We came to Locanda Wine Bar in downtown Livermore on a Friday evening to celebrate my wife's birthday with friends, and we had an absolute blast! The vibe here is lively, fun, and vibrant. Reservations are definitely highly recommended since it gets so popular. The entire staff is awesome, but a massive shout-out goes to our waitress, Ashley--she was fantastic and provided incredible service throughout the entire night! We ordered a wide variety of dishes to share, and every single one was a hit: * Fritto Marechiaro: A wonderful mix of fresh calamari, jumbo prawns, sliced zucchini, and artichoke hearts. Everything was fried to a light, crispy perfection and paired wonderfully with the signature Locanda Capri sauce. * Pane e Olive: Crisp, fresh baguette from local Wingen Bakery served alongside Locanda's classic olive tapenade. Rich, savory, and the perfect starter bite. * Fiori di Zucca: Delicate zucchini blossoms stuffed with creamy ricotta and mozzarella, served over a rich marinara sauce. These were absolutely delicious and melted in your mouth. * Penne alla Vodka: Tender penne pasta tossed with smoked mozzarella, Parmesan, and cracked pepper in a rich, creamy vodka pink sauce. Yummy and comforting! * Parmigiana di Melanzane: Mamma Carmela's famous eggplant parmigiana layered with melted mozzarella and tomato sauce. If you want a fun atmosphere and unique drinks this is the place, Bring plenty of money because they are not shy with their prices. Their staff is amazing, but the dinners are a zero, chicken is dry, meat is under cooked and sides are hard to discribe. The cost for their dinners are $$$$ and not worth $ at best. My wife and I stopped into Locanda Wine Bar in Livermore for a relaxed late lunch/early dinner and had a wonderful time. We sat outdoors on a beautiful day--the atmosphere was lovely with great vibes, and we even caught some World Cup soccer on the large TV while we dined. It felt casual yet upscale, perfect for unwinding. We started with glasses of wine--my wife loved her Aperol Spritz, and I enjoyed a crisp Pinot Grigio. For our appetizer, we ordered the zucchini florets (fiori di zucca) stuffed with ricotta cheese and served in a marinara sauce. They were delicious and a fantastic way to begin the meal. For our mains, we both went with salads: the Salmon salad for me and the Caesar salad for her. Both were fresh, flavorful, and exactly what we wanted--light but satisfying. The wife and I eat at Locanda in Campbell fairly often, so after wine tasting at Wente and Concannon in Livermore and needing a place to eat we of course decided to try Locanda Livermore. This one has a bit more of a "party" vibe to it than Campbell and most of the seating is outdoors, but the food and service were just as good. A no go on my list from now on. The food was genuinely great and honestly the only redeeming part of the experience but everything else was incredibly disappointing. It took 15 minutes just for someone to take our order and another 25 minutes just to get our drinks. When we asked about the delay, the server wasn't apologetic and instead blamed our choice of drinks and said the bar was taking a long time. The food also took far too long to arrive, making the entire evening feel dragged out and frustrating. What made it worse was watching the next table get their food and drinks much faster, which made us feel uncomfortable and honestly wonder if we were being treated differently. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but the overall experience felt neglectful and poorly handled. Great food alone isn't enough to make up for service that makes guests feel unwelcome. read more

Came to Locanda for the first time this week after seeing good reviews about the pasta but unfortunately we were not very impressed. We ordered the penne alla vodka and the gnocchi - it felt like both were lacking in flavor, and missing salt and spice. We did ask for red pepper flakes and they also gave us a chili paste so that added some more flavor. However the gnocchi felt strangely undercooked as it would feel sticky when eating. This was quite uncomfortable so we didn't finish it. I will say the service was great and all the staff were very nice and friendly, and the ambiance is nice. There is an outdoor patio which is very cutely decorated with swings, and an inside area behind that. Nice to try out, probably won't be back. read more

I meet my parents here for an early dinner today . I was trying to find a place and I found this one on Yelp . It looked delicious I had to give it a try . Walking up they have a great outside area as soon as you come in there is a huge patio very nicely decorated . The inside was very cute with a huge bar in the middle . They do have TV's around the restaurant . The restroom was clean and had a changing table . We ended up sitting outside it was a very nice day we had to enjoy the outside time . The staff were all so nice from the moment we walked in till the moment we walked out . We got greeted both times . Our waiter was so amazing on my bill it says her name is Raffaella M she was so nice and attentive she also spoke Spanish which was a big help with my parents since it's their first language. For our food I got the Gnocchi Mamma Carmela with pesto sauce it was delicious. My parents got Penne Vodka and Lasagna they both enjoyed their dishes . For drinks we got an Espresso Martini and the Basiltini . For dessert I got a cheesecake my mom got a latte and my dad got ice cream. Everything was super delicious. Highly recommend. I married into an Italian family and started my food journey 30 years ago. I have been to Italy numerous times and fortunately know good Italian food from many regions. My son and I dined at Lacanda on Sunday after playing golf. We arrived during the shift change with caused some confusion with our order as they prepared for the dinner rush. Noticing there was an issue the manager came over and couldn't have handeled it better. The pizza was amazing, as well as everything else. However, there is a bread plate lol Ordered the eggplant however it was burnt. It had a horrible taste, and it was more like a goulash. I do not suggest their eggplant try something else go through the pictures on yelp order that way. They're seating is adorable. I love the set up nice wicker chairs swings and grass. We were under the covered patio area by the outdoor bar. Drinks are a tad on the pricier side $15-20 each. We ordered 2 appetizers, 6 drinks ( Limonata, red wine, furori, 1926 and my fave the Hugo Spritz just like we had in Spain, and 5 dinner meals ( Eggplant parmigiana, lasagna, 2 orders of the bolognese & pesto gnocchi) which was about $291 not including gratuity. Staff were very attentive and brought fun energy to our dine in experience. I recently went to Spain so this place gave me all the cool fun vibes of Amalfi coast and Italy/Spain. I come here all the time and absolutely love the vibe. Being able to bring your dogs, relax, and enjoy the atmosphere makes it feel like you're on vacation. It's one of my favorite places to spend time. That said, I normally wouldn't leave a negative review, but the Asian gentleman working as the greeter could really improve his customer service skills. On multiple occasions, he has come across as short, unfriendly, and somewhat dismissive. First impressions matter, and as the first person guests interact with, a warmer and more welcoming attitude would go a long way in enhancing the overall experience. We went to Locanda in Livermore last night with our family after taking our kids to the Livermore Bankhead Theater across the street. We were seated promptly on the patio, which was great and kid-friendly--but everything after that was disappointing. It took over an hour to get our food, and when it arrived, it was cold . Our salad came after the entrees, no one checked on us, and we were left with empty water glasses and missing condiments. We have toddlers and there was no sense of urgency or care. No one asked us if we were ok or checked on us after we got our food. Our server was very nice but she admitted she was "slammed" and apologized and said they were busy and under staffed. We spoke to the manager, Mitch, he was dismissive, gave no eye contact, when speaking to us and acted like we were bothering him when sharing our experience. He blamed it on a "busy Friday night,". Busy will NEVER be an excuse I accept . Aren't all restaurants "busy " on Friday nights?Shame on the management here I encourage them to get proper training with customer service standards. Locanda and Livermore never disappoints. I've been to Danville several times and Pleasanton once or twice, but I think Livermore is the best one. The same host, mick, is always working, and I like the consistency of that. They make good cocktails, but it's always fun to get an aperol spritz. I definitely prefer sitting outside, but we sat inside today and it wasn't so bad. I just like the outside vibe much better. The pizza here is good. I've had most, if not all, of them. Tonight we had the meat lovers pizza and it tasted extra good! The crust was really crispy, but not in an overcooked way. We also had the Locanda salad with prawns and that's one of my favorites here. I've had dessert here once, a tiramisu that was prepared differently. It did taste good though. Not only did she make some excellent recommendations (which were all smashing hits!) my wife and I both agreed that both her energy and personality were so refreshing and frankly becoming more the exception than the norm in the service industry.
