully made food. I love a good raspberry lemon drop, and Azotea's is now my favorite in Livermore. I suspect it's because of the freshly squeezed lemon juice, and it tastes like they muddle real raspberries rather than relying on flavored liqueur. The fried cod sandwich is another standout, but the highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly Natalie, who made our Friday night memorable with the most pleasant demeanor imaginable. Celebrating a birthday gone wrong. From the minute we walked in the hostess was cold and unfriendly. Like it was a bother to seat us. The server was trying to rush our order, then apparently she left on a break and no one told us. The Busser took our order. The camarones a la diabla were sour and limey, guacamole bland, skewers over cooked, ribs were drenched in sauce, rice was sticky. We let the busser know about the food concern and nobody came to address the issue, while they sat inside talking. Nothing stood out, not even something as simple as Mac and cheese or fries not to mention the drinks $20 for a watered down cocktail. $200+ for horrible food, worse service ever AND they added $40 gratuity. I don't mind tipping even when it's not a good experience but to be forced to do it, ridiculous. Keep my money, I will take my business elsewhere.
